The service provided by Frank was excellent. The cabinets look fantastic. He made several visits to show me available cabinet door styles, stain/finish options and to verify measurements. It took 4 weeks to order the cabinet doors. He contacted me several times to update me on the progress of the order. During installation, he was careful to protect my granite countertops. He has an attention to detail that I appreciate very much.

We used Frank before and was very happy with his work. So when we needed roll out drawers we called him again. He is very prompt, cleans up after himself and does beautiful work at a reasonable price.

Frank was very professional and explained everything in detail as to what had to be replaced; how he was going to do it and the materials involved. I would recommend his services . He has much pride in his work and heritage as a carpenter and it shows in his workmanship.

I called these folks based on Angie's List recommendations. They promptly returned my call. I scheduled the work for two weeks out with Frank. He maintained contact with me during the interim, and the evening before our appointment, he said that his father, Lee, would be at our house at 8:30 the next morning. At 8:00, Lee called to say that he would be there at 8:30, and he did arrive on time. Everything that Lee did was neat, precise, clean, and professional. There was not an instant where I felt he was rushing or trying to cut corners. He cleaned up the work area several times during the day and when he finished, the kitchen, where the cabinets were installed, was cleaner that it was when he started. I would DEFINITELY used these folks again, and I will be recommending them to my friends. They are first class folks.

Frank came over and my husband and I told him we wanted bookshelves and lower cabinets to go on each side of the fireplace. I showed him several pictures and told him I wanted it to match the fireplace mantel as if they were all built this way as a set. He communicated with me by email and showed me his drawing of how he would build the bookshelves as well as another real picture to confirm what I wanted. It was great! Frank came on time and got right to work. He is a very meticulous and detailed builder, constantly measuring and making the cabinets fit perfectly into an imperfect space. When he was done building it, we absolutely loved it! (Now that it is painted it adds so much to the character of the room.) A week or so later after waiting on our painters to paint the shelves they had primed and given it a few coats the wood on one of the cabinets was splitting in several places. I called Frank and emailed him pictures. Frank got on it as soon as he could considering it was near Christmas when it had finally been painted. He worked on it and several shelves most of the day and it looks like there was never any issues at all. He worked tirelessly and even though the work was complete and paid for he came back to correct the flaws in the wood and worked as if he was just starting the job and not one who was having to return to repair a flaw that was not his fault. He also helped my husband hang a master bedroom door. Frank cut in the door to fit the frame, cut hinges and door knob. Frank was a great asset and was so helpful. I would use him again and will recommend him to everyone. In fact I already have. :)

However, Frank exceeded my expectations. For example, he told me he would get the job done in June. He met that deadline. He was on time, worked until the job was finished. Frank and Lee are true artists. They have so much passion for wood working and they can transform any project into a masterpiece. They are patient and listen to the client carefully and pay close attention to detail. They are able to truly envision the client’s needs and wishes and bring any project to life with the upmost quality and design. They are absolutely the best craftsmen around; you will not find better! They transformed our house into a magnificent home! People like Frank and Lee just don’t exist anymore, they are one of a kind!

Lee came to give me the estimate within one day and started the job two days later. He finished the project in a day and a half.I cound not be more pleased with the work.

My husband and I were very pleased with every aspect of the job done by Son of a Carpenter. When we initially contacted them to construct a bookcase for us, Frank was very responsive, answering our phone call promptly and coming out to our home in a very reasonable time frame. When discussing the project, he offered terrific ideas on how to improve the original design which we had actually gotten from another carpenter. The bookcase design was modified to include a cabinet in the bottom for closed storage and another design on the top which allowed better access to the shelves. Frank was wonderfully detailed during the planning stage explaining exactly what he would be doing for the project and offering suggestions on design and material selection. For the time and materials we felt lhis price was very reasonable. Frank told us that he would be ordering the doors to the lower cabinet of the bookcase and thought they would be ready in approximately 4 weeks. The doors actually arrived a little early. In between he called us and kept us informed and I must admit I have never had a contractor do that before!! Thoughout the project he was concerned for our time realizing we are snowbirds and needed to leave for our home up north by a certain date. When the day came to build the bookcase Frank surprised us in having much of the bookcase already built. He brought the sections to our home for completion of the project. We were very pleased because this reduced dust and mess in our home and ensured that the bookcase was square and well built. He finished the bookcase that day and spent much time on the details making sure he was satisifed with his work too. We also spend some time discussing some other possible projects and found Frank to be extremely well informed and experienced in many areas of carpentry. This is a family business with great integrity! Frank was delightful to talk with, respectful, thorough, efficient, paid great attention to detail and great care in what he did. We are super pleased with the end result and will definitely use this business for our next project (we are already discussing our next one with him). Don't hesitate to use this company of carpenters.

