Bryan McHugh was extremely professional and responded to all communications quickly. This was not the case with other contractors. All the sub-contractors were polite, punctual, and professional. The work done is high quality and we will definitely use McHugh's Residential Construction again.
Description of Work: The entire shower was redone with new tiles, fixtures, and frameless glass enclosure. We also had new light fixtures and sink faucets put in.

Please see above; Price was a bit too high for us but he does lovely work.
Description of Work: Bryan is wonderful. His work is amazing (you can see from his site) and he was polite, professional, and prompt. I was very pleased with his honesty and his willingness to listen to what remodeling we wanted. In the end we went with another contractor who's price was less, but I will consider Bryan in the future.

After 19 years of having two boys use the bathroom, it was time to remodel, since one of them is married now, and the other is heading off to college in a month. It might not have to be done again. I went into Angie's List, and found nothing but good things about Bryan. I contacted him, and he was here and had a quote to me in a couple of days. I had a budget, and he was well below. Usually I would contact another person to get another bid, but something told me that he was the guy I wanted. He explained the process, saying that it would take about 4 or 5 days; he also said that it would take longer, as each phase would have to be inspected, so the whole process took about 3 weeks. Bryan always answered emails, phone calls, and returned calls promptly. The workers were very good, and cleaned up each day. Each step was done quickly, and very well. We were very happy with the work, and we're thinking about our kitchen next, and will use him.
Description of Work: The entire bathroom was demolished, and new tub, tile, vanity, took out light overhang, and raised the ceiling in the bathroom.

The guy’s name is Brian McHugh. I was very happy with what they had done. They did an excellent job. I was very satisfied with their work. Everybody was very professional and excellent. I would recommend them to the others. The price was very good. I would definitely use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: We used McHugh's Residential Construction. We last used their services on the 26th or 27th of April. They did basically the remodeling of three rooms including a kitchen and everything was done in three weeks.

The job went excellent. I would give them rave reviews and recommend them to anybody. They did not drag their feet, they were in and out, tidy up after everydays work, and after they were done they had a cleaning lady come in to clean up. It was not bad at all. They were in and out in a matter of 15 days and it was a lot of work. It is better than I expected it to look. We're going to have them come back and re-do the master bedroom also. The subcontractors were extremely good and professional also. I felt comfortable with having them in my house and that's not always the case. The contractor was on site every day and he did a lot of the installations around the house.
Description of Work: They took down the popcorn on the ceilings, re-textured the ceilings, re-textured the walls, painted the walls, completely remodeled the bathroom, and totally remodeled the kitchen.

After spending a year looking at new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, cabinets, etc., talking to friends about their home improvement experiences, and getting a few estimates, I decided to join Angie's List and broaden my options. McHugh's Residential Construction, Inc. was the third contractor I contacted. Bryan McHugh provided all the details I was looking for in the estimate, answered multiple e-mails, tons of questions, made two visits to my home and gave me a very fair/reasonable price for the project. I planned the construction dung the holidays (between Thanksgiving and Christmas) and Bryan said he was going to do everything he could to get us back in the house around December 25th. I made the right choice to move out of the house during this major remodeling. Bryan started the project on November 28th. I was very impressed with all the subcontractors he used, and can't say enough about the quality of their workmanship and the job they did. My husband, son and I visited the house once or twice a day, and always found the house buzzing with activity. I talked to Bryan daily and was always impressed with his prompt responses and the time the took to explain the details to me. Bryan was even able to accommodate additional work requests we had, like the addition of an additional outlet box for lighting at the top of the kitchen cabinets, baseboard in the rooms that weren't under construction and additional drywall work. The work proceeded as planned through the month of December and we moved back into the house on December 26th. There were a few things left to do after we moved back in, like the installation of the new front door, brick pavers, and drywall. My eighteen-year old home has been updated and upgraded, and my husband, son and I are thrilled. Bryan did a lot of work, at a fair price, with exceptional subcontractors, in the time frame he promised. It doesn't get any better than Bryan McHugh and McHugh's Residential Construction, Inc. I highly recommend his company.

