I called for emergency service because my gas furnace stopped working, Agent said the earliest they could come out was in three days. The temperature is 8 degrees!

I came home from work to find I had no heat. I called Joseph Frederick & Son to get emergency service and they told me to call back after 4:30pm because it was still business hours (and no they could not take a message) and not emergency time. So I called back 22 minutes later only to be told no one would call me until tomorrow - 26 degrees through the night with no heat is not an option.

They’ve done plumbing, heating and air conditioning for us. They were a little bit high but they were worth it because they’ll take care of you. If there’s an issue, they’ll come back and fix it. They will come right back. There’s no argument. They clean up after themselves. I’m on a premium plan because they take care of a number of properties for me.

UPDATE: These guys totally made me eat my own words. About a day after I posted this, the manager called me and came to fix the problem above and beyond. Very unhappy with these guys right now. The new gas heater was put in last year (summer) and worked well all through the winter. However, I started it up a year later and it wouldn't turn on. They came out to temporarily fix, but said something needs to be done for the long-term. Long story short, the heater is getting condensation built up in the heater. This condensation is solidifying and becoming gunk that clogs up my heater. This is probably due to the fact that the heater isn't getting hot enough to burn off that condensation. When installed, we suggested installing a by-pass to ensure the heater gets hot enough - we noticed it wasn't getting up to the suggested temperature even after hours of use. It's a hundred or so dollars and a half-day of work. They wrote this off and said it's not needed (for the sake of cost / time I'm sure). Now I have been waiting almost three weeks for the manager to "decide what to do". This is a one-year old heater with a problem already. That is unacceptable. The worst part is that this review would have been very, very good if not for their handling of this situation. However, it's just not acceptable to have a heater that has a problem a year after installation, as well as failure to even call me back after three weeks. Will update if / when I get a call back.

The two man crew was able to replace the pipe from under the kitchen sink. I thought they were going to have to go into the crawl space. And I thought it was going to cost a fortune. When the pipe was replaced, it was found that the line was clogged. It took quite some time but they cleared the line and they didn't charge me for the additional work. Awesome!

The guys that come to my house are always very nice and professional. They always answer my questions and give great advice to keep my heater/ ac in perfect working order. Once, the technician called me out side to tell me that my ornamental grass had to be cut around the ac unit or it would decrease my ac unit's life by making it work harder to keep the house cool.

Showed up on time, did quality work, very professional, called before coming out, I asked about doing some extra work to seal some heating ducts and they did it for free, I will definitely use them again

They were great; they were really good. I called a couple other plumbers and no one wanted to come and determine what the problem was based on what I described over the phone. It wasn't an easy solution because I didn't know what the problem was. I assumed I had a leak but I didn't know where it was coming from. They took the time to diagnose the problem which took almost an hour. They were more expensive than other people but you get what you pay for. It was a good value for me even though they were more expensive than a lot of people. I had one little problem after they left on something else they did and they came back with no hassle and no cost and they fixed the problem immediately.

While inspecting my furnace he noticed the pilot light was not firing correctly, but the gas was still coming in. I noticed that I would have to turn the heat up higher than normal this past winter. He called into the office and they rescheduled all of his appointments to someone else so he could stay here and fix it. He is great! I have even had to call them on a Saturday afternoon when I was having a family reunion, the man on the phone was so knowledgable, he knew exactly what the issue was without even coming out and taking a look!

They were great. Showed up on time, looked presentable and were very nice. I'll be back!

I called this company to get a quote on how much it would cost to have my kitchen floor vent extended by 21 inches from the wall with a toe kick of 4 inches. They told me that can't give me a price over the phone and that to have someone give me a price would cost me $79 for the technician to come out. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? That is definitely not a way to do business if you are trying to get new clients. Prior to calling this company, I had called 7 other companies & NONE of them said there would be a charge for a technician to come out and look at what needs to be done. As a matter of fact, 2 of the companies, William Day Company & Maichle's Heating and Air Conditioning had no problem give a quote over the phone. I will make sure that Joseph Frederick & Sons will be a company I will NEVER call again!

Tim and his associate were on time, very professional, and very neat in their work. It was a challenging job that involved removing the original 50-year-old fixtures and updating the plumbing, but they finished it superbly.

Most impressed with the Sales person that came out to do the estimate. He did not try to over-sell me, and found a solution for my unique circumstances that re-used some of my old equipment. It was not the lowest bid, but the price was comparable and clearly had my interests at the forefront. Installers kept the house very clean and were careful to ensure there was nothing in the way each day they left. Lines were installed professionally and anywhere they were not behind walls, they covered professionally to blend with the house. Systems have operated as expected without requiring return visits or repairs.

The installation went fine and I am overall happy with the product. I recently moved into an older home, and i have consulted them about other projects. I have given them a low mark in responsiveness because I spoke with one of the owners about installing a vent for my master bathroom and ducting the hood in my kitchen, and he never got back to me. I followed up by leaving him a voice mail message, and he never returned my call. I can understand if he thought the job was too difficult, etc., but I would have wanted my phone call returned in any event. I was particularly disappointed because he is one of the owners.

Jos Frederick & Sons was our 3rd estimate for replacing our not-very-old air conditioning unit. We told them who had been out before them, what the other companies had recommended then discussed what our options were. They took the time to explain why one system would work or not, went over more detail what we thought would be best for us (we went with a new hybrid unit). Unlike their competitors, we did not feel like we had to sign a contract the day we got our estimate, nothing felt rushed, but they were able to get in and replace the unit with in a week or 2 from initially coming out, just before the heat wave hit us. I'd definitely recommend them again. Their price was fair compared to competitors and our salesman took the time to explain why 1 unit was not better than another given our home's age and structure. We appreciated his patience and knowledge and they took the burden off a stressful situation (we were about to sign a contract for a bath renovation when the A/C died on us in the summer). :)

They are very good all around. I really like their service. They are responsive, easy to get a hold of. and always on time for the appointments. The price is good compared to their competitors.
