George was prompt and professional. Price seems reasonable for the service. He explained everything fully and didn't try to oversell things we didn't need. Assuming the roof holds up, we're happy customers!

I had a massive leak in the roof of my Cap Hill row house. G&G was quick, responsive, and provided great service at a competitive price. Their customer service was honest, straightforward, and made me feel at ease. The quality of the work was great. I had a home inspection shortly after the roof repairs (selling the house), which turned up a minor additional repair - G&G came out to fix it right away without any hassle.

I always appreciate the responsiveness of G & G--if I leave a voicemail, they call back the same day. They work with my schedule and show up when they say they will (to the minute!) I like that they are a family owned company and their employees are kind people who work hard. Really appreciate that George takes pictures so I can see what's going on on top of my roof, since I'm not great with ladders. They are not the cheapest but they stand behind their work and will come back whenever there is an issue. Trustworthiness is priceless!

They did a terrible job. They did not use new material, the material they used looked like it had been used before, and one of them was constantly leaking. They were demanding half payment, and they were demanding the other half while the roof was still leaking. I had to go back to them 4 times. I was tired of dealing with George Martins who came to do the estimate and collect the payments. He was very rude, and at times I thought he may have even been drinking. They charged me $2900 for 2 small roofs, and gave me used material. They were there on time every time I set a time to use them.

Mr. Martin came out to offer us an estimate on fixing a leak, but found that the cause was probably a plumbing issue rather than a roof problem. He was thoughtful, thorough, and professional. He explained why he thought the issue was related to plumbing, spent time looking at the pipes, and even went onto the roof to be certain he could see no problems, even after he had concluded that it was likely not something he could fix. We appreciated his honesty very much, and my husband commented that he was the best service provider we have ever called out to the house. We wouldn't hesitate to call him again in the future.

I am on the list to have my repair finished as soon as weather is permitting. His estimate was right on target with others I received (minus the one person who tried to tell me I needed a whole new roof). He even suggested that I recoat my whole roof but that it wasn't urgent and I could do this later on in the fall.

George was very responsive and professional. He provided an estimate that was thorough and insightful. The work was completed days later, and I was amazed that from the time I called to the time the work was completed was under a week. The work, from what I can tell, looks to be done very well. In the course of their work when an outdoor light bulb was broken, they replaced it immediately. G&G is one of the best contractors I have worked with, and I will definitely use them again for all future roofing needs.

Mr. Martin was very speedy in responding to our Angie's list query. Within a week he was personally out to assess a leaky ceiling. He called well enough ahead of time to let us know he was going to be 20 minutes late and was very apologetic when he came. It wasn't a big deal at all. He hopped up on our roof, found the problem area and because it wasn't a big problem, sealed the area and explained the problem in easy to understand terms. Best of all, because it was an easy fix, he didn't charge us for his time. It rained yesterday and we had no water in the house, so he must have correctly identified the problem and fixed it where another roofer had previously failed to. I'll definitely be calling George for any and all roofing problems in the future. He seemed like an honest and stand-up guy.

George, came out inspected my roof on a Saturday which works with my schedule! He was thorough and offered to make a minor repair (simple caulking) at no extra charge. He provided good advice and although I have to wait and and see if the minor repair resolves my issue with the leak over my porch I am confident his assessment gives me an idea of what my options are especially living in an attached home. I will definitely be calling G&G back if this minor repair doesn't address my leak! Thanks George

G & G was very prompt in all phases of the project. George was able to fit us in for an estimate on short notice. After getting two other quotes, the combination of the good price and wonderful reviews on Angie's List convinced us to go with G & G. They were able to come out and complete the roof project within a week of paying the deposit. Had there not been snow, the project would have been completed even more quickly. Everyone we interacted with from the company was very friendly and professional. When rotten wood was discovered under the porch roofing, George replaced the wood at no additional charge. Overall, the experience was very positive and my husband and I were extremely pleased with both the price and the service we received.