Obviously we are pleased with Brian's work. My husband is very "hands on" and we think that helps with Brian - but honestly, we like the personality mix and match. We would not hesitate either to use Brian again or to recommend him to others.
Description of Work: Brian did a back patio for us (completely new roof structure w/ electrical, lighting, etc.). We then hired him to finish some other work upstairs that a different contractor did not finish (2 bathrooms plus some miscellaneous dry wall, pocket door installations, etc.). We hired Brian again for a 3rd project, a pretty substantial outdoor kitchen. Our 4th project (and probably not our last), Brian executed a very significant and extensive kitchen remodel which included completely gutting the existing kitchen, adding square footage, lifting a dropped ceiling and re-wiring, re-plumbing all the electrical and wiring. In the middle of the kitchen, we bought a condo that needed significant renovations. Brian completed that renovation (call it project 5) while we were waiting on some materials for the kitchen.

We had the kitchen remodled. It is hard to find people willing to work on our home because it is part trailor and part house. They did the most beautifull job. As soon as we get the money they will be back to tear out the bathroom and rebuild it. Our home started life as a trailor back around 1964. It was slowly added onto and changed a lot over the years.
Description of Work: We had inside walls removed, an outside wall changed to accomodate the refigerater, electrical work done. They showed up on time. Did all work professionally and in a timely manor. We did have a part on the sink break, and had to wait on parts. But, things were put right as soon as possible.

I cannot say enough about McHugh Residential Construction. Bryan and his brother were always on time, they worked tirelessly (they didn't take any breaks), they were meticulous, and they cleaned up every day. If I can, I'll post some pictures of the finished product so you can see how nice it turned out. We definitely received high-quality workmanship for a reasonable price. In fact even after the job was finished, Bryan came by to take care of some minor imperfections--just to make certain we were completely satisfied with the finished product. I would easily recommend this company.
Description of Work: Basically, Bryan McHugh and his brother, Ben, built my wife and me a custom master bathroom complete with large corner Jacuzzi tub, Steam Shower with seven shower sprays (3 body sprays, 3 ceiling sprays, and a shower head), two separate vanities, glass block windows, and a beautiful set of French Doors leading in from the bedroom. They did all of the the plumbing, carpentry, drywall, and Travertine tile installation. What we had before was a 1960s, tiny master bathroom that barely had room for a toilet, a small vanity, and a leaky shower.

(11/23/09) He had crews that were not efficient. He was rushing around and hurrying too much to try and get it done correctly. He didn't take a professional approach and he didn't perform what he kept telling us he was going to be able to do. He did want to do it but he would stop and say, "Well, that's it," and then he would go on. UPDATE (01/05/10) We knew we were going to have problems when they starting to rush things. Yes I gave a fair report previously, but since then we are finding lots of problems and flaws. Specifically, what follows is only a few. 1.) There were several areas in the ceilings that were replaced. Now we have several crack lines. It looks like the seems were never taped. 2.) The texture added to the ceiling in the dinning room/ living room is not "knocked down" the same and is inconsistent stands out like a sore thumb. 3.) Both bathrooms were gutted, rebuilt and new tile put up. The tile jobs were not done flat, smooth from one edge to the other. Even the floors are not flat high spots and low spots. Tile work next to door casing was never completed as promised, in the guest bath. 4.) The new ceiling in the guest bath room never had the insulation added as per contract. 5.) The shower valve in the master bath comes out of the wall at an angle, not perpendicular to the wall. 6.) The piece of expensive new vinyl in the kitchen was cut, no offer to replace only repair. 7.) The drywall areas around most of the doors where the old casings were was simply utility-knifed-out and never smoothed. 8.) Painting on all the rooms has air bubbles that popped leaving craters on all the walls. They told us when they sprayed the walls that they were having trouble with the spray gun. Did not stop and fix the gun or even stop spraying, just kept on putting flaws on the walls. What started out fine, went down hill from there. Mr. McHugh will some day become a fair contractor but right now he has a long ways to go, or at least pick better sub-contractors. UPDATE (02/03/10) Work as performed continues to deteriorate. The new vinyl floor which they installed and cut on installation now have lumps and bumps starting to protrude up through the vinyl, because the concrete subfloor was simply not cleaned well and now the dirt is starting to poke thru. The brand new Pella windows that they installed are now binding and sticking because the openings were not prepared properly. The work they preformed continues to deteriorate the longer we are here. Very, very poor quality.

