Description of Work: Handyman Roofing replaced the cement tile roof complete with all the building code requirements. We had had the company patch a leak the year previous and then return in March of 2012 to fix another leak. We must acknowledge that the roofing company makes their profit and living in replacing entire roofs and not from patch jobs. The handyman manager was a good salesman and we were willing buyers as we are at times travelling during the rainy summer season and wanted to avoid serious and costly damage to the interior of our home should their be more leaks. Although we were one of the first in our neighborhood of 46 patio homes to replace the entire roof we have absolutely no regrets in putting a new and better roof on our home. The cement tiles used by handyman needed to conform to the local Westcase ordinances adn the roofing company was helpful with that requirement. And as a real bonus the new tiles are much stronger than the older ones (1994) and can take the golf ball impact without damage. We did not price shop so can not advise as to any questions on cost comparison. All in all we were completely satisfied.

This was a very expensive project for us and we wanted to feel confident, when the job was done, that we got what we paid for, and we did! They started work and completed work in a very timely manner. Cleaned up every day they worked here. They left their trailer with scrap and garbage in our driveway a little longer than they should have. We had more bad wood than anticipated. We went up on the roof to make sure that it was bad. Be very specific and details when signing a contract. If they keep doing a good job, word of mouth will bring them lots of business.
Description of Work: Removal of barrel tile and underlayment. All rotten on warped wood replaced, new mop down underlayment installed and new barrel tile roof installed. We asked for a 60 day completion date, or they would pay a penalty. All the other homes in this subdivision were waiting for 4-6 months for their roofs to get completed.

+ -1 moreTHEY WERE AWFUL. THE PRICE WAS HIGH AND THEY TOLD US IT WAS BECAUSE OUR ROOF WAS SO STEEP THAT THEY WOULD NEED SCAFFOLDING, HARNESSES AND EXTRA MEN. THEY ONLY SENT ONE GUY TO WORK ON THE ROOF! WE'VE GOT A PICTURE OF THE WORKER WITH NO HARNESS ON. WE APPROACHED THE OWNER, AND ALL HE OFFERED WAS A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE ROOF.

+ -1 moreIN MY OPINION, I WAS LUCKY TO GET THE MONEY BACK I HAD PAID THEM. ($1,075) THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL, CRUDE, AND LIE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. WHEN A CUSTOMER, SUCH AS OURSELVES, COMPLAIN ABOUT IT, WE ARE CUSSED AT AND TOLD THEY NO LONGER WILL DO THE WORK. WATCH OUT IN THEIR CONTRACT, AS IT CALLS FOR 25% OF THE CONTRACT PRICE TO BE PAID TO THE ROOFER, SHOULD YOU NOT FULFILL THE CONTRACT. OVER ALL, THIS PLACE IS A RIP-OFF, AND OF POOR REPUTE. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY.
Description of Work: A CONTRACT TO REPAIR A ROOF LEAK WAS SIGNED AND PAID FOR IN WHOLE ON 3/29/05, WITH A PROMISE THE WORK WOULD START IN TWO WEEKS. SEVEN WEEKS WENT BY, WITH NO WORK DONE. I CALLED, AS WAS TOLD WORK WOULD BEGIN THE NEXT WEEK. NO WORK WAS DONE. I CALLED AGAIN AFTER THAT WEEK WENT BY, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPANY NO LONGER WANTED TO DO THE WORK. THE ONLY WAY THEY WOULD RESPOND IS BY SENDING THEM A COMPLAINT BY CERTIFIED, RETURN RECEIPT MAIL.

+ -1 moreWHEN AN ESTIMATE WAS REQUESTED, THE COMPANY RESPONDED IN A TIMELY MANNER. THEY CAME OUT TO THE HOUSE TO INSPECT THE ROOF. HOWEVER, IN SPITE OF NUMEROUS CALLS TO THE ESTIMATOR AND TO THE OFFICE OVER A 3-4 WEEK PERIOD, I NEVER RECEIVED A WRITTEN ESTIMATE. ON 4 OCCASIONS WHEN THE ESTIMATOR WAS CALLED, HE PROMISED IT WOULD BE SENT BY A SPECIFIC DATE, HOWEVER, THESE COMMITMENTS WERE NEVER KEPT. THREE CALLS TO THE MAIN OFFICE NEVER RESULTED IN A RETURN CALL FROM ANYONE.

+ -1 moreTERRIBLE. ORIGINAL ESTIMATE WAS LOST AND NEVER SENT TO ME. COMPANY DIDN'T CARE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. SECOND ESTIMATE WAS MADE AT MY REQUEST. WAS TOLD WORK WOULD BE DONE WITHIN 10 DAYS. 30 DAYS LATER I HAVEN'T HEARD A WORD. CALLED COMPANY TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON, WAS TOLD SOMEONE WOULD GET BACK TO ME. 24 HOURS LATER STILL NO WORD AND CALLED AGAIN TO CANCEL THE JOB. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY GOT CALLBACK FROM JOE. JOE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. JOE SHOWED ABSOLUTELY NO CONCERN FOR RESOLVING ANY PROBLEMS I HAD WITH THE COMPANY, HIS ONLY CONCERN WAS IN SALVAGING THE CONTRACT FOR HIS COMPANY. WORK EVENTUALLY GOT DONE ONLY BECAUSE JOE INSISTED I WOULD NOT GET MY DEPOSIT BACK BY CANCELLING, DESPITE THEIR TERRIBLE PERFORMANCE TO DATE. I WROTE A 4 PAGE LETTER OF COMPLAINT TO BOTH THE GM AND THE PRESIDENT DESCRIBING THE PROBLEMS IN DETAIL AND STATING THAT I WOULD NOT USE OR RECOMMEND THEIR COMPANY AGAIN. I NEVER HEARD A WORD BACK FROM ANYONE.
Description of Work: JULY 29, 2003. FLAT ROOF OVER LANAI WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED RESURFACING. WORK INCLUDED A TAPERED SYSTEM TO ALLOW BETTER WATER RUNOFF.

YOU WILL NOTICE ON YOUR COPY OF MY QUOTE THAT I SIGNED AND FAXED IN TO BEGIN THE PROCESS THAT I HAD WRITTEN THE FOLLOWING: RICH, WE WANT TO GO AHEAD WITH THE REPAIRS AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE THE HOT TAR SEALS UP THE LEAKS BETWEEN LANAI & HOUSE FOR SURE. JON THEN, ON 10-7-03 SOME OF YOUR WORKERS CAME OUT TO BEGIN THE JOB AND JOE DECIDED THAT RICH HAD BID THE JOB INCORRECTLY AND THAT IT WOULD COST ANOTHER $1485.00 TO DO THE SAME JOB AS I HAD ORIGINALLY BEEN QUOTED $2450.00 FOR. NEXT, ON 11-18-03 JOE DECIDES THAT HE ALSO BID THE JOB TOO LOW AND THAT IT WOULD NOW COST $5835 TO FIX WHAT I HAD ORIGINALLY BEEN QUOTED $2450 FOR! I WENT OUT TO INSPECT AND FOUND THAT MY 1 YEAR OLD SEAMLESS GUTTERS WERE DENTED IN MANY PLACES. CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY AND BLAMED THE PROBLEM ON LEAVES ON MY LANAI ROOF AND SAID THAT HE WOULD INSTALL THE FLASHING FOR ANOTHER $1200.00!!!!!!
