They were fantastic in stewarding the process of the mortgage and making sure I got approved at a great rate. It was a lot of work but they were very organized, transparent, and helpful - I would definitely use them again.

I am currently working with Mike on a jumbo loan. Needless to say, it is a very complicated loan with a 30 day close. We have just started the process but I'm thrilled with the experience so far. Mike has been able to prepare for the different scenarios we may encounter. I am looking forward to our closing on Oct. 21st. and updating you on the final results.

First off, I have had horrible experiences with mortgage providers in the past, as I am self employed. The big name banks ask me for all of my information multiple times, ask my boss for stuff, and make the mortgage process a huge headache. This time around, I searched for a top rated person, and I am very glad Angies List pointed me to Mike. Not only was he able to get me financed, but he was also able to do it in an extremely fast time frame. We had a unique situation where we had to ask Mike to cut the time almost in half. He was up front and honest with what he and his team could accomplish and they were able to exceed my expectations. The Guaranteed Rate online system is extremely simple to use... you just upload all of your documents there (ONE time) and Mike does all of the work to get it done...without all the hassles. I 100% recommend giving Mike a call with all of your mortgage needs.

Mike Murgatroy and team just completed a hassle free mortgage refinance for me. First of all they advised the best way to accomplish it given my non-traditional situation, although other mortgage companies claimed it could not be done or it would be onerous. Mike and his team were very good about telling me what to expect along the process and keeping me apprised of where we were, so I never felt in the dark at any time. It was a pleasure to do business with them.

The market is busy right now so the only thing that may slow them down are the title companies and their backlogs. I should have gone with Mike! I talked to Mike but ended up going directly with Wells Fargo since I had already worked with them. But 3 weeks later it turned out they couldn't close the mortgage in time for the closing on the house. When I spoke to Mike initially he was super responsive and helpful, and took time to explain everything to me. If I had gone with Mike in the first place I would have bee moving into the house today, but instead I have to wait. Next time I know who to call!

I haven't reached my closing date yet, but I wanted to share my positive experience so others can make an informed decision on their next home purchase.

He and his team made the re-fi process so easy and pain-free. He helped us initially finance our home purchase and in seven years time we have re-financed twice since then. Super efficient and very trustworthy. Mike found us the best rate and made the process go smoothly and quickly.

Went with this company after looking at reviews, even after hesitations with using an out of state broker. I cannot honestly compare this mortgage refinance to another because this is the first one I have ever done, so my review maybe skewed somewhat from having very little experience with the process but I will give it a shot. The entire process took about a month and a half which is longer than it should be from what I have read on the internet. The closing costs involved were comparable to what I have read people have paid. I liked very much that 95% of your paperwork is done online, almost everything but the final closing signings. There seemed to be a lot of issues that popped up but I am not sure if it was GR's fault or who they were working with as far as appraisal and title handling goes, but it delayed the process. I will say that they worked through the issues and in the end it worked out but I can honestly say that it wasn't the smoothest experience but I am sure that there are usually issues that pop up during these types of transactions. All in All I would recommend this company because they are very professional and courteous when talking with them and they will do everything they can to get you into what you are looking for. I would give them a B- if that were possible.

Although I ended up using another lender that was local, Peter was very professional, personable, and even invited me to check out other companies just to make sure the his team would work best for me. Not many companies would say that and I appreciate him and the company even more for it. If I had not found the local lender through a family member, I would have absolutely used Mike Murgatroy's team. If I need to buy a house or refinance again, I will definitely call them first.

Mike was great! In the initial call he walked me through various options, clearing explaining the process to this first-time homebuyer. He preapproved us and did not pressure us to purchase any product. He recommended and put us in contact with a fantastic real estate agent. He called the sellers of a house we were interested in to reassure them about our financials. And he provided us with a great rate with everything going through smoothly--no last minute requests for documents and everything was ready for closing. It was as good a homebuying process as could be expected, from the financial side, anyway.

Exceptional well - provided all the answers to my questions (quickly), fully explained our best options, and I love how their site allows all the documentation to be loaded and signed easily. Even the closing was awesome- 30mins and the title company guy came to us when it was convenient for us (evening). We are now using them for a rental purchase and our daughter and son-in-law is using them for their new home purchase. Can't say enough about Mike and Rita!

AWESOME. A day before closing, I realized I had to do an investment mortgage instead of a residential mortgage, due to occupancy requirements. With only 10 days leeway, before the contract expired, these guys got it done in five! Seriously, that is amazing. We thought we were going to lose the house. Highly recommend. I've used them five times now, and always beat anyone's rate by .25 points and low cost closing.