Response from McHugh's Residential Construction
I am quite surprised to read this report. This project was completed exactly at the estimated time and on schedule the entire project. The cost was exactly as on the contract. There were multiple things done exceeding $800 in labor and materials that were done at no additional charge. The work was performed at the highest quality as it always is by us. As far as the comments on this report are concerned, we did everything I said we would do and more. Also, the rushing and saying well that's it comment makes no sense to me considering I was supervising the project and not performing the actual work. As the contractor, I was there personally on a daily basis to ensure we were on schedule and the high quality of workmanship was as expected. What is most surprising is that on the report it says the customer would indeed hire us again but gave an undesirable report. I had a discussion with the customer about a bad experience they had with another contractor and I handled this project with the utmost professionalism because of their previous experience. I think this experience and this report were affected by that prior experience. I hope that our Angie's list customers see from our many other reports that we are an excellent company that pride ourselves on high quality of work and professionalism. Throughout the course of performing hundreds of remodeling projects there will of course be people that cannot be pleased no matter what is done above and beyond what is expected.

It was a very small job, but, they did it very nicely. They also did a very neat job and I was very pleased with them. They were doing another job near to my place and that is why they did this small job for me, otherwise they would not have done it. I thought the price was a little high, but, we did have a couple of bids and McHugh's bid was about mid-range.

We had used Bryan previously for our bathroom remodel, and did not hesitate to call him once we decided to redo our kitchen. We love working with Bryan because in addition to being extremely flexible and easy to work with, he provided us with good ideas and helpful tips as we planned the project. Once the work commenced, Bryan and his crew worked quickly, and would identify and alter the plan of action as necessary after consulting us (something hidden always arises!). As amateur DIYers, the aspect of working with Bryan that we loved the most was that he was available for tips and suggestions as we finished our kitchen (tiling the floor, installing appliances), and even came back over to help with jobs that were "too big" for us to complete.

From start to finish Bryan McHugh either personally answered his phone or promptly returned every voice message I left. He patiently and thoroughly explained every step of the process. An excellent listener, he made sure that everything I wanted done was addressed and provided thoughtful recommendations when asked. He started and finished the job precisely as scheduled. His crew were polite, friendly, considerate, and professional . Bryan informed me every day when he or his crew would be arriving and they consistently arrived on time. Bryan followed up regularly, inspecting the job-site and came over after completion to be sure I was satisfied. My bathroom is gorgeous! They made it as stress-free as one could have during any remodeling. I'd highly recommend Bryan and his team to anyone.

From the time I met with Bryan for a bid until the job was completed, he stayed in constant contact with me. There were times when I went to his voice mail but he always returned my call within a reasonable amount of time. He instilled a confidence in me regarding his ability to get the job done accurately and efficiently. I was nervous as I had never hired a contractor before nor spent this much money to have work done in my home so his ability to put my fears at ease was reasuring. Bryan was no less than professional and did an outstanding job. I found the tile work to be meticilous with cleanliness throughout. Since I had never undergone a remodeling project, I relied heavily on his judgement. Whenever I had a question about which products I should use, Bryan armed me with information to help make my decision-making process easier. He also referred me to a tile company which in turn provided me with excellent customer service and bombarded me with advice in choosing the tile, the design and the layout for my project. Originally, Bryan estimated that the entire job would take between 3-5 days. He was right on target. As it turned out, it took him 4 days to complete. I was ecstatic about this as this was the only bathroom I had with a shower (compared to another contractor telling me 3 weeks). I will continue to use Bryan's services and highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Bryan gutted and remodeled my 5x7 bathroom. Replaced bath tub with new, installed all new tile in tub surround and floor, installed new vanity, plumbing fixtures, and all accessories (ie, towel bars, curved shower rod, toilet paper holder, medicine cabinet, mirror, lighting, outlets, etc).

Bryan, Benny (Bryan's brother) and the rest of Bryan's staff were very polite, professional, and highly skilled. We are extremely pleased with the work they did in our house. If we ever do another remodel, we would not hesitate in hiring McHugh Residential Construction, Inc.. Bryan was very flexible with the additional changes that my husband and I wanted as the project progressed. For example, we originally did not plan to paint/tile 4/5 of the house. However, Bryan kindly accommodated us and charged us a very fair price. Bryan was also very flexible with our schedule. During the project, there were some unexpected delays with a vendor and our vacation plans. Everything worked out. One thing that my husband and I really appreciated was that the crew did an outstanding job of cleaning up. We are so very pleased with the work that Bryan and his crew did for us.
Description of Work: Bryan McHugh and his staff did the following for our kitchen/bathroom Remodel: 1. Primed and painted about 4/5 of the walls in our house 2.
