I would use Bob again. He provided a competitive quote and followed up in a timely way by email (my preferred communication tool). He did a good job explaining the work plus potential challenges that might be uncovered once the job started. His quote covered a range or prices to reflect the best and worst case senarios. The tiles look great and I'm really pleased with how everything looks.

Bob did really quality work! I am so glad that I choose him over the other bidders. NOt only did he turn my kitchen into an extremely beautiful sanctuary, he did for a great price! He is also one of the nicest people you could meet- so is his assistant, Pepe. He works with a great amount of integrity and it is important to him to do the job right. He even helped me with different company that was giving me some problems. The most impressive thing he did was to do all the work he did and preserve my wallpaper and border I had hanging in my kitchen. It was a newer paper and fairly expensive border. I asked him to do all that work without messing up the wallpaper or border. And he did it!! He remodeled my entire kitchen, rewired for new light fixtures, hung new fixtures, hung new cabinets and molding, tore down a wall, and still preserved the wallpaper and border. Also, he took the time to talk to me daily to ask what my preferences were regarding certain things throughout the job. I have had other contractors who were just like bulldozers, but Bob took the time to ask and I am VERY grateful!! Lastly, he showed himself very trustworthy to do the "right" thing. I will definitely hire him again. It is so refreshing to to find contractors who walk in integrity and fairness!

The whole experience was a great one. We were very happy with everything from the pricing to the quality of the work. Bob Kontout was timely in giving me an estimate for the project, was able to start the project when he said he would and completed the project in the time he said he would. The work was excellent from building the walls, to the drywall finish, to the painting and to the suspended ceiling. It was a pleasure working with Bob and his excellent crew. We would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone and in fact, I have another project I want him to do for us when the time to do it comes.
Description of Work: We had a fairly uncomplicated project remaking a former storage area into a usable sewing room. It involved putting up studs for walls, hanging drywall, running electrical into the room, painting and a suspended ceiling.

We are finishing our basement. The drywall is up and taped and mudded. My husband, who worked in construction for many years, got the work this far, but due to nerve damage in his hands, is having real difficulty completing the job. Bob's listing says he does 24 hour service. So we called Sunday morning thinking that one experienced guy could knock this out in a few hours. Just smooth it out. Bob did answer the phone...points to him...but he said he doesn't do this type of job. What a disappointment. I guess this job is not lucrative enough to be bothered with. I feel bad for my husband because it really took a lot for him to admit that he was having trouble. This is not a salvage job, just a finish job. I know there's no way for Bob to know that for sure without seeing it, but he didn't even offer to come look at it.
Description of Work: Bob won't finish what you started...

Overall, it went very well! We had at least 4-5 other estimates. Bob's was the most detailed and fair and he asked the most questions during the estimate phase about what we wanted. Bob's communication was generally very good and he showed up when he said he would. He ran into some unanticipated problems along the way (wiring issues he didn't anticipate) that cost him at least an extra day and a half of labor, but he was very fair about price adjustments (we actually gave him more money than he asked for to compensate for these issues because we knew he was undercutting himself). Whenever we had questions, Bob listened well and answered them to our satisfaction. If we made suggestions, he either complied or explained why another alternative was potentially better. The end product is EXACTLY what we wanted and more! He did beautiful work, subcontracted to skilled and professional laborers when necessary (plumber to install pot filler faucet --Bob did the actual water line--and a carpenter to install the crown moulding on the top of our new cabinets). Bob came back promptly when the job was finished to address a few minor issues. This is our 3rd major home improvement project and our 3rd contractor; we would hire Bob again in a heartbeat!
Description of Work: Bob gutted our existing kitchen down to the studs (removed flooring, counters, and cabinetry;removed soffits; adjusted existing wiring; added new wiring) and installed our new kitchen (new water lines; new electric lines;cabinetry; drywall; light fixtures; canned lighting). [The cost above is only Bob's labor and materials: did not include the purchase of the cabinets/counters which we did separately].

