The work done was at my fathers home. He is blind, disabled, on a very limited income that my husband and I have to supplement and I have been his sole caregiver for 4yrs now. My husband has no choice but to work out of state to have a job, the reason I have to hire someone to do the work. In that time period I have hired several companies to keep the trees trimmed, frustration of getting the diseased oak that was causing so many issues addressed. Some were "tree companies" and some were not so desirable so called "tree companies soliciting for work." After a lot of bad experiences, over paying, poor workmanship, dishonestly etc. finding Peninsula Tree Service on Angie's List was a blessing. When I called I was able to talk directly to the owner Tony Wiggins. He came out right away to give me an estimate however was running late but did call me to tell me he was on his way which I greatly appreciated due to my responsibilities with my father. I was very impressed with his knowledge. I was unaware of the issues that the pine tree in the back was causing and would only get worse that he pointed out. We had been told for many years that we couldn't remove the front oak tree however; after talking to Tony found that not to be true. The other companies just wanted to keep coming back and padding their pockets. Tony gave us an awesome price. He was extremely busy but, knowing I had recently had a heart attack and would be going in the hospital he was going to squeeze the job in because of my situation and I worrying that more of the diseased oaks limbs would fall on my fathers or his neighbors house while I was laid up. Then TS Debbie hit! I hadn't heard from Tony so I called and spoke to his wife who explained how it effected his schedule not being able to work in the storm and the aftermath that it caused on his priorities and they were both trying to catch up. Tony's wife is the most pleasurable lady to talk to. Very down to earth, reassuring, competent and a true asset to her husbands company. I was given an approximate date as to when he would be able to complete the work due to the storm. I was also told that I would get a call as the time frame got closer. Which I did. Tony showed up when expected with only one employee. He also was as pleasant and professional as Tony was. The day was very hot & humid and my heart went out to both doing the job in those conditions. They started, Tony being the tree guy doing the work himself and his employee being the ground man. I was really impressed watching the two of them work quick, efficiently and more importantly SAFE! like a well oiled machine. After they were done Tony asked if I would like to check everything out and if the job was to my standard or if I saw anything else that I wanted him to address. I couldn't have found a single issue even if I tried. This had been the first time ever that I didn't have any problems with tree work/companies. I had to leave for an appointment and Tony said that he would have to comeback the next day to grind the stump. Which I had no problem with. When I returned to my fathers I was shocked! During the time I was gone, apparently Tony was able to get the stump grinder there and finish the job the same day. I could not find one single twig, leaf, debris of any kind in the front, back yard, on the bushes, or even on the sidewalk or in the street to indicate all the work that had been done. My father, husband and I couldn't be happier to have found this company. I HIGHLY recommend hiring Peninsula for Tony's exceptional knowledge, professionalism, honesty, pricing, and quality of workmanship. Though the nightmare is no longer there in the front yard, I/we still have to maintain the back trees in which I will be looking forward to calling Tony's wife to set up to have Tony comeback time and time again.
Description of Work: Removal of large diseased oak tree in front of house that was damaging underground pipes also a safety hazard to my fathers house and his neighbors, removal of very large pine in the back of the house that was wedged in between two other trees, trimming back all trees in the back that were hanging over the house, on the opposite side of my fathers house trimmed that neighbors back tree (favor asked of us while they were out of town.) Stump grinding and removal of all debris. Did everything necessary to get permit to perform work.

We did not use this company. We got 4 quotes overall for this service. $900.00 is what Pinellas quoted us. Our other quotes were $670.00, $595.00 and $390.00. I thought the quote from Pinellas was outrageously high.

I acquired 4 estimates for the job of removing 2 trees and thinning out 2 large oak trees. All the estimates were within $100.00 of each other. I chose Pinellas Tree as I had used them in the past. They provided an accurate dollar amount to the actual cost. They obtained the permit for removal. They were punctual in their arrival time. Verified all that I wanted done. The men that came with Tony to do the work were very profressional and worked well with each other. They picked up every bit of debris that fell into the yard. They returned the following day to grind the stumps of the 2 trees that had been rremoved. We have inground sprinklers (you can't see them when they're off) and 1 was broken as well as a section of the PVC connected to it. I am positive that they had no idea it even happened. I should have made them aware that it was there.
Description of Work: Remove 2 trees and thinning out 2 oak trees. Only thing was a a sprinkler head & section of pipe was broken in the grinding of one of the stumps. We have inground sprinklers so I'm positive they had no idea that it happened.

Very good service. Came out and gave me an estimate for the service. We then scheduled a date and the person called the day ahead to confirm the time. The crew arrived and took down the tree. The infused the nutrients in the other trees and then cleaned up all debris. You can hardly even tell that they did something. Very well done.

