One gentleman worked really well and speedy. The second man was extremely slow therefore everything did not get accomplished that was on the list.

The crew started on Monday, 24 February 2014. They removed trees and other plants and started digging, clearing a space in front of the basement wall. Digging was slow, due to soggy ground. They returned over the next four days, in spite of snow and freezing temperatures, exposed the wall, sealed it and put the dirt back. They also dug the trench in front of the house and filled it with gravel. I paid in stages, as we discussed. Later, the boss came back to tell me about some items that were not installed properly, which would be repaired at no charge.

went through Angie's list. My bathroom is beautiful now. The provider arrived on time, very pleasant, professional, hard working-he had to be to correct that mess. He was shocked at the workmanship of the caulking and gout that was done. He assured me that he would correct that it and fix it the way I wanted and that I would be pleased with the outcome. Not only was I pleased, I could not and have stopped smiling. The person that did the work was named John, he cleaned up after himself leaving my bathroom looking fantastic and clean, and beautiful.

The gentleman that did the work was here for 4 hours and was just outstanding. They did more than I expected.

It was amazing! Where do I begin...first, The estimate. He was on time and called me 10 minutes before he arrived. Ten minutes later, he was at my house. He took his time reviewing everything I needed done with me, and was kind and courteous through all of my ramblings about this and that. He engaged me in relevant conversation about his company, his ethical practices, the services he outsources and his love of animals; which to me is critical! he has a pig, a parrot, a rescued turkey, and a beautiful chocolate cockerspaniel puppy with blue eyes..how adorable! Let me digress. My chihuhua bit him on his pants leg when he arrived, and he graciously let it go and even tried to bond with my "little brat" before he left! How can you not love an animal lover! Did I mention the fact that he is angler and loves the outdoors! Back to the basics...so after taking his time going over everything that needed repairing, he set a date to come out. I would not be home, but I trusted this man enough to allow him access to the inside of my home to do the job while I was at work, with my dog in the house secured in my room; I have never done this before. For whatever reason, I trusted this man, and I trust no one, ever!! So, three days later, he was at my house getting the job done. The job: He called me at work while he was in the house explaining to me what he was doing and what he had done. He gave me a quote that was surprisingly low, so in all good conscious, I payed him more. He called me again when he completed the job and let me know that while my water worked, the hot water was not coming on because it needed a new thermocouple. He came back that evening as he said he would and put it on. This contractor is a gift. Treasure him.

Overall I was very pleased. There was a bit of confusion on the scheduling due to his phone scheduling system not working properly, but we spoke and were able to clarify and set another date and time. Very happy with the job that Mike did. Very professional and knowledgeable. Will definitely use this company again for any future handyman services.

Because of increasing migraines, I had the company come out to do a mold test for a suspected leak from a shower stall into the space between the floor and the ceiling that had been taken care of two years ago (no mold was visible). They did a baseline air test just outside the front door, then two air tests - one in the bathroom and one in the living room directly below the upstairs bathroom. The tests were sent to a certified lab and I received the results from the lab about a week or so later indicating the presence of three different kinds of mold at higher levels than outdoors. One complaint is that there were no ranges to compare to as a way of understanding how "bad" the mold situation was. Mike is really busy and will always answer your phone call, which is good and bad because he may answer in the middle of his current meeting. After a couple of reschedules because of winter weather and schedules (I had to remind him that we needed to close the loop on the testing), Mike came back to sit down and explain the results and possible remediation and quoted an estimate of around $1,500. In the meantime I had two other companies come out to give me estimates for the remediation. Because no mold could be seen, a lot of it was guess work and an understanding that no one would know until we got up into the space. It ran the gamut from "these levels aren't very high, you don't HAVE to do anything about it," to "it could be extensive, you would start at at least $1,500." Designing Renovations came in in the middle and I decided that I wanted to have it taken care of so I had Designing Renovations come out to do the remediation. It isn't Mike that comes out to do the work but one of his teams. The team that came out to do the work arrived very close to the 8:30am start time, and was very professional and courteous bringing all the materials needed to create a plastic sheeting confined area while they cut a hole ( approx. 30" x 60") in the ceiling to find out how extensive the mold damage was. Turns out, the mold barely covered a square foot area, so the clean up only took a day, not the two days assumed in the original estimate. The team was able to clean it up, apply the cryocide (sp?) to kill everything. They left to let it dry with an air purifier while they picked up the materials needed to replace the ceiling. They came back that afternoon to finish up and were done by 4pm-ish. The final cost of the remediation was about $875 which included labor and the cost of the materials, which they give you the receipts for. If you know what to look for, you can tell where the work was done in the ceiling, and there are a couple of spots where the textured stucco didn't adhere to the drywall that I need to figure out how to fix now that it's completely dried. But repainting it is not necessary.

Everything went very well. Scheduling process was great and they were able to get everything done that we asked. We were even scrambling to find other things for them to do because they were finished early.

We did not use this company. It was in our top two choices and the other company won by a slight margin on price.

Subsequent to water over-flow from a second story, repaired holes in the first-floor's and basement's ceilings, painted the repaired areas, replaced baseboards, and tiled the second-story bathroom.

Never made an appointmewnt or refunded my prepaid BIG DEAL.