After having used several contractors, I can safely say G & G is the best I have worked with. We found out we had a major leak during an October storm. I called George on Friday for an estimate. Because it was raining over the weekend, the first day they could check out the roof was on Monday (they tried on Saturday but the rain didn't stop). Their estimate was very competitive with other estimates we received on the same day. In addition, George did not try to sell me on a new roof. He explained what the problem was and the best way to fix the problem without doing the whole roof (another estimate from a different contractor recommended a similar approach). I ended up scheduling with G&G on that Monday afternoon, and they were able to take care of the project on Tuesday morning. Both George senior and junior (and i think a third generation) were on site during the entire project, and they were able to finish in under 4 hours (in by 9, out by 12:30 pm). The crew was very professional and courteous of our neighbors. These guys are a multi generation local family run business and just fantastic to work with. Real pros.

I knew when I bought my house that the roof was somewhat suspect. It had been installed "on the cheap" by the previous owner and not properly coated, hence leading to premature wear. When the roof started leaking, I was worried that the entire thing would have to be replaced. Based on Angies List recommendations, I set up an appointment with George from G&G. He arrived on time and was very professional. I explained my situation, showed him the leak, and then he went up on the roof to check it out, and came down after a few minutes to discuss my options. I had told George about my concerns, about my fears that I would need a new roof. He told me that, indeed, the previous roofer did a bad job, but he advised me against having a new roof installed. Instead, he suggested correcting the flashing around numerous protrusions and installing a drip edge (missing from the prior install). He would then coat the roof with reflective paint, and he would expect this to buy me another 5-10 years of service. All of this at a savings to me of quite a lot of money that, honestly, I had told him I was mentally prepared to spend. I accepted George's proposal and scheduled an appointment. He ended up calling me a day early and asking if I would mind if he got started then; I didn't need to be home or anything, he would just climb up there and take care of it, 1 day ahead of schedule. I couldn't say no to that, and by the time I got home from work he and his crew were already done. They ended up repairing more flashing than initially expected, without adding anything to the bill. I climbed up there a week or so later and took a look --- the flashing looked great, and the reflective paint was blinding in the sun. Best of all, it hasn't leaked a drop in the 3 months since then --- not that this would have been a problem, since George made it very clear that he stood by his work and would return to repair any remaining leaks. I could not have found a nicer, more professional and more honest guy to work with on this. Anyone looking for a roofer need look no further than G&G.

George was great. He was able to come out on pretty short notice when we discovered a big leak inside. He was thorough and professional when explaining the repairs we needed and laid out several options. He brought a big team on the day of the repairs, so they got the job done quickly. We found another leak near the original issue a few months later and George came out to take a look and fixed the issue at no additional cost. Highly recommended.

I met with both owners (Georges). The nature of the work to be done was explained. Other options were explained. I was given an estimate and the opportunity to accept their services. Upon acceptance, the workers (George and 2 helpers) arrived promptly the next day, worked diligently, completed the job and cleaned up after themselves. The 2 owners reviewed the work with me and sought my approval. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience--these men are courteous professionals. Several neighbors sought their cards.

G&G was very professional and responsive. They were timely and completed the work in just under one full day as promised, and as others mentioned, did a few other repairs along the way. I received two other quotes but G&G was the only one who fully addressed all of my concerns and provided me the confidence in their ability to do the work. Their quote was a little higher but worth the tradeoff in the execution. George oversaw all of the work and had no issues showing me what the workers were doing or explaining the details. -- I would highly recommend them for their responsiveness, trustworthiness, and ability to do the work they promise.

I contacted 4 roofing companies through Angie's List. G&G was the first to respond, and the 1st to view the roof. They were the most friendly, timely, responsive and worked with me on the price. They arrived on time, completed on time, left no mess, and were very pleasant and appreciative of the business. It was a pleasure having them replace my roof, and I highly recommend G&G.

