New Dawn Gardens

We met with him first to go over what we wanted cleaned and he thoroughly examined all of our yard. He gave us suggestions for the present and future and seemed extremely knowledgeable. He was a bit busy so it took some time to get on his schedule but the job was completed and done excellently. I hope to use him in the future for my landscaping needs.

Initially they said they did not service my area. However, they were going to help me, but I never heard back from them since.

Mr Miller was very responsive. We talked on the phone and he replied to my emails before he and his crew actually came. As a result he came prepared with everything needed and was very efficient. The crew was agreeable and willing to share their expertise. I feel I have learnt a lot from them. I am extremely satisfied and will use their services in the future. I am happy they decided to reposition my plants ? I have already noticed a big improvement in the health of my plants by this alone.

Unfortunately, the provider was unable to service my home due to location, but they were very nice in regards to helping me get my refund. It has been three weeks, and I've still haven't received it, but the company was more than wiling to work with me in order to get back my money. :)

Things went well. The service provider is very popular ,therefore very busy and not able to perform work in a timely manner.

Working with Richard was great. He came quickly to provide an estimate, and he was able to perform the work soon after providing the estimate. He not only cleaned up our yard area, but he provided great recommendations on how to care for the landscaping. We'll definitely be contacting him again in the future!

Provider was courteous, but let me know from the start that work couldn't be performed for several weeks out. Scheduling was delayed and because I didn't want to wait that long for service, we mutually agreed to cancel the deal and get a refund.

They sent me an email stating that I was out of their service area so they advised me to contact Angie’s List to get a refund. They were polite and professional, It may have been better though had they provided their service area in the deal description.

We had several contacts with the service provider. My husband called initially and the provider informed him at that time that we were outside his service area however he would still do the work. After that conversation they played phone tag several times. Finally I called and the service provider again said we were outside his service area. At this point we agreed that it would be best to request the refund and find a provider closer to home. The C rating relates the the length of time it took the provider to return calls.

He’s been very helpful over the phone to prepare for his visit. He'll be doing some digging for a garden. We look forward to having him.

Perfect. Richard and his crew are professional, do high quality work, generous, and fun to have around.

I use him one a month for yard work for me mostly. We arrange a date over the phone and he does out and does what he needs to do that month. He has a crew of 2 and they come out and work for an hour. Richard Miller is wonderful.

I was quite satisfied with their service. They had a good personal approach and gave good advice. The pricing was in line with other companies.

Service was courteous and cooperative. It took a little longer than expected to get on their work calendar and get the work done, but was satisfied.

Mr. Miller and an associate showed up promptly at the agreed-upon time of 10:00 AM. They worked non-stop for 3 hours, even though I had bought an Angie's List deal that only entitled me to two hours of their time. The yard looks beautiful - all weeds removed (and trust me, there were MANY weeds) and beds well-mulched. When I offered to pay more for the extra hour, Mr. Miller graciously turned me down, although I did give them a cash tip at the end. The only area in which New Dawn Gardens did not receive and A from me is responsiveness, because I have been trying since Thanksgiving to set a date with them for this service. Every time I suggested dates on which they could come - giving 3 to 4 options each time - they were unavailable. They came today because Mr. Miller called me last night to say they had an opening,and I was going to be at home. Overall, I found Mr. Miller to be very knowledgeable about plants (easily able to differentiate my perennials from my weeds, even though the beds were wildly overgrown), professional in demeanor, and hard-working. I would recommend New Dawn Gardens to anyone who can be flexible about time and date of service.

They cleaned up some small trees from yard. I did need to call them back as they missed a few but they were responsive.

I had purchased an Angie's List "Big Deal" for "4 hours of Fall Yard Clean-up and Garden Consultation". The first difficulty we experienced was in scheduling the initial consultation. Mr. Miller's schedule was very full, and the only time we could find available was late afternoon, when at that time of year (November) it is already getting dark. During the consultation, Mr. Miller came across as knowledgeable and friendly. He gave suggestions about existing elements of our landscape (e.g., recommendations regarding pruning or removing older azaleas and an apple tree), but did not offer significant new/creative ideas for landscaping or renovation. During the initial consultation, we discussed, but did not agree on, how to use the remaining time in the "4 hours of Fall Yard Clean-up" also offered as part of the "Big Deal"; there was also some confusion about whether the consultation was additional to or part of the four hours. The second difficulty we experienced was that Mr. Miller and his crew returned a few weeks later when I was out of town to do the "Clean-up" without my authorization. He had left a message on my voice mail the day before, but initiated work without hearing back from me or even knocking on the door (my husband was at home). When I called him, the work had already been completed, and he mentioned an additional charge. I assumed that my husband had authorized the specific work to be done and the additional work (beyond what was included in the "Big Deal") but this turned out not to be the case. Thus I was surprised to receive an invoice for an additional $250.00 in charges (on top of the $120.00 already paid for the "Big Deal"). I would have preferred to use the time remaining in the "Big Deal" for tasks requiring skilled labor (e.g., pruning) rather than digging out weedy shrubs, and would certainly not have authorized additional charges for work beyond what was in the "Big Deal". I proposed, and Mr. Miller graciously accepted, that we "split the difference", and I sent him an additional check for $122.00.

Robert came out on the weekend to talk to me and was able to come over and do the work during the week without me needing to have to leave work - very convenient for me. He also provided me with the estimate I had requested for a new patio. Everything looks great by the way!

Good, the yard looks wonderful. Even though it's November now, I am already looking forward to my garden next Spring.

After the initial offer on Angie's list, it took us a while to actually schedule the work. He came out promptly to get an idea of what we wanted and generated a proposal. We changed our mind about what we wanted as budget was a concern. It was several months before we decided what we wanted to focus on but, once this was clear the work was done.

Scheduling was tough, but once he came, he did a great job!! I was very happy with the advice & tips hegave me. The clean up and plants made all the difference in my garden. I am hoping to use them for bigger projects next year, if the price is low enough.

The work was done very well. There were no issues with the coupon except that it took about 6 months for the appointment.

We used them through a big deal on Angie's List. He was great.

Richard Miller, the owner of New Dream Gardens, came out to give us an estimate and discuss our preferences. He was both very professional and extremely knowledgeable about what needed to be done, appropriate materials given soil quality and types of plants. When they came out to do the job, he and his team preformed their tasks quickly and efficiently. The garden now looks great! I would recommend him to anyone who has the need for these servcies.

We purchased an Angies deal for a few hours of yard work and a yard consultation. It was a bit difficult to schedule, though in fairness, part of that was due to the fact that we work in DC and can't get back to the house for meetings before 7 on most days. Once we had a time scheduled, Richard was great. He knows his stuff and had some good suggestions. His team did a great job cleaning up the yard and getting our flower beds into shape. We hope to use New Dawn for some bigger jobs in the future.
