Description of Work: Total scam. They charge DOUBLE what others charge for the same gear. They were there less than 12 hours after we signed up for it on a Friday afternoon. Put it in on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend starting at 8 a.m.! I was able to cancel the financing before they got my money. After a lot of waiting they sent two guys to take it OUT. They never got a dime from me and never contacted me again. Absolute crooks with good products! Lied from start to finish. Installers were good, apparently in the dark about the finances.

Description of Work: Hey salesman came to our house and explain the process of what we would need. He was very nice, but clearly wanted to make a sale. When we were thinking about whether we were interested in adding solar air conditioning, he told us that they could start the following day. We felt that we needed More time to think about this, and so he offered us three days out. Ultimately we felt a lot of pressure to make a very expensive decision and we decided against it.

Description of Work: The work was performed efficiently, work space was left very clean. The problem I encountered was the 5.99 APR was not mentioned (it was quite a surprise) nor was the auto pay set up (a voided check was given to the sales person at the time of signing) which resulted in late pay on my credit report.

Description of Work: We met to discuss the feasibility of solar panels to reduce our electric bill. |The man who came was more honest than any others who had come. He was a tremendous help with our decision not to go forward with solar panels. He explained how our trees and the angles/directions of our roof didn't leave enough area to put the panels in and be effective. Other companies' reps had tried to sell us expensive systems. It was good to have someone be honest about the situation. We are grateful Sun-Tec came out.

Description of Work: the salesman came to my home and gave me all the information regarding the solar water heater and the panels. It sounded great and I decided to have them installed. On the day of the installation, the installers were late. they did call, but it gave me the opportunity to think about the price and the loan. I decided to cancel the installation as I didn't want almost 10000.00 in loans. I then found someone else who would install the same product for half the price. I got the same warranty and products. Sun Tec did call and offer to lower the price, but only by 500.00. They financed the price of the installation, but the amount refunded by the tax rebate ( about 3000.00) would be due to the company at the end of april. I don't know what would happen if the fiscal cliff thing happens, and they don't give the rebate.

It began as a telephone solicitation to listen to the Sun-Tec representative describe their products. In return, we were promised a gift card, so we set up the appointment. The representative explained that a solar system would save 30% on the annual electric cost of the home. He also downloaded an overhead photo of our roof to help decide where the panel could be placed. Because our roof is not oriented for best exposure, the representative agreed that the panel may be installed with a support that will tilt it toward the south. When we questioned the 30% savings, he called the office and then agreed to write a guarantee on the contract. We signed a contract with them, but ultimately, we never received a gift certificate. The installers arrived and handled all of the plumbing professionally. However, they did not have the support which mounts the panel at an angle. I called the office at this point and the receptionist could offer no help but told me to discuss it with the installers. They told me there was some code that prevented them from putting in the support. I allowed them to finish the job. They promised a savings of about $65 per month, but we are only getting about $16 per month with the electric water heater shut off. We will attempt to get Sun-Tec to honor their guarantee.
Description of Work: Installed one solar hot water panel and connected to existing water heater. Also installed one solar powered roof exhaust vent. Assembled all the necessary piping and electrical.

The same evening we had a different solar company come out and we were told we could have bought a system from them for $ 5,845.00. We called Sun-Tec that evening and requested removal of our system or to change the price. It was still within the time frame that we could cancel. On 7/20 the sales rep came again and the contract was changed. Now the total price is $ 5,400.00 ( $ 4,587.00 less than the original contract). On the evening of 7/19 was a special report on news channel 8 about Sun-Tec. Among other things the report mentioned that the company did not pull a permit for that customer. We were told by Sun-Tec's rep that our permit would be at our house on Monday, 7/23. When I called the permit office today, on 7/24, they informed me there was no permit pulled. The fines for having work done without a permit range from $ 1,000,00 up to $ 5,000,00 plus re-permitting fees etc. Luckily, after seeing the report on news channel 8 we had the sales rep from Sun-Tec sign a paper stating that they will be responsible for any fees or fines due to their negligence. Permit was pulled later that day, on 07/24/2012, after a few phone calls and an email to Sun-Tec.
Description of Work: We received a flyer in the mail from Sun-Tec (checked them out on Angies List, A rating). We set up an appointment for 7/18/2012. The sales rep sold us a system (solar water heater and solar attic fan) for $ 9,987.00. It was installed the next morning (7/19/2012).

It went very smooth. The installation crew got started before I arrived home from work (3:30-4pm) and stayed until almost 9pm finishing up with my solar tank in the garage. It was great once it was finished because I went from a 40 gallon electric tank to an 80 gallon solar tank.It was quite amazing once the installation was done, everything they instructed me on and told me was right. I will be using this company again for my water conditioning system I want to install. FYI-they defer part of the payment until April which is the amount that the government gives you tax credits for-you have to pay that directly to them in April.