George I and II came and provided me with an inspection of the main roof & the porch, George II provided information in terms that were understandable. He also provided information about my dated skylight, e.g.,explained the current problems - irregular size, etc. Gave me an estimate of cost to replace the skylight and details of ow it will be fixed onto the roof. Also provided detailed information on the condition of the main roof (good), problem areas noted, and methods to correct each area. On 9/26, reported promptly with crew. Porch roof needed complete replacement - previous roofer did a shoddy job and cut corners. The new costs were within my original price range. George 1 was familiar with my previous roofer and confirmed my concerns about the quality of that company. All work was completed within one day, the workers left the area clean. Any questions I had were answered patiently and in easily understood terms. I had a pleasant experience and I am satisfied with the service and my new roofs. I will also recommend G&G to others. George, his son and grandson were delightful and I will use them in the future of other needed services.

My wife and I were extremely pleased with G&G and the work performed. Great communication throughout. very transparent, respectful, thorough. George and his son arrived on schedule the day of the inspection. He pointed out potential problem areas and walked us through what the work would entail. He was courteous, responsive and answered every question fully and at length. One of my expressed concerns was gutter debris and he deftly talked me out of wasting money on gutter guards based on my type of roof, etc. I solicited quotes from 2 other AL-listed companies. G&G's quote was competitive, falling just shy of the most costly of the three quotes. I decided to to go with G&G as I felt it was the best value for the money and I liked the fact that G7G was family-owned business. In fact, the day the work was performed, George showed up again with his son. He also came with his father, also named George, who established the company years back. All three were there throughout the project supervising their 4-man crew. They took the time to educate me about my roof, how to take care of it, etc. I was really pleased with the way everything was handled throughout. it's unfortunately all too rare to find a contractor who does as promised and takes pride in their work. G&G even went beyond this by trimming back overhanging branches that wasn't even part of their job quote. I would highly recommend G&G to anyone looking to maintenance or repair their roof. The father-son team of George Martin, Sr. and George Martin, Jr. of G&G Home Improvements did an outstanding job for us correcting a skylight leak. George Martin, Jr. came out the same day as my call seeking an estimate (within 2 hours) and inspected the skylight and roof. He diagnosed the situation as not a problem with the skylight but with pooling of water under the shingles that abutted the skylight. After providing an estimate and getting my authorization to proceed, he had his crew at my house two days later to do the repair; he recognized the urgency of the situation that I did want anymore leaks if we got rain. Both George Sr. and Jr. were at our house for the repair and supervised the work. They were very careful to ask us about when we wanted the crew to start so as not to disturb us or our neighbors. They arrived promptly at 9:30 am and all work was completed by 2 pm. The job entailed removing the old shingles, replacing roof sheeting, installing a drip edge and then the new rubber roof system. George Junior inspected the site and left the roof and our back driveway clean. George also provided before and after pictures as well as a description of the actual work done. What was particularly impressive is that in the course of being on the roof, G&G discovered that the original roof construction had not been finished properly by the original builder/roofer so G&G's crew installed wood supports and rafters to straighten and strengthen the fascia (wooden bands under roof line) and sheathing. G&G bought the additional materials and did this work without changing their bill (i.e., at no extra cost to me). The Martins are knowledgable, skilled and very customer-friendly. It is a pleasure working with them because they have integrity: they are telling you what repairs they would make if it were their own home and they were paying the bill. They have been in the business for a long-time and know the DC/Maryland area and the roofing issues we see here very well. In the course of three days, a very fast time from call to completion, my roof repair problem was fixed. I highly recommend G&G Home Improvements. I learned about them through Angie's List, and I was very pleased. Their reputation and outstanding reviews on Angie's List are well-deserved.

George Martin runs an excellent company in DC. It's a family business, and he clearly takes much pride in it and his work. He was extremely responsive, friendly, and polite. He explained everything about what he would do and why. He was present for every aspect of the job. They thoroughly cleaned up after the job and were respectful of our home. Although it's too early yet to attest to the durability of the roofing or whether the job has solved our problems, the work went smoothly and professionally. I felt like we were in great, experienced hands, and so I have high hopes that time will reveal that I was right!

George and his crew were fantastic. They came out promptly and were very friendly and knowledgeable. It was the second hottest day this summer and they worked hard all day with no complaints. I would definitely use them again. George was wonderful to work with and I have not had problems with the roof since.