Superb, as usual. I know Frank well from prior experience. I have been looking for a nice office desk for many months to replace my old childhood desk. The prices out there are outrageous, and the quality is lacking, its hard to find a good 7 drawer desk as I am used too, most of them cheat with the drawers, and put a fake drawer front with a computer cabinet on one side, and use laminate or veneer on the sides or top. By chance, I went to a used desk furniture store, and there it was. the largest old solid oak desk I have ever seen, with beautiful hand carved handles, lovely side panels, and the double pedestals with full file cabinets, and drawers with real wood dividers! It must have been magnificent when it was new......however it had been used and abused.....big time, the finish was an old fashioned golden oak color, and it was faded and scratched and worn, and really beat up and filthy. definitley potential, though. and at only $175, I couldnt believe it. We called Frank and asked him to look at it, to see if he would be willing to take on the project and how much it would cost. Well, thankfully he agreed to the challenge, and he asked a very reasonable $600 to finish it. He went over the details with us, what color, the type of finish. So of course, to match the desk, we asked him to make a matching book case, one that was same height as the desk, and with the same finish.and others 7ft tall with crown molding detail at the top, so after a few weeks, he called and we set up delivery. He packed up all the pieces, and delivered and set them up himself. To be honest, my dad was really worried. He really was quite skeptical about what the desk was going to look like, especially since he had ordered the book cases as a surprise for me, and wanted me to be happy. He just kept hoping we would not be disappointed, like years ago we had to return some 'hand made' cabinets done by a yokel in arkansas for us, who was all talk! and so dad was having some flash backs I guess! But I was not worried at all becuase I knew, if Frank said it turned out beautiful, it was true, and.............of course we were amazed. simply thrilled with the results. The desk is just gorgeous. He must have spent hours sanding down and refinishing every inch of this huge monster, all the detail, he had to fix up a lot of dents and scratches, and he even reinforced some weak points, and gave me the custom cherry gloss finish I wanted. Truly an amazing job, we could not be happier, and I could not believe he did all this work in just a few weeks. The book cases are solid pieces of art, made to perfection, with no detail overlooked. everyone who comes to my house compliments them. they turned out to be so beautiful flanking the tv in the family room, just warm up the entire house. Ok, so this desk (72x36) ,which brand new, now a days, would probably have cost in the range of 2500 to 3000 alone (but was sold used for $175 , which tells you how badly beat up it was) was taken from a haggard relic to a fully restored better than brand new version of its original glory, a true piece of art, and I am simply thrilled. And for about the same cost a new desk of this quailty would have cost me, I also got three masterfully hand crafted matching book cases, all of which are custom to match and will last for many generations to come. So maybe it sounds pricey, but I think I got a fantastic value for the money, and for the kind of furniture you can not buy at a name brand store, I checked them all, Kanes, Havertys, Oak Wood. You might think custom work like this is a thing of the past, our out of your reach, but check with Frank first! - he might change your mind. All delivered and assembled with the same care and attention to detail we have come to expect from Frank. Simply Superb. I knew he was talented and did a wonderful job with the crown molding and cabinet making and installation, but I was blown away with the job he did refinishing this desk. I just Love it!! Things went just great, they arrived when they said they would, and completed exactly when they said they would, and the results are stunning. They cleaned up after they were done, as if they had never been there, even when I told them I would sweep up for them, they insisted, its unusual now a days to see people who have such pride in themselve and their work. I just can't say enough about how much I admire and respect these gentlemen. I was grateful they were willing to drive the two hours from Palm Coast to Sebastian. They said it was only worth it for big jobs. I would not trust anyone else with this job. I wish I had enough money to replace the kitchen cabinets so Frank could install them for me as well, but maybe next time. For now, we are simply thrilled with the work they have completed, it has completely transformed the entire home, and showcases the 10ft ceilings, and dramatic archways in the entry ways. I would not hesitate to recommend Frank and Lee to anyone, in fact you would be lucky to have them work for you, because they will create a piece of artwork for your home. They are straightforward, and you can trust them completely, that they will do a simply wonderful job in a timely fashion, for a great price. They are fantastic to work with, and I am saving up for my next project for them!
