Had to reschedule and come back a couple times due to weather and equipment failure but everything went great when bad luck stopped getting in the way. Will hire again.

They did not show up for the scheduled estimate. A time was agreed on and it came and went. I called to follow up but my call was not returned.

We have always used Steven to trim and maintain all the trees on our property. We have a co-dominant live oak tree in our backyard that also borders a road to a popular park. The north side of the tree failed and came crashing down in our yard, taking out part of the fence. I immediately called Steven and told him what had happened. As luck would have it, his crew was fairly close and finishing up a job. The tree failed at around 11am on Thursday and by 3:30 pm they had removed the branches and debris and had cleaned the yard! We were very impressed! He has also filed for a permit to remove the rest of the tree. Steven has always done an excellent job, he has always been on time and his prices are very fair. We highly recommend Happy's Tree Service!

We were concerned about two tall palm trees that had been planted very close to the front of our house and were beginning to lean toward the house. We had previously used Happy's Tree Service to remove another palm tree, so we called Steve for an evaluation and estimate to remove the trees. Steve came out and looked at all of our trees and recommended the work to be done. He also agreed to include trimming of three sets of Podocarpus hedges in the job. He provided a printed estimate, including a site plan, along with a copy of his certificate of insurance. He scheduled the job for the following week. He arrived as scheduled with his crew and equipment. The work was expertly and efficiently done in just over two hours. We were very impressed with the quality of the work, the professionalism of the crew, the trucks and equipment used, and our overall experience We will definitely use Happy's Tree Service in the future.

What a great crew! Was able to schedule an initial estimate appointment within days of first contacting Happy's Tree Service, and the work was scheduled for just a few days after that. On the day we agreed on, the crew arrived right on time and got to work tackling the neglected trees and hedges at my new house. Steve and his crew went above and beyond getting everything in shape and then made sure that everything was very tidy afterwards. I also really value the fact that he is a trained arborist. I love my trees and want to keep them healthy and happy for years to come, so it's great being able to hire the right specialist for the job. It's great seeing a family business that works so well together and knows their stuff. I will definitely be contacting this crew when it's time to take on (or take out) my failing laurel oak.

It went real well. Brought an excellent team of around 7 workers and special machines to do the job. Started around 8am and finished up around 7pm. A popup rain shower started about 6:30 but the crew worked right through it to finish the cleanup. Steve's price was about $1,900 less than another quote I had received. I am very well pleased with the work and would recommend Steve to others.

Very professional...obtained permit to remove tree for us...arrived early..stayed until the job was done, including removal of all debris in both our yard and neighboring yards where the tree hung over...took great care to not damage our property nor our neighboring property.

Steve (the owner) came right out to give me an estimate to remove 3 trees, (one was a giant decaying camphor) grind the stumps and remove all debris. There is also a neighbor?s tree whose limbs are growing on my storage shed. (It is so frustrating that I have to pay to trim a neighbor?s tree but that?s the law? ) Anyway, Steve gave me a verbal estimate and then went to his truck and printed out a written estimate on letterhead inside a packet with information about the company. Whoa ? that was very nice. Now I had also received 2 other estimates ? a friend of a friend and another well-known tree service. While the other two estimates were a little less ? I didn't get a good feeling from them. One was a verbal estimate (red flag) and the other was on company letterhead but I felt the man was just an ?estimator.? When Steve and I walked around and talked about the trees ? he was professional, knowledgeable, made suggestions and is an actual arborist. We scheduled the work for today and this morning Steve arrived first to ensure the driveway was clear and scoped out where the equipment would be set up. Moments later the crew arrived. They were in uniform, had hard hats and safety goggles on. There was a bucket truck, a dump truck, stump grinder, and wood chipper. Four hours later Steve knocks on the door and we look at the work that was done. I was amazed. The yard had been raked, the sidewalks and driveway was blown off, and the hedge surrounding 2 sides of the large camphor tree was not touched at all. If it wasn't for the sawdust (and that wonderful smell of camphor) ? you would never know that the three trees had been there. The professional attitude, friendly and clean cut crew, along with the clean-up makes me so glad I spent just a little more and got expert service! I will recommend Steve to everyone. I am very very ?happy? that I chose Happy?s Tree Service.

