I will start with the initial meeting and the permitting process. Bryan took over for a previously fired GC and got right to business. We started off fairly well as the main slab, framers and roofers did a proficient job. We had some issues with water intrusion during rain storms that were not addressed after several texts asking for help to keep the rain from leaking into the main house. From this point it just seemed like the communication completely broke down between Brian communicating his game plans with us and getting his contractors to show up. Addressing our concerns as the customer was became obvious that it was of no importance. We had to become our own project managers as Bryan was seldom on site. If we could get contractors on site 3 days a week and 4-5hrs a day that would be a good week. Deficiencies were half way addressed or not at all. Blue tape would be removed but touch-up work left undone. Very frustrating and disappointing as we started off well. Just my overall.

After meeting with many qualified contractors for our remodel project we selected McHugh's Residential Construction. Bryan was very thorough in our preconstruction meetings and throughout the project. His team completed our extensive project within our budget and ahead of schedule. I am not an easy person to work for and their work exceeded my expectations. I would definitely give McHugh's Residential Construction a shot at earning your business. You won't be disappointed.

The quick response of this Company by Brian (owner) was excellent. We had major wood rot on wall from leaking window. Brian sent out Shane and let me tell you...this guy is a WORKER. He pays close attention to detail and did the entire project in just 3 days. From framing, electrical, drywall to outside stucco he did it all to absolute perfection. We have been considering and pre-planning a major kitchen remodel and McHugh's Residential Construction will be on our list for a proposal. Thank you Brian and a BIG THANK YOU to Shane. P.S. Shane cleaned his work area at the end of every day.

We are so happy with how our house turned out. Bryan and his team are so professional and do beautiful work. We removed our sunroom and extended the house to make two additional rooms. It was so well done, it looks like it was always part of the original house. We also removed a wall separating the kitchen and living room to make it open concept. Complete kitchen gut and redo. I finally have the kitchen of my dreams! Bryan was quickly able to get a sense of what style we were looking for. I would definitely recommend him and would hire him again! I FINALLY love my house! Thanks Bryan! :)

I had attempted to contacted approx. 10 contractors before contacting Bryan. Of those, only a handful actually responded, or were willing to show up. And those that did, did not have the vision to accomplish our goals, and would simply throw out an outlandish estimate, which only seemed intended to persuade us to not do the project. I have had nightmare experiences before with contractors, not showing up, projects being delayed, and having little to no communication with the provider. This was not the case with Bryan. He was in consistent in communication via phone/text/or email. In addition, there were some unexpected things that occurred during the process, and Bryan was always reasonable on solutions to resolve. In addition, he offered some suggestions we hadn't thought about throughout the process. And the subcontractors he used were also professional and did amazing work. Especially A&M tile company. The overall cost of the project probably wasn't the cheapest..... However we had premium service with premium results. Bryan was also throughout in his initial estimate, so there weren't any surprises when it came time to submit our final payment. No regrets.

Excellent! McHugh's Residential Construction remodeled our kitchen a few years ago and did a wonderful job so we hired them again. This time they remodeled out bathroom. The bathroom is beautiful! They are hardworking, prompt, reliable and trustworthy. They were in communication with us throughout the project. They arrived when they said they would and worked all day. This was a full remodel. The work included; removing the drop ceiling, installing recessed lights, vanity light, a vanity with granite top, sink, faucet, mirror, tile shower, glass enclosure, wall tiles, paint on the walls, trim and door and more. It is beautiful! They listened to all of our concerns and helped with decisions. For example, one of my main concerns was the shower floor. I did not want anything that would be slippery at all. Bryan McHugh picked out the shower floor tile and it is perfect! We are planning on hiring them again for the guest bathroom and will complete another review when that bathroom is complete. We would highly recommend McHugh Residential Construction

Bryan returned my phone call within two days. An appointment was set up which had to be canceled and was rescheduled. He was prompt for the appointment and two days later sent me a reasonable estimate for the project. A date was set to begin and Mark showed up to do the work. I can't say enough good things about Mark. He is skilled, experienced, and full of good ideas. When the old materials were removed damage was reveled which had to be repaired. This increased the cost, but couldn't be helped. All of the work was done in a timely manner and the result is better than we expected. The only negative thing I can say concerns the cost of installing the tile. The result is great, but I could have hired someone myself for about 1/2 - 2/3 the price. Overall we are very happy with the result and will definitely consider using him again if another project comes up.

