I did not see this email in the Angie's List message center until it was too late. Typically I get a phone call or email to let me know someone has sent me a message through Angie's List but I did not this time. Usually if I get a phone call or email I return it either immediately or certainly within one business day. I often encourage people to give me a phone call if they do not get an email response from me within a day after they send an email because if that is the case typically the email went to spam or didn't go through for some reason. My apologies to this member and hopefully it doesn't happen again as I will try to check the message center more often whether I get a notification or not.

We interviewed several contractors found on Angie's list for a complete remodel of our 2 BR condo. We were most impressed and comfortable with Bryan McHugh. Bryan McHugh was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He worked with us to meet our needs and wishes and stayed within our budget. He offered helpful suggestions on design and materials. His crew was on time and completed job in a timely manner. Bryan listened to our concerns along the way and answered all our questions about project. Our place was left clean and ready for move in. We are extremely happy with our finished project and would definitely hire again.

When someone buys a new home and we renovate the entire home it is always fun for everyone because the home owners are excited to move in and that makes the project more enjoyable. Everything looks great. Thank you very much for your business and we hope you enjoy your new home.

After being hesitant about redoing my kitchen, I found this company to be extremely helpful. They are a wonderful group of people. They are very easy to get along with. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I felt very comfortable with giving them my key to the house and trusting them to set my alarm when they left. I highly recommend them for any type of kitchen work.

The project was a complete success. Additional points worth mentioning: 1. I live in Chicago and this condo is a vacation property for my family and me. 2. We only traveled to see the progress once during the renovation. 3. The entire project was basically managed via phone calls and emails Given the estimated project cost, my wife and I interviewed several contractors for this work. We chose Bryan for several reasons: 1. He is very professional and to the point. He is not a salesman, but very confident in what needs to be done. Given this would be managed remotely, we wanted a contractor who came across as honest and not overly 'chatty'. Bryan cuts right to any issues or concerns and discusses options without any excuses. 2. He provided some nice design guidance and gave us the sense he would be able to make any improvements and good judgement calls if needed. 3. Very responsive and accommodating to our schedule. Since we were only in town for a weekend to make our decision, he was very quick with turning around a solid quote and took as much time as we needed to answer our questions and get the contract in place 4. Angie's List reviews We were very happy with they way the project was managed and the quality of the work. Bryan sent pictures as requested and posted us on the weekly schedule and progress. Once complete, Bryan took care of any requested rework in a very timely fashion and even followed up after the project was complete to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. I highly recommend Bryan and his team, and my family is very thankful for the beautiful transformation which took place in our new vacation home through the hard work and craftmanship of McHugh's Construction company.
Description of Work: Entire 1100 sq ft condo renovation. Tile floors throughout and bathrooms completely redone, kitchen completely redone, new HVAC unit, new exterior windows and doors, balcony redone (painting, tile, electrical), all solid wood cabinets and granite throughout, all new fixtures; shower fixtures, sinks, faucets, toilets, mirrors, vanity lights, new baseboards, popcorn ceilings stripped and retextured, full paint job, new interior doors and casing. This was essentially a 100 percent complete renovation to the condo.

We had a few problems but Bryan made them right. All work was done to our complete satisfaction. Bryan was in touch with us on a daily basis and came to our home at least once a week to check on the work that had been done. He always retuned any calls in a very timely manner. We have recommended McHugh Construction to others and we plan to use him again in the future.

First, I called Bryan for a consultation. He was available To come to my house within a few days to see the space, To offer advice ,to measure, anf finally to give me an Estimate. After checking on costs, he emailed me an estimate within A week. He then told me that they could begin the job in about 10 Days which was wonderful. I was also given an approximate Date of fiinishing the job. The men came to do the demolition a few days later. Then the crew came backm2 days after to begin tiling And working on the rest. The entire job only took about 5 days for an L shaped Bath with 2 parts, one of which included the vanity area. Only one glitch occurred which was a shower door on Back order. The ret of the work was done on time and To my satisfaction.
Description of Work: Bryan was very helpful with planning of the master bath reno. He was knowledgeable about what would look and fit best. The bath was divided into the main section with a secon part With another sink and vanity are. His crew was polite and punctional and cleaned up well for The most part at th end of work days. Bryan was good about returning my calls when I had questions. The end result was lovely and comfortable. Yes, I would definitely use his compant again.

