Charlie's Wells Irrigation

I am very happy with Charlie's Wells. They came on time did a great job and cost was what they said it would be. They cleaned up after themselves. Their estimate was very accurate. Highly recommend.

I had several other people out for repairs. With him I finally found someone who knew what he was doing. They came out promptly.

Called ahead, arrived as scheduled, worked efficiently and checked with me about cost before doing any work. Everything is working well.

Two service people came out and changed a valve and then told me a gasket on the pump was bad. I told them they installed the pump a couple years ago and was told the pump was the best on the market. They could not fix the gasket as "usually the pump won't work" after replacing the gasket. The only solution was to let them put a thing on the well where I could "manually" prime the pump. Don't think so! The wells in my yard are over 50 years old. The pump has been in the same location with a new cover for over 10 years. The last pump was over 20 years old when it was replaced - but the break down was my fault - the cover make it too hot (it's vented and in the shade) and it broke because it sat there for over a month, even though it quit working after regular weekly use. So much for an "A" company and "best pump on the market."

We were installing a swimming pool and our pump stopped working. Charlie's came out within an hour and explained the problem. They had with them the electrical supplies needed and we went out and purchased the tank that holds the bladder. This all took approx. one hour and pump was working again. They were very professional, and even more important very punctional as we did not have any access to water.

I called for an emergency repair because my sprinkler system was leaking badly. I also had a water spot growing under a tree. Charlie's Wells managed to fit me in on the same day I called because of the emergency. That was really appreciated. Bob found the source of both leaks to be a valve and a pipe that had been nicked by the previous owner of the house when he planted an electrical system for his Christmas tree lights. That leak was harder to find but Bob took the time to close all the water to the house and identify the potential leak spot by analyzing where all pipes were laid under ground. It was particularly discouraging to find we might have to start digging from the street up to the junction T, but Bob used some of the information I gave him about water under a tree and his own investigation to find that leak. He had to dig 1.5 foot deep to replace the piece of pipe. He also replaced both valves and propped them up a bit closer to the surface so we do not have to dig as deep when doing work on the system. He then added a new sprinkler head to the back of the house, extending the actual piping by another 10feet to cover the new sod I had replaced.

My wife and I just purchased the home last October and we never had a sprinkler system before so we were unaware about how they work. Ours is an old system and has been re-worked since first put in. I had another company come out and look the system over. He charged me $100 for the first visit and wanted $200 to move a head from one zone to another. Too much in my opinion. Anyway, things were going fine until I noticed that one zone was not working so well (pun intended). Not knowing what to do, and not happy with the first company, I checked Angie's list and found Charlie's Wells and gave him a call. They set up an apoointment for the next week and said I was the first customer of the day at 8:30 AM. Sure enough on my scheduled day the techichian arrived at exactly 8:30 AM. He began working right away and noticed that one of my outlets was buried underground WITHOUT a sprinkler head. It was gushing water underground. He also noticed another area where water was gushing where an elbow had cracked. That might explain my enormous water bill!. He proceeded to fix all the problems and changed oiut several heads for better coverage and better pressure. I was extremely happy with the results.

Guys were fine and friendly. I would be too for that much money!

Called several companies from Angie's list and Charlie's was the first irrigation service to have a "real" person answer the phone, not a machine. Scheduled a next day appointment. Bob came out on time, gave a call ahead. He found the problem and fixed it. Once the system was working he then went around and dug up all the sprinkler heads that had grass and dirt covering them. He replaced heads, adjusted spray (so I'm not watering concrete) and heightened some of the heads so the water was not diverted by large plants. Bob was personable and responsible. I had to leave early so he took my coupon and Diana in the office billed me. When I returned he had locked the gate and cleaned up. If I need a sprinkler contact I'll call Charlie's first. They were great!

They came out when they said they are going to come. They were informative and they listened to what I needed. I didn't go further because my availability was very complicated but the company was good.

They did an excellent job. The price was reasonable.

I had a bad experience with Charlie?s Wells Irrigation and I will not be calling them again. I learnt something from doing business with them. They sent two men, who arrived at my house at 12.15 in the afternoon, while I was supposed to meet them only at 1.30 pm. By the time I got home, they had finished the work. When my son tried to pay them by cash, they told him that they would bill me instead. They sent me a bill for $120 for 15 minutes job of repairing the sprinkler head. My son didn?t want me to pay them. I paid them anyway and I will never use them again. The experience was pretty disappointing.

I was disappointed with the fact the estimator was not more through.

Although the tech was a couple hours later than the scheduled time window, he called to explain his delay. Within 20 minutes of arrival he had completed the work, tested the sprinkler heads, and did any necessary adjustments. Bob completed the work a lot faster and better than I could have or would have. I'd have no hesitation using Charlie's again.

