I called Mike on a Friday evening expecting to hear back on Monday. He called me back immediately, even though he's in a 3-hour later time zone. He and his staff were helpful and encouraging from beginning to end. A process which was overwhelming with another broker became understandable. Our loan went through relatively quickly, and Mike locked the rate at the most favorable time for us in a very volatile market. We were given advice above and beyond the scope of a normal broker. The fact that the company is across the country from us made absolutely no difference. Our loan close last weekend, and we are happy and relieved. Thank you, Mike, Pete, Andrew and everyone.

We had worked with other mortgage brokers, however, they were slow and the interest/closing costs did not impress us. I looked up Mike on Angie's List. I read the reviews. Someone had given him a negative review, however, they did not identify themselves. All other reviews were excellent. I was not impressed by the fact that the complainant had not chosen to identify themself. I called Mike and he responded to our call immediately. He listened to what we were looking for and the process was started quickly. The appraisal occurred in a timely manner and we were on to closing without issue and expeditiously. We closed yesterday. They even arranged for the closing to take place at my husband's office so we did not need to take too much time from work. The representative arrived promptly, was efficient, polite and friendly. Mike called yesterday afternoon to make sure we were pleased with his services and to make sure all had gone well. Both the interest rate and closing costs were excellent. The interest rate was lower than what other brokers had quoted and the closing costs were less as well. I would not hesitate to refer Mike Murgatory. As Corporate Director of Compliance, Quality and Risk for an organization, I am a pretty tough sell when it comes to following rules and customer service. I am very impressed by the service provided by Mike and will refer his name to others.

Do's After deciding my own reasons/goals for refinancing, I got real quotes from 4-5 companies I had reason to feel were reliable. including Angies List, my current mortgage provider, and three others I knew something about. I gave up on the multipurpose internet charts that "might" be able to "provide me their lowest rate ever..." (Who are those guys anyway?!) Also I got sick of getting their calls and emails. Do not let anyone tell you to ignore APR. It IS relevant and comparable. I had all my info in one place, took the time to get it right, and sent what was asked for within 36 hours of the request. I spent time comparing closing attorney's fee, cost and insurance - saved a bit that way. (Best place to start: Who did you prior closing(s)? Often they will offer an existing customer fee.) I would not continue working with any company that couldnt respond promptly or answer my questions. If they dont take your money seriously BEFORE they get it, why are they going to care AFTER?

Mike and his team were just excellent. Fees came in at less than half of the price of other lenders, rate was the lowest I could find. They met all of the dates they promised. They were extremely responsive every step of the way. Exceptionally friendly, excellent customer service. They worked VERY hard to make the entire process go very smoothly. When we had issues with our appraisal, they went over and above to help us find a solution! The VP was involved personally for most of the process as well! I was extremely impressed with EVERYONE I dealt with and for us this is an EXTREMELY rare occurrence! This was an investment property and it is the first of a few we are going to purchase, and I know for sure we will be used Mike and Guaranteed rate for our future mortgage needs! It was a smooth, painless process! True professionals!

It went very well. With everyone trying to get the closing finished before the end of the year and the time being very short, he did a very good job getting everything finished in time for the closing. There were a few phone calls between us but most of the communications were through emails.

Andrew is the best! He is always there to answer any questions you have and explains all the details, making sure you understand them. Being a first-time home buyer and not much aware of all the details that go into that, Andrew really put my mind at ease by providing all the information I needed and all the information I asked about, and made the process very smooth. Excellent response time, especially when it comes to communications via email. I would also like to add that his teammates are just as great and I was absolutely thrilled at the unison they work in and at the amount of care I received concerning my loan - everyone was there all the way and making sure everything goes the way it should. So, that - and - the best rate I could find! No doubts - I absolutely recommend them!

Prompt response to calls and e-mails, very professional, clear expectations. We finally decided not to proceed with the loan and we got a refund of the appraisal fee.

Andrew was a pleasure to work with. He was very knowledgeable and patient in explaining the complexities of the transaction in easy to understand terms. Confident that he got us the best rate. I don't remember the exact cost but it was reasonable and we saved a ton of money compared to our previous mortgage.

Andrew Fishman, who recently joined this company as a vice president, has arranged financings and refinancings several times in past years for my wife and myself as well as for other members of our family and some friends (based on our recommendations). He has always offered better rates than we could get from other mortgage companies as well as lower (or zero) closing costs. And he has always kept his word in giving us what he has promised up-front. This was true once again when we recently refinanced both our principal residence and a rental property. I have recently recommended him to a new colleague at work, and will continue to recommend him to others in the future. The fact that he is in Florida and we are in California has never been a problem; communication by phone and email has been easy and the company has provided prepaid UPS mailing labels when it has been necessary to send documents in hard copy. And closings have been done conveniently by notaries who have come to our house. Andrew appears to work really hard to meet the needs of his clients, responding to inquiries, etc., after regular office hours and at weekends when necessary (at least, in our experience). We appreciate the service he has given us!

