Two subcontracted individuals, a couple, came to install the windows. They were very professional and took care of all details while they also kept explaining me the process. They took their time to things with no rush and I can see they did a very good job.

I divide the process into two parts: The Sale and The Installation. I rate the Sales part A+ and the Installation B. The installers, while polite and punctual weren't as careful as I would have liked them to be. They left a few very minor nicks, dents and scratches in the window frame. I will easily touch them up at some point...purely a cosmetic effort. The interaction with the sales person was great, he was very professional and helpful through the whole process. We got a couple of estimates before deciding to go with Highland and their price was very competitive. Over all the whole experience was great, I would highly recommend Highland to family and friends and plan to call them again as we continue the process of replacing all of our windows.

Highland Window Company installed replacement windows in my West Hartford home. From our initial meeting with owner Marc Cowan, to the final inspection of the project, this was by far the most positive experience I have ever had with a home improvement contractor. Marc was prompt, informative and precise. The price was very competitive. The windows took 4 weeks to be manufactured. The install team were polite, respectful and highly skilled. The clean-up was perfect. Marc was present during the install and conducted a full inspection on completion. We have recommended them to our friends and family.

Marc and his crew were wonderful; Punctual, accommodating, highly knowledgeable and above all kind and a pleasure to work with. Marc supervised the project to a perfect completion and Junior and his staff were highly motivated to get the job done in a timely manner and yet with high attention to details. They've always cleaned and vacumed the work area and were a joy to work with. We confidently recommend the Highland Windows and Sidings company to all of our friends Dr. Moshe and Sarah Laub

What stands out the most from my experience with highland window company was the interaction with Mark. He didn?t waste time on a long sale, he gave me the information I needed on the windows that worked for my house and my budget. His install crew was great, they came pretty late on day one, but once I talked to the foreperson, the next day he was not only on time, but EARLY. The job took longer than I was originally told. The only flaw was that one of my shutters wasn?t put back on the house due to an issue with a bolt. I was told they would be back to put it up and it?s still sitting in my garage. Overall though I?m very pleased.

[Member Name Removed], I am very sorry about the delay with the bolt and the subsequent delay to the re-attachment of your shutter. Due to the way the shutters are attached to your home it is a very unusual bolt that was in place. We ordered a replica and it has come come in twice the wrong size. A replica bolt is now being specially manufactured by a company in Hartford and as soon as we have it the shutter will be re-attached to the house. Sorry again for the delay. Regards, Marc Cowan Highland Window Company.

The bow window went flawlessly. Mark and his team went the extra mile and everything turned out perfectly and was exactly what I envisioned. The triple pane window had a few snags due to manufacturer defects. All those issues were corrected and Mark was responsive and attentive to all our needs and requests. Mark has an excellent team working for him. Their attention to detail is amazing. They even replicated the exterior top trim of our new kitchen window to match the other existing windows. The bay window being rather heavy needed support from the underside so Donovan who was part of the team, hand-made a pair of supports, painted and installed them. Nobody does this degree of craftsmanship today. He also spent an entire day cutting and fitting the shingles to match the rest of the house. I would definitely use Highland Windows for any future projects. Great people who care about what they do and go the extra mile in every aspect of the job.

My wife and I recently purchased a new home that needed new windows. We were replacing older single pane wooden windows that had aluminum storm windows. They were inefficient, bad looking, and we couldn't open half of them. Met with several vendors and chose Highland Window because of price and quality of windows/doors they would be installing. There were cheaper quotes out there, but for lower quality windows. We worked with Marc, the owner, through the whole process leading up to the install. The windows were made specifically for our house, so we had to wait roughly 4 weeks from confirming the order to the actual install. The actual install took two days. The crew was friendly and did a great job cleaning up. In the end, we were very happy with the work. The house looks SO much better, inside and out.

