The lady who answer the phone was really nice and amazing seller, she took $100 deposit from me and promised the technician would be there shortly. Great seller, because I was about to go and look for other quotes but she didn’t let me go. Technician showed up to the project and the job was done super fast and neat. + -1 moreExcellent. I called Patty at Joe Hillman Plumbers who scheduled someone between 11 and 2. Alex showed up at noon. He gave me an estimate which was accepted and he began to work. The initial repair was to have been a simple repair of the PVC pipe that was cracked and leaking. After digging up the leaking section of pipe it was discovered that two previous repairs and the County Water Department replacement of the water meter created a hodge podge of sleeves, adapters, and slip joints that would be vulnerable in the future. It was mutually decided to replace that section back to the meter with around two feet of copper pipe. As a handyman who knows something about plumbing but who is getting too old to make strenuous repairs, I watched as Alex properly prepared each of the joints and made the new connections. He completed the job and tested the line before filling the hole and replacing the sod. With all the additional work involved ,beyond what was to have been included in the original estimate, I was pleasantly surprised with the final bill. I highly recommend Joe Hillman Plumbers.

While job ended up being much bigger than we originally thought, he kept me posted every step of the way and showed me clearly where the problems were. Description of Work: I hired Joe Hillman to install an electronic water valve for home insurance discount purposes. A week after the valve and the plumbing were installed, on Dec 22nd, the pipe coupling split open, end-to-end. The broken coupling was before the electronic valve, so nothing the valve can do to stop the leak. Joe Hillman sent someone to work on restoring water supply at 10 at night, just as I returned from a week-long trip. It was a lot of hassle and inconvenience. The cleanup alone was already taking too much of my little time left for the Holidays. The Holidays wasn’t really the perfect timing. I couldn’t find people to hire to clean up. So I had to do it myself. The nightmare didn’t end there. The busted coupling pipe, out of poor workmanship, caused a massive high pressure water damage to my garage. The high pressure water hit my entire floating cabinets for storage. While the contents of the cabinets were largely spared. The cabinets, including the interiors were not spared. The cabinetry is floating to begin with because they are bot water-proof. The farther portion of the cabinetry was not affected (that portion is not really for storage, only to conceal AC handler and tankless water heater). My $300 Nest camera close to the leak was my first alert to the leak. It short-circuited and died 30 mins after initial water exposure. Electronics close to the busted pipe were damaged, too. With all the water sprayed on the cabinets, come flooding in the garage, of course. Seasonal decors and that were not installed inside the house were left in the garage. Empty boxes for the seasonal decors installed inside the house were easily destroyed by the flood. The total damage as I estimated was over $15,000 (including replacement of the entire cabinetry to match everything). I spent $8,700 for the storage cabinetry alone, not including the non-storage part of the cabinetry, back in 2015. Joe Hillman’s insurance covered <$8,500. Citing they will only cover the damaged portion with depreciation. Sure it can replace a portion of the damaged part, but will no longer match the surviving, undamaged portion of the cabinetry. To replace the entire thing, I had to spend out of pocket. The entire cabinetry looks in mint condition before this misfortune. The other things damaged by the water were not considered. The $300 Nest IQ camera. The damaged decors themselves were $425 a piece (Neiman Marcus decors are not cheap) and some slightly less expensive decors were also among the casualty. I had brand new things in the garage that were supposed to be donated and were unfortunately among the damages. The empty cardboard boxes to replace the damaged ones (I need new boxes to store the seasonal decors after Christmas) plus shipping in already over $600 from ULine. The 4 chairs stored in the garage were also damaged and would have easily cost $500 in today’s prices ($250 a piece when I bought them in 2017). Overall, I would be very wary and hesitant to hire this contractor. I thought it was not done properly. The coupling pipe was really thin as I can see when it split end-to-end. At the end of the day, I lost a lot of time, too much hassle and inconvenience, and I was not properly compensated. Of course I will have to spend more money now, which I’m so unfortunate to have hired this contractor.

+ 0 moreThe water heater, which was a "young" ten-years-old Rheem 50 gal. unit (which was installed by Joe Hillman Plumbing, in 2010!) was beginning to heat water less effectively and for a lesser time per usage, befitting its age and the fact that Southern Florida's water is full of particulate matter and in addition, has a high pH due to its high calcium content (as we live on limestone), and also has a very high iron content (which is a staining mineral.) These minerals are NOT a heating element's best friend and the first sign of its age is a reduction in quantity of hot water and a reduction (eventually) in the temperature of the hot water. When the old elements were removed, both had years' worth of mineral scale and a "limestone jacket" up and down the entire lengths of these original heating elements. I could imagine that our monthly electricity costs have been elevated too, in a way that was gradual, but over time, became quite significant!! Today Alex flushed my system, and replaced both upper and lower heating elements. BTW: I opted to not purchase a new water heater because the cost difference would be quite a bit. If I was planning on living in this home, however more than the two years or less that we will live here, I would recommend a new water heater (that would have a substantially longer warranty from the manufacturer.) At any rate, these 2 new elements in place, along with the needed system water flush, provided hotter and higher pressured water than we have experienced in a good while. I would recommend using Joe Hillman Plumbing, for your home and commercial needs without reservation, at all. Alex C. was extremely professional, efficient, and neat. He explained the process thoroughly, and was truly a joy to work with this 02-05-2020! It's truly comforting for me to know that after using Joe Hillman Plumbing for almost 25 years, they are still the best in the business here, in the Greater Boca Raton-Ft. Lauderdale-Miami Metro area!! I have been always, and am still extremely satisfied with this company's work ethic, its performance, and its pricing. Joe is my #1 in plumbing, here in So. Fla.!! P. + -1 moreCalled, Patty was very nice on the phone but she insisted on a $79 fee to send someone out. Next day they sent Alex, nice guy, who obviously had never seen this particular toilet model. Somehow, after much tinkering, the unit seemed to work....for about 30 minutes. Called again to say it was NOT FIXED, they sent Alex again the next morning, who changed the last remaining part that had not been replaced by me earlier. No results, still NOT FIXED. After the first visit I had paid Alex another $125, thinking that my trouble was resolved, but the job was ultimately not done. So I am out $200, with a promise that a supervisor will look at the unit again this week, but on the premise that I might have to pay for his visit AGAIN! Of course, I have not heard from the alleged supervisor, or the office staff again. They seem very professional, and they have good marketing tools, but they are all about very high charges and running away from a problem when they cannot resolve the issue. NEVER AGAIN.
Description of Work: Fix a leaking toilet. Toilet was sophisticated, low flow electronically triggered, but I was assured that they know all American Standard models well and could fix anything.

Six hose bibs at different locations around the perimeter of my home. It was amazing to watch how they found paths to each of the locations. I stayed in my home during the project. They kept two systems going the whole time to keep me with water. This company passed inspection in Davie with flying colors. They know their stuff!!
