"Fraudulent company. First of all, most of the reviews I've read here are from people who just signed up and haven't actually filed a claim. These individuals are in for a rude awakening when they file their first claim. I would rate this company 0 stars. Why would a company set up for the sole purpose of defrauding its customers by stealing their money and denying every single claim deserve even 1 star? On my first claim with the company, I had a washing machine that was less than 3 years old. It had an internal seal that failed, allowing water to leak into the transmission, causing the appliance to fail. Home Safe claimed there was rust inside the appliance, as if that would be some kind of neglect on my part, and refused to pay. After dealing with several people and managers in the company, I was eventually able to get them to pay the claim. I should've canceled then, but I foolishly stuck with them. A few months later, my water heater went out. The claim was submitted on a Saturday, and I was able to get the plumber out that same day. I found the plumber, not Home Safe. The estimate was submitted that evening. I received an email asking for more information on Monday, which was promptly responded to and sent in that same day. Their own policy is to approve the claim within 24 to 48 hours. I never heard back from anyone, so I called back several times over the course of the workweek. I was told the adjuster had either left early or had not come into work yet. When the adjuster finally called me on Thursday just before 5 pm, he actually straight up lied to me. He told me that he had requested additional information on Monday after receiving my email. He said he left a voicemail with me and the plumber. Neither one of us had any missed calls from the adjuster. He said he needed to know what caused the tank to rupture and precise pictures of the crack in the tank showing the leak. Anyone who knows anything about a water heater knows that once the tank ruptures, no plumber in their right mind would attempt to disassemble the water heater and repair the leak or determine where exactly it cracked. But that is exactly what the adjuster at Home Safe expected to happen. He said that without a reason why the tank ruptured and precise pictures of the leak location, he could not approve the claim. Why did lightning strike the transformer down the street and cause my power outage? Were you able to get pictures of the lightning striking the transformer at that precise moment in time? The only satisfaction for me at this point would be to hear the entire company burned to the ground and that their insurance company denied the claim because they could not show a precise picture of the wire that shorted and a reason why it shorted."

Although not every state issues licenses for roofing pros, it's important to check with your county or city if hiring a licensed roofing contractor is necessary.
Hiring an unlicensed roofer might result in low-quality work and potential legal issues if an accident happens. It’s always best to check the qualifications and licenses of your roofer before they begin a project.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

The cost to replace your roof is often significantly more expensive than the cost to repair it. On average, homeowners will spend between $5,890 and $12,800 to replace a roof. The size of the roof, the roof’s pitch, and the number of stories the house has will significantly affect the overall cost. You can expect to spend upwards of $46,000 for large, high-end roofs.

This all depends upon size, type and complexity of the actual sloped areas of the roof. An accurate estimate with detailed lists of covered and additional items is imperative when purchasing and protecting yourself during the process.

Typical roofing repairs cost between $380 and $1,800 on average. However, most homeowners spend approximately $1,100 on a roofing repair project. The size of the roof, the extent of the damage, and the type of project all impact the final cost. External factors like product availability and supply chain issues may also affect the price.
Projects like repairing damaged gutters will only be around $180 to $560, whereas repairing a sagging roof will be a higher expense at $1,500 to $7,000.

Roof repairs start at around $700.00 and go up from there. There are many significant factors that come into play, and each customer's needs will rarely be the same.

All damage is different. I would recommend getting three quotes broken down by labor and materials.

Repair costs in this area are around $1,500.
Answered by Fidel Cruz at C39 Roofing in San Marcos, CA on 01/07/25
Repair costs are affected by geographic location such as ice & water underlayment requirements in the North and hurricane durability requirements in the Southeast. Other things that affect the cost are quality of materials, layers of tear-off, condition of the decking, and the style and pitch of your roof. Ask contractors to explain their price if they are higher, they are likely being more honest about what the replacement requires.

Before hiring a roofing contractor to work on your project, there are a few things you will want to ask, including:
Do you use roofing subcontractors?
Do you offer a warranty?
Do you have any references?
How will you clean up after the project is complete?
Will you remove my old or damaged roof?

How long should this product last in my area and does the manufacturer stand behind the product for that length of time?
What is the difference between manufacturer and contractor warranty?
Do you have any references?
Answered by Scott Perkins at Strive Roofing in Mesa, AZ on 01/07/25
Will you remove my old or damaged roof?
Will the roof you install be warrantied against black streaks?
Will the roof you install last as long as the warranty? Or will it only last about half as long?
Answered by Tracy Badra at Community Construction in Lansing, MI on 01/07/25
Does your company have multiple locations? This will let you know if they are truly local or a large company briefly working your area after a storm.
Do you offer a workmanship warranty? Confirm in writing the time length and details of such warranty.
Do you have quality reviews? All roofing contractors have references of their successful jobs. Good contractors won't have many negative reviews.
How will you protect our windows, siding and landscaping?
Will you remove my old or damaged roof?
Some disqualifying signs to look for are:
-Did the contractor cold call or knock on your door?
-Does the contractor look or talk like a salesman?
-Does the contractor have profiles on many different websites? Poor contractors will avoid an online presence to avoid bad reviews.

Roofing is a highly skilled and labor-intensive trade. Because of this, you can expect to pay an average of $2 per square foot for your roofing professional. Roofing labor costs generally make up about 60% of the overall project cost.
