We were very impressed with the District Relocators crew. Granted, scheduling was a bit of a mess as they were a little crusty on the phone, but they supplied a very good price with no hidden fees. On move day, they showed up as it was raining and reassured us everything would be fine. They wrapped up all of our furntirure in blankets and tape and/or shrink wrap. Despite the rain, which turned into a very hot humid day, the crew of 4 went above and beyond. We have some heirloom, very large items that they moved out of our old place and into our new home with care. At our new home, we had the floors refinished before the move in, and the crew put down pads/runners to protect the floors. Let me say again, this was a very hot and humid day, and this crew performed great, especially with the large furniture. We also had dozens of boxes of books, which they moved with no complaints. Despite some of the other reviews on this site, we had a great experience.

I was referred to District Relocators by a friend and called them to get a quote on a move I was making around Christmas. I spoke with Corey and was quoted what I felt was a good price on the move. The movers showed up a few minutes early and went straight to work. They had my belongings on the truck much faster than I anticipated and we were on the way to VA in under two hours. Upon arrival the movers Mark, Sean and Greg unloaded everything efficiently as well as assembled my bed and placed the bookshelves where I asked them to. All in all they were a thoroughly professional crew and I would highly recommend them to anyone moving within the DC, Maryland .Virginia area!

In a word: FANTASTIC! I've moved lots & it is always tension filled till the goods are delivered, unpacked/inspected & the final bill/charges have been paid for. This was the easiest and least stress-filled mission ever. Lots of info exchanged before the move about the inventory, reserving the eleavators, keys, location prep and such. Three men---Shawn, Mark & Sam--arrived few minutes early and got right to work. Real pros & it was smooth as could be. Hard working employees who told me the boss treats them right and they treat the customers right. A pleasure to find such a win for such a project always fraught with uncertainties. And the price was more than competitive as I got three bids. Information I got, the serviced rendered, and results were OUTSTANDING! !!
Description of Work: Website was easy to use & most info/dealings were done via the net making it faster, clearer and cheaper. All goods were packed, furniture and breakables wrapped, and goods were loaded onto company owned trucks.

Everything started out good?after I submitted my information online Tony was quick to call me back and confirm a move date and price. After that I asked him to send a confirmation email with the terms we discussed, which included free packing materials. After not receiving anything that day, I called back the next day and asked again. A few hours later I called back yet again and then I finally received it (supposedly he was mistyping my email address). I should have taken this as a sign. When I opened the email it had none of the terms we discussed. I then typed up the terms myself and asked him to confirm them, which he did. On the day the movers were supposed to come and pack my things, they showed over three hours late. No one bothered to call me to tell me they were running late, I had to call and find out for myself. They kept saying that they would be there within the hour, and despite asking to be updated I had to keep calling back. When the movers finally showed up they demanded to park in the loading dock (even though they were just packing and not actually moving anything into the truck). When they arrived at the door, they offered no apology or acknowledgement for being late. They were generally pleasant, but they seemed very confused that I was moving out of the apartment. The first five minutes they kept asking, ?What?s going?? ?Everything?I?m moving,? I replied at least three times. After they finished I noticed that they?d charged me $150 for packing materials. When I explained that I was supposed to receive free packing materials they said it could not be true. After I showed them the email saying that I was supposed to get my packing materials for free, they had their boss (Cory) call me. Cory kept saying that I was ?confused? by what Tony had told me. I told him that I was not confused and in fact had it in writing. After telling Cory that I was not paying more than what I had agreed to (and what was in writing), he agreed but made it seem like he was doing me a favor! The next morning my movers were scheduled to arrive at 9AM and move my belongings. The actual move from my old apartment to my new one was quite uneventful. The three gentlemen worked quickly and professionally and there were no hiccups. Just to be clear, the only reason that I am not giving the company an ?F? is because the actual move day went off without a hitch. Despite this, given the headache of the first day I could not recommend this company nor would I use them again.

Scheduling was simple. They called minutes after I filled out the quote request on their website. They quoted me 3 bodies for 3hrs at $400. On the day before the move, they called me to confirm and asked me if I was interested in moving earlier in the day. I was not since I would be settling on my home. In fact, I asked for them to come a half hr after the scheduled time window since I knew closing would run late. On the day of the move, they showed up an hr before the originally scheduled time despite my request to reschedule. It took them 3hrs to load my 1br apt into the truck. They were all very hard working. My biggest issue was that they did not use any equipment - dollies, or such. They manually carried everything. Not all my possessions survived such rough treatment. In their defense, it was most likely because my stuff wasn't packed with enough padding in the boxes. On the contrary in my defense, I though they would have exerted a bit more care than they did, at the least by using dollies or rollers. By the time they finished the move, it was 5hrs and cost me $735. I did not read the receipt carefully enough and did not immediately realize that they charged me 735 for 6hrs instead of 5. When I realized this the next day, I called and spoke to Tony. After a few more callbacks, Corey acknowledged the mistake (after some forensic investigation since the credit card timestamps on his receipt was in a different time zone) and agreed to credit me back money on another move I had scheduled with them later that month.