Pinellas Tree arrived on time with three men and two trucks (a bucket truck and a waste truck with a mulcher in tow). They spent about an hour and a half meticulously and professionally trimming our oak tree, doing their best to trim the appropriate branches to correct some problems caused by prior amateur trimming issues. They also cleaned up a palm tree which had been neglected for quite some time. It was obvious that they were professionals and knew exactly what they were doing. They cleaned up my property thoroughly and left no evidence that they were ever at my home other than the greatly improved look of my trees. You may find a slightly better price out there, but you will not find someone with any more knowledge and professionalism. I will definitely use them again in the future.

I did not select this company to do the work.
Description of Work: I had a number of brazilian pepper trees that grow in the County easement in my backyard needing to be trimmed (have to do this every couple of years), plus 2 sabal palms. Pinellas Tree Service is one of 3 companies from whom I got a bid to do this trimming. This company was by far the highest bid, $975 as compared to $700 and $550.

Everything was top notch. They showed up when they said they would (actually, they were 15 minutes early), did an excellent job of trimming and shaping the tree, and cleaned up so well that I didn't have to do a thing.
Description of Work: The live oak tree in my front yard needed to be trimmed and shaped. After I told John that I wanted the tree to look like a picture frame around my house, he patiently and thoroughly explained to me what was possible to do and what would be best for the tree. Since this company pruned the same tree three years ago, I was confident the result would be what I wanted and the tree would be happy too. I am VERY SATISFIED with the appearance of the tree and would recommed Pinellas Tree Service to anyone.

Our trees are very important to us and add to the value of our home. We have extensive landscaping under the trees that we did not want broken by falling tree branches. They used great care in protecting the flowers and plants below the trees. The wildlife that lives in the trees are important to us and we were pleased that they listened and were careful not to destroy any of the nest in the trees. The workers were not bothered by the honeybees nesting in bird houses. This is the second time we have used them. The first time was Aug 2005. We were pleased to see many of the same crew members return to work in our yard 2 years later. They must be good to their employees to keep them around. In 2005 we purchased a fertilizer treatment for one tree. We can really see a positive difference 2 years later. Jon Wilbur is very knowlegeable and we like working with him and his crew.

I had 3 bids on the job and was more concerned about how the job was going to be done than how much it cost. I have lived in my house for 30 years and my 40+ year old oak trees have been highly cherished. I don't like trees that are heavily trimmed but I wanted the dead wood out for safety and low hanging branches eliminated so people would not be touched by them. So I didn't want a typical tree trim. Pinellas' salesman, Dale Williams, seemed to most clearly understand my desires. When Tony, 3 huge trucks and an army of men came out to do the job, he had no interest in doing the job as I wanted it done. The men immediately swarmed over the property, with men in the trees and on the ground cutting away madly. When I interceded, Tony made it clear that he knew what was best. Now the trees are highly elevated and off balance with one side of each much higher elevated than the other. Where I had shade, I now have sun and the large branches that were cut off are irreplaceable.
Description of Work: I hired them to clean out dead wood from 2 mature oak trees and to "raise all around to approx 9'". I did not want them to elevate the trees but they did so anyway. They also rehung a tree swing and injected one of the trees with fertilizer.

An Arborist, Dale Williams, came to my home to examine the trees in question. He identified the amount of pruning that would be necessary. The trees had never been pruned; so some required fairly extensive work. One week later a large crew of men arrived and performed the pruning. It took almost three hours. When everything was completed, we did a walk-through to examine each tree. Not a leaf was left on the ground when they left.

Very well. An arborist came out and looked at my trees and told me a couple of them were fine; needing no work. He also gave me a price for doing the other 2 and said someone would be in touch in a few days. I received a call in a couple of days and the work was scheduled. I knew I would be at work and he said no problem. The work was done and all the debris was cleaned up. They were even nice enough to move my huge staghorn fern from the limb they cut off to another limb (rather than leaving it on the ground, etc.). The company billed me a few days later. I have had a lot of tree people do work, but these folks seemed more professional than most and I think my trees will be better for it.

They did an excellent job. We have used many tree services in the past of all sizes. The initial quote they gave us was reasonable enough that we didn't call anyone else. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. So far, they are only 1 of 2 companies total who we would ever call back. They showed up 45 minutes early from the original time they quoted with about 9 guys and 4 trucks. They did only the necessary work, only tried to upsell me on tree fertilizer, and cleaned up their mess within about 2 hours. They also took into consideration our concrete landscaping that the past 2 tree companies had damaged before. Pinellas Tree Service made sure not to damage it. They are a very professional group!