When we called Bryan for an estimate, he was quite thorough as he walked through the house and looked up in the attic. I must say, he was the only one out of the other contractors who took the time to do this. After receiving the estimates we decided to go with his estimate. The work was finished pretty close to date promised. There were delays, but not because of the work, it was because of the several inspections that needed to get done before they could move forward. Whatever we wanted was discussed and either done or not done - depending on the good advice we got. We did not live here for most of the renovations, so this made it easier on everyone.
Description of Work: We hired Bryan to remodel the master bedroom and master bathroom. Also some other additions in other rooms of the house. We had some walls put up and some knocked down. We added a large walk-in closet and closed off the bathroom (the sink was actually in the bedroom) to make it a separate room. The bathroom floor extension was tiled to match the floor that was already there. We chose wood flooring for the master bedroom and guest room. Both rooms installed perfectly. We had the completed room painted, and added a ceiling fan. We had clean-sided toilets installed in both bathrooms and a new sink in the guest bathroom. All work done to code. This was no easy job and required the coordination of several skilled workers. At the end, Bryan had a professional cleaning company come in and tidy up the place. My husband and I are both quite pleased with Bryan's work and his professionalism. The workers that we met were polite and knowledgable. If there was a problem, it was dealt with swiftly and to our satisfaction. Please feel that you can use this company with confidence.

He decided my project was to small for him.
Description of Work: I called to set up an appointment to remodel the master bathroom in a 2008 home I purchased in NPR in the Aristida subsivision. The house is close to 7,000 sf. The bathroom is huge but not with the colors of my choice. I described what I wanted to do with the bathroom; open a window for more light in the shower area, replace the shower tile, install body sprays, two shower heads, install marble/granite counters. Bryan asked me my budget and I told him it was a open budget. He said the job was to small for him and that he will do only complete bathroom remodels. I had a long list of more things I wanted to change to the Italian Villa I recently purchased like, interior paint, install new mirrors in vanities, renovate kitchen island, change cabinet doors, etc But I decided not to explain or give him anymore information since his initial response was to ask about my budget and he repeated that he will not do small jobs. This is a $2,000,000 property and the Budget was not going to be a problem, I'm budgeting around $150,000 to change the bathroom, details to kitchen, interior paint and landscape.

Brian arrived at the house to collect info for estimating the job. Brian arrived 5 minutes ahead of the designated time. I was impressed and learned that being on time and ahead of schedule was always Brian's goal. Brian worked with the cabinet maker designing a layout for the replacement cabinets. The results was better utilization of the existing space. We make an appointment to meet with the cabinet maker to select material and style to be used. Next we went to pick out the granite for the countertops. That visit resulted in an upgrade in granite to be used. Brian suggested we consider a granite sink in our design. All was selected and we were ready to go. Brian coordinated his contractors and determined the start date. No delays. On the first day, the old kitchen was removed from the house. Great care was taken in covering furniture to minimize the dust and the area was cleaned at the end of the day. Day 2 and 3 the cabinets were delivered and installed. The installer took great pride in his work and did not rush through the installing process. Day 4 the granite contractor arrived to measure for cutting the granite. He measured 3 or 4 times to make sure everything would be just right. On day 5 the granite was installed. We were pleased that the granite was able to be installed without seams. GREAT JOB! The backsplash was a rough tile and that part of the job was completed on day 6. On day 7 all the electrical was completed. We had 7 recessed lights installed on a dimmer and a new microwave installed over the stove. The electrical panel was updated. One week from start to finish. Work area was cleaned up every evening to allow us to live and use the area during the construction. Brian said it would be a week and it was a week. Price was agreed to and never adjusted. Result! WOW. More space to store things in the kitchen area. We are both pleased beyond belief at the results. We have only great things to say about Brian and his team of professionals.

One of the main reasons I picked Bryan was that he is a general contractor. There were a couple of minor hitches along the way but I didn't have to hire another company to fix it. I am also someone who has a hard time picking things out and everyone was very kind and didn't rush me, making lots of suggestions. They were also punctual. Bryan and Ben were great and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them for another job.
Description of Work: My husband and I chose Bryan McHugh to renovate our kitchen. His team did a wonderful job. We put in new cabinets and granite countertops. We thought we would have a really big problem with a window pass through to the patio area Other companies weren't sure how to deal with it. His granite contractor was great and did an amazing job with just one seam in a corner in our large kitchen. Bryan sent us to great places that he works with for cabinets, granite, tile, and plumbing. The cabinet installers were meticulous.