The weather was awful - very heavy rain - on 7/09, the date of installation, but that didn't stop the company from arriving close to the appointment time and doing the job. For aesthetic purposes the shutoff valve and filter were installed behind some bushes. After completing the installation the installer ran the sprinkler system to verify that everything was running as it ought to. Unfortunately when the City inspector came - much later than scheduled - he couldn't pass the installation because the shutoff valve was more than 3 feet from the City's hookup. However, evrything else looked good, and so the inspector unlocked the City hookup with the understanding that the valve etc be moved. I called Charlie's Wells back and there was no problem getting them to come back the next morning. The next day - again pretty miserable weather - Charlie's Wells came and moved the valve etc to conform to code. As luck would have it the City inspector happened to pass by and noticed that the work was being. He checked it out and passed the installation. The installation rules vary from city to city within Pinellas and while it was unfortunate that the first install violated the "3 ft. rule" I was very happy with the service provided by Charlie's Wells.

Charlie's Wells installed my system some time ago and they were great. Later I added a system to eliminate the rust from my well. The folks worked with me to get just the right amount of chemicals. They came out several times without charge. Whenever I call for more chemicals, they are prompt in delivery. They leave a case and bill me later. When I discovered that a couple of my sprinklers were not spraying properly, they came out within a couple of days to solve the problem...in the rain. One the gentleman had repaired and replaced what was needed, he asked me to look at the new spray to make sure I was satisfied. I love this bunch.

They were able to come out immediately. They diagnosed the problem, fixed it and went in an hour. Their quality is good. They gave us the time line and they came in that time.

They are accessible and reasonable, and they know what they are doing. If there is a problem with the irrigation system, or if there is leak, they?ll fix that. There are not many houses around here that have wells, but they don?t fool around with the job and are really good. I use them a lot for my clients. The irrigation system of my client was not working for 6 years, and they fixed what they could fix and replaced the rest.

Two workers arrived at the appointed time; I told them my timer (mounted in my garage) wasn't working; they quickly installed a new Rain Bird timer from their truck. When done, they checked out my sprinkler zones and replaced one sprinkler head ($4 charge), taking approx. 10 minutes. Total time at my house: approx. one hour. I observed that the new timer was mounted "cockeyed", certainly not level, but didn't complain to the workers. The price they presented me - $254 - seemed high, but I didn't know what the timer sold for, so again I didn't complain. The workers told me to call their office (Diana, I believe) to get my $15 Angie's List discount and give her my credit card number. Prior to calling, I checked online and saw that the timer sells for approx. $92. When I called Diana, I said I thought $250 (before Angie's List discount) seemed like a high markup for a $92 timer, and she told me it came with a 2-year warranty (vs. 1 year from manufacturer). [BTW, I saw no paperwork to evidence that.] I also told her the timer wasn't installed on the level; she told me Charlie would come out to fix it. Charlie came out at the appointed time, looked at the timer and said nothing. I asked "do you think I'm being picky"? He said "yes, but I'll fix it". Five minutes later, he was done. In summary: 1) I don't feel expecting a timer to be installed on the level is too much; 2) I still feel the markup was high; 3) a written 2-year warranty should have been provided, if there is one.

Charlie's Wells came out to provide a quote with the understanding that they would be available to also do the work at that time if I selected them. I'd received a quote from another company earlier in the day that was higher than Charlie's, so I went with Charlie's. They were very professional and seemed to know what needed to be done. When they were done, they had me review and I found a few areas that still needed additional work. They cheerfully took care of those items, although I would have preferred if they'd found them before I did. I've been very pleased with their results!

I called Charlie's Wells to set up an appt. because I knew I had at least one bad head in the main lawn and suspected 1 or 2 little sprayers in the bushes needed repaired. I hadn't run the system for months because of this (the damage had been cased by the lawn mower and weed wackers), but since we are in such a drought presently, I decided to run it at least twice a month, so repairs were necessary. My appointment was schedules for @ 8 days and Bob showed on time. I went over with him what I expected. He immediately set to work, checking out the timed zones to see which sprinkler heads were just squirting or flooding, and which were operating properly. He then marked each bad one with a marker flag. He went through each of the zones doing this til all 7 were complete. I was surprised at the number of flags by the time he was done. I hadn't realized how many bad heads there were on the property, since the system usually runs at night. He then spent the next 55 min. repairing and replacing the nozzles and heads of the flagged ones and re-checking the system, each zone all over. I am so glad he did such a thorough job because it could have cost me a lot of money in water bills and fines if it had not been repaired properly. Then when he was complete, I was informed I would be billed by mail. I was expecting to write a check at that point (I had an Angie' List coupon and mentioned this - Bob said "Just deduct it from your check and send it in when you get the bill"). So the amt. listed is what I paid - bill was 213.

I placed a call to repair the reclaimed water connection that the previous company messed up. They said they could come out the next day to work on the problem but I needed another day and they worked with my schedule. At the schedule time, they fixed the problem within an hour and we talked and I asked about repairing a broken sprinkler line and asked for an est. They were willing to meet my price and so I schedule an apt as this job was going to take longer. The day they fixed the broken line, we asked them if they could do one more system of adding a misting system for the Orchids and they said yes and was able to finish the job two days later. Great work!
