Top Notch Electric

The job itself was very good but I paid for it on fifth of December and I didn’t get it done until right before Christmas. I kept calling him, he said he would get back to me and then I made an appointment and he didn’t show up. So I called him and asked him what the problem was and he said he was out of town and his nephew was supposed to be handling the work but I heard nothing from him. His service wasn’t exactly the best but the job was good however, I would not use him again. He added on a lot of extra things to the big deal price. He said two lights would be replaced in that price and it wasn’t. The big deal was for $99 and he did charge an extra $60 because he did put in a recess light because it was an older one. I wasn’t really expecting the extra amount I had to pay. It looked okay when it was done but I wasn’t happy. The work was good; I just didn’t like all the extra cash he wanted and the carryon with trying to get into the house. Even though he didn’t show up and he didn’t call me, he always answered his phone, so he always responded.

They did a great job and cleaned up after themselves.

Purchased deal and was informed by angieslist that provider is going to get back to me in 2 days. I received no communication and after waiting 1 week finally got worried about it - called provider with no response or calls back. Next day provider finally answered call and informed me that it's going to be about 2 more weeks until I can schedule service. Week of my time wasted and I've been dealing with relatively time sensitive issue. Provider must disclose in a deal that wait time is 2-3 weeks - so people like me would not waste time.

Never contacted me or returned my call.

I will be canceling the order. I guess they took on too much work.

They did very good. It ended up being a wiring problem in the attic and they had to move around some insulation. All of the mess was cleaned up nicer then when they came. I felt safe after they left and my kitchen light worked! The gentleman was not feeling well, but still made sure he made this call. I would recommend them.

It took a little bit of time to get an appointment scheduled with Bill. I think many "Deal" providers have a similar problem in that they are overwhelmed with appointment requests within a short period of time. At any rate, once we scheduled, Bill and a colleague arrived on time and got to work. They fixed a snafu in my electrical panel that has been a problem for me since I moved into this house almost three years ago. The fuse in the breaker box was not a fuse intended for this particular box. If this is the fix I will be very, very happy as this has driven me crazy for years! Also when I spoke to Bill about another issue he indicated to me the likely cause which I will test out. Bill ran to the store for the appropriate fuse and all the outlets in my workshop including the overhead light are working fine. They were in and out of my house within an hour and that included a trip to the store. Both men were professional, courteous and competent. I will definitely use Top Notch again.

This was a"Big Deal' option for two hours of electrical work. Everything went well!! Great work/professional/ good work ethic!! Would hire them anytime!

I tried to schedule an appointment four times with Top Notch. The first attempt was through email and I gave three dates that I'd be available. I got no response back within the time frame of two days as stated. I made a total of three phone calls after no email response. The first two calls no appointment could be made because he said he was very busy and he didn't have his pad in front of him. Both times he said he would call me back, but he never did. The last call I made went to voice mail and by this time I was too frustrated to deal with this company again.

Purchased 11/5, contacted again on 11/8. Never a response.

It was a horrible experience. I had purchased the coupon to have a ceiling fan installed. I contacted the company and the gentleman said he would call me back. He did not call back. I called again 2 days later and he said he would call me back. He did not call back. I called him 2 days after that on a Friday and he said he would schedule for Wed. of following week from 10:00 to 12:00. I called on Tues., the day before the appointment, to verify I was on the schedule, and he said I was not on the schedule. He then scheduled me for Friday. I took off Friday morning to be at home for the 9:00 appointment and at 8:30 received a phone that there was a family emergency and he would not be there but would contact me on Monday to reshcedule--that Monday was a week ago and still no contact. I contacted Angie's List and they sent him an email to contact me to schedule. He has not responded. Horrible service from a horrible company. If his customer service is this bad, then his actual services are probably terrible. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS COMPANY.

I hired them through their angie's list deal of 2 hours work for $99. Adding the outlet where I needed it required a run back to the main panel, so it took a little longer than the 2 hours included, however the work was done efficiently and I wasn't surprised that it took more than the 2 hours. It was done on time, they showed up when expected, were professional and I am very pleased with the results.

