Charlie's Wells Irrigation

The crew called to inform me that they were going to be on their way shortly. Upon arrival, they listened to my explanations of the problem and what had been done last year. Together, we came up with an action plan - decided to check water level in the well first to make sure there is enough water in the well. The crew then found the linking pipe not far from the checking valve. A new piece of pipe was installed along with a new check valve. They explained the cost upfront and did the repair work efficiently and professionally - they did not waste anytime at all! Once everything was put-together, the whole sprinkler system was tested and sprinkler heads adjusted as required. They cleaned up everything afterwords, and the job was completed in less than two hours. The invoice was clearly written/itemized - I even got a $15 discount upon mentioning the coupon from Angie's list. I am a satisfied customer (in marked contrast to a very disappointing experience with anther company last year), and would highly recommend Charlie's Wells to anyone who requires repair work to their well/pump/sprinkler system. I have been battling my sprinkler system for almost a year. it would runt it's 4 station cycle and run it again and again for 2 or 3 more times. I still have warranty on the system but the company that installed it would not respond or return my phone calls after they made one trip and could not fix the problem. This is when I decided to use Angie's List to find a company with good reputation. When the person from Charlie's Wells arrived, he listened to what I have to say and it only took few minutes for him to recognize the problem. It was a programming issue on the timer. maybe if I read the instructions better I could have fixed it but it bothers me that the company who installed the system could not diagnose the problem. Anyways, if there's any issues with my sprinkler system, I would call Charlie's Wells first.

The initial repair was performed on May 18. Several leaky valves were replaced on that date. I think the repair person used good judgement in replacing the whole set of four as I think they were all the same age and even though only one or two were leaking badly, the others were soon to follow. I think money was saved by replacing all four with one service call, instead of requiring multiple calls. We noticed a leak in the area of the repair a couple of weeks later and they promptly came out to fix it at no cost. Very professional job.

Justin was a little late but called me to inform me he would be arriving soon. I was his last call on Friday afternoon so I understand. When he arrived, I outlined the problems I was having. Broken pipes first, followed by inoperative sprinklers and finally that I would like him to clean and adjust all the remaining sprinklers. Justin quickly located the two pipe breaks and excavated the area around the breaks carefully removing the sod to be replaced later. He sorted out the breaks and replaced the pipes and couplings. After a quick pressure check, he refilled the holes and replaced the sod. Next came a sprinkler head that was encircled by a large tree root. He chopped away the root until he was able to get the sprinkler head loose and replaced it. While checking the other zones he noticed the sprinklers in zone two had very little pressure. He quickly located a sprinkler that was leaking and causing the entire zone lose pressure. After more digging and a couple of trips to his truck, that problem was solved. He finished up by checking all the sprinklers in each zone and cleaning and adjusting as required. Justin did a great job, cleaned up and replaced any sod he removed during digging.

From the moment the installer (Brian) arrived at my house, he had an attitude. He arrived 30 minutes late. Didn't say good morning, how are you doing, nothing. Didn't explain why he was late. His customer service skills are non existant. The job was supposed to take 1 1/2 hours and ended up taking 3 hours. He had to dig up his work 3 times as things were not working properly when the city inspector was performing his inspection. I called the office to complain about the service I was receiving from Brian and Diana gave the impression that she receives compliant calls about Brian all the time however Brian is their "best" guy. Said she would talk to him, however I felt that it was going to go no where. They offered to reschedule the job however the job was already in process and I had made arrangements with my boss for the time off and I needed the sprinkler system working as I had just had new landscaping installed. The only reason I used Charlies Wells was because of a referral from another company. They are on Angie's List however B rated. I should have known then not to use them. After the job was completed, Brian and his crew basically jumped in the truck and took off. Didn't explain how to hook up with the hose or test the complete system to ensure everything was working properly. I had to have another company come out and assess the system and make the necessary repairs for the system to work correctly. Water was leaking at the reclaimed hook up that Charlies Wells installed. I also had a water leak at the main pipe where Brian and his crew were working. I had to have a plumber come out and fix that. All in all, I will never use Charlies Wells again and word of mouth is a powerful thing. This experience did not have to end as it did however I felt that I was in a no win situation with both Brian and Diana.

I called Charlie wells and spoke to Diana and explained my problem. She set a day and time for repair. Charlie and he crew show up on time and spent time having me show them my concerns. He reassured me him he will fix like it was his own property. I have had Charlie maintain my irrigation system for many years and felt confident of the best job possible at a reasonable price. With in a hour, he walked me thur every thing they had done to eliminated brown areas in my yard. The upgrades and performance of the system are perfect. Again, I am completely satisfied and love my green grass.

I had Charlie come out twice....once before our renovation and then after because some of our plans changed. One of the nicest contractors I've ever dealt with. Punctual, professional, and absolutely knows what he's doing. His crew showed up on time.... did everything I asked for in a FLASH, were very nice and professional.... and the price was so much lower than other contractors I had look at the job. Our irrigation system was a big headache for us for an entire year.... and poof.... that headache is gone. After dealing with several irrigation companies, I highly recommend this company and will no doubt use them again should the need arise.

Great. They came out same day (because a valve got stuck open) and finished in a couple of hours. They were prompt, courteous and efficient.

They sent non competent people. They were nickle and diming me. They would repair one thing, charge me, and leave. And then they would come back and charge me again to fix their mistakes. I don't know how they got to the top of Angie's List. They are totally incompetent.

Prompt and professional service with an Angies list discount credited on my bill. I will use them from now on.

Glad to have it fixed. They showed up on time and replaced old timer - then found out it would not work so they replaced a box out by the pump. Set new timer up and checked zones. We have used this company before and have always been pleased with their work.

