Spectacularly! A full explanation was given prior to selection of this company along with a review when agreement signed. Company took care of all paperwork; permitting, loan arrangement, inspections. The install team arrived promptly and leader answered questions as they worked.Clean up was complete and all scraps removed. Duke energy was notified of job completion as was the municipal permitting department. Cost for the project was determined by my use(using the graph that is on each month's electric bill). I have 18 panels and my cost was total $18,000. I will receive a income tax return credit for about $6,000. Within 2 months of completion, regional marketing director came to see how conversion was working for me. Customer service was great from beginning to end. Enclosed are pictures of the roof panels, the control station and August electric bill with total due$38.57..Note the difference between 2017 and 2018. Great company and way to use alternative energy that's readily available.

Installation was great, very professional. HOWEVER, IT TOOK 4 WEEKS TO ORDER AN INSPECTION, AFTER I VISITED THE OFFICE. Duke Energy chanced out the meter within 3 days of being notified. NOW it has been over a week and we are still not producing electricity. After several calls and e-mails Sun-Tec is going to send someone out on a service call. This is still a work in process, NOT VERY HAPPY..

The sales presentation was a little pushy, but as long as you've done your homework and know approx. what you spend for hot water each month you can make a fair deal. The sales rep was here until 10 pm so he wore us down, but they agreed to install a solar powered attic vent and also agreed to diagnose my broken pool heater. The installers were here first thing the next day at 8 am. They were very professional in their work. They seemed knowledgeable and were friendly. Their work was completed in half a day and it all looks good and professionally installed and they cleaned up after themselves. They installed the attic vent as agreed and I am now making more hot water that is much hotter at around the same cost or less. The next day their tech showed up and not only did he diagnose my pool heater as agreed, he was able to repair the leak and fixed it as well! I waited quite some time to write this review, not only because I am a man of my word and agreed to do it at the time of the sale and needed to finally get it done, but I wanted to also see how the equipment worked. The equipment is still working fine with no issues.

My husband and I have been considering solar energy, so when we received a cold call from Sun-Tec, we took the appointment. Shame on us for not doing our research prior to the appointment, but we are both working parents to a very active 4 year old and we are 9 months pregnant with our second child and very busy preparing for her arrival. Our Sun-Tec sales rep arrived on time. He was friendly, but super pushy. This is to be expected from a sales person, so we were't bothered by his sales approach. Mostly because we hadn't had a chance to thuroughly research the company, we were not willing to commit to purchasing a full solar panel grid that night. We did, however, like the sound of the solar panel attic fans and decided to give those a try. We signed the paperwork and scheduled the installation. Immediately after the sales person left, we jump onto Google, BBB and Angie's. This company has less than stellar reviews on all three sources, but not everyone loves every company. We were upset to learn that we where just charged at least 30% more than most of their competitors. We were being charged $3000 for two fans. $1500 per fan (including installation). One of their competitors, I'm not going to mention the name, with far fewer complaints on BBB and a better Angie's score offers the exact same size fan and installation for $765 a fan- we called to confirm. Our contract gave us three days to cancel the service. So we called to cancel the service the following morning. I wouldn't be writing this review if that were the end of the story. The finance company was professional when cancelling and so was the administration office at Sun-Tec. Things went south when the sales person called my husband and gave him a hard time for messing up his numbers and canceling the service. Totally unprofessional. We still believe solar is a good idea, for the fans and the full panel grid on the roof, but we will Not be working with Sun-Tec. The reviews are worrisome and we hate being over charged.

lDoing business with Sun-Tec, 19321 US Hwy 19 N, Suite 500C, Clearwater, FL 33764, phone: (727) 571-4141, was the worst business mistake I've ever made in my 73 years on this planet. You requested adjectives. Some accurate ones, in my opinion, would include: deceptive, unethical, fraudulent, apathetic, unresponsive, undependable, dishonest, lackadaisical, unprincipled, and criminal. Documented results (or lack thereof) are documented in my complaint form to FDBPR; my 7 page narrative; and 41 pages of Exhibits proving that information from Sun Tec cannot be trusted. If Angie's list would like for me to email the above mentioned documentation which is very lengthy and detailed, please advise. Thank you for forwarding this to Sun-Tec. Respectfully, Charlie Walters 239-690-0503
Description of Work: Sun Tec salesmen SOLD 3 "Solar" A/C's and 2 Solar Hot water heaters but installed and invoiced me for 3 "Non-solar" A/C's and 2 Solar Hot water heaters. I paid over $40,000 to this company full of unscrupulous execs and employees but was "rebated" back $2,000 from FPL (which made me think, incorrectly, that Sun Tec was not being fraudulent). Few, if any, of their promises have been kept and I have submitted a formal complaint to the Florida Dept. of Business and Professional Regulation. Service response has taken up to four days. Even though my equipment is still within the one year service warranty period, they recently refused service, unless I agreed to pay $35 per hour for problems caused by their slipshod installation. I now use a trustworthy local contractor who provides same day or next day service. I paid the local contractor for services which should have been provided by Sun-Tec, who I intend to never call again.

Installation went great. Sun-Tec agreed to apply for a permit and to fill out the forms in order to assure that I received a rebate of $1,000.00 from FPL. Sun-Tec has refused to take out a permit for the job and therefore FPL has cancelled my application for the $1,000.00 Rebate. I will now need to sue Sun-Tec in order to make them take out the permit and to get my $1,000.00 rebate. As always beware of paying the total cost of your job up front before the job is fully completed. I should have known better. Hope my review helps others.