Initially it was a problem, there was a difficulty for us making contact with each other and then I didn't feel that the owner of the business was interested in really discussing what I wanted done. He just immediately told me that he couldn't do what I asked for in the allotted time frame. We had more than one conversation and I finally said to him that I felt that he didn't want to do the job and he immediately changed his tone of voice and said he did and we finally scheduled it. He sent 2 men to work together for 2 hours to get the job done, I wasn't there at the time that the job was done but my boyfriend said they did a fine and fantastic job. I think that he might have done that because he was afraid that I was going to complain about his service. Eventually it did work out, the job was done and done right. The work was good when it finally got done and everything got resolved.

Spoke with contractor by phone several weeks before scheduling appointment. When discussing the 2 non-working bathroom ceiling fans he stated that it was possible that the fans might only need to be reactivated. I appreciated that he shared this fact that I took as a sign of an honest contractor. Contractor arrived on time. Once on-site, contractor spoke to me by phone to confirm "to-do" list discussed previously and to get verbal permission from me in the event that costs for labor or parts extended beyond the"$99.00 for 2-hrs" Angie Special. My sister was on-site with contractor at the time. He provided estimates of possible ceiling fan replacement vs. motor re-build, etc. so that I could know "worst case scenario" just in case. As it turned out one fan simply needed to be reactivated. The 2nd fan was more of a mystery- -a mystery that the contractor was able to solve during the process to get it to work. He discovered that the home inspector had reported the fan as "non-working" because he failed to notice the two switches that had for some reason been installed between the toilet paper holder and the toilet.. So there was nothing wrong with this fan! The work turned out to be a repair to the garbage disposal wiring, the replacement of two light switch cover plates, the reactivation of one bathroom ceiling fan and some detective work to solve the mystery of the wall switch for the other "non-working" fan. I would use this contractor again.

I gave them three dates on their website. They have a system where you can give three possible dates to get the work done. I never heard from them and eventually got the problem fixed.

I bought the deal with an expectation that TNE would contact me within 2 business days. (According to the deal) They did not contact me for 2 months. I then called to see if I could schedule something. They did not respond. Left them a few voicemails and no one has called me back.

They did exactly what I wanted them to do and I was very pleased with the service.

The work was done as scheduled. The crew was very professional and courteous.

This provider was prompt and went through the entire attic. The wiring that the insurance wanted put in a box was low voltage and not necessary. The provider filled out the insurance form required by Citizen's insurance and faxed it over to the agent so I could get this matter handled. It was a pleasure to deal with someone who was so responsive.

We bought a big deal for two hours of electrical work. Bill was easy to contact and scheduled us to do the work the same week. Troy and Dale were running a bit behind on the day of the installation, but called to let us know so we could plan accordingly. The work was done in half the expected time, leaving us with some credit on the big deal. We'll be bringing Top Notch back to wire a light in the kitchen and other jobs that we've been wanting to do for eight years. I'm not sure why some of the other reviews are not positive; our experience was great.

A little trouble making initial contact. Once contact was made however, Top Notch got on top of things quickly and took care of our requests.

The man who came out did a really good job. He came out to provide the service two weeks after I purchased the coupon because I had to wait for the light fixture to arrive. There were no extra charges for the service and he was fast. It was a three cured pendant light fixture so he did a really good job of making sure that they were of equal distance. He had to tie the lines off to do that. He went that little extra step to make sure that it looked really really good. I would definitely use him again. The price of the service was also good.

They did okay. When they finished the job there was a part that was left in box. I called them and asked them why the part was not installed. They tried to convinced me that it was not a necessary part. They were not interested in coming back. Also, now that the light has been installed I discovered that the sensors cannot detect movement on the ground. I did not give an excellent rating because the provider should have discovered this once the light was installed and calibrated. When the light comes on it initially rotates right to left then it shuts off until movement is detected. Again, it cannot detect movement on the ground. Additionally, the provider seemed interested in putting up the fixture and moving on to where ever their next job was.
