Services we offer
Heating & Air Conditioning - Sales, Repair, Installation, & Tune-Ups. Air Duct Sealing.
They first did an audit and they were able to show us, not just tell us, how much volume of air we were loosing from loose joints in our ducts in our 10 year old house. They arrived on time, worked without any breaks and finished the job in one day. They cleaned up before leaving. We have noticed a difference in the efficiency of our heating and air conditioning system already. It maintains the thermostat temperature without running as long.
Description of Work: We had Bay Area apply Aeroseal to all our duct work.

Two problems with unit, high electric bill and the new ducts leaking. Salesman lied to underbid competitors. I was pricing and was told I was buying a complete Carrier Infinity System, they installed a Performance Heat Pump instead of the Infinity heat pump which saved them around $1000. Installation day, nobody knew what they were supposed to be doing. They dismantled the old unit and took it with them. When questioned about it their guys said it is of and quot;no value now because we cut it apartand quot;. Their work order did show they were to leave old unit but did not show the new lines or cover which was on the contract. All duct modifications they did, leaked. Bay Area came back to my home over 25 times to work on this unit and/or the ducts they installed. They changed settings on the controller to adjust how and when the unit would run, no help. Leaking ducts caused condensation on the outside and inside of the ducts they installed. They finally removed everything and reinstalled it-and quot;the right way!and quot; It still wasn't right. Several joints were left wide open and some were not taped and sealed with mastic, this after numerous trips out for the same problem. My electric bill went up after having this and quot;Energy Efficientand quot; unit installed. Their excuse was I must be doing something to raise my electric bill. I finally spoke to the owner, what a piece of work he is! I can't believe he is still in business. On one of their trips to seal their leaking ducts, the power steering pump went out on one of their vans and I had a large puddle of power steering fluid running down my driveway. They attempted to and quot;Aerosealand quot; my ducts. What a mess. They pump a glue substance through the ducts with the thought it will build up where the ducts leak and seal the leak. Well, they block off all vents and returns to keep this glue substance in your ducts. Not once, BUT TWICE, the piece they blocked one of the returns with, fell out, filling my home with this glue substance! TWICE!!! NOT PROFESSIONAL! One trip, their service guy removed the electric panel cover, when he went to reinstall it, he used a different screw in the cover and ran it into one of the wires inside of the panel box . So I had to call an electrician to fix that problem. Our first cold spell I was out of town and my wife and kids were home. Temps dropped into the 40's. The heat worked for a short time then went out, UNIT WAS DEAD, NO HEAT, NOTHING! I called Bay Area, the next day they sent someone to fix it. The problem was the electrical connection was not tight in the air handler and melted the wire nut, luckily there was no fire! I contacted Carrier directly, they were going to send a factory tech, then decided they couldn't, then he was on vacation, then he wouldn't schedule afternoon appointments, so Carrier was NO help, they stood by the installer! After 11 1/2 months we decided it was time to have the system remove. Thats right, in the middle of the summer, we had to have it removed before the one year buy back guarantee was up. Most, not all, of the employees that came out were polite and prompt. A couple seemed to know what they were doing, some just talked in circles to confuse the issues. Most, obviously had no idea what they were doing because they were not sealing joints, tightening wire nuts, charging system with proper amount of refrigerant ( it had to be adjusted several times, one would say its too high, another would say its too low), sealing ducts before before pumping glue through the lines. The salesman lied, then stood behind his scribbled note on the contract. Carrier and Bryant are built by the same people, per all the techs from Bay Area, all the equipment is the same, just has a different name attached to it. I had the same air handler and heat pump installed by a Bryant dealer, with the Bryant name on the equipment, my electric bill is back to what is was before Bay Area touched my house. RUN from these people. They are too large to care about you, they are too large to monitor their own employees. They try to blame others for their mistakes. They insisted from day one that there is NOTHING wrong with their unit. I spent $500 to buy a monitoring device to track the energy used by the heat pump and air handler just to prove to Bay Area there is a problem, other than duct leaks. In addition to the poor installation, there was a problem with the actual unit. Bay Area should have just pulled it and replaced it!
Description of Work: They were to removed my old 3 1/2 ton heat pump, cap the lines and leave it on site. They were to install a 4 ton Carrier Infinity system that used the new refrigerant. They were to rebuild the supply plenum and tie in existing lines, rebuild the stand the air handler sets on, rebuild the return duct, enlarge one of my 3 existing air returns. They were to run new electric from my panel to the air handler, new refrigerant lines from air handler to heat pump, new cover over lines and wiring on side of house. New slab for heat pump to set on. I had a 200 amp panel box installed 6 months prior in anticipation of the new air conditioner.

From the day I had them install the unit they have done a very good job. One time I scheduled service and they had to cancel on the date I requested but I had no problem with that because they gave me plenty of notice and in fact it worked to my advantage. I would use them again. They have always done a good job for me they and seem to be very honest.

Our experience with Bay Area was 100%. We had a evaporating coil leak on our 5 1/2 year old system and was told by another company that it would cost $4700 to repair with a one year warranty on that part only. We did call a few A/C companies in the area and also Bay Area. The salesman came to our home, showed us our options and the cost for each. Told us about the rebates and their service contract. We made the deal that day without any signature or money down. We were given a date for replacement as Aug 13th. They came, took out the old system, replaced with a new higher seer unit and and air cleaner. They had instructed us before they arrived to turn down our old A/C so our home would stay comfortable, which it did. By 2:00 that afternoon, the new unit was up and running and we have found a $50 a month reduction to our electric bill. OUr new unit has a ten year warranty and we also have a 10 year service contract from the company as well. We paid by a personal check once the system was installed. The unit was inspected by the county and given an okay. We have been told other companies do not call in the county for inspection. Any calls to the office are promptly returned and answers given whenever necessary. Overall this was a very good experience and I would recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: Replace our A/C system with a new one and also a new air cleaner.

They are the best in the area. I like to have them come out twice a year to clean everything, they say I only need it once a year. I only do it when they have the discount for $69 it usually costs $109 so it saves me. If I don't see the special I don't get it done. They installed a new air conditioning pump for me about 7 years ago. I usually get the same guy that comes out. They are always right on time and they are very professional. They come, do their work and then leave.

The company proactively contacted me to schedule the appointment after seeing my purchase. However, almost immediately she called me back and asked if I was with a particular power company. I said I was and she informed me that it would actually be less expensive to ask for the same service through that power company! That kind of honesty pleasantly surprising!

One tech was on call on a Sat. night so response time was longer than I was told but still not too bad. Was sold an extra part for $165 which could have been cleaned rather than replaced.
Description of Work: Burned out capacitor was replaced. Also was told a switch ($165) was badly burned and needed to be replaced. I kept the part and looking at it later, realized it only needed to be cleaned.

Response from Bay Area Air Conditioning Inc
The ‘switch’ was a contactor that had no continuity through the points. Cleaning the points may establish continuity but is not normally a reliable long-term fix. The better more reliable fix is to replace the contactor. A contactor with poor continuity will cause voltage drops, which will cause other more expensive components to fail. The repair made is the commonly accepted procedure. The repairs made by Bay Area have a two-year warrantee.

Over all the tech showed up on time and was at my home for about one hour. Description of Work: my AC was not blowing as cool as it had been. I was quoted a price of $79.00 to do the diagnistics. The problem was apparently the unit just needed a good cleaning, which brought the cost up the $168.00. I felt that this was too high for the amount of work that was provided and the fact that no parts were needed. The work was done fiarly quickly, but the tech was not particulary professional. He complained about the distance to my home and chain smoked cigarettes while he did the wqork.