Brian was slow to respond to my request to come and quote on this job, but in the end, made time to come while my sister/'design consultant' was in town. He was late arriving, a bit irritating considering three of the five companies we'd had give quotes WERE on time. He was also slow in getting a written estimate to me, losing us time in selecting who we would select. He is personable and seemed professional enough, though I didn't appreciate his saying that if other companies SAID they didn't use subcontractor they were lying. It may be true (the one we used has used one, once), but you don't have to undermine the competition to make yourself look better. His estimate was, unfortunately, the highest of the five we solicited, higher by $12,000 from the lowest bid we got (which we almost-but-didn't use, going instead with one that is around $8500 lower).

I just want to thank Bryan and his team of workers for the great work they did. My current kitchen was more than likely the original cabinets and countertops from when my place was built in 1984. After the MDF frames and laminate countertops started to really show there age I decided I needed to remodel my kitchen. I was looking to gut my kitchen; removing the drop ceiling, removing all the cabinets, opening up some walls, relocating the water supply for the refrigerator to another wall and updating the wet bar area with the same cabinets and granite as the kitchen. I asked five different contractors for a quote and only three responded. The three quotes ranged from $19K-$35K which caused me to try and quote out the job with Lowes/HD doing the cabinets and a handy man doing the demo and some of the final touches. After receiving their quotes back I realized Bryan’s quote was right on the money and slightly higher than a handyman/big box store for the cabinets and I felt it was a safer choice having Bryan, do all the work. His quote included all plywood cabinets where the rest were all MDF bases and while his cabinet supplier had fewer options to choose from than the big box stores, I was able to find one that suited my taste. I am truly grateful I chose Bryan and his team. The project took slightly under 5 weeks to complete and Bryan was very helpful every step of the way. His team cleaned up after themselves and allowed me to feel I was not living in an active construction zone during the remodel. Every day I could see significant progress and when the team ran into some issue opening one of the walls up due to AC lines Bryan was quick to give me a call and we came up with a solution that didn’t slow his guys down nor the project. The project went smoothly from start to end and in the end I am very pleased with the final product. It was a great help to rely on Bryan and his teams experience.
Description of Work: • Remove all kitchen cabinets and wet bar area cabinet and cap off water, drain lines at the wall. • Terminate water supply for the refrigerator in the current location and run new water supply line to new refrigerator location. • Remove drop ceiling and florescent lights • Extend kitchen opening to first step (approx. 2ft) from floor to header level (pending any obstruction in the wall) • Extend kitchen opening from countertop height to header to approx. 6 inches from kitchen wall corner (pending any obstruction in the wall) • Expand pass-through opening height to match the height of the kitchen opening (pending any obstruction in the wall) o Extend left side (facing kitchen opening) to within six inches of the kitchen wall corner • In both Kitchen opening and Pass-through areas do not disturb crown molding on interior walls • Remove picture frame from pass through opening and door way casing from kitchen opening and install corner bead return on openings and finishing with other drywall repairs • Repair exposed flooring where wall was moved (Customer to provide flooring) • Relocate switch for kitchen lights to other side of kitchen opening. o Add in a double box and add an electrical outlet next to the switch (Should be able to run it off the current outlet on that wall) • May need move/extend current refrigerator outlet to new location if refrigerator is required to run on its own outlet. • Install 6 recessed lights in kitchen • Install new drywall and finish with knockdown texture to match existing house on celling and orange peel to match existing house on • Paint kitchen (paint provided by customer) before cabinets are installed • Install kitchen cabinets, cabinetry crown molding, 3cm level one granite, kitchen faucet and connect all plumbing and water line. • Install cabinet in wetbar area, 3cm level one granite faucet and connect all plumbing and water line • Install backsplash tile • Appliances will be installed by supplier (Customer responsibility) • Remove all debris from job site

Bryan was quick and responsive with his quote for the service. He met me at the house and quickly assessed the situation, provided suggestions, and turned around a quote within a couple days. The quote was actually the lowest we received due in part to the fact that he stuck to our request with no attempts to add on 'extras' we didn't request. His responsiveness between quote acceptance and the start of work was also top notch. I had a number of questions related to the process before work started and he was always considerate and quick with knowledgeable responses. He was very accommodating to our requests and had no issue without buying a providing all materials. Work itself was quick and of very high quality. Everyone who entered our home did so courteously and took great care to avoid damaging the rest of our home or creating unnecessary messes. They were also glad to work around our schedule to limit night/weekend work and pause progress on the odd day that we couldn't accommodate work being done. The entire team was very careful to take the time to properly understand our requests during each stage of work. Questions were asked as needed to ensure that every detail matched our requests during work with no guessing or assumptions on the part of the installation (or demo) teams. The completed project has exceeded any of our expectations. The details are where you really see the quality of the work. Trim was installed very well with no gaps or blemishes of any kind. The sealants around all plumbing fixtures (and the shower door) have a tight consistent bead with no sloppiness of any kind. And the tile install is beyond belief with every piece perfectly symmetrical with tight clean grout lines. Attached are photos of the before and after. I would highly recommend McHugh to anyone as the work was timely and of exceptional quality. The quote did not deviate and the only delays in the project were due to a hold-up on delivery of some of our tile. We ordered that ourselves and the hold up was in no was attributable to McHugh.