Scheduling was simple. They called me back moments after I filled out the form online. They showed up on time the day of the move and loaded everything quickly. My biggest complaint is that they didn't use any equipment such as lifting straps or dolleys. On the move, 1 driver took a different route and got caught in traffic. Therefore, though having paid for 3 bodies, the unloading was done with only 2 people. The third person did not show up until the end of the move. I chose not to make an issue of this. They also broke a mirror despite having packed it properly. Corey said he would refund me but I've been waiting for over a month and my emails/phone calls have gone unanswered. * Update: After two months and multiple phone calls, Corey finally refunded me double the market value of the mirror with an apology for the delay. The gesture was appreciated, though I wish I didn't have to wait so long and call so many times for any action to be taken.

They were punctual, and pleasant to deal with. They were reasonably efficient, and generally responsive to instructions on the moving of boxes and my furniture. They charged me a flat "material fee" upfront so you don't have to worry about them showing up and start to nickle and dime you on tapes and blankets (as I've found from unfortunately using a different mover the last time). They also were very good about putting all my labeled boxes (bedroom, kitchen etc) into the correct location. Furniture was disassembled and then reassembled at the location as I expected. I gave a pretty accurate estimate of my furniture and boxes, and the final price came in within about an hour of what we discussed (this was a time-based fee). All in all, no complaints!
Description of Work: I hired them to move me from one elevator apartment to another. It was a move only with no packing involved.

We found District Relocators on Angie's List and decided to hire them based off of other reviews. We completed the online quote generator and reached out to set up a move date. We heard back relatively quickly with a tentative date and time of their availability. We responded immediately and scheduled. We received what looked like a form email a short time later with all of the terms of the move included, but it didn't confirm the date and time. My husband reached out to the manager (Corey) asking to confirm that the date and time we'd agreed to was, in fact, what was scheduled. We did eventually hear back from him - but it had us second-guessing our decision for a couple of days. Fast forward to moving day. Our move started off with a phone call from Corey letting us know that the truck that our movers were using had broken down and they were waiting for a new truck. He also told us that they would go ahead and send the team to our apartment to start prepping our furniture. Frustrating, yes - but at least they called! When the team did show up (on foot - carrying / pushing the wrapping and padding materials for a few blocks!), they didn't waste any time getting started with wrapping and padding our furniture to get it out the door. The new truck arrived within about 45 minutes of their arrival, and I didn't really feel like our overall time was impacted at all due to the truck mishap. I was really glad that the truck had broken down prior to our belongings being loaded into it! The move was seamless. The team moved almost everything from the truck into our new house with ease. There was some trouble moving our (very large) sectional couch into the basement, so they had to stop and unwrap it outside so it could be taken apart before coming through the door - but again, they made it work and they reassembled the couch in the basement. I often judge a company not by the mishaps that arise, but how a company handles those mishaps when they arise. Because of the truck breaking down and the team starting our move late, District Relocators knocked an hour off of the overall price without us asking for it. In my opinion, that's good customer service -- they acknowledged that something had gone wrong and they gave their customer something as a way to say "I'm sorry." It was greatly appreciated. I would definitely recommend District Relocators to others to assist with their move. Overall, the move went great and the team of movers was superb. They were not only really good at their jobs, but they were enjoyable people to be around as well - and that makes all the difference!

My initial conversations with Cory were great. He was easy to talk to and honest about the estimate and size of crew needed. The day of the move, the crew was a little late which was fine for me since I was boxing up some remaining items. Cory was kind enough to contact me and let me know they were on the way. When the two trucks and five guys showed up, we shook hands, I showed them around and off they went. They were fast and efficient. We had A LOT of stuff. I was impressed with the care they took with our items and their ability to finely stack the boxes to ensure everything fit. The crew took pride in how good they worked and they deserve some praise here. It was nice seeing them smile and laugh as they hauled box after box after box in the mud and cold rain. They also pulled off a miracle. They were able to fit two trucks worth of stuff into one unit which saved me from having to rent a second unit. They high fived each other at the end and then told me, "That's what we do when you hire the best." This is a young company which is doing a fantastic job. No surprise fees, no lazy or slow workers. Just fast, efficient, careful, and all around a stand-up team of workers. We're looking forward to the second move in a few months.
Description of Work: I used District Relocators about four weeks ago for a two-stage move. The first stage involved moving our belongings from a single family home in Northern VA into storage. The second stage will occur March/April 2013 when we move the belongings out of storage into the new home.

