He consistently followed up with his commitments and made sure to walk you through all the steps required to make it a seamless process and at the same time painting a clear picture of everything that would be required from you. This was definitely an A plus experience from the pre-qualification until the closing day. Mike and his team demonstrated high levels of integrity, professionalism, and involvement. I even recall Mike answering questions on December 31st. when we started looking for properties out there. Selecting a mortgage broker is a decision that you have to make sure to get the right person. We feel really blessed that we found Mike and his team in Angie’s list!

Description of Work: Mike and his group have UNQUESTIONABLY AND WITHOUT ANY RESERVATIONS AT ALL, done a fantastic job of taking a completely botched VA home refinancing action, analyzing it for us, and then taking it through all the wickets to a successful refinance/loan approval outcome. And they did that without any changes in the information our previous bank was in possession of. All we had to do was recopy that same information onto Mike's forms. Then, he and his team did the rest in an extremely fast, thorough, and efficient manner. It was all completed in a thorough, professional manner in minimal time. And he also kept us" in-the-loop" at every point along the way. We had pulled the refinancing action away from a federal national savings & loan bank. The bank we believed was playing games with us on our refinancing. They claimed the VA had turned down and refused to accept the appraisal when their Field Auditor "just happened to review it" for the bank. The bank rep said the appraisal was overstated- significantly and there was no way the value of our home could be that high. That was preposterous. The estimated value was based solely on the VA's own appraisal, which in the end turned out to be exactly right. Even after we had gone to the trouble of collecting significant additional appraisal and market value information for this bank (which they also severely criticized as" unacceptable to the VA," and to their underwriter.) To say this was the truth, was unethical. And they continuously attempted to pursue this line of false reporting from the VA and their not accepting the appraisal. This didn't make sense to us, as the VA had selected and paid the appraiser to do the action. Neither the bank or we had any input to the final appraisal. Well. we had never heard of anything like this ever happening before with a VA loan, so, we checked w/ another reputable national real estate company, and also a national lender to see if this was a practice of the VA.. Both advised the VA would not do that when they had their own appraiser do the appraisal for them on a random selection basis. So, then we knew something was very wrong. That being the obvious, we decided to completely terminate the original refinance action and I went to Angie's List for help. There, we found Mike Murgatroy. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Mike and his team. After starting the process all over again, Mike made it work. It was very quick and surprisingly easy. When we saw the "what" and "how" of exactly what he was doing for us, we were convinced the federal bank we were dealing with previously, was unethical. Their actions might even have been fraudulent. Well, we wanted nothing to do with them, other than get the paperwork transferred from them over to Mike (especially the VA file) along with the appraisal and other information. It was like pulling teeth but between Mike and my husband, they got the bank representative to finally do it. Mike had his own group of professionals work with us to fix the totally botched-up refinancing action.They were unstoppable, and unbelievable. They were a great team and proved to be superbly knowledgeable professionals. They were the experts in every single aspect of our refinancing. I can say this in all honesty - from receipt of the paperwork from the other bank through a thorough analysis of the reportedly "unacceptable, overpriced, and sloppy appraisal, right straight through the rest of the refinance and loan approval process. I cannot ay enough for how they treated us and our adverse situation created by the other bank.. We will recommend Mike and his team to everyone we can, and thank you Angie for letting us find him. You also deserve our thanks and praise. Without you we would never have found him and his team, and they sincerely deserve to have all the customers and all the refinancing/loan business they can handle. Description of Work: This company is a mortgage broker, which we used to refinance our home mortgage.

Description of Work: Took them about a week to return my initial call . The first person that I talked to was friendly and helpful and she sent me the good faith estimate. Then she turned me over to the processor who prepared the application and all of the paperwork for the refinance. When I looked over the application and the numbers there were several mistakes. Then I noticed that he added to most of the numbers on the good faith estimate that totalled about $2,000. So I called the lady, whom I had originally spoken with, and she couldn't explain why he had changed the amounts so much. She said she would talk with him and call me first thing the next morning. When I realized (at about 3 pm) the next day she wasn't going to call, I sent her an email to cancel our refinance. She finally sent me an email that evening (6:30 pm) with the numbers changed on the good faith estimate to what they were originally. But, there was never an explanation of the mistakes and never a phone call back. I didn't trust this company enough to go through with such an important transaction. They didn't seem to care enough to even try to explain or apologize for the discrepancies?? I never heard back from them again.

Description of Work: Mike is very professional and helpful. I was shopping around for a refi for my brother-in-law. Left Mike a message and he got back to me. He took his time to explain all the things that I needed to consider (and I did a lot of my hw prior to reaching out to lenders). He offered solid advice. The conclusion is that I was able to get a much better deal through the original lender for the refi. I shared the numbers with Mike and he recommended that I go with the orig lender. In a industry that's similar to auto repair, Mike's one of the few trustworthy and great mechanics around. I have been recommending other friends and family in the area to Mike.
