Dog Days Pool Service

Larry called and arranged a time to come take a look at our pool pump. He immediately recognized the problem of exposed wiring inside the pump housing and re-wired the pump correctly. He performed some maintenance on the system, including replacing a couple of O-rings and he also replaced a diaphragm inside our Zodiac G3 vacuum. He re-hooked everything back up and now it runs like a champ again. Super nice guy and very honest. We offered to pay him for the parts he replaced and he told me the O-rings and maintenance he performed were covered with our initial payment. He also told us he didn't have a new G3 diaphragm on his truck at the time, but he did have a used one - so he put that one on at no charge. Will definitely be using them again...I'd highly recommend!!!

We just bought our new home and the pool turned green after a few weeks we moved in. We called 4 pool services in the area and ultimately decided to have Larry come out to figure out the problem. We had another service come out before Larry but knew we made the wrong choice. From my first conversation with Larry I knew that I was dealing with someone who was truthful, hard working and knowledgeable. Initially he tried treating the pool but it wasn't clearing up. He ultimately figured out that it was our pool filter. He also determined that we had a leak (we had been filling the pool often). He came out two other times to be sure that we were on track and he had made the right decision to have us purchase a new filter. He installed the new filter yesterday (with the help of Hillary who was also VERY knowledgeable, friendly and courteous). Not only did he install our filter he found where our leak was coming from and FIXED THAT AS WELL (no extra charge). This alleviated the additional expense of having another service come out to try to find the leak. Our pool is clear again and we now are using Larry as our weekly pool service. I have has air bubbles in my pool returns for some time now. They got progressively worse until I could no longer operate the jandy valve that controls water flow from the skimmer or main drain. It only worked with the valve set so both drains were open. I tried replacing the o rings in the valve and the pump lid but could not fix it. The automatic cleaner in my pool wasn't working, I thought it was because of inadequate suction. My pool had turned green since I had not run the pump for a few days, trying to fix this issue. I called Larry late in the morning, he showed on the same day. They identified the reason for the air bubbles and fixed it by replacing the O rings in the Jandy vale and installing a new grease cup. They also cleaned the filter and treated the pool. As for the pool cleaner, they fixed that by replacing the diaphragm. With the number of things fixed, I thought the charges were reasonable. They were very knowledgeable about pools and pool equipment and gave me a number of tips throughout the process. More importantly, they did not attempt to sell additional services beyond the issues that had been identified. They had all the necessary parts on their truck and were able to complete all fixes right away. Before leaving, they provided specific instructions on steps I should take until the pool clears up. If I a problem with my pool again, I will definitely call Larry first.

I felt that good service was given. He arrived on day of the week arranged for four weeks and provided general maintenance for my pool. Because I was able to find a new, highly recommended other pool service from a friend during this time, I didn't extend service beyond the original one month deal. However, if you are in need of general service, you might give this guy a try.

The service has been excellent. Larry is professional and offered me free advice before even reaching our agreement for service. The replacement of the missing valve has really helped with keeping my pool filter functioning correctly and my pool cleaner. I would have no problem recommending Larry to anyone that needs pool service.

Good. $85/month for servicing our small pool seems like a lot but I haven't priced others, so may be in line with other companies. They also did a nice job powerwashing deck and screens. Very clean!

Pool is kept in swim-ready condition. Except for delays due to weather, work is completed as scheduled. Repairs and/or parts replacement are brought to my attention in timely manner, cost of work/item provided in advance and efficiently completed. I took advantage of a substantial first month Angie's List discount, and have continued with monthly service even though it is a little higher than other providers' rates, because they do an excellent job.