I was extremely pleased with District Relocators. I contacted numerous moving companies for estimates. District Relocators was very responsive and quickly provided a detailed quote that was reasonably priced compared to competitors. I booked them less than 2 weeks before the move and they were able to accommodate my schedule, which was not the case with some of the other companies I contacted. I don't know anyone who's used District Relocators in the past, but their online reviews looked good so I went with them. The office staff was professional and provided all of the information I needed in advance of the move. The crew had a big move earlier in the day, but that didn't slow them down. These guys hustled! You would never know they were getting paid by the hour because they worked hard to be as efficient as possible. They carefully wrapped all of my furniture and made a very coordinated effort to pack everything on the truck. Even though they must have been tired at the end of a long day, they made quick work of it at the new location. Everything survived the move in great condition. All three guys were very pleasant and professional. I don't plan to move again any time soon, but I will wholeheartedly recommend District Relocators to friends.

I had gotten about five other quotes and District Relocators had the best price. The four man crew arrived on time and wrapped my furniture very nicely in order to protect it. I could not find one ding on any of the furniture or any of the walls of either house. They were extremely efficient at the same time and got my move done in less than the amount of time I was quoted initially. Not to mention, the crew members were fun to work with and accommodating when we had a scheduling mishap (flooring people arrived earlier than we had planned so the moving crew had to work around them). I would recommend them to anyone!

It went great and exceeded my expectations. I selected them because of their reviews yet remained skeptical. I expected that I'd need to tell them to handle boxes marked "fragile" with extra care and cringe as they moved sensitive items. District Relocators handled fragile items with care and asked where my wife and I wanted couches, tables, etc. They value customer service. Other movers I've used simply want to get it over with and get to the next job. This was a clear contrast. I could breathe easy and trust them. They were very efficient and didn't waste time. No stalling to drag out the move or any other tactics that unfortunately are commonplace with some companies. They are there to move your items from location A to location B and that's exactly what they do. Their friendly demeanor is also a huge plus. I would not hesitate to use them again.

I was overwhelmingly pleased with Corey and his team at District Relocators. Our organization used District Relocators to move our office this summerDist. They were timely, professional, friendly, courteous and hardworking. I appreciated how careful they were with our fragile furniture, plates and glasses. I actually felt bad about how many heavy boxes, desks, filing cabinets and bookshelves they had to move up and down stairs but none of the guys did any complaining. One of the guys was a bit of a perfectionist - he said it was from his years in the military - he made sure all the bookshelves were placed equi-distance apart, the books went right back in their original place, and the desks were perfectly lined with the hardwood floor planks - all of which I definitely appreciated.

They were careful but super quick, meaning we finished well under the minimum time making the price very affordable. They were also very friendly and extremely professional. The whole move went very smoothly. It was very easy to schedule services with a quick phone call. The week of the move they confirmed with an e-mail. Based on prior reviews I scheduled a morning move, since it seemed like some reviewers had trouble with the team showing up on time (I think they must sometimes get surprised by the state of the place for their morning move, and end up going over time, which delays the afternoon appointment). For us it was no problem, they showed up at 9AM on the dot! They had a team of 4 movers, who were energetic and pleasant, and got everything packed and on the truck in 2 hours. They were good about wrapping furniture in blankets, etc. Very careful with our things. It took about 30 minutes to get over to the new place, and an hour and a half to unload. They had a bunch of furniture to schlep up the stairs, which they did without complaint! We were done by 1PM. Nothing was scratched, chipped, broken, etc. I got several quotes that were more $$, and felt these guys were very good value for the money spent! I would definitely use them again.