Mike passed on his discount he received from the tile company to me, he kept me informed, and sent me pictures of his progress. He did a great job with the bathroom remodel, and I will definitely be contacting him in the future for more work.

Everything went as scheduled. The workers were professional, on time and did a good job. I should have received an initial estimate in writing because there was some confusion about total price of the job on the day the work started. This was resolved in a quick and professional manner. Assuming no more roof leaks, I have no hesitation about recommending their services.

I was never actually able to speak with this provider. I left nearly 25 messages and never received a returned call. Thanks angie.

I ordered the service on 11/10 and scheduled for Designing Renovations to come to the home to perform the work on 11/14. However on 11/14, they indicated they had some unforeseen issues and rescheduled for 11/19. On 11/19 the handyman observed the partial floating floor that I had begun, indicated that it was done incorrectly and that in order for the work to be performed they would need to take up the floor, level the floor and then install. The barriers to that were that there 3 large items in the area that are unable to be removed. I indicated that I thought what they were indicating was unrealistic as they informed me that it would be a 3-4 day process, which is clearly more than what the coupon was for. Also, concerned that a floating floor would require a level surface...it's a floating floor.

I called because I had black mold growing in the ceiling of my downstairs bathroom. I suspected that the mold was from something in the upstairs bathroom leaking, but I was having trouble finding someone who would take care of the mold and fix the plumbing at the same time. This was the fourth or fifth place I called and the first that would fix both. He came on a Sunday to look at the mold and scheduled service for a week later. A team of two men came out and replaced the ceiling downstairs and the subfloor upstairs, and then when we noticed more mold in the downstairs bathroom one of the men returned for an extra two days to replace that subfloor and lay new tile in both bathrooms. They put down plastic on the carpet and taped off the rooms they were working in before they started, and they cleaned everything up before they left. I was impressed that they were so accommodating even though the job was larger than they thought, and I'd definitely use them again.

Mike contacted me promptly on the Wednesday following my purchase on Monday. He was able to schedule two of his team members to come out to my house on a day I was scheduled to work from home. They arrived on time, and immediately got started. I had a very long list of projects including two large drywall patches (one on a ceiling). I made sure to have supplies ready at the house for them when they arrived and they had all the tools they needed to do the job. I had the Angie's List special for 8 hours of work, so they were to do 4 hours a piece. My jobs took a bit longer, but the extra hour only cost an additional $90. They did a fantastic and professional job. They were friendly, worked hard, and cleaned up all their mess. I am incredibly pleased by what they were able to get done, and the amount of time they did it in. Supplies cost me an additional $100, which I bought myself prior to their arrival. So for a total of $500 was able to get a dozen items fixed that I didn't have the time or skill to do. Also, the one team member, John, noticed our sink stopper was installed wrong and fixed it in seconds. While that wasn't on the list, I appreciated the general attention to detail. I would gladly use Design Renovations again for future projects.

I contacted Mike prior to purchasing the special for additional information. I purchased the special on 3/28/2013 and the work was scheduled for 4/26/2013. When Mike called to schedule, he asked me to take pictures and send him list of what I wanted done. He would then advise what materials I needed to purchase prior to his arrival. He also advised that he would bring another person to work with him in order to complete the work in 4 hours as he had another appointment at 3:30 p.m. on 4/26. He said I was getting 8 hours of work with 2 people. That sounded reasonable. Based on this, I figured both would be working simultaneously to ensure all the work was completed. I purchases all materials as requested; he did not tell me to purchase caulk, which luckily I did prior to his arrival. On the evening of 4/25/2013, Mike call me about a scheduling conflict for the next day and wanted to reschedule. I explained the work need to be completed on a Friday. He advised he had nothing open on until June. Given that I had paid for the service 4 weeks prior, I was not interested in waiting another 4 weeks, so I requested a refund. Mike then agreed to be there on the 26th as scheduled. Mike and Heidi showed up on time. Mike is very personable and knowledgeable. He removed and installed the storm door first. He repaired the kitchen base cabinet. Heidi then mixed the Sand 20 to repair the french door overhead. Mike told me to purchase this so it would dry quick. Mike started removing the old caulk in the master bathroom. As they only had caulk tools for one person, only on person could remove the caulk at a time. Mike added another layer of mud above the door while Heidi removed caulk. Mike did all the caulking. Mike did most of the work; Heidi was essentially a runner/gopher. They finished in 4 hours. I asked if he was sanding the repair over the french door and he said it needed to dry at least 8 hours. Why then did I have spend $ on a 5 lb bag of fast-drying mud when I could have used the mud I already had? I requested that it be sanded on my list of items and even painted if time allowed. Mike also informed me that he had a 3:30 tee time to play golf that afternoon. Distance from his home to mine is approximately 35 miles. My impression was that Mike didn't want to lose the business so he came and gave me the 4 hours with 2 people that he promised. Had Mike been by himself he most likely would have had the repairs done within 5-6 hours. I am disappointed that I paid for 8 hours of work and still have to sand ( and paint) the area mudded myself. I didn't express my disappointment to him at the time, because he seemed in a hurry to leave to meet his tee time. Even though the caulk work he performed was good, I've had issues with the new storm door. I'm not sure I'd use him again. He gets rave reviews on Angie's list, which is why I chose him. Hopefully my experience was an exception to the "A rating" rule.