Everything went very well, Cory was very professional and explained that some heads needed minor adjusting and didn't need to be replaced. He even checked my timer and reset it correctly for me. I was very pleased with such fast and courteous service.

I called the office in the morning to schedule an estimate on lawn sprinklers that were not working properly. He came in mid afternoon as requested the same day. Replaced what was needed, checked all, to insure everything was working. Very professional, and knowledgeable.

Very good. They came out to do it in the middle of January when it was very cold outside.

We talked to several irrigation contractors from Angie's List and Charlie was the only one of the group that would give us a free evaluation of our irrigation system. That appealed to our Board, so we asked him to come, and he did so very quickly. We needed some immediate changes made as we were having a new hedge planted along a boundary fence, and some longer range improvements we thought. Charlie spent two hours walking the entire property and examining virtually every sprinkler. He was very pleasant, full of suggestions, and spent as much time as needed to do the survey to our satisfaction. He suggested doing the immediate work first for $500 and when the Board approved, returning to complete the work. His men were prompt, fast working, very cooperative and professional. They and we checked the entire system after they had finished the first work and again when all the work was completed, and when we found a few more changes we'd like made, the crew swung into action and styed until we were fully satisfied.

Initial request performed on 3/1 was for an estimate scheduled only the day before. A verbal quote was given for 4 well points, one for each 1/4 horsepower of the pump motor, and a new pump for $1700. Bob explained that the pump was guaranteed for 3 years and the wells, if drilled, were guaranteed for 1 year. The option of just replumbing the connection to the well, replacing the bad check valve and using the original pump were explored - there would be no guarantee in this case. He also said that if just the pump were tried and wells were needed, the cost would only be the difference between what had been spent and this quote. Bob spent over a hour with a test pump to see the wells thought to be bad were actually dead. He was able to get good water from the well, so the decision was made to try just a pump and check valve replacement initially with a fall back for wells. When the decision was made to do just the pump, he contacted his office and scheduled the pump installation for 3/3. He was on time, did neat work and went a couple of steps further - a new check valve was installed, the old pump and its control box was removed, and an additional safety valve was installed ahead of the sprinkler zone valves. He also checked the sprinkler system and replaced some of the heads and installed screens in the remainder. During this process he explained the cost difference between doing it ourselves or having him do it. The final cost was about $650 with the additional $100 being labor for plumbing and the parts for sprinkler repair. Verbal operational instructions along with all of the manufacturer's documentation were provided. Work area (s) were left neat. A written estimate from Charlie's actually arrived on the day the pump work was being done - 2 days after the initial visit , which is excellent considering this was by US Mail and the initial visit had been an afternoon one. Overall, I feel I got good value and will use this company again.

When I called to make an appointment, I explained my need for training as well as other issues I had noticed around my yard. The person answering the phone was courteous and assured me that nothing I mentioned would be an issue for the person assigned to do the work. She also explained the pricing formula, so I would not be surprised by what it would cost. They provided prompt scheduling of the work. Bob arrive earlier than expected but this did not turn out to be an issue. He was very efficient, clearly knowing what needed to be done to best service the irrigation system. He took the time to explain to me what needed to be done with each head and each zone and how to work on the system myself. I was very pleased not only with his level of knowledge but also his willingness to teach and his very friendly manner.

The 3rd zone of my lawn irrigation system was not working and I could not find the irrigation distribution box. Lawrence from Charlie's Wells Irrigation was able to quickly locate and replace a broken diaphram. I felt the job was a little pricey for the amount of time it could but the technican, Lawrence, was on time, professional and able to complete the job quickly.

They do an excellent job. They are responsive and professional. I have been using them for the last 5-6 years.

I would recommend him to anyone. He does a great job.

My technician, Lawrence, was able to identify and repair my irrigation system in a very short time. We were both surprised to discover that there were 2 sprinkler heads that had been buried due to a very poor system design. My irrigation system had been looked at before by no less than 3 other companies and none of them were able to discover and repair some bizarre problems. It is now functioning better than it ever has.

Charlie was on time and worked efficiently. His price was very reasonable compared to others I have worked with. I would definitely recommend him to others.

Contacted office on Monday 9/13/10, spoke with Diana (Charlie's wife) who set up an appointment for Charlie to come to my home at 8:30 AM the next day to give an estimate for tne job. Charlie showed up as scheduled and made the estimate. I had originally planned on having just the 1 1/4" PVC replaced. I was going to connect the new pipe to the lake pickup at one end and my pump at the other end. Charlie said why bother, he would take care of that also and do the complete job for $300. I couldn't argue with that, so I accepted his bid on the spot and he said he would try to work me in within a few days. I generally don't operate like that without getting several written bids. However I had been on a roll using providers I had selected from Angie's List with excellent results and besides Charlie had impeccable reviews from the list. Diana called me a couple days later and told me Charlie would be out the next day. Shortly after 7 AM Charlie showed up with 2 of his workmen, Ben and Brian. There was not an awful lot of discussion except Charlie and I were talking about my existing lake cannister and he produced a new configuration of cannister he just happened to have in his truck. He said he could add it as an appendage to my cannister. I agreed, and he added it. I essentially traded him the Angie's coupon ($15) for the cannister. I think I came out better on that deal. Somehow it didn't surprise me after reading in his reviews how he frequently came up with such "surprises". With that, Charlie took off. He said something about a hunting trip. Ben and Brian checked out the whole system and policed the area. A little over 2 hours had passed since they started. People sometimes get confused after work is completed on a "job" basis and start figuring it out on an "hours" basis. I would say I got more than my money's worth. The whole system seems to work better. The sprinkler heads have a better throw now and there isn't the occasional hangup from marginally low pressure.