I am extremely happy with them. They use a paint designated for the area you live in, since we live in the Clearwater area it's very damp and we're real close to the beach. The paint job on the house even though it was done over a year ago it looks like it was done yesterday. They get a big thumbs up. For this area, they are wonderful. They ar expensive but you get what you pay for. We're a centerblock home and they had to power wash the existing paint that was on there which was really bad and only about 4 years old. They replaced all of the the wood where the house peaks. Then they went in and put some kind of a sealer on and they sealed every crack in this house. It was built in the 80s and the center block cracked. It took them 2 days to fill all the cracks, then they put the sealer and undercoat on which really helps with the electric bill. Then they put the paint on, what's unique about the paint is even today you can go out and it feels like sponge. We checked around and they had the product that was best for us. They had a special for if they could put an advertisement sign in our yard. Several people in our neighborhood I've noticed have had them come out and do their house. They painted it light yellow with white trim and it looks really nice. I liked everything, I loved the people we worked with. We financed and we are still paying on it and they have been extremely with us. You get what you pay for. We looked them up online and they came out and talked to us. They were right on time, friendly people and I can't think of anything I don't like. There is a big warranty on it.

oSo far I'm very pleased with the work.
Description of Work: I answered an add for solar heat and was contacted by Timothy Adels from Sun-Tec. He came out and we discussed my high electric bill and decided on a solar hot-water heater and also solar panels for our pool. My son has MS among other problems and I have 2 knee replacements and use the pool for exercising. We wanted to see if we could afford to have it heated so we could use it year round. We found we could afford the payments and went ahead with the order. Sun-Tec came out today and put solar panels on our roof and connected the pipes and in a few hours finished the work on the heater for the pool. In 3 hours the temperature was 78 degrees and we went swimming! We are very happy with the work. They will be back to install the new solar hot water heater tomorrow so we can start saving money on the electric bill.

We received several estimates and chose this company. We are very pleased, as they did a phenomenal job. The price is a little high, but it certainly was worth the extra cost. Everyone from the company was so friendly.
Description of Work: They painted the outside our stucco home last summer. They used a specific paint that was designed for this area. If you touch the paint, it almost feels like rubber. We have a 15 year warranty on the paint. The color is wonderful and it has really helped our electric bill.

VERY PLEASED WITH SUN-TEC'S SERVICE!! The removal and re-installation of our ten (10) solar panels and piping was included in the original purchase of two (2) solar systems from Sun-Tec, so there was no additional expense incurred now. When we scheduled the replacement of our roof by Affordable Roofing Systems starting on January 12th, I contacted Mr. Mark Gross at Sun-Tec to let them know our plans. Mr. Gross gave me another individual to schedule the removal portion of the job. Then I called Affordable Roofing Systems (Tampa Bay area roofers) and gave them my information from Sun-Tec. Affordable Roofing Systems coordinated the removal with Sun-Tec for us. Due to a forecast rainstorm for January 11th, the removal was put-off for a day which helped both companies get in-progress jobs totally completed before the rain came. Justin and Woody from Sun-Tec came on the 12th to remove the two (2) systems. First, Justin made and sure all the control system, recirculating water valves and pump system were placed in the proper bypass mode before removing and draining the solar collector panel associated with the potable hot-water system. This was easily done and the panel was lowered from the tile roof and placed under a patio cover attached to our house. Then they proceeded to remove the pool water heating panels and piping. Again, Justin made sure the control system and recirculating water valves were placed to bypass feeding the heating system, but continued to run the rest of the pool water system. There were nine (9) panels to remove and there was considerable water that had to be "dumped" from the pool solar system including the pipes. They drained everything and removed the majority of the hardware. They suggested we leave the mounts which were attached to the roof for fear that leaks wood occur from the attachment screw-holes if they were removed and it rained. I agreed. I told Affordable Roofing what was happening and they said this that was not going to be a problem and thought this was best idea for the weekend. I gave Woody a orange "Homer" 5-gallon bucket to put the parts in which did remove and he suggested I get another 5-gallon bucket for the roofers to use on Monday because there were lots more parts to remove. I found another bucket for that purpose and gave it to Woody. They removed the panels and stacked them neatly under the patio cover. The pipes were stacked out-of-the-way parallel with the pool side. Again, everything was neat and clean. Sun-Tec is really good about this. Affordable Roofing Systems installed the new roof on the 16th and 17th and I called Sun-Tec to re-install everything again. I did not pressure them to get back fast, but did tell them we missed the solar hot-water bathing! There is a 20 degree temperature differential so as to not use Progress-Energy any more than necessary. On the 20th Justin, Woody and Darren (another of the original installers) arrived to re-install both the systems. They placed the pool water solar panels and pipes on the roof first and laid them out for re-installation. When things were properly in place they started re-installation of the mounting systems. I cautioned them that the roof had an inch (1") of inulation that wasn't there before, so they might need longer screws this time. Woody measured for the placement of the potable water system solar collector with Justin and placed flashing for the mounts and bedded them properly first for the top two (2) clamps. After moving the collector panel up in position, they did the same for the two (2) lower mounts and clamps. Justin re-soldered the copper pipes to the panel and all was well. After opening the circulating valves Darren "recharged" (re-filled) the closed-loop, heat exchange system, replacing the water that was drained from the system when the panel was removed. and then he started the control system and pump. ALL OK!! The rest of the pool system system was reconnected and the system was restarted. ALL OK, again! Shortly after they departed, we could see the remote pool thermomotor indicating the pool water temperature rising. Now we have to figure out how to warm (for "free") the surrounding air when one gets out of the pool! Sun-Tec was as excellent this time as they were previously and we whole-heartedly recommend them as a solar contractor. We wish them continued success!
Description of Work: Removal and re-installation of one (1) solar hot (potable) water panel on a hip roof, nine (9) solar pool water heating panels on a flat roof and the pool system connecting pipes which cross the hip roof and attach to the panels mounted on the flat roof.

