Dog Days Pool Service

We have been using Dog Days for several years now and am only now getting around to leaving a review. Larry and his team have been a pleasure to deal with. Not only taking care of the pool on a regular basis but also doing other maintenance work (replacing pool light) when needed. If Larry and team can't do the work, he is always quick to provide a great recommendation to another vendor. We don't usually write reviews nor are we consistently satisfied with a vendor, but Larry and team @ Dog Day's are an exception and we highly recommend them.

We've been using their weekly maintenance service for 2 years. We've had a few repairs done as well. They keep our pool CLEAN! When I had a pool leak, Larry had an amazing fellow come out to handle it. Our old motor died a month ago. Larry put urgency in replacing it. I like that Larry is able to repair parts instead of trying to talk me into buying new parts, which can be very expensive. Larry, Hilary and Erin are all personable, real people that are a genuine pleasure to work with! I look forward to a very long business relationship with them!

He examined all fixtures, valves,screens and filters, even out fingers in the pump mechanism to feel the impeller. Could not find a problem but we could see that the system was not putting proper amount of water thru the system. Was very informative and notified me that I was using a filter that was more expensive than necessary. He could have easily sold me a new pump and I would not have objected. Very Honest man. I later took the entire pump apart and found debris in the veins of the impeller, cleaned these by pushing thru with a wire and was able to put the pump head back together and problem was solved. This was surely a very unusual case. He did not charge for the service call.

It went well. I keep using this company because they are reliable and knowledgeable in their practice. I would definitely recommend them.

I have been working with Larry and his team at Dog Days Pools for the last 2 years. My wife and I are very happy and he runs a very good business. First of all, Larry makes a point to try to extend the life of my pool equipment. When we bought our house, a few parts to our pool system (the motor, pool vacuum, etc) were quite old and were soon needing to be replaced. However, rather than take advantage of me by insisting I needed to upgrade everything at once, Larry insisted that his team try to get as much life out of the system as possible to save me money. I'm very appreciative that he put me first as the customer. Finally, the other perk of working with Larry seems trivial but it is extremely helpful - he is willing to text back and forth. Many times I have played endless phone tag with vendors leaving voicemails constantly with no resolution. This becomes an unnecessary ordeal. Instead, Larry is willing to text about issues I need addressed with my pool and responds even during the weekend. I highly recommend this pool company. They don't gouge you on price and they will only insist on having you pay for extra pool needs if its 100% necessary.

Company responded next day and was on-site the very next day. I received good advice and recommendations. All went well.

I was super unhappy with the pool service I was using and switch to Dog Days. Larry is super knowledgeable, polite, on-time and had great advice for the best and least expensive to maintain my pool. Taught me about how the pool pump works and needs to be maintained since this is my first time owning a pool. He and his team are great to work with and I would recommend them to anybody.

I bought a new house and wanted to someone to come over and check out the pool. I called Larry and he was able to come out within a couple of days. He checked out everything, found a couple of small things which needed replacing and had the parts on his van which was great. He cleaned what needed cleaning and went over everything with me to make sure I knew how best to take care of my pool. I was really pleased with how knowledgeable he was, he didn't try to sell me on anything, in fact, he gave me tips on how to save money! Really glad I had him come over, Larry is a super nice guy and knows his stuff. Highly recommended!

I called Larry at Dog Days Pool Service to come over and inspect my pool, filter, pipings, skimmer, O-rings, etc., due to the fact that I need to get my pool resurfaced. Not having the experience of having my pool ever resurfaced, and knowing Larry, because he's worked on my swimming pool in the past, I called him for some advice and questions that I have concerning the many options of pool resurfacing techniques and such. After inspecting my pool needs and answering my questions, Larry verbally gave me a list of recommendations and things I need to look out for when a pool is going to be resurfaced. I have to pump motors on my pool. One is for the filter and one is for the skimmer/crawler. The latter needs to be replaced, due to age, grinding noise, water leakage and lack of performance. Instead of selling me a new pump for the amount of $700 to $900, he said it would be best to combine the two and run off one motor or pump through the filteration system. This way the pool will be more algae and small debris free, because it's going to be filtered through the system instead of just being pushed back into the swimming pool by the crawler. Larry's patience to answer all my inquiries were second to none.

Took the job without the knowledge of how to operate the salt water system. I asked the tech after noticing there was no salt in the pool at which time she informed me that she did not know it was a salt water pool. Once she realized it she added to much salt and the new company is telling me it's to much and it will be summer time before he gets it down

Larry and his colleague Hillary are fantastic with our pool. First time homebuyer here - know very little about pools and how they work - and I hired Larry after I saw a bunch of positive reviews on Angie's List. Glad I did... Not only do they show up weekly and clean my pool, he is always giving advice and answering even the silliest of questions. Pricing is fair and offered me a very reasonable price ($250) to replace my leaky pool motor pump. Will be doing that soon. Highly recommend Larry...

Larry from Dog Days Pool Service provided outstanding service. A very professional and dependable company. He promptly called to schedule an appointment after I purchased my service call from Angie's List. He scheduled my appointment within 2 days. Requested pictures so he could ensure he had all the parts required and arrived on time. Very impressive! When Larry arrived, he quickly assessed my pool and spa issues and repaired them within an hour. I cannot express how impressive his knowledge was since I hired two pool service companies prior to Dog Days and neither one of them provided me with the information and solutions that Larry did. He is incredibly knowledgeable, reasonably priced and not interested in selling something you do not need. He even provided me with thorough instructions on how to maintain my pool - eliminating the need for me to pay for a weekly pool service. Based on my prior experience with two "reputable" pool service companies, Larry is my man from this day forward.

Awesome, consistent for nearly a year now!

My pump/motor was making a whining sound and not performing efficiently. Larry came by and checked the whole system. He advised me that the pump was going bad and it was just a matter of time before total failure. He advised me that I should replace it with a new and stronger motor that has a 1/4 more horsepower, since mine (3/4 HP) was not powerful enough for my size pool. He replaced all the rubber O-rings, filter housing knob, and a more efficient filter cartridge. He advised me that the distributor didn't have a 1 HP motor, and that he would replace my old motor with a stronger 1.25 HP motor at no additional cost to me. He came back the next day, installed the motor and it is running excellent.

Larry and Hillary are awesome! They were so friendly and honest. They explained things clearly and thoroughly. They showed me how to unclog my pump if it happens again. They explained how to save money on chemicals (what I need and what I don't really need at the local pool store). Larry even told me to check Amazon for an affordable filter when it's time to replace. These two went above and beyond. That's why I love Angie's list. I can find the best of the best and these two really are.

They were so nice and helpful. Explained the basics for maintaining my pool. They also cleaned, tested my water and added chlorine to my pool. Will call again if I have any questions or problems. Thanks!
