. I solicited service from Ohi Engineering Group (Kamran Ohi) to address a concern with the repair of a truss in the attic which had been identified to a prospective buyer during a Home Inspection. Mr. Ohi was very accommodating and agreed to come out on a Saturday to conduct the inspection. He was delayed slightly due to other jobs, but he kept me informed via telephone. Upon arrival he entered the attic and inspected the truss in question. He stated that although everything appeared satisfactory he would feel more confident if a few minor modifications were made. He agreed to make those modifications for me on the spot if I had the necessary materials, which I did. He completed the modifications and provided me with the written certification required by the potential buyer by the next evening allowing me to meet a tight time deadline in the sales contract The overall experience was conducted very professionally from start to finish. I would not hesitate to call upon Mr. Ohi again in the future if I were in need of the services of a Professional Engineer.

He could not have been nicer or easier to work with. He answered everything, fully and comprehensively. He also came quite a distance (we're in Olney, MD).

Kamran was professional and highly skilled in structural engineering. He helped me assess what could be done as prevenative measures to make sure that the brickwork maintains in the best state. His recommendations were invaluable. I highly recommend him.

He was great. He did a thorough inspection and gave me a written report. He was thorough and went from attic to cellar to look at every single in the house. I felt the amount of time he spent was worth it. I liked the fact he was thorough and the price was fair. I called them on a Thursday and they came out the following Sunday, so they were pretty responsive. I will use them again in the future.

Mr. Ohi returned my initial phone call within an hour and went out of his way to schedule an appointment to meet my schedule. He arrived exactly when he said he would. He provided me with multiple solutions and answered all of my questions.

We were very pleased with Mr. Ohi's service. He responded quickly to our inquiries over phone and gave us an appointment within a day. He arrived on time and was very thorough in his inspection. He found out structural issues in the house we were looking at and prevented us from making a wrong buy. We would strongly recommend him for any structural inspection.

He thoroughly inspected the inside and outside of the house and took pictures of the roofing problems and bad installation that had caused my problems. I added an additional request to the inspection that he make a written report including the pictures so I could forward it to the roofing company. He responded quickly by email with the attachment of the report that could easily be forwarded. I would highly recommend his professional consultation. I will hire him again to inspect whatever major work I have done in the future to make sure there are no problems that could cause issues in the future.

He even offered to take less than his normal fee of $250 but we thought it was well worth it and now we can sleep better knowing that we don't have any serious problems.

Great. Mr. Ohi called back very quickly after I called to ask about having the inspection done. He scheduled us for an appointment within just a couple of days--he even came out on a Sunday, which was great because it allowed both my husband and me to be there. Mr. Ohi assisted us in determining the extent of any repairs needed for our chimney since we had received a wide range of estimates and weren't sure which contractor to believe. He also gave some recommendations for other things we could do to prevent moisture from seeping into the house. He pointed out some issues with our deck and gave us ideas for simple fixes we could do to make it even more secure. He did a walk-around of the house to look at the masonry and then finished with a look at our basement. Our conversation with him helped us decide on a chimney contractor and put our minds at ease regarding the condition of our home's structure. We would definitely hire him again in the future.

Mr. Ohi is truly an expert in his field and in spotting both existing problems and potential problems and knowing how to deal with them. I had researched structural engineers on Angie's List, on a structural engineers' professional-association website covering the DC area, and on Consumers' Checkbook, and had found several possible providers. All from the pro-association's website wanted a minimum of $450 to look at my little town house. I kept searching on Angie's List and found Mr. Ohi, who charged much less but provided the same service with the bonus that he has the professional background to appraise not just structural issues but also other issues that can affect a house's well-being such as water infiltration, grading, foundation crack treatment, concrete porch reinforcement, and gutter slope--to name but a few. Mr. Ohi was a few minutes late arriving because his previous appointment ran overtime, but he did call, and my schedule for the day allowed me to wait for him, so that was not really a problem. He was worth the wait. No detail escaped his notice. He appraised everything I showed him and settled my mind that nothing was seriously wrong with my house. He also found some other problems that I should consider fixing (some of which I was already aware of and some of which I wasn't), which is exactly what I wanted him to do. I told him that I wanted the unvarnished truth, and he provided it. He suggested a number of fixes for sealing the cracks, reseating some siding that had separated near the back gutter and may have been allowing water to come in behind the wall, reinforcing my front porch with concrete and additional dirt to solve the soil erosion around it, regrading the backyard, putting in a taller window well, and checking the slope of the back gutters so that they drain optimally. I felt very relieved to hear from an expert that my house was not in danger of collapsing and that expensive foundation jacks were not warranted, and I came away with a list of specific repairs, as well as Mr. Ohi's advice about which fixes should be priorities. Mr. Ohi also recommended someone who could handle the repairs. My house received a thorough assessment from someone who knew what he was looking at, and I now have a blueprint for keeping my house in good shape. A bonus for me was to find out that, 27 years ago, Mr. Ohi worked on my company's new (at the time) office building, and he told me about an experience he had while working on the building. As a longtime employee and all-around fan of the organization I work for, it was fun for me to hear about what happened to this building that I'm in most days of my life.