Well you wanted all the deets .. here you go! I have to say, this company has the rudest family running it. From day one they kinda acted like they didn?t want to take on my pool because we have bamboo leaves that fall in it. Larry said he?d have to charge more for that. I was okay with that as I am planning on buying a pool screen, however the contractor is backlogged for 3 months or so, meaning we can?t get it done until December. So I paid $100/month for service, extra for leaf cleaning including chlorine and weekly cleaning. I believe $75-85 would be the price once leaves weren?t an issue. I could tell he didn?t really want me to use them but I really needed the help, and Angie?s list had them as a pretty trustworthy source. I don?t think he realized that I had looked him up and found him on Angie?s list, so I don?t think they realize that this review is coming, seeing that they seem to have GREAT reviews from other people. I know i?m not a jerk because i go out of my way to be nice to people. so I figured that maybe they just didn?t like the work involved. So that was the only time I saw Larry, and I would even go as far to say that he was pretty okay and even knowledgable in general, but not too enthusiastic for my business. i have no idea why people do that in this day and age, but I understand everyone is different.. I was nothing but nice to all of them, even so, as we are new in the area and first time homeowners. His wife was no charm at all. Each time I asked her to help with things, she did, and knowledgeably. But i felt *such* a general disdain from her attitude every time.. from day one. I didn?t understand why. I even would make light of situations saying that I was a n00b and generally was asking for help to maintain things. I got maybe half a smile from her in all of this. They also b**** about how we don?t clean the leaves enough but i am out there every day skimming. i bought a $400 pool cleaner before Larry would even agree to be our serviceman, and a upon Larry?s recommendation, I also bought a $50 leaf canister that catches them. He had asked that we assist in picking up leaves, that we understand. My little pool cleaner tends to get stuck behind the ladder about 4 times a day, even when i have made sure everything is completely cleared.. so when Larry's wife came by, and saw it that way, she sent me a very long text which I found to sound quite lazy and rude considering that the amount of cleaning we do. We do use the pool a lot. I think they don?t find it worth it to put in the chlorine it needs, and the whole 15 MINUTES they spend cleaning it once a week. They bring their kids in to do it. They just really don?t seem to want to do their jobs. here is what Larry?s wife texted to me, verbatim: "Also, the last 3 weeks the pool cleaner has been jammed in pool ladder and not working in pool. The pool has very dirty. It is important that you make an effort to net the pool surface a few times a week to remove floating leaves. It is also imperative that the pool cleaner be on the floor and functioning everyday. Please check to make sure the cleaner is not wedged. It may be getting stuck because there are too many leaves in the skimmer clogging the flow regulator. We can not continue to service the pool without help. The fall and winter will only bring more leaf drop.? I happened to break my ankle this past week but I was still out there emptying the leaves. There was only ONE day that I really was hurting which was the day they came (thursday) and i hadn?t skimmed the pool and it had just rained , probably blowing leaves in, which in response i got this text. I felt it was very rude and inconsiderate that they would text me like that and threaten to not serve us anymore. She whines even when the pool is clean so I am not surprised that one day went by where I wasn?t on top of it and she would b**** about it. They are not professional at all. Additionally, about a month ago, she had a terrible attitude at my other half with a speech that he was claiming ?willful ignorance? that the gate was locked where she normally comes in.. and how it HAS to be unlocked for them. He was taken aback by that since it was the first time he met her.. she spent a lot more time b******* about it than any professional really should. She also came around to me and gave me a small speech too, which was quite unpleasant. She didn?t check the other side of house though, that gate is never locked. She didn?t want to go around, which isn?t far! Very professional, indeed. Why would she talk at him so rudely the first time they meet? She was very upset that he didn?t know it was locked, by the way we had only lived here 4 weeks at the time. I was the one who locked it because she left the gate wide open last time she came, and they come whenever they want between Wed-Fri so it?s not like we know when to expect them. My only response to her text was ?Thanks, did you put chlorine in the pool?? Because I wasn?t even about to justify her complaining with a response or an apology when I PAY YOU. Do your job. Don?t b**** about it. Needless to say I only asked that because you are FIRED and went looking for someone else immediately in the meantime. I found a much nicer gentleman that doesn?t mind that we get a few leaves in the pool, or that sometimes the gate is locked. I since just put a lock with a combination on it so it?s not rocket science to figure out, even though the other side is just fine to go in! Have a nice day guys. Maybe next time you shouldn?t treat your customers poorly even if you don?t think they are on Angie?s list! My recommendation would be not to use them if you need any actual help whatsoever. They only want easy work! I guess they are fine if you have a pool screen, and you like bad attitudes. ----- Furthermore, upon discussing with my new pool guy the reason they were complaining to me that the water was very dirty and cloudy often was because they were not putting in the proper chemicals to stabilize the pool. My pool guy had to put some $40 worth of chemicals and was here for two days fixing the lazy problem these people were causing, which was causing buildup on the sides of the pool, which he also cleaned. The connection of my pool cleaner was also an issue which Larry installed. New guy fixed it up, my pool looks great now! It was looking like crap every week when these guys were coming by. Don't waster your time, they don't put the right chemicals and it doesn't even last!