I found Guaranteed Rate here on Angieslist. I read the great reviews and I can honestly say that the experience exceeded my expectations. Here's a few highlights: (1) Communication all along the way was fantastic. I got in touch with Mike, he and his team were very responsive all throughout the process via email and phone. Mike walked me through my options and helped me understand what was best for long and short term with using an FHA loan. (2) Price was amazing. I used another mortgage company last year for a home I almost bought but which fell through. Mike Murgatrory Guaranteed Rate was hands down much cheaper. Not only that, but the estimated closing costs came in $1,000 less when the final HUD came out. I was pleased with this to say the least. (3) The whole transaction was smooth. His staff was on point, they all did their job and the closing went super smooth. I live in FL and their office is also in FL, but you would never have known that we were hundreds of miles from one another. If you are looking for a great mortgage rate, great service and a low lender fees, Mike Murgatroy is your guy.

Honestly, I did not plan to write a review at all, since any type of service that requires a significant process is bound to have some issues. Guaranteed Rate (Michael Murgatroy) obviously has such great reviews that my experience must have been the exception, not the rule. Everything actually went smoothly and quickly up to the day of closing. I was told to take a personal check in a certain amount to closing, which I did. However, I was informed at closing that in the state of Texas, amounts over $1000 have to be paid by cashier's check. By that time, as my closing had actually started 4 hours after the scheduled time, it was too late to run to the bank. No problem, they said, I could just wire the funds the next day. So I wired the funds according to the instructions I received. Several days later the title company called wanting to know if I had sent the funds. Of course I had, and told them so. Later that day they found them, in the wrong location's account, as they had given me incorrect instructions for wiring. But could they just transfer the funds from one location to the other? No, I had to wait for the funds to be returned to my account, and then wire them again to the correct one. Ultimately there was no harm done. and my refinance was completed. Fast forward about 6-7 weeks, after my previous loan was paid off and my first payment made. An appraiser called wanting to appraise my home for my refi! What? There must be some mistake, I said. I already had my home appraised, and I closed on the refi over a month ago. The appraiser was as confused as I was, and he called Guaranteed Rate. Later that day Guaranteed Rate called to let me know that the original appraiser was apparently not certified. They wanted to sell my mortgage to Chase, and Chase required a new appraisal. Seriously? After all this, I have to make arrangements to have another appraiser out to my house? I have been told that it doesn't change anything for me. I'm not sure if I believe that at this point. I don't have to pay for the 2nd appraisal. But still, this thing doesn't go away, and there is more hassle to go through. Why didn't Guaranteed Rate call me before the 2nd appraiser called so that I would be aware of the situation? Wouldn't that have made it easier? Texas is probably one of the highest volume states in the country for refinances and new mortgages. If you are going to do business in the state of Texas, you should know the rules. Ever since things got messed up on the day of closing, I have felt that personnel at Michael Murgatroy are overwhelmed with their workload and that is why there has been one mistake after another and no notification to me of something as important as the appraiser snafu. I have successfully used Angie's list multiple times in the past to find providers for various services and have been very happy with the results. I am not happy with this particular service, and I don't understand why mine fell apart so much when there are so many high ratings for this company. It has shaken my faith in Angie's list. If anything else happens as things move forward with the 2nd appraisal, I will be back to update my experience.

We have worked with the Murgatroy team and mostly Peter Doucette. The mortgage process was fast and the team worked around the clock. We were able to lock in a great rate, all mortgage processing fees were refunded with extra $500 credit. I would definitely recommend Murgatroy team to anyone who wants reliable service with best rates guaranteed !

I used Mike's team for a refi over a year ago on another home and they were great. This time, my fiance and I were buying a home together and she wanted to use her mortgage broker she had used in the past. I wasn't crazy about the rates and fees they were providing so I suggested contacting Mike to see what he could do. Mike's team delivered on everything! The rate and fees were fantastic and they delivered on time! Our rate was 4% and we actually got a lender credit reducing closing costs. Considering how busy the market is right now and we had changed from one lender to Mike's team during escrow we are really impressed that they delivered on everything. We will always start our business with Mike any time we need a loan or refi. You'd be doing yourself a disservice if you did not at least contact him and give him a chance to do your financing.

Mike Murgatroy and his team did a fantastic job. They were prompt, efficient, attentive, responsive, and had great rates available with low costs. I have purchased homes and refinanced in the past, and this was one of the easiest I've done, especially since all the changes in the mortgage rules. I would recommend them to all. He's the best!

We contacted several mortgage companies when looking for a mortgage for our second home in Vermont. Mike responded immediately and with a friendly "can do" attitude. The majority of my dealings were thereafter were with loan officer Rita Marie Driscoll although Mike was always available to assist us. Rita was terrific! She was always kind, patient and helpful when guiding us through this nerve wracking process. She never lost her sense of humor while dealing with our many emails and phone calls. The other staff members we had occasion to deal with, Richard, Monica and Connie, were all equally helpful. Buying a second home out of state can be especially trying but not only did they provide great service, we were also able to secure a 30 year mortgage with 10% down. I was not able to find an offer like that anywhere else! Our lawyer made the comment at closing that because of Guaranteed Rate, our closing went very smoothly.