Overall, I am happy with the final product. Tying to keep the costs from creeping up and the project on schedule was a huge headache. Contractor admitted he had accepted too many jobs, didn't have enough help, and underbid my project. I didn't feel like any of those issues were my problem, and didn't want to pay more or wait longer for the work to be completed. Big headache. But the final product has worked out.

The overall experience was great. We had used Bob for a previous bathroom renovation, so we were very familiar and comfortable with working with him. Here are some specifics: 1.) Bob provided a very timely quote for the project, and didn't change the quote during the project. This was extremely re- assuring since we hadn't thought through all of the details we wanted in the basement design. I really feel like he is a very honest and straightforward professional. 2.) Bob was flexible in the project and provided services for the items we weren't comfortable or didn't want to do ourselves. This met our needs especially since most contractors want to handle the entire project. Specifically, we handled all of the major material ordering and completed the electrical and painting, and some of the decorative trim work. This flexibility met our needs. 3.) The overall project turned out great. Bob has a good attention to detail and does a very high quality job. We couldn't be happier with how it turned out. If we happen to do any other projects in the future, we will definitely use him again!

We liked that he was very punctual. If he says he is going to be here at a certain time he would be here. What he could improve on is to listen to his customers a little more. We think he has a lot of experience. We have a feeling the he tends not to listen to what his customers want. That is one thing that we experienced. There were certain things like the bath flush, the reason for the delays in the execution of the work because of some delays from his friend who was the cabinet supplier. So, he always referred to his friend. He always recommended his friend for cabinet making and we had a really bad experience with him. We were not very happy with the way he did the bath flush. Also, when he cut out some of the wiring for the gas he didn’t ask us. He just went about his own way and we think it was just bordering on disrespectful in certain things, but otherwise work wise he is punctual and professional. It is always like if we go with what he recommends then I think he is happy. He needs to be a little more flexible to what his customers want. This work was a combination of several different teams working together and he could have worked better in the team and arranged his schedule around that. That is one thing that we are not very happy about. The finished work for example on the bath flush it hasn’t been cleaned off like the edges on that we can still see the things left over. When he installed the handles on the cabinet there are splinters behind. A person is going to experience what he is not expecting that kind of rough edge. When people install they have to make sure that nothing is going to hurt the customers when they use them. He just left us with a not a very happy feeling working with him in the sense that we would recommend him to one of my friends. We are pretty unhappy with his professionalism in terms of quality of work.

Response from Residential Services
In response to this report I must say iti is an extreme exaggeration of the truth. First of all he ordered the cabinets through a supplier that I deal with an the cabinet company had him sign off on the cabinets. These issues had nothing to do with Residential Services, LLC. The day we arrived to remove the kitchen the residence was nothing but chaos. The homeowners were cooking , the countertops and cabinets had not been cleared as was agreed upon. There were contractors tearing up the floors and a lot of the items they had moved were placed in the kitchen. Thie construction site grew more chaotic by the day with painters and other contractors all trying to work at the same time. I am not aware of what "The bath flash" they make reference to . They had another contractor working on the bathrooms. I have never worked on a job site that was so unorganized. They were definetly not prepared and had to run back and forth to the supply store constantly because they were so unorganized. And why write a report one year after the fact?