This project was done in Florida while we were in New Jersey. My wife picked the colors and fixtures and coordinated with Bryan McHugh via email and phone. Payment installment deposits were made as we went along and we made the final payment and inspection in person during our New Year's Florida visit. Somehow or another there was a miscommunication regarding the tub size and we ended up with one size smaller than she originally wanted but nothing we can't live with. To be fair, Bryan was willing to negotiate a price reduction based on our budget so it all worked out perfectly in the end. Now, for what I believe to be the critical part of this report: Angie's List reports gave Bryan McHugh and his team exemplary grades and he deserves them! If you're looking for someone you can trust, someone who is competent, ethical, and cares about people, then this is you man. There are so many horror stories out here, one hesitates to invest hard-earned money in what ultimately can turn out to be the luck of the draw, especially in a long-distance situation. So, thanks to Angie's List for providing at least some insight into local trade-folk, and for people like Bryan McHugh, his brother, Ben, and their team. They made our happy Florida retirement retreat even happier. PS: The water temp in the first bath needed adjusting and Bryan came and did the work himself the day after New Years. How's that for seeing the customer is happy and standing behind your work! Thanks, Bryan!

The project included tile floors, quartz counter tops, vanities, and wall tiles, as well as fixtures, sinks, bath tub with framing, two frameless showers (one with relocation of drain and water supplies), fixtures, fans, hardware, wall paint, drop ceiling and partial wall demolition, and re-flooring of two walk-in closets. About 8 different people worked on the project, and everyone was very professional and courteous. Bryan and Ben McHugh supervised the entire project closely, with Ben doing a lot on-site, hands-on work, and I was extremely impressed with their attitude and approach. My every concern and request were addressed promptly, and email communication was excellent. Their employees also did not waste time, performed quality work, and I would gladly hire every one of them. This is a really good group of people, and I am very happy I found them. The only issue we had was with the selection and delivery of the vanities and counter tops. I think that those could have been selected and ordered very early on, given the lead times we experienced. In summary, this is an excellent company, and wholeheartedly recommended.

I love the way my kitchen looks! What a difference in both looks and functionality. Bryan listened to what I wanted and was able to make it happen. All contractors were very nice and easy to work with.I am sure we were in the way at times but they did not appear bothered by us. Ben was the site manager and was very helpful and was pretty good about letting us know what was scheduled. There were a couple of delivery delays but it was from the cabinet manufacturer that did push back completion by several weeks. Only weakness was painting could have been better. Overall we are extremely happy our project.
Description of Work: They did complete kitchen remodel , including raising drop ceiling, all new electrical with under counter lighting, pot lights, rewiring a closet, making a custom recessed cabinet for microwave. Bryan was very good at scheduling his subcontractors to accomplish the work as quickly as possible. He referred me to a local cabinet manufacturer and a stone warehouse, where I chose my cabinets and countertop. I personally purchased the hardware, appliances, sink faucet, and marble tile and grout for the backsplash. I wouldn't say his subcontractors are perfectionists in their work, but I am overall very satisfied with the quality. It was done speedily and competently. Bryan is extremely efficient and professional and takes care to ensure his clients are happy. I pointed out a few things that still needed to be done, and he made sure someone came out and took care of them. His estimate for the remodel wasn't the cheapest I got, but it wasn't unreasonable, either. In my opinion, he was worth what he charged. He also advised me on some sensible ways to cut costs. I'm very happy with my new kitchen. Bryan listened to my vision and turned it into a reality. I would highly recommend this contractor to others. Incidentally, I found this contractor on Angie's List, so thank you to all who wrote reviews.
Description of Work: He completely remodeled my kitchen. The only things left from the old kitchen are the floor and ceiling fan. He also removed a wall, raised the dropped ceiling, did some dry wall repair, and turned a window into French doors.