Michael made us feel at ease from day one and carefully explained in detail everything that was taking place during our mortgage process. He was always available when we had a question or a concern and his reponse time was comparable to lightning.

They did a fantastic job with the refinance! We liked having different members of the team to talk to us during the process. We had help when we needed it, and they answered all of our questions promptly. We have refinanced a few times through the years, and this was the best and most personal experience we've had!! The loan ended up costing us zero as they got us a great lender credit fee. I have already referred a few people to them. USE THEM - they are the best!

My wife and I hired Mike to help us buy our first home. Being completely new to the home-buying process, we were really impressed with how patient and thorough he was. Mike took the time to walk us through what we could afford before we even started looking, and was available all hours of the day and night to answer questions or respond to last-minute paperwork changes. After a months of searching we finally found our dream home, but the seller wanted us to pay more for the house than it had appraised for and we simply did not have the cash to close. We were blown away when Mike offered to cover the difference with a huge lender credit, essentially waiving the lender fee, and making it possible for us to close the sale! I have asked around since and have never heard of a lender being as generous or responsive and Mike and his team. I thought that maybe we had special treatment, but I recommended Mike to all of my family and friends, and they have all had the same experience. Having Mike on my side really put my family at ease, and I wouldn't ever buy or refinance a home without him!

I was ready to purchase my new home. I shopped many lenders just to try to figure out their current, so-called deals they were offering. All were eager to have me fill out my loan application. However I know from my own past experience that a mortgage broker is not obligated to find the best deal for me. Some brokers look first to how they can make the most profit on their borrower, instead of working to find the borrower (i.e., me) the best deal out there. Everyone I have ever referred to Mike was extremely happy and could not thank me enough for convincing them to contact Mike and his team. I knew it was important to contact Mike Murgatroy early in the process ? just as soon as I knew I was ready to buy. Mike reviewed all my mortgage options with me in detail so I could sort through it all and make an informed decision about what worked best for me. Mike sent me a convenient list of all the documentation required. I knew from past experiences it was important to send Mike all documentation promptly to avoid any surprises in the process. I know Mike has been doing this for at least 15 years. I asked his opinion about when to lock my rate. I took his advice and locked in - just before the rate went up by .75%! (saving thousands over the term of the loan) Thanks again Mike! I have moved several times over the last 7 years and Mike has helped me in 3 different states. It did not matter which state I lived in; Mike helped me just as if I lived locally. Mike made sure all went silky smooth. My schedule is hectic and often scheduling something between 9:00am and 5:00pm is impossible for me. Several months ago, Mike arranged for my closing on an investment property to occur in my home in Virginia, in the evening, at my convenience. Closing costs were the same as on the original Good Faith Estimate and I could not have been more pleased with the rate. From my past experienced (2 purchases and 3 refinances) and all the relatives and friends I have referred to Mike I can attest that Mike is not only a true professional with integrity but also a man of his word. He does what he says he is going to do. He anticipates what might go wrong before closing, so it can be addressed and resolved to avoid any potential delay in closing.

I have owned my home for approximately two years and had financed it at 4.25% interest for a 30 year fixed. As I watched the interest rates go down, I wanted to refinance at the lowest rate possible before the rate started to go back up. I finally decided that if I could get 3.25% interest, with minimum expense, I would go for it. As I would always do before taking on such a venture in the past, I consulted Angie's list and found that noone even came close to the positive reviews that Mike Murgatroy had to his credit. I called his office and got Andrew on the phone. Andrew explained to me that he could get me 3.25% interest for a VA refinance with no points and no closing costs. He was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and professional. I decided to get the process going. Andrew told me that he would lock the rate in and that we would be able to close in 30 days. From that point on, different members of Mike Murgatroy's team, as well as other team players for Guaranteed rate, took over and put together the necessary package to complete the transaction. The communication and accuracy of every facet of the process along the way was nothing less than admirable. They delivered everything that was promised. The closing was exactly 30 days from the date the process was started and there were no surprises. I would like to add that as I logged into Angie's list today, that I noticed that Mike had managed to get an "F" from a recent customer. Compared to his 100+ "A" ratings, it stands out like a sore thumb. I can assure you that based on my experience, it had to be the customer who submitted this off-the-wall rating who was having a bad day. It is unfortunate that his type of thing happens to a first rate, best I have ever dealt with, A+++ organization. Do not hesitate to call these folks if you are thinking of buying a home or refinancing a home. They are awesome!!!