Sun-T.E.C. Marketing Manager, Frank Perry, provided us with a survey of household (potable) hot water usage and provided a selection of solar resources to meet the needs for our residence becoming more "self-sustaining" and free of the ever increasing public utility costs. We sought to reduce our year-round HVAC operating costs and a large solar powered exhaust fan selection was provided and we selected the largest capacity model. Then we asked about solar heating for our swimming pool water and went through an analysis and projected BTU needs. Choices were made and a final price was agreed upon. We also agreed to allow our property to be used in advertrising or as an installation reference in the future for the benefit of Sun-Tec and/or Solar Hydronics Corporation, the sales/installer and manufacturer, respectively. Mr. Perry was very courteous and not a "high-pressure" salesman in the least. He was excellent and answered all questions honestly and openly. A City of St. Pete Beach Building permit was garnered for the project and the installation crew arrived as scheduled and the installation of the potable hot water system was begun. The old electric only water heater was removed and a new combination solar and electric water tank/heater was installed with a very minimal period of shutting off the main residence water supply. This minimal disruption was truly appreciated. Brandon, the lead installer/plumber, was phenomenal in his plumbing skills! I have worked with a lot of plumbers over the last 60 years and he is probably the best I have ever seen --- and he is a young guy! The attic plumbing installation was more cumbersome than originally anticipated, but the crew worked until after dark plumbing the attic after the solar collector and solar powered attic exhaust fan had been mounted on the South side on our hip roof and the fading sunlight made roof top work more risky. The crew was neat, organized, and cleaned-up at every turn and maintained a quiet atmosphere as they worked. The solar heat exchange "system" was not operational on the potable hot water system that first evening, which was fine with us, as electricity was heating the water in the new tank just as had been occuring prior to the new installation. The crew returned to complete the solar "system" functionality for the potable hot water system and was very careful how things were done. If Brandon didn't like the physical "setting" of the plumbing, he re-did it to his very high standards. While part of the crew was finishing the solar potable hot water system, another part was installing the solar collectors and piping for the solar pool water heating system. Again, the workmanship was as good as can be provided and we are very pleased with the complete installation. The City Building Code Inspector came and checked out both solar water heating systems and signed them off without any questions although he did really "check out" the total installations. The components used for both systems were of the highest grade and highest efficiency with lifetime or very long warranties from sources which have been in business for decades and are industry standards. The solar collectors have some of the highest F.S.E.C. ratings given. My wife and I visited the Sun-T.E.C. booth at the St. Petersburg Home Show and met others from the company and told them how pleased we are with what they have done. Sun-Tec is coming back to our residence to take everything off the roof as we are re-roofing the house and then re-installing it when the re-roofing is completed. We included this operation in the original contract knowing we were going to replace the roof soon. At the St. Petersburg Home Show we arranged for the new roof to be installed after the first of the new year. We highly recommend Sun-T.E.C. as a great solar system contractor.
Description of Work: Evaluation of potable hot water usage and estimate the needs to convert to major water heating from solar radiation in place of utilizing public utility power. Offering alternatives for heating the potable water. Evaluating the needs for solar heating of the water in our swimming pool. Getting a City Building Permit for installations. Installing a solar powered attic exhaust fan. Installing a solar potable water heating system for the residence. Installing a solar pool water heating system on the residence. Removal and re-installation of the solar system components mounted on the roof for both systems when a new roof is installed after the first of the new year.

We had no problems. After paperwork was completed with Rep, he said we would be contacted within 24 hours regarding installation. When we were contacted about setting up installation date, the guys arrived fully prepared for the job entailed. They lwere prompt, helpful, polite and efficient. About a month later, as a result of a city permit, the city inspectors came to inspect the work of completion. The plumbing inspector and the engineering inspector said an excellent job was done on the installation/hook up. So far, we are very satisfied. Our electric bill has decreased $25 the past month.
Description of Work: replaced old traditional hot water heater with a solar hot water heater to save energy cost.