This was the first time we ever hired a contractor for work in our home. Bryan was quick to respond to our request for a quote. Their quote came in about average with other contractors so we decided to select Bryan because of his professionalism, speed of response during the quoting process, and his portfolio. Bryan knows bathrooms so well, he was the only contractor who performed his quote without taking measurements. Once the work started my communication turned to Ben, Bryan brother and project manager. Throughout the process I received texts and phone calls every evening giving me the update of work done that day and the anticipated work to be done the next day. Ben's eye for design was a tremendous help. We sent Ben pictures via text message of items that we liked in Home Depot and Lowes and Ben would find a way to work them into the design. In fact, all of our communication took place via cell phones, texts, and emails. It was the easiest way to communicate with our busy schedules and Ben instilled a sense of trust that left us without worry throughout the process. Ben's team was so committed to the timeline that on 2 occasions workers came to the house on a Saturday (after asking permission) in order to get work done quickly and accurately. The team was incredibly clean and detailed. What was also incredibly impressive was their focus on the work far outweighed their focus on the money. In fact, in every conversation, discussions about payment were always put to the side and the focus was on the quality of work. We are eager to hire Bryan and Ben again as our kitchen and second bath need updating. We won't even go out to bid on these projects. McHugh's Construction is our family contractor!

The cabinetry is really quite beautiful even though it was imported. It's been two years since it was installed, and it looks just as great as the day it was installed. I thought that it was American made since their showroom is in Tampa, but it turned out that it was imported. All the cabinets are functioning as well as they did when installed two years ago and retain their beautiful finish. One of the features that I like are the pull out shelves that are part of the cabinetry around the refrigerator. It's a totally new kitchen and very beautiful. I am very happy with it. Brian and his workers do very good work and work quickly. Sometimes I wasn't able to get in touch with him right away, but he always returned the call. I'm very happy with my beautiful new kitchen.
Description of Work: Installed total new kitchen: new cabinetry, new granite countertop, new appliances (cost separate), constructed new cabinetry around top and sides of refrigerator, and extended granite countertop out to form larger workspace (in lieu of an island) with storage cabinets underneath. They also removed a dividing wall between the kitchen and living room to open up the space, removed an old furnace that was no longer being used, and installed some pendulum lights and some recessed ceiling lights in the kitchen and a new granite window sill.

Very smooth and pleasant remodel. Bryan McHugh is the owner, and he came to my home to give me an estimate. He dealt with the contract and financial aspects while his brother Ben McHugh supervised the actual construction. Both brothers are very pleasant, professional, and prompt. Ben kept me informed of the subs schedules and promptly returned my calls or texts. All of the subs showed up on time and prepared to work. Most of the subs were very careful not to leave dirt or debris behind. Everyone was considerate about entering and leaving the house. Any concern I had was immediately addressed to my satisfaction. In fact, neither brother balked when at one point after the granite was installed I thought I might want to change it out for a different style. The new master bathroom is beautiful and I'm getting tons of compliments on it.
Description of Work: Complete update of large master bath. Replaced tile around tub and shower with Travertine. New wood cabinets & granite. Replaced glass shower enclosure with frameless glass. Removed soffit with fluorescent lighting and installed mirrors and light fixtures. Removed medicine cabinet and repaired drywall. New jacuzzi tub (with heating element), toilet, sinks, fixtures.

So... the final result was excellent. Getting there had a few hiccups that resulted in taking longer time than was planned. The company is clearly capable of performing superior work, but there were some unexpected delays due to internal communications and planning. The clean up after the job was not as thorough as I expected (however, I am a perfectionist), but the overall results were such that I would highly recommend and use for future work.

After several emails back and forth, Mr. McHugh came to my house to discuss our project. He promised to provide an estimate to convert a large closet to a laundry room. It's been 6 days ... we are still waiting for the estimate.

We initially contacted three contractors off Angies List to give us a quote to remodel our Master Bathroom. The first, which happened to be the highest rated, was going to charge $150 just to come out and give us an estimate plus they would not be able to start work for five months. We quickly moved to the second which was a Kitchen and Bath "Design" firm. They gave us a quote of almost $30K. We ended up going with Bryan McHugh and were very glad we did. After the initial call, Bryan was able to come out in a couple of days. We received an estimate in only a couple of days and the guys started work within a couple of weeks. Everything went very well and very efficiently. We were very happy with the end result and would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Response from McHugh's Residential Construction
We enjoyed this project very much. It was a pleasure working with you and the new master bathroom looks excellent. It took a little searching but I'm glad we were able to find a piece of granite that worked out so well.