Marc did a great job. We did our homework and contacted three contractors. Marc came out two times and answered all of our questions before we selected Highland Window Company. Marc provided samples of the siding as well as a portfolio of information. He did a "walk around " of the house with us to understand our needs and provide an outline of the work. The work started and ended on the estimated days. He also took care of the dumpster and had his team installl the new lights we purchased. The work took about eight days, during that time Marc would call or email us to give us updates as well as ask us our input or answer our questions. When the work started we made an initial payment of one-third in the total amount. Marc said, "you don't make final payment until you are happy" Marc was true to his word and did the final " walk around " with us (there were minor things to address at the end and Marc took care of it). I would wholeheartedly recommend Marc and Highland Window to friends and family. In fact, I referred Marc to one of my co-workers. ,

Marc (the owner) was prompt for his sales appointment. He was courteous and very informative. He didn't try to oversell his product. We decided on vinyl windows because the previous owner had five windows replaced by vinyl and we didn't feel it was cost effective to replace the remaining fifteen with something of a higher quality. (This is why we rated the quality of the windows as good rather than excellent.) The next week Marc and his foreman came out to specifically measure each of the window openings. Our house was built in 1925, so each was slightly different from the other. We expected the windows to be available in late August/early September, but they arrived sooner than expected. Two days were set aside for the installation, but the work took only one day. The two man crew was courteous and efficient. At two points, they noticed something with a particular window (In one case the opening was really out of square), brought it to our attention, and proposed a solution. I was particularly pleased that they kept us informed rather than simply going forward. We had expected that the windows would be an improvement in the winter, but found that they made an immediate difference in the summer, when our central air conditioning worked far more effectively. I would definitely recommend Highland Windows for prompt service, reasonable price, and good quality.

We were approved for a CHIF loan to finance some energy-efficient upgrades to our old house. Marc, the owner of Highland Windows, came out and gave us a quote--one of four we got for the job from local businesses. His friendly, honest demeanor inspired confidence, and his price was very reasonable, but we held off until some other, more urgent work was done, then came back to him 10 months later to commit to the project. Marc remembered us, honored the original quote, and got the job done within a couple of weeks of signing the contract. When we had an issue with some of the caulk cracking around the windows after installation, he sent a workman out to correct the problem at no additional cost within a couple of days. Highland uses Alside windows, which seem to be a decent quality, mid-range replacement window. Plus, they come with a lifetime guarantee that means if you ever have any problem with them, you give Alside the serial number of the window in question and they send you a replacement. We've now had the windows in the house for about 2 years and are happy with how they work and look. From reading up on replacement windows, the installation seems to be as critical to the efficiency of the windows as the construction of the windows themselves. I trusted that Marc would ensure the windows were installed properly--or fix it if they weren't. I have not been disappointed. Though I expect we won't need any more window work done, I will use Highland when we get around to replacing our old doors. And I will recommend them to anyone else needing similar work done.

From the initial contact right up until the final walk through the owner, Marc, was great to deal with. His initial visit was painless and he provided a quote in less time than other companies and did not use high pressure sales tactics. Once we selected Highland to replace the windows Marc came back out to the house with his lead installer, measured and placed the order. The windows came in on time and were installed in accordance with the schedule that Marc described to us at the time the order was placed. Everything went exactly as planned. We would use Highland again and recommend them.

Marc, the owner of Highland Windows is a pleasure to work with, he was highly responsive and flexible to meet your needs as a consumer when coming to the house and taking phone calls. He was not pushy and offered informative information about the windows we were looking to have installed. He gave us options, which I liked. We ultimately decided to go with the Harvey Slim windows as we were not sure if this was going to be our forever home but we knew that the existing (original) windows we had were outdated and not energy efficient. We waited a few weeks for the windows to be installed and were notified they were going to be delivered to our residence, which is when we schedule our install appointment. The install went fairly as expected, it took a total of 2-days for 14 windows, the windows were installed on day one and day two consisted of sealing and capping off the windows. Overall, the process for this was painless. While the install went "fairly" smoothly and Marc was a pleasure to work with, we did have a few issues that had to be addressed and I will begin by saying again, that Marc was a pleasure to deal with. He never gave us ANY issues and was quick to remedy any issues we found. One of the slider windows we had installed seemed to have a manufacturing issue, it was difficult to slide and the screen was bowing, a new window was ordered and reinstalled within weeks of our concern. Once the windows were installed, we immediately noticed a difference with heat and cooling and air was not escaping these windows, which is what we were looking for. *Summer Update* - The windows work, period. If I were to be asked if I would ever order Harvey windows again, I would probably say no. I feel like we could have gotten a better quality window elsewhere. The windows have a lot of manufacturing holes outside, which is a breeding ground for bee hives, once it began to warm up outside, I noticed bees were flying in and out of these holes, once it starts to cool down outside, I think I will have to seal up these holes to ensure we don't continually get bees in the exterior of our windows. My only other "gripe" would be that one of the slider windows appears to be "wavy" at the top of the frame of the window, its not noticeable from a distance but because I live here, I notice it and it doesn't appear to affect the efficienty of the windows. This goes hand in hand with issue of some of the top frames of the windows were "half" sealed and some were not sealed at all, I'm not sure if this is standard for installation or not but again, its just a visual annoyance. Overall, I would like to state that, I would use Highland Windows again and I would recommend others to use them simply because Marc is such a great guy, he is so responsive, and would remedy any issues or concerns you have if you feel they should be addressed. He never gave me any issues, he never fought with me and he was extremely easy to get a hold of and for that, I give this window project an A. *NEW UPDATE* Marc has come back to look at our concerns and has remedied those issues. Once again, Marc is a pleasure to work with and I would use this company again in a heartbeat. He truly cares about his customers and this just proves that. When an issue arises, he is there to step up to the plate and resolve the issues. Our issues are resolved. Thank you Marc!

