Steve arrived about 5 minutes early in a modest-looking passenger van. He took a brief look at the situation upstairs (I had already removed all the furniture, so the floor was clear), went back to the van to get his tools, and set to work. He was finished in a couple minutes less than half an hour, and the carpet had been restored to its original condition ? every wrinkle had disappeared. I continued to work on other things on the main floor of the house while Steve worked upstairs, and while there were a few thumps and bumps, on the whole there was not a lot of noise, so besides being fast, the work was done quietly, as well. I helped Steve pick up the thin strips of carpet that had been trimmed as a result of the re-stretching, and those strips went into a 13-gallon trash bag with plenty of room to spare. After Steve left, I spent some time vacuuming around the edges of the room before bringing the furniture back upstairs. All in all, I thought he did a thoroughly professional and efficient job. Steve's quoted price was $75 for the first hour, and $45 for every hour thereafter, and I had no idea what was involved in repairing the carpet. I was pleasantly surprised that he finished the job in less than an hour, and $75 seemed a very reasonable charge for work done well and speedily. In the past, a few service providers have held onto payment checks for as long as two weeks, which throws off my own personal bookkeeping and cash flow, but Steve deposited the $75 payment check I wrote promptly. That, too, was a plus. Should I need this sort of work done at some point in the future, I'd certainly call Steve's Carpet Repair first.

priceI purchased the Big Deal from this provider, Steve's Carpet Repair. I wrote an e-mail explaining what I needed to have done, and the hours that would best work for me. I did not receive a reply. Today I looked up the number, called, and left a message. One hour later, he returned my call. I explained that I had not been able to reach him; that perhaps I had missed his call, and would like to set up an appointment. The response was that he had called me back on a certain day, I did not respond to this (first) call, therefore, he did not call me back. I inquired whether he had e-mailed me, and he said no. After that, he asked what I wanted done; which is a small carpet laid in a room 12' x15'. He talked very fast and loud, while I tried to interject something in the conversation. He said he did only carpet repair and re-stretching only. I told him I had not been told he did not lay carpet in small rooms; the impression I was given was he did. I told him in that case, I would accept a refund. He was loud and adamant that HE did not have my money, that Angie's had it. Why he chose to shout, I do not know. While my hearing is not perfect, it is certainly adequate. I then told him I would contact Angie's List, and take care of the matter. I have written to Angie's customer support regarding this matter.

Steve was very professional and did a wonderful job. He's a one man show. He was able to stretch the carpet in three areas of my home. One area is a bonus room that is quite large. He completed the job in a little over an hour and was reasonably priced. He did a great job cleaning up the extra carpet he had to cut off, too. I'd hire him again and refer him to all my friends.

Everything went fine, he's a hard worker, and he doesn't waste any time. I thought it would take longer than it did, but he was fast. We are very satisfied.

I needed a 6" X 18" piece of carpet installed where we replaced a interior door with french doors. I wanted the repair to be completed before a house showing 2 days later. Steve had a cancelation, called me and completed the repair in a 2 hour time frame. He was very fast, efficient, reasonable priced and polite.

I received a voucher for my purchase of carpet stretching. Cost $75. Steve's contacted me and told me we had to have all of the furniture moved out of the living room. I told him that it was impossible for my wife and me to move it because we were in our upper 60's and he said then he wouldn't do the job. So I am asking for a refund of $75. Thank you Tony Mahowald

Steve contacted me promptly but did not appear to be interested in doing the job (restretching carpet in a finished basement). He told me that he could not guarantee the work unless all furniture was removed first. We seemed to reach an impasse when I told him that removing all of the furniture in advance would be impossible since I have nowhere to put it, and I'm really not able to move things from place to place while the work is being done without help. I need someone who has the manpower to help move the furniture around.

Steve did a great job of taking care of the ripples in the carpet and even pointed out one that we had missed. I would recommend him for any carpet repair needs.

Steve was great! Affordable, professional, and great results. We had slight flooding in the basement but we were able to lift the carpet within hours of it getting wet. We ripped out the padding ourselves and had Steve install new padding and restretch our carpet once our basement was completely dry. He finished the job in less than 2 hours and the room looks great.

Steve was great. He quickly repaired a patch about 2 feet by 4 feet. It turned out great. I would use him again in a minute. Great guy.

Steve was very responsive and scheduled an appointment with us right away. I was a little hesitant to have someone come out and do the work without a sense of the cost involved, but based on the reviews posted on Angie's List, I felt more comfortable proceeding. Steve called to confirm the night before arriving and came as scheduled and ready to work. He listened to all of our concerns and said he would "do his best" to resolve everything. He more than exceeded expectations, fixing all of the areas perfectly! My only advice to Steve would be to be more confident over the phone and with clients on-site; you do wonderful work!

Steve is responsive, quick and punctual. He replaced the carpet on a couple stairs where the carpet was ruined by a cat. It only took him 15 minutes to complete the repair.

Steve did a great job!!! I called on a Monday and he made a trip out that day. After the basement was dry he was able to put down new pad and put the carpet back in place.

Our dog did a number on our carpet! She dug a whole all the way through to the floor boards! I called Steve the day after it happened and he was able to come over within a couple hours and fixed it right up. We were lucky that we had spare carpet and Steve provided the carpet padding since we didn't have any. He was done within an hour and did a great job! You can't even tell where the hole was originally! We would definitely use Steve again if needed (but hope we don't have to too often).

Our puppy chewed a 3"x3" hole in our carpet where it meets the entry tile. I called Steve; left a message explaining the issue. Within 5 hours: (a) he returned my call, advising that he might be in my area that afternoon; (b) called shortly thereafter to say he would be in my area and could stop by; (c) arrived, examined the carpet, and repaired the carpet. Steve is a man of few words and immediate action. He was professional, knowledgeable, skilled and efficient. The carpet looks fantastic! Our immediate response was, "WOW!" The cost was less than the minimum charge another Angie's List contractor quoted. This was a perfect experience. Thank you Steve!

The job went great. Steve was on time (even called the night before to confirm) and asked questions throughout the process to ensure our expectations were met. The final product was excellent and at a great cost. We will be using and recommending Steve in the future.

Steve was very responsive from the time that I initially contacted him to the time he actually performed the work. He completed the work in a very timely manner and did an excellent job. He was very professional and courteous. I would definitely hire him again for future carpet needs and recommend him without hesitation.

Steve did a great job! We had quite a bit of damage from the June 2013 storm, so we've been working with a number of contractors (fencing, tree removal, carpet repair, phone, electrical). All of these contractors are swamped right now, and Steve was by far the easiest and most pleasant to work with. I called him on Monday, he returned my call Tuesday, and early Wednesday morning he came out and quickly replaced the pad and re-stretched the carpet so that the carpeting looks brand new again. He was clearly quite experienced and could tell immediately which parts needed replacing and what could be re-used. I tend to have a picky eye about how repairs should look, and to me the work looks perfect. I also really appreciated that, unlike some of the other vendors I've been calling, Steve charged his normal rates and didn't set extra-high prices because of the high demand after the storm.