The sales rep was very pleasant, and most helpful. The installers arrived on time and set to work right away. The worked all day until the job was completed. They were pleasant, courteous and business-mannered. When the installation was completed, one of the two installers took time to explain the use and maintenance of the systems, and answered our questions. We are quite satisfied with the service and installation!

The first installation, while very professional done, was fraught with delays due to internal supplier/installer issues. The punctuality of the installers left a good bit to be desired. Sun-Tec a year ago when first 5K array was installed was pretty much a "start-up", and it definitely showed through obvious disorganization, materials ordering mistakes, and the wrong people in some key positions. However, they had the right product, it's technology was the latest quality proven release, and the installation crew that I wound up with was very professional, although punctuality in arriving on site left a good bit to be desired. The bottom line is, that even with all their issues, the installation when completed was very professional and had the look and feel of very high quality workmanship, and the ensuing power production of the 5K array certainly backed up the bottom line installation assessment. This year, I elected to have an additional 5K array installed, and once again selected Sun-Tec, primarily because even though there were a number of problems on the first 5K install, none had to do with professionalism or quality of work. It was a very pleasant surprise to discover that in interim they had tackled and solved their internal problems, and for the most part had the right people in key positions, had addressed the installer punctuality issue. All of this and still maintained, yes even improved upon their installation professionalism, and workmanship quality. TODAY, I WOULD UNHESITATINGLY RECOMMEND SUN-TEC TO ANYONE WHO MAY BE CONTEMPLATING A SOLAR ARRAY INSTALLATION, OR AN ADDITION!
Description of Work: In two seperate distinct 5K Solar array installations for a total of a 10K . Completion of the first 5K was 5/6/2014, and the second was 2/10/2015.

We are on the Do Not Call list but we are interested in solar power so when Sun-Tec first contacted us, we engaged in conversation. After several calls, we were able to set up a time for a representative to come to our home. The young lady came equipped with a thick binder full of charts, past certificates & awards, etc. She didn't explain any of it thoroughly, speaking so quickly that she misspoke several times, backtracked, etc. It was not a very organized presentation. We did not feel she was very forthcoming in regards to costs. Everything was based on generalized information - nothing personalized for us - so we have no idea if any of the facts she was throwing around would actually pertain to us or not. She threw around numbers and filled out some lines on an estimation sheet but left several others blank until we pushed for more info. A lot of the pricing seemed contingent on us agreeing to be a "model home" - supposedly just giving them good reviews. Nothing is that simple. For that, she could give us a "significant" - but undefined - discount. We didn't like that with the high price (almost $17,000!), she said it would take 12 years to pay off the water heater and being to actually save any money. I'm pretty sure she said it was only guaranteed for 10 years. Also the big $3000 rebate that was a large part of the sales pitch is actually signed away to Sun-Tec in lieu of a down payment. When I asked if we could just make a down payment instead, she appeared very flustered. She barely talked about the actual equipment we'd be buying. According to the paperwork we read after she left, the tank is an 80 gallon hot water storage tank. Due to limited space, we currently have a 35 gallon tank. When she said she'd send out her "best installation team," I wanted to laugh. Who would say they were sending out their "second best" or "somewhat accident prone" team? That doesn't add much to the sales pitch. The presentation was too fast and left a lot of questions unanswered. A definite hard sell. When we said we'd like to think about it, she asked why. Well, because we always like to think things through first when it comes to spending several thousand dollars and agreeing to a decade or more of debt! When she knew we weren't going to agree to be a model home and sign away our futures on the spot, she was outta here. She left us brochures - per our request - but didn't even leave us a business card. During the presentation, she mentioned being on Angie's List (but reviews are mixed) and the BBB (where there is an alert against the company!). I'd call that deceptive. I'd still like to look into becoming a more solar powered home, but it won't be with Sun-Tec. I'm guessing they'll call several times before I convince them of that...

I had a solar hot water heater system installed in Sep of 2013. In the beginning I was extremely unhappy due to my electric bill being higher than before the change over to the solar unit. I called Sun-Tec on three separate occasions complaining about the inability of the water heater to retain hot water at the end of the day after the solar panel stopped sending hot water to the tank. They were always here the next day even though I am located on the East coast of Florida. The problem was finally diagnosed after the third trip but through the whole ordeal they were ALWAYS very professional and did everything possible to make for a happy customer. They have succeeded. After having the system installed and operational for over a year, I became concerned about maintaining the system properly. I called the company and they sent a technican within the next several days. Extremely reputable company and from my personal experience, a very customer service focused operation.

We were informed that it wouldn't cost anything and we could sell power back to the power company. Well some of that's true. There is a government program, but its a tax credit, not a reimbursement on the cost. Also, anyone can sell energy back to the power company, if you put the correct meter on your house. In any event, we listened to the sales pitch which was 1&1/2 hours long. The salesman took a photo on his phone of our water heater and AC unit and then tried to sell us a solar water heater for $12,000. He wasn't concerned about anything else and at the end of the presentation, we were asked for our drivers licence so that we go and finance this new product. I find the way in which they do business very misleading, unprofessional and over priced. My wife and I have spent the last 10 years in Europe doing just that, renewal energies, so we know a bit about it. I would NOT recommend Sun Tec. |If you want a solar water heater or any other solar equipment. It certainly makes sense here in Florida, however do your homework and educate yourself before buying. There are very good products out there and a faction of the price. Another company has a great selection of them as well as many other large companies with a good service record.
Description of Work: They call you and represent themselves as 'Future Energy', not Sun Tec. When we spoke to the girl on the phone, she said we are eligible to have solar energy and we could take advantage of a government program and that it would take 30 minutes for someone to do a survey on our house to determine where to solar panels etc.., would be located.