I chose to contact this mortgage company based on their Angies List reviews. Perhaps I just got a bad loan officer. From the start, I felt he was holding back information despite my very direct questions about current interest rates. In fact, he refused to answer my questions. He was also terribly patronizing and condescending and apparently assumed I know nothing about banking (I have an MBA). The package of paperwork I received did not match what I had been told on the phone - the lender credit was missing and the other estimated charges were much higher than was discussed. At that point, I went looking elsewhere and found a much better deal - same interest rate but a considerably lower APR (4.26 vs. the 4.727 offered by guaranteedrate.com). At that point, I emailed the loan officer to let him know I had chosen another lender. I received a testy email response in return asking me for the details of the other deal and complaining about the cost they would incur from having locked a rate on my behalf. He continued to lecture me on how unfair it was of me to switch lenders. He then emailed me two days later with "advice" that he thought would be in my best interest. I would just like to say that everyone in business faces stiff competition these days. This guy needs to grow up.

Peter was professional, responsive, and very dedicated to finding us a lender to support our home purchase. He worked diligently to get a credit mistake taken off of my husband's credit report, and although the process cost the firm - he did not pass the charge onto us, in spite of the fact that we chose to postpone our home purchase. A great experience overall! We will definitely use this firm and Peter for our next home purchase. We highly recommend this firm!

I called Mike Murgatroy's office to get some information on refinancing for my sister. I was doing this as a favor to her as she travels quite a bit in her job and it was difficult for her just to get information on rates, etc. I talked with Andrew Fishman who gave me all the information needed in which to make a decision. I emailed him several times with questions and problems that my sister had. Even though he knew that she was probably going to go with another lending company (because it was closer to her house, and she had already started giving them loan information), he still continued to help us. I just want it noted how professional and caring this company had been with me. Thanks again Andrew.

We couldn't resist refinancing our home again when the rates went toward 3%. Mike Murgatroy and his team (especially Peter) were fantastic to work with! They were all very accessible, which can be unusual in business dealings once the deal makers thing they've sealed the deal with you. These guys were decent, straight shooting, ethical professionals who absolutely went the extra mile to work with us. And they never complained about my sometimes excessive calls or emails to clarify or gather more information! I dealt with Mike initially and he easily made a commitment to us about our rate and started the process of getting all the paperwork done. In the process, we ran into a BIG surprise from our last refinance (mortgage section of one of the mega-banks) -- they had never confirmed the filing of the title to our house with THEIR title company -- that's right, we had no title filed in the county we'd been living in for almost two years since the refinance! This really complicated the work for Mike and his team, and required lots of their time to guide us through getting this worked out with the big bank. (The big bank never even apologized or acknowledged any wrongdoing.) However, Mike and his team stuck to their original commitment and in a matter of weeks when it was all worked out, we STILL had our 2.99% interest rate fixed for 15 years, and with the then current lender's credits, we were able to refinance with no closing costs. I cannot recommend this team enough! If you don't at least give them a try, you could regret it -- they are NOT like the big banks who really don't care and only see you as a number. I promise!

Yes going through a refi is a little bit like going to the dentist. The sheer volume of documents required can be overwhelming (especially if your loan is a jumbo), but in the end the process was well worth it. I highly recommend Mike Murgatroy and Guaranteed Rate. Mike and his team did a truly exceptional job. Mike is a friendly striaght-forward guy who clearly describes the process and patiently answers all of your questions . More importantly Mike really knows how to time the market to get the best possible rate. We essentially put ourselves in his hands and we ended up with a 3.875% rate. Simply amazing.

Mike was amazing throughout the process. I feel a bit guilty that I took so much of his time with my questions as I absolutely needed to understand every little detail. But I see that a lot of my questions were based on an insecurity about the process, and now I've learned that Mike is really a man of integrity who stands by his word and looks out for his clients. I was wonderful to have the experience of working with someone who is a real demonstration of strong values. Definitely not what I expected to find in the mortgage industry. I highly recommend him not only for the great rates, but also for the peace of mind that his team provides. Really amazing.

Refinancing has now become a Byzantine process. At the outset, Mike and his team counseled me that the process will take a few months. Thank goodness. They guided me gently, were available at all times, and kept me abreast of where we were and what was needed. I would definitely recommend Mike and his team for anyone refinancing their home loan.