A 3 week project turned into 5 weeks. Yes, there would be a day delay in between inspections but the schedule lacked coordination. The tile guy was scheduled to come on a Saturday but no one bothered to call the tile supplier to see if they were open on Saturday so that the tile guy could pick up the tile which caused a delay. The plastering where the flourescent lights were was uneven and had to be retouched. The drywall had to be retouched in order to pass inspection because the drywall guys did not put in the requried screws needed. The floor tiles were installed the same day the custom cabinetry was to be installed. The end result was that the some of the newly grouted tile cracked under the weight of the cabinet installation. Emails and calls were made to Bryan to alert him of these incidents, he assured us it would be taken care of. He came by sporadically not after each job was done. He should have been here to see each step completed to address issues firsthand. Instead, I missed 5 weeks of work and had to inspect all the errors and get back to him. The second time we went to fill the bathtub after the job was completed, the shower valve popped off the wall. My husband sent him an email and he called the next day to say one of his handy men would come by. The handyman saw that the new shower valve had not been installed correctly. He finished it as best he could so that the carrera marble tiles would not have to be removed because the hole where the valve was not big enough. That worked until today less than 5 months after completion when I went to fill up the tub and the faucet for the tub does not work. The shower comes on but the water does not pour into the tub.So tomorrow, I will be calling a PROFESSIONAL PLUMBER to do the work that this company failed to do.

Remodel is not quite finished but it's gone so incredibly well I had to start the review now and add details later. Work started on Jan 3 and in ONE month here's what they've done: gut kitchen including remove wall and soffit, gut bathroom & remove soffit, remove carpet, remove popcorn from all ceilings then texture and paint, tear out old in-ground spa, install drywall, relocate electrical and lighting in all rooms, install tile, cabinets, and granite in kitchen & bath, and paint all rooms. Only big things left are wood floors going in this week and resurface the patio next week. I heard horror stories about living through a renovation, especially popcorn removal, but it's been a breeze. Bryan's great to work with, organized and responsive, and has a team of skilled and just really nice guys. (An added bonus is Bryan's eye for design - some of my favorite changes were his suggestions.) We got estimates from 3 A-rated companies on Angie's list and there is no doubt we chose the right one. Excellent experience. Excellent company.

Overall it went extremely well. We had a very short timeline to complete the remodel (4 weeks total). We got several quotes from contractors on angie's list and our decision was based primarily on two items; cost and whether we thought the contractor could complete the project in 4 weeks. We chose Bryan because he was very confident he could complete the job in the 4 week timeline. He even committed in our contract to the date. He was also one of the only contractors that provided us their quote when they said they would. Bryan has a base crew of guys that you can tell are experienced in the work they do. He did use subs for plumbing, electrical, flooring, and painting. We had minor issues with the flooring and plumbing but, Bryan resolved the issues no questions asked. We've done remodels in the past and there's always things that come up. What impressed us about Bryan was how he handled the issues that came up. He never tried to push the problem off on us. Just this week we had a minor issue come up with a drain in the bathroom. I emailed Bryan and he has his plumber out the next day to fix the issue...again no questions asked. This is after he had received full payment for all of his services. It's hard to find contractors that are responsive after your don't owe them money. We also added some items along the way and felt that Bryan gave us a very good price for the add ons. We are VERY happy with the finished product. Bryan created our dream home and we'd definitely recommend him to family and friends.
Description of Work: Bryan and his crew performed a major remodel of our home (kitchen, 3 bathrooms, flooring, laundry room). This included removal of popcorn ceilings and painting of almost every room in our house. Our kitchen was completely gutted down to concrete floor and studs. A large wall separating the living room from the kitchen was removed. All the tile flooring in the main living area was removed and replaced with hardwood. Two of the bathrooms were completed gutted and the half bath had flooring replaced.

Description of Work: Bryan's work and company was truly impressive. He did exactly what I wanted, kept me informed and kept within my budget. I couldn't be more pleased! He made my home a show place. I spoke with many contractors including Lowes and several others on this list. Bryan was only person to follow through with his quotes, and untimately his work. The others either didn't show to even do a quote, or showed and then were too busy to even give me a quote on the work...

Bryan was prompt and punctual to our meeting for the estimate. He was professional, but almost to a fault. Maybe it was a bad day for him, but his personal manner left much to be desired. He took measurements and said just about the absolute minimum that was needed for him to rush out. An estimate was emailed to us within a satisfactory time frame, but it was the most expensive estimate we received (we got about 4 in total). I hate to rate someone based entirely on their "friendliness", but I didn't get the feeling that he was interested or excited about getting my business.
