Mike work on a unique mortgage situation for me. He spent way too much of his time trying to explain to me my options. In the end I was not able to write the deal with Mike but his time was very much appreciated. I have his contact information saved and will put him on the top of my list when looking for the next mortgage.

I am so happy I worked with Mike and his team at Guaranteed Rate to help my husband and I purchase our first home. I first spoke with the team February 2017 for the loan application and received our pre-approval letter a few weeks later. Mike's team member, Rick, helped me through the home buying process and was able to break down the expected costs many, many times. I had many questions and Mike and his team were very responsive and patient with my requests. I am a preferred member at certain banks and they didn't give me the attention and care that my husband and I received at GR. I needed an updated pre-approval letter on a weekend and I was able to contact Rick directly for the updated documentation we needed without having to wait until Monday. After going through three contracts, we finally closed on our first home July 2017. One of Mike's team members, Patrick, came to our closing to make sure we were happy with our mortgage package. I know I can call on Mike's team at any time and I look forward to working with them in the future.

Mike Murgatory's G/R team recently helped me complete a refinancing and I could not be happier with the process and the result. Previously I enjoyed an excellent experience with the same team two years ago when we first purchased the home -- when they guided me through a fairly complicated situation. I emailed them on a whim a few weeks ago to see if we might be able to restructure our loan on better terms due to changed circumstances. I heard back later that day from Peter with a range of options. I'm normally pretty neurotic about following up on things and setting reminders for myself, but this team is just totally on top of everything so I let them run the show and waited for updates which always came, at a minimum, every Wednesday. The process was painless like the last time. Everyone on the team handles their business and all the outside people show up on time (appraiser, notary). We will now be saving many thousands of dollars thanks to the refinancing. I wish I had more opportunities to work with this team -- they're just tremendous and work in lockstep. I will recommend them to anyone and everyone I know in the market.

Mike and the team are top notch. When I was looking for a mortgage, I tested offers from big names like Wells Fargo and Quicken. I also tested out Mike Murgatroy with Guaranteed Rate because of the reviews here on Angie's list...and am I ever glad I did. The biggest difference was that Mike didn't try to stick me in a one-size-fits-all mortgage like the others. In fact, Mike was very creative, looked at my situation and evaluated every aspect to find a perfect loan. It literally saved me thousands in both closing and over the term of the loan. When I told the other companies I wasn't using them, they asked why. I told them about the loan and it was only then when they offered the same terms. No thanks, I'd rather use someone that is looking out for me from the start. I won't hesitate using them in the future.

The process was so convenient and easy to do on line with lots of support available by phone if needed. This team is really great to work with so this is the second time I have used them!

Everything went smoothly. 90% of everything was handled online. When I needed a person to speak to my calls were answered quickly and efficiently. What I did was a little scary or daring. My family and I decided to make a major change in our lifestyles moving from New Jersey to Louisiana. I had worked with Mike before on a refinance because of the Angie's List reviews. He lived up to the reviews that time. This time when there was very little room for error, knowing I could count on Mike and the financing made the process less nerve racking than it would have been. We are good candidates with good income and good credit. So the process should go smoothly and with Guaranteed Rate it did.

I cannot say enough good things about Mike and his team of professional individuals. In this day and age, unfortunately, it is very hard to find good customer service, let alone great customer service. Mike and his entire team where there to assist me every time I called, were always available, extremely responsive and on top of all me needs/requests. This is the second time I have used Mike Murgatroy/Guaranteed Rate (once for a refi, once for a new home mortgage), and they make it so easy. They stay on top of deadlines, stay in constant communication, and are totally up front about everything. Each department person was like this, although I knew Mike would be there if I needed him. Guaranteed Rate was fantastic! This process was so seamless and I couldn't have picked a better company to do it with!

Rate was reduced considerably, Although that's in great part my doing, GR was able to offer the best rate. PMI was eliminated. Although a shorter term, monthly mortgage + escrow only went up by about 15%. Paid up front for an appraisal, but that was prorated in the loan cost. The process was extremely easy. Most of the paperwork I needed to provide was available electronically and posted to a secure web site. To close, a notary came by with some additional paperwork, and then BAM, closed. I think it was easier than financing a car. All told, the actual loan cost minus the appraisal was added to the loan, and I was able to get just a bit of cash back. Michael and team: thanks so much. I'll be back when it's time to refinance again and build a sun room, a stone fence and an underground lair.

I reached out to Mike Murgatory to see if he could help me. He reviewed my finances and credit history and found that my ex husband had defaulted on the house we had lived in when married. He had taken possession of it… Mike took the time to help me work through this and find a mortgage that was an acceptable term and rate. No one else would do this without charging me an arm and a leg! Mike knew that my sister was a disabled veteran from the US Air Force and he wanted to do all he could to help and sure she had a safe home to live for days. He kept the cost down as much as he could so the necessary adaptionS for her could be done. I cannot thank Mike and his team enough for helping me through this very, very stressful time. He did such a good job that the actual closing was anti-climactic! I don't think it took a whole hour to complete the closing !

Mike’s team consistently went above and beyond to help me refinance. My situation was a bit more complex than a typical refinancing - I acquired my home using a private lender and I invested a significant amount of money to renovate the property. The team helped me through the process of refinancing which included paying off the private lender and returning cash proceeds to myself. I originally reached out to them back in January 2016. While the home renovation process went slower than expected, the Murgatory team stayed by me the entire time and was always willing to help. Do not let their location prevent you from working with them – everything went smooth even though they are located in Florida and I am in New Jersey. They can handle mortgages all over the country.
