Description of Work: Calvert Heating & Cooling (also branded as "One Hour") did an outstanding job installing a new HVAC system in my daughter's town house in Pike Creek. All of their managers and workmen were very professional and their work was done extremely well. Even more impressive was our experience the evening of their final day of installation (2nd of 2 days). We called them about 9 PM because we didn't think the house was cooling enough. Within 15-20 minutes 3 technicians came and began diagnostics. Soon after a supervisor showed up who said he heard call come in. They diagnosed the problem in less than an hour and began replacing a component that was under-performing. They stayed 2-3 hours to be sure everything was working well before leaving. Since then everything has worked to our complete satisfaction. Their response that night was truly impressive, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Lastly, their bid for the job was about $1k less than a well known competitor who included a special discount. When I told their sales rep that we had chosen Calvert he became upset and said he would have lowered his bid to compete. I told him I prefer dealing with a company who gives me their best price the first time, which is what Calvert did.

Description of Work: Installed new gas burner/hot eater heating system to replace form oil susie, in 2014. OUTSTANDING service and price comparable to four other estimates. | |Now contracted to replace that system with more modern as part of fire restoration rebuilding. Best system for the money!

Description of Work: New furnace and oil line replacement. On time and everyone I dealt with was very professional. Did not spec out the vent pipe properly upon estimation so they put in a pipe that stuck out too far into a walk way. The installers were upfront about the error and said they installed what they had available so I could have heat that day and they would send someone out to correct it another day which they did. They brought over space heaters to tide me over until the work could be done which was a nice touch.

Description of Work: As a result of a sump pump failure, my basement had 18" of water which damaged the valve on the water heater. I assumed that my service contract of $12.95/month with Calvert would permit a discount on the replacement of the valve. It did not! Unfortunately I did not bother to get additional quotes and I have subsequently learned from other plumbers that I substantially overpaid for the job. I will be cancelling my service contract.

Was waiting for new monthly gas/electric bills to see any difference in the heating charges for the house, but our delivery costs went up, so cannot yet see any improvement. But, there sure is a warmth improvement!! Men from Calvert worked steadily, quietly, and efficiently. What I was expecting to be a noisy all-day job turned out to be about 5 hours, and I hardly knew they were in the house! Very pleasant guys, quick to explain anything I asked about, and wanted to make sure I knew all that was needed about the existing programmable thermostat in connection to the new heater. Would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Took out old (1985) whole house gas furnace, and installed new one, redirecting vent pipes out of chimney to directly out of basement.

+ -1 moreWanted to get annual service for oil burning forced hot air furnace that was running fine with no known problems. Had difficulty communicating with the office due to training of staff, hard to get basic information on what was included in various service plans. Was quoted $130 to $280 for annual tune-up and cleaning depending on "how dirty" the furnace was, sounded a bit dubious, but they were recommended on Angie's List and could come out a couple days later. The were on time and called right before they came. Replaced nozzle, cleaned flue pipe to chimney, inspected firebox, electrodes, and performed smoke test. Based on previous experience with other companies I was expecting a more thorough tune-up with additional measurements such as combustion efficiency and draft. Overall, I was not overly impressed with Calvert, had marginal confidence in the technician's knowledge, and will seek service elsewhere in the future.