{Member name removed}, Thank you for your kind words and your points of concern. I have this morning spoken with my Harvey Industries Representative, and I would like to come to your home with him as soon as possible to investigate the matter further. I have installed Harvey Windows for more than 10 years, and manufacturing holes that allow bees into your home is something that I have never encountered before. Highland Window Company takes any customer concern very seriously, and I will contact you within the next 24 hours to set up a suitable time, when we can come and carry out a full inspection of all the installed windows. Marc the owner is so courteous and knowledgable! He personally came to measure and gave me an estimate on the spot. They usually doesn't do small jobs but he did the one window for me. Today the window was installed. The workers arrived a bit late because they got held up with holiday traffic. Marc personally came to my house to wait for them with me. The window was installed today like promised and the workers did a great job. They were friendly and hard working. I'm 100% confident that I have the best quality window and got the best service. You get what you pay for. Marc even gave me a quote for one of our bedroom windows even though I can't afford to do it yet. When the time comes, we will definitely call Highland again!

The Summary: This was a great experience from start to finish. Marc, one of the owners, came out himself to Torrington and gave us a quote to replace all of our old vinyl windows (20). His sales style was low-key with no gimmicks, and the price was better than the other four companies we got quotes from. He let us decide when we wanted the installation to occur , and when the time came to do the installation, the crew that showed up was professional, friendly, and careful. If you are very fussy about avoiding damage to the walls and trim, this is the crew that you want on the job! The details: We found Highland Windows on Angie's list. The reviews were good, but we always get multiple quotes before doing anything of this magnitude. Marc, the owner of the company, came out himself to look at the job. We immediately liked his style - he did not use any of the high-pressure sales gimmicks that Home Depot and the Heat lamp guy used to try and get you to commit right away. He took some measurements and then gave us a quote for two different types of the Harvey windows - the Slimline and the Tribute. (Do yourself a favor and get the Tribute - It is a much better window and the price is not that much more). He never pressured us and said that if we were interested he would bring his expert (Junior) out to do the final detailed measurements. After much consideration, we had them come out and measure and decided to go with Highland Windows. Once the windows came in, Marc called us and asked when would be a convenient time to do the window installation. We told him that we really preferred to do the upstairs on one day and the downstairs the next day as there were so many windows to do. He agreed to that with no hesitation. I called him to confirm what we needed to do before they arrived and he answered the phone himself, even though he was at the dentist! On installation day, a crew of three guys showed up right on time and began removing the upstairs windows. They were very careful to cover everything, put down cardboard and to not to track in dirt and were mindful of the inside walls and trim that were not being changed. They vacuumed up at the end of each day's work, washed the windows and cleaned everything up very nicely. The best part about going with Highland Windows is knowing that if we ever have a problem, Marc will see to it personally that it is taken care of - he is that kind of guy.

On one very cold January day, 3 gentlemen came to replace both doors and completed both jobs in one day. They were very careful about protecting my hardwood floor and carpeting, and proceeded professionally. I selected this company because I used them before and the price includes everything, from take out old door, rebuild framing, put in new door, re-trim, etc. My only qualm was that at one point in the process, the old doors were totally out and the men were in the garage putting together the new one, and the doorway was not blocked in any way; with no movement in the house, "critters" were welcome to enter. Happily, none took the invitation! I would definitely recommend this company for any door or window job.