I purchased their $29 first month deal for a new house I purchased. After inquiring where the house was located, I got the response that they did not service my area. I live in mid-St Pete, not a bad neighborhood. Their listing says that they serve all of Pinellas County so I don't understand why they didn't want my business. No other explanation or option was offered or even a recommendation for another provider, simply told what phone # to call for a refund. Very unprofessional. I am still waiting to get my $29 back. I will always call the company first before spending any money to avoid this in the future.

It is going well. I will continue to use Dog Days for my pool servicing. We initially had some missed communication, on my part, but I am very impressed with Dog Days service. I would recommend them to anyone.

I just recently purchased a house with a pool. I have never had a pool before and was just following instructions from a pool supply store. Despite my best efforts, I was not able to get my pool water clear. I contacted Larry and he came out the same day. He explained the problem, replaced a few parts and added some chemicals. He also thoroughly explained how to maintain the pool, clean the pool, add the appropriate amount of chemicals, and how the plumbing worked. The education that Larry provided was priceless. Before he left, I could already see a difference in the pool water.

So far so good! Dog Days Pool Service has been fantastic, from my first visit to the last. They came out and actually scrubbed my pool! My previous weekly service didn't do that. They showed me all of the potential areas of concern and the things that I could do to get more out of what I have today. I'm very pleased with the service and plan to continue weekly services with Dog Days Pool service when my one month trial is complete!

He replaced a new cartridge showing me my pool filter was dirty, he put stabilizer, liquid chlorine and he advised to use a chlorine tablet so I purchased to him a chlorine holder/like a floating toy.

Helped us open a skimmer that had not been working. Overall clean pool. Solved our ongoing problem with pool. They were very helpful and informative!

I called on Sunday and he came out Monday, he wanted to come out Sunday but it didn't work with my schedule. He quickly assesed the situation and used the equipment I had to fix the problem, he also had another part I needed on his truck and charged me a great price for it. The next day the pool was looking 100% better. He came out that day to make sure everything was looking OK and cleaned the pool and filter one more time. He said it would be swim-able the next day and it was. He was open to answering any questions I had and even offered technical support over the phone should I need it. I would use them in the furture and certainly would recommend them for any and all pool problems.

Both Larry and Hillary were amazing they came over Friday evening around 5'oclock to check out my situation with my current pool pump layout to give me some help on how to fix one of my valves. Instead of charging me any money they went over my current setup since it was done before i purchased the house. They said that they could redo some of the piping for $200 or just leave it how Larry set it up for free. Both Hillary and Larry were very knowledgeable and very honest. I learned so much from them in just a few minutes it was really nice to find a company that is really interested in how to take care of there customers. I will recommend them to anyone who needs a knowledgeable friendly pool company.

We just moved and our new house has tons of trees surrounding the pool (no screen). They have done an amazing job keeping the pool looking great. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone that needs help with their pool maintenance.

They responded to the service call immediately, quickly figured out the issue and the remedy and completed the job with a new filter the next day. I was very impressed.

I called Larry and scheduled a service call to have my skimmer line unclogged. I explained to him over the phone that I had tried but was unsuccessful. He explained that he would try and how much it would cost. He also explained that there would be no charge if he couldn't unclog the line. Larry showed up and cleared my skimmer line without any problems. I was not home when he did this, but he texted me pictures and a brief tutorial on how to do it myself the next time. Larry was very professional in helping me resolve this issue. He was also very helpful in finding me a company to provide me with a cover for my pool. Larry provides exceptional customer service and I highly recommend him for any pool services you may need.

Larry does an awesome job! We are very happy with the service and our pool looks as better then it ever has!