Residential Services of Ohio (RSO) is an outstanding company! Bob, the owner, and his associates completed our remodeling project with skill and precision. The finished outcome well exceeded our expectations.RSO removed several layers of old flooring in our entry hall and kitchen and installed new ceramic tile, removed old drop ceilings in our main floor bath and kitchen, installed new can lighting in the bath and kitchen, built a half wall in the kitchen and installed French doors leading into an office. RSO installed a new stone backsplash in the kitchen, removed a large mirror in the bathroom, installed a tile border around the shower, and they removed wall paper and painted the whole kitchen and bathroom. Bob also installed a new closet door in the hallway. Everything was done with a high level of care and precision.Additionally, Bob paid attention to the little details of the project ~ new base boards for the flooring, light switch covers, vent covers, making sure certain things were done before the new appliances arrived. With Bob's skill and knowledge in the field, he was able to offer suggestions that were extremely valuable and aided in the overall outstanding look of the finished project.Bob and his team were extremely professional and they arrived on the days and at the times they said they would be here. They were respectful of our premises and cleaned up after the completion of their work each day. The project was completed in a timely manner. We could not have asked for a smoother run project and the finished product is AMAZING!!!!! We have beautiful new features in our home and we would definitely use Residential Services of Ohio in the future.

This guy may do good work if you can ever get him to actually quote the job. I was not even able to receive an estimate from Bob. There were 2 instances where I arranged to be at home from work so that Bob could give me a quote. He touched base during the day to confirm he would be out. Then towards the end of the day he canceled and said something came up. The last contact I had with Bob, he was supposed to come out and give me a quote... attempt #3. Again I made arrangements to be home from work. He did not call or return my calls the entire day. He does not value a customer's time. If he was not interested I wish he would have just said so instead of stringing me along. Total waste of time.

Response from Residential Services
During the initial call I explained to this member that we were extremely busy and I could not get out there right away. He said he was nit in a hurry and that would be ok. I did make an appointment for one afternoon but called him and cancelled. I explained I had to get some papers motorized at the bank that afternoon which I had not planned on. I made another attempt to get together and he was not available. Since that attempt we have been working in Anderson, leaving early and getting back late every day.

This project started with the unit looking like one of the places featured on the 'Hoarders' TV reality show. Serious neglect for over a decade, including water damage in the drywall from past roof leaks, plumbing and appliances that were barely functional, carpeting that was matted with layers of dirt, etc. Adding to the challenge was the fact that I live out of state and had to participate in this project mostly from a distance, using phone, digital photos, web, etc. Bob(the owner of Residential Services of Ohio) put forth a competitive bid, and throughout the project he was a tremendous help to me in dealing with the logistics of materials selection/procurement. Bob completed the project on budget and in the expected timeframe, and the only extra costs were for things I explicitly asked for after we signed the initial contract. Bob was very flexible, and in a couple different instances was able to come up with solutions to things that came up unexpectedly without being a burden on me and without impacting overall cost. He was also responsive to my requests to perform touchups near the end of the project, with the final result being an attractive unit that has received compliments from those that we've since shown it to. The 'B' rating I gave for professionalism is primarily due to the administrative/paperwork side of things. I received more polished proposals for the project, and Bob's style is a bit on the informal side of things. But don't let that fool you: he does good, honest work, is flexible, and has a strong commitment to satisfying his customer. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bob for a wide range of remodeling projects.
Description of Work: I hired Residential Services of Ohio to do a complete renovation of a 2-bedroom condominium. The work included demolition, drywall work, complete kitchen rebuild, replacement of all light fixtures, bathroom floor tile installation, replacement of all bathroom fixtures(except tub), installation of wood laminate flooring in high-traffic areas, and overseeing carpet installation in all remaining areas.

We had 4 quotes to fix up our partially demo'd finished basement. Bob was the least expensive and did a quality job. He and his crew hung/finished some new drywall, removed a large bar, closed off plumbing, boxed in a few drains and included a nice oak top for one to double as a seat, fixed the drop ceiling, replaced trim and installed can lights. They showed up to work when they said they would and finished on time and on budget. I would recommend this company.