I don't go forward on a project generally unless I have at least 3 bids from decent providers, and I'm glad I decided to get a couple extra bids this time around. The owner, Mr. Cowan, came for the initial quote. What set him apart from others who came to my home immediately was his "savvy" - he took some rough measurements on the spot, and seemed to understand what an installation entailed. It seemed like every other contractor representative who came through my door just wanted to open up a catalog and give me a price without actually looking at the job. I have a "challenging" home to work on, and I don't like surprise bills at the end of a job. That said, the price I was given was originally just for the french doors - it wasn't the highest price we had been given, nor was it the lowest (we had been given a basement-low price by a contractor who, on further investigation, had an extremely poor reputation). It did, however, include trimwork - something that was an additional charge from other providers. When Mr. Cowan returned again with his foreman to take specific measurements, we decided to ask them about the window as well - they worked with us on the spot, found out what we wanted, took measurements, gave us a price, and we were ready to go. We cut a deposit check, and just had to wait for the products to be built / shipped. We wound up having to reschedule the installation several times - mother nature seemed to always choose the day of our install to throw out a foot of snow, or record cold temperatures - but when the big day finally came for the install to begin I had 3 professional, friendly gentlemen in my driveway at 9am ready to work. The foreman was there, and went through the scope of the project with me, and they were all very careful of and concerned with the safety of my (very active) 18 month old daughter, taking extra care to clean up anything she might step on, close doors behind them, etc. Since the trim had been included in the price, I had largely assumed I would get whatever they felt like putting up and that would be the end of it, but was again surprised when they asked very specifically what I wanted, working with me to match the types of casings throughout my house. After the initial installation was done, I did a full walk-around inside and out to review everything that was done, took pictures with my phone of the defects I wasn't pleased with, and sent them to Marc in an e-mail. I had expected to have to fight with him to get one or two of the things fixed, but instead he called me back and said they would be back out the next morning to fix everything. Again, I expected that they would show up and fix one or two things, but was pleasantly surprised when they took every one of my concerns seriously and assessed each of them. Oh, and that trim that was built into the price? It came out excellent, with very nicely done miter joints, clean extension jams, an even reveal, and no complaints from me. Marc even followed up with a call later that day to make sure everything came out perfectly, and apologized for any inconvenience. He seems genuinely concerned with the quality of his work, and exhibited a lot of respect for my home. I feel comfortable saying that you would be hard pressed to get a better value than Highland Window. The quality you are getting, in addition to the excellent pricing, are certainly worth it. I have more projects to do in my home, and while I will still get my minimum 3 quotes on my next window project, another contractor will be hard pressed to get me to not choose Highland again. **A couple tech specifics that they tackled: - Shortening my french doors (my opening was slightly shorter than standard door height) - I checked all measurements after the job, including lengths, widths, and corner-to-corner on everything, and it's clean - Widening my door opening - The french doors were about an inch wider overall then my old rickety slider. They adjusted the opening without missing a beat. - Extension jams against my rather uneven walls - they came out flush, clean, and you'd never know everything wasn't flat. - Outside trim - accommodated my preferences on aesthetics. Made thicker trim on the bottom of the outside trim for the window, which (to me) ultimately looked nicer.

The owner, Marc, was very flexible about meeting with us and providing answers to all of our questions. Whenever I called, he responded promptly. The installation crew was very professional and arrived on time. The project took a bit longer than originally expected but that was because there was more damage to the outside sills than we thought. Also, they could not find the right size trim so they made it from scratch in my garage! They left the house very clean and replaced one of my cheap mini-blinds that broke when they were removing it. I was very happy with the work.
Description of Work: Removed old windows and installed new windows throughout most of the house.

We feel that the quality of our new (Harvey) windows and our new siding is excellent and that it was purchased and installed through the Highland Window Company in West Hartford at a very fair price. This was a large job which was completed on time and on budget. Marc, the owner, is very professional, extremely knowledgable and very customer oriented. He very patiently answered many questions and helped guide us through the decision process. In addition, both the window 'crew' and the siding 'crew' were hard-working, pleasant, and efficient. This local (West Hartford) company did an amazing job and we highly recommend them for windows and/or siding.
Description of Work: New (replacement) windows and new siding; entire house.

Everything was perfect. Arrived for estimate on time, answered all questions and left a written estimate. Once contacted to do the job, returned with installer to measure. Windows/door arrived within the time frame promised. Accommodated our schedule for installation. Windows/door arrived just before installers. Installation took all day, as expected. Installers were neat, professional, polite, covered work areas, cleaned up after themselves. Full explanation of operation of windows, warranties, etc. We only wish we had the rest of the house done! We will have them back within the year to do the rest.
Description of Work: Replaced 8 bedroom windows, 1 attic window, and one entrance door.