Kamran came to inspect our home after the earthquake. Despite being in high demand he was able to squeeze us in and showed up with the impending hurricane. He inspected the damage from the earthquake and left no stone unturned. He pointed out problems and explained solutions. Only one structural issue from the earthquake, the rest were just old house issues . He was professional and very helpful even giving some advice on our upcoming renovations.

We called Mr. Ohi to inspect a crack that we had on our basement ceiling which we noticed after an earthquake. Mr. Ohi inspected the the ceiling and ensured us that that the damage was nothing more than cosmetic and that there was no structural concerns. Mr Ohi, also inspected other areas of the home and was very fairly priced. Our experience with his services was excellent and we would definitely refer him to any of our friends and family in the future.

Very well. Mr Ohi was timely and thorough. He came in to verify whether we had a load bearing wall that had been compromised by our terminated-for-cause contractor. He inspected all floors to include the crawlspace in the dormer,double checking his measurements. He sat down with us and spent time to explain with visual aids,the solutions on how best to resolve the load issue. Mr.Ohi shared historical background data on our home contributing to our knowledge base as homeowners and consumers, once again using visual aids as applicable. He has been our best time and money investment. Superlative!

I was trying to raise a structural beam that supported several floor joists and the stair landing. I called several contractors who were not interested, so I called Mr. Ohi to see if he could come take a look. He was great--got back to me right away when I called him, and he came out to inspect the next day. He pointed out a secondary supporting beam that I hadn't noticed, and was able to explain how the new support structure would work. Within about a week, he had provided me with detailed architectural drawings by e-mail. He also recommended two contractors who were both willing to do the work for a reasonable price. He provided the solution to a complicated problem--I would definitely call him again.

He was very patient and explained things in a very clear way. He also was very thorough and easy to communicate with.

This is a fabulous company. I would recommend them highly. They are professional. Their price is amazing. I got an estimate of $4000 from a different company and it was exorbitant. I would use them in the future.

After noticing water leaking into our basement, I found a crack in our home's foundation. I called a foundation repair company and was devastated at how much it would cost. I looked up engineers in Angies List and called Mr. Ohi (because of his good rating) for a second opinion. When he came out and said the crack wasn't the problem I was relieved!. He suggested several other options and solutions in order to keep our house waterproof, safe, and from further harm. I have to admit that I was a little apprehensive to pay someone $250 just to look at the house and not even fix anything, but in the end I am very glad I did! It was worth the money since he saved my family and I several thousands of dollars in the end! I definitely would recommend him!

He gave us his opinion immediately. He was obviously very knowledgeable and a very comfortable expert in his field. He was able to explain to us what we thought were complicated matters. his visit went very well. he assured us that the foundation looked good & did not seem to be settling. he did advise on dealing with our gutters & downspouts. In addition, we will monitor some cracks in the brick foundation area.

I was in a serious time crunch to get the house inspected while I was town and to stay on schedule to close quickly. I called Mr. Ohi on a Tuesday morning and explained the situation about a crack found by the inspector. He was able to get out early the next morning. He inspected the area and walked around the interior and exterior of the house just to look for any other signs of problems. He said he was not worried at all by the crack, and he saw no other signs of problems. He did note that the drainage around the house could be improved, and that in the future, I may want to make some improvements. He would have charged more for a written report, but I only needed the verbal report. I just needed to know that the house was structurally sound and no immediate structure remediation was needed. I really appreciated how quickly he was able to get to the house and provide the information I needed.

The actual work has not yet been done by this company. I will send an evaluation later. My experience with Mr. Ohi was excellent, both personally land professionally.

Absolutely worth it--fantastic. My home inspector notice fire damage to attic beams and joists as well as attic floor joists. He said I would probably need to fix and suggested a structural engineer evaluation. Contractor looked at wood and showed me how it was squishy and said it would definitely need work, about 5k worth to reinforce beams and joists. Told me engineer would say same thing and not worth it, but I hired Kamran anyway. Kamran took a hammer to the wood, peeled off the 1/8 inch of char, then tested the wood by hammering it and showed me how the wood was still strong and teh damage was only 1/8 inch deep (charring is how wood protects itself, he explained). Said I absolutely did not need to spend the 5k. Not only did he save me the money, but also gave me peace of mind. Even if I had not done the work and had not hired him, it would have been harder to sleep at night if there was a big snowstorm dumping weight on the roof. Now I will sleep soundly. The peace of mind alone was worth the money, as would be saving $5,000. Kamran was also very professional and very good at explaining things. He also talked to me about other structural issues like how the house had settled (not a problem considering the age of the house). I liked him a lot and have never been so happy to write a check.