The movers showed up 25 minutes late, with no phone call to let us know about the delay. Also, they showed up in an unmarked white truck, appearing very unprofessional. They assigned 4 movers for this two-bedroom move, which I thought was excessive. They basically had two guys getting things from the apartment to the elevators and then two to get them from the elevator to the truck. It always seemed as though one or two of the guys weren't doing much besides waiting. They didn't bring door stops, and used my possessions to prop doors open (again, very unprofessional). They didn't seem to have a plan as to how to fit things in their truck because that was where the moving process was horribly delayed. It took approximately 3 hours to move out of the old apartment, and only an hour to get everything into the new place - some of that was due to the elevators in the old building, but it took at least another half an hour after everything was downstairs until the truck was fully loaded. They were also very rude, asking how much these apartments cost (none of their business), and when I became frustrated with their delays, they exasperated me further by claiming that 2-bedroom moves never take them less than 4 hours (but that would of course be due to their own speed). I know for a fact that 2-bedroom moves can indeed be completed in 3 hours. A floor lamp was fortunately the only item that was damaged, but I didn't realize it was broken until I tried standing it up and the base was smashed out so it wouldn't stay upright. They had to know they broke it because half the base material was scattered all over the sidewalk and entry to the building. I have not heard back about the claim I submitted for its replacement. Overall, I would not recommend this moving company - they were the cheapest option I could find, and now I know why.

District Relocators responded quickly to my email and provided a prompt estimate for my move. There were a few questions that they had, and that I had, and all were resolved quickly via email. Since we only had two weeks to lock down a mover, I was thrilled to get such prompt responses. We reserved a date/time for our move within 24 hours of my first email request. The crew showed up on time of the day of the move and were ready to work. The lead guy made sure he understood all the apartment and condo building rules, which he seemed to think were pretty standard. He then did a quick walk thru and assessment of our "stuff" before instructing his crew to start working. The 4-man crew got to work and completed the move within the time frame estimated so there were no surprises at the end when we made payment. I would absolutely recommend District Relocators to anyone looking for an honest, hard working moving company!

They were easy to make a reservation with and sent a confirmation email; which was great. I didnt hear from them the day before the move to confirm which made me a bit nervous, so I called and they assured me everything was set. The movers showed up on time, did a great job, took good care of my fragile items and ensured no damage to the walls. In my new place, there is a really tight corner and they discussed the options along with challenge to make sure I was comfortable with the approach as it could have damaged the wall. They were able to move everything in without even a scratch. Well Done! I will definitely use District Relocators and have already reccomended them to friends.

First, the morning didn't start out all that great when the movers were 20 min late and there was no phone call to tell me that they were running behind. I tried calling but no one ever picked up. I moved from a studio in DC into a one bedroom in Northern Virginia. I didn't have too much furniture and not that many boxes. It should have only taken about 3 hours but we stalled on time when one of the guys couldn't figure out how to dismantle my bed (it had drawers as part of the frame). The whole bed situation wasted about 45 min and Corey, the owner, had to come help. Corey is great, very professional. All in all, the move was pretty smooth except for the bed. My one caveat: I hired 3 guys for the move, hoping that the move would go faster. Man #3 didn't do much and we could have just gone with 2 guys. I would have appreciated it if someone would have told me that I really didn't need a third guy.

I was not satisfied with their professionalism. The phone rang at least 15 times before anyone answered and when I finally did speak with them, they said they would gather some more information and would call me back, but I have yet to hear from them.
Description of Work: I called them for an estimate to move a pool table.

District Relocators did an outstanding job, on short notice and with some last minute, unexpected obstacles. The weekend of March 10, I was finally able to confirm that our condo would be move-in ready by the following weekend (March 17). I filled out the quote estimate form on District Relocators' website, and first thing Monday morning they provided me with an estimate for either three or four movers. I emailed them back late Monday, and on Tuesday we worked on scheduling a date and time. Mela at District Relocators worked to accommodate our request for Saturday, and ultimately was able to book us for 9 AM Saturday morning. We signed up for four movers, which was a great decision. On Saturday morning, I discovered that there was a marathon happening that day, which pretty much walled off Constitution Avenue to the south, Connecticut Avenue on the west, Columbia Road to the north, and North Capitol to the East. Basically, our starting point (17th and U) was walled in, and our destination point (couple blocks north of Columbia Road in Adams Morgan) was outside the wall. The movers didn't complain, and we worked to find the only route into the "blockade" through Dupont Circle. They showed up at 9:30 and immediately got to work, only billing me from the time the truck arrived rather than the 9 AM start time, even though the delay was not their fault. The move itself went great. The guys worked well as a team, got everything packed up in just an hour and a half, and unloaded it in even less time. Three hours, start to finish. They were fast, professional, personable, and very careful with our stuff -- so far, no indication of anything broken. I can't recommend them highly enough, and will definitely use them again the next time I move.
Description of Work: District Relocators moved us from our 2 BR apartment in Dupont Circle to a 2 BR condo in Adams Morgan/Mt. Pleasant.

We found them to have the best prices and I felt their service was good although several items were scratched. They were friendly and helpful in terms of setting up the details. I may use them again in the future.