We had a dead laurel oak in our front yard and needed it removed before it came down and damaged something. We called Steve for an estimate and he came out the next day. We also asked him to quote trimming the 2 huge palms. We agreed and he arranged for the permit. When that was complete he called and scheduled the job for the next week. He and his crew of two other men worked quickly and efficiently. We had also talked with Steve about trimming the very large oaks that hang over our house and screen porch. He quoted a price to add those to the current job, so we had those done too. They have the proper equipment, a big bucket truck and a large shredder for the debris, plus a stump grinder. They work together very well, with each person knowing their job well. The work was excellent and so was the cleanup. We felt comfortable with Steve and liked the fact that he is a certified arborist. He is extremely knowledgeable. We recommend Happy's Tree Service and will call them for any future work we want done.

We've been using Steve since Sept 2012. (See the first review below!) He's always been very responsive and extremely knowledgeable about caring for our trees. We have him come by to routinely trim our palm trees but this time we really needed him to do a thorough cleaning and pruning of a large Live Oak which is a focal point in our backyard. He did an awesome job and the tree looks great! We will continue to recommend him to our neighbors and friends.

He said the damaged trunk was in the process of healing itself and that care should be taken when trimming the grass at its base. He did not recommend any further action. He also said too many branches on the larger limbs were too aggressively trimmed in the last few years.

Steve was great! He was extremely courteous and professional. He had cleaned up the trees in the front yard about 6 years ago and I was satisfied then so I called him again. My trees had gotten out of control and needed a significant amount of help. One tree even needed to be removed since I let someone who was not an arborist trim them, and that other person cut the top and killed the tree. (Trust me don't make the mistake of hiring those drive by people, who just want a few extra bucks, big mistake.) Steve came in and cleaned up the trees and even gave the fire wood to an older neighbor who asked for it. In the future I will only call Happy's Tree Service, I have learned my lesson. FYI - The job was so outstanding I even paid him above his asking price. Trust me he is worth it!!! (price above reflects extra amount)

Steve came out while I was at work. Called me on my cell and discussed what he would recommend. He gave me a price over the phone which I thought was a good price and I agreed. We met when I came home and I was very happy with Happy's! I highly recommend Steve Goodell and Happy's. A certified ISA Arborist is needed if you have Oaks or any other trees worth keeping healthy.

Quote process was quick and professional. Steve is an ISA certified arborist and has a lot of climbing experience. Says he climbs in competitions as well. The tree guy in our city knows Steve and can vouch for his company. Showed up for the job on time with two other staff members and started work right away. As a side note; they really seem to enjoy their work. Positive attitudes. Job was well done. Even dead wood in the tops of the trees was removed. Cleanup was thorough. Overall, I think the job was competitively priced compared to others I've seen on this site. Can't compare to previous work since it was done so long ago. I would definitely use them again.

We had gotten 3 quotes from tree service companies that I checked out on Angies List. All had certified arborists. All were licensed, insured, etc. Our problem was that because of the size of our Washatonians, we were hoping to find someone that had equipment that could reach. Our quotes were: $900.00 with a company that clearly had the equipment. $670.00 with a company that had a friend that had a scissor reach and was pretty sure that person had all updated licenses. $595.00 with a company that didn't have the equipment but was sure his guys on ladders would be able to reach. So we schedule the last company to come out to do the work and a few days later, I walked out into my backyard and there in a bucket truck was Steve Goodell trimming my neighbors trees. So I asked him if he could give me a quote as well. I was a little concerned because there was no report for him on Angies List but my neighbor told me that she thought he did a good job and would use him again. So we cancelled the other company and Steve came back to do the work. He was able to manuever his truck against our fence and could reach all but one Queen Palm that he did on a ladder. Our trees were loaded with pods and berries. It was extremely messy. They did a good job of cleaning up. I was very pleased with his knowledge and the work that he did. I would definately use him again.