The contractor worked from my design. He gave me discount cards and I purchased everything from local big box stores except water supply and drain pipes and electrical wire (supplied by contractor). All decisions about measurements, sizes, amounts, etc. were left to me. I was ready for work to start in August and had everything purchased and delivered and it sat in my living room, but contractor kept delaying. The good part was that at least he called and kept me informed of where he was. Finally started in October and finished in early December. The best part of his work is that he made everything (new walls and all bath items) fit and be pretty square and level in a 100+ year old house with crooked walls and floors. Was very impressed that he tiled floors that are uneven and slope. There are some things that could have been done better. The drywall around the tub was never finished with tape and mud before the tile was put up. One of the light fixtures was not centered when it was first installed and he moved it when I asked. It was reinstalled a little crooked. I would have liked the grouted seams around the shower floor and tub to be sealed with waterproof caulking. An outside wall was exposed during demolition and instead of good foam insulation to cover the wall and protect the vanity's pipes, he just stuffed pieces of regular insulation around the pipes. One of the bathroom's exhaust fans exhausts into the attic - which is a large space and hopefully will not be a problem - but it should go to the outside. It was a very big job so overall I think they did excellent work. I waited a year before I wrote the review and can say I am still very pleased.
Description of Work: Complete demo and tear out of one large old bathroom. Building of a new wall to separate the room into 2 bathrooms. Install new bathtub, vanity and toilet in one bathroom. Install new shower stall, vanity and toilet in other bathroom. Install floor tile and tile around new bathtub and in new shower stall. Cover any existing old walls with new drywall. Reinstall wood molding and wood trim around doors and windows. Hang new mirrors, light fixtures and bath fans in both bathrooms.

I called Bob in the middle of June. At that point of time I was not very sure/clean on what I wanted. He came within a couple of days and provided me an estimate. Bob provided me an estimate on what I had requested when he first visited. The estimate came in promptly. But I had changed my mind on what I had needed done i.e. the area where I wanted the bar placed. I called Bob and let him know about it. He understood it fully and came in again to have a look and take measurement again and provide me an estimate. Bob provided a new estimate for the second time. After that I had some more changes and Bob came in again to look at it again. After this Bob started the work on the 15th of July. During the work phase which lasted around a month or so, Bob always let me know when he would be there either through a text message or a phone call. Usually he used to let me know the day before on what where his plans for the next day. There were a lot of extras that were done by him for which he did not charge me extra e.g. providing an electrical outlet on the outside patio, moving the pool table light twice to a new location etc. He also diagnosed and fixed my dish washer issue (Switch was bad) and he did not charge me anything for it. Independent contractors were quoting around $80.00 for diagnosing the issue. All of the work was very well performed. Lots of people have visited my basement and have been very impressed with the work performed. I felt very comfortable working with Bob and would recommend Bob to anyone without any hesitation.

We were very happy with Bob Kontout of Reliable Services of Ohio. It was easy to work with Bob who is very personable. He always returned our calls promptly, and would be on the job when he was scheduled. He always called us if any change in schedule was necessary. We had tile replaced on shower walls and bathroom floor. The old shower receptor was replaced along with shower head and faucet. We decided to replace all the drywall since some of it had water damage. Bob arranged for a plumber and drywaller and they did excellent work. He returned the bathroom to working order by reinstalling our commode, glass shower doors, vanity and the new granite vanity top and faucet we purchased. He installed the crown molding which was taken down when drywall was replaced and also the baseboard after floor tile was down.

Bob was very professional and courteous, and reasonable about scope changes. His tile work looks amazing and is really top notch. His company's drywall and painting also look very good. Bob did well working around the challenges presented by an older home.
Description of Work: We initially hired Bob to remodel our master bathroom for $4,800 (labor only), including tearing out a wall to expand the size of the room, replacing the old tub with a stall shower, relocating the bathroom sink, and installation of a new bathroom vanity and countertop. We later expanded the scope to the project to include the installation of a few plumbing fixtures in other bathrooms and the kitchen, the replacement of all of the light fixtures and switches/outlets in the house, installation of four ceiling fans, installation of a bathroom fan, installation of an exterior security light, some drywall repair, some interior painting, and installation of a pair of French doors.
