I called them late on Friday, Chris returned my call first thing on Monday, made an appointment to come out Tuesday to price the job. He was on time, and came out the next day to do the job. He and helper worked quickly and cleaned up thoroughly when done. Will hire again, and have recommended him to several friends. Really nice to have a contractor return calls and show up on time as scheduled.

returned call promptly, and was there in less than an hour. completed repairs neatly and professionally. discussed installing an under counter light. on second visit installed light. We thought they might have been a little pricey, but we really don't know the going rates, so perhaps not?

I called Calkins, left a message, and had a return call within half an hour. Chris said they were working nearby and could stop to assess what we needed that afternoon. He and another electrician came, looked at what we needed, and determined the best way to access the space for the outlet, which involved cutting through some Sheetrock. Several days later, two electricians came and completed the work. They were polite, very neat, and cleaned up afterwards. We were very pleased and will definitely use them again.

Excellent! Returned my phone call on a Sunday morning within the hour. Chris troubleshooted on the phone with me assuring me if the breaker was off it would be ok until he came out the next day, so I wouldn't get charged extra. He and Amy arrived on time and got right to work. They located the problem and fixed our outlet that was actually burning. They cleaned up everything when they were finished. I appreciate a business that returns calls, shows up when they say, and gets the job done correctly. Highly recommend!

I phoned for service in the morning, he said he could arrive in the early afternoon and did. He and his assistant were efficient, very neat and corrected the problem in less than an hour.

They got the job done just fine. Very professional and responsive. I did not get an estimate beforehand and have to admit I was shocked (no pun intended) by the high price when I received the bill. But I trust their workmanship.

I received a call from the service provider asking if Thursday (6/9) or Friday (6/10) mid-morning would be good for the service, and that he would call the morning of to finalize the time. Did not receive a call either Thursday or Friday (or Saturday or Monday or Tuesday) to finalize the time. It is expected that if a provider can not honor the suggested date/time that a call would be made to reschedule and/or explain the situation. I understand folks are busy, especially if they have excellent ratings but it doesn't take a great deal of time to place a phone call.

I have been replacing outlets in my home and hit a snag. No matter what I did the ones in my bedroom were not working...it was time to call an electrician. I called Calkins early (around 7am) and was immediately answered. To my pleasant surprise, a schedule time was set for later that morning (11:30am). They arrived at my house at the appointment time and diagnosed and fixed the issue within a half hour. I am very pleased with their service, would hire them again, and would recommend them to anyone looking for an electrician.

Call him while he was driving between jobs. He promised to call me the next day. Never heard from him again. Went with another electrician.

I just want to say how nice it was for Calkins Electric to bring my electrical issues up to date with the current code. They replaced the breaker panel, breakers, installed gfci outlets, installed a new box on the outside of the house, replaced the heavy electrical cable running down the side of the house into the new box, and labeled each breaker in the panel. I'm in the process of selling my ranch and needed these issues fixed as soon as possible. I went on Angie's List and found Calkins Electric and gave them a call. We made the appointment and they came as scheduled and on time. They made the proper arrangements for the power to be shut off at the house and they did the entire job in only one day. I was also given $100 off (5%) for being an Angie's List member. If your looking for professional electrical work to be done at an affordable price, Calkins Electric is a great choice. By the way, they didn't have any issues accepting a credit card. I ended up paying my deposit with a check and the remainder with a credit card when the work was complete. They also contacted the inspector and had all their work inspected - I didn't have to make any phone calls to anyone. I hope this review was helpful.

Chris and all the people who work for him display the utmost in professionalism, ability and their willingness to make sure the job is done right. I have used him in the past and would not even consider anyone else for my electrical work in the future.

I first contacted Chris Calkins early in December of 2014 to discuss the scope of work and get an estimate. I received the estimate on the 15th and on the 16th gave him the go-ahead. We decided to include under-cabinet lighting which was not in the original proposal, to be priced out later. Chris arrived on the 16th with another master electrician and an apprentice and they commenced work. They re-wired the dryer, installed overhead light cans, ran the rough wiring for separate outlets and new switches. We provided the light cans which turned out to be the wrong type (we purchased new work cans instead of old work). Chris had the correct type cans and used them, allowing us to replace them after we had exchanged the wrong ones. We scheduled the service upgrade (200 amp) to be done on the 30th of Jan. Unfortunately it snowed and snowed and then snowed some more, preventing the upgrade. The problem was that new ground rods had to be installed and by this time there was at least 3 ft of drifted snow. Not having the new service panel caused the rest of the kitchen wiring work to be delayed. In April the snow melted allowing the service upgrade to be done. The transfer switch and distribution panel were installed the first week of April. It was mid July before other contractors had completed their work (flooring, sheetrock, cabinet installation, etc.) allowing Calkins Electric to continue. On 24 July Chris installed the switches and outlets in the kitchen, and said he?s ready for the appliances to be delivered. The first week of August was very productive. The under-counter lighting was installed along with two 4? ceiling fixtures. Wiring was connected to the power panel and the lights were powered up and the outlet for the refrigerator was installed. We discovered that the pendant lights we ordered were incorrect and had to be re-ordered, another delay. On August 28th the building inspector informed me that an additional outlet was required. On the 1st I called Chris and let him know about new outlet requirement. The 17th of September was the milestone day for the electrical work. Chris with an apprentice and another master electrician were very busy completing the remainder of the work. They connected the double oven, cooktop and range hood. The 30 amp connector was connected to the transfer switch, the two exterior outlets and new counter outlet were installed. Chris installed the two pendant lights and new chandelier. I explained to Chris what we were looking for in under-cabinet lighting and he explained the options and prices. I gave him a price range and was very happy with his selection. I would NOT hesitate to use Calkins Electric for any additional work. He was extremely tolerant and understanding of our scheduling issues. Working with him and his TEAM was a pleasure. He and his crew were very professional and kept the work area clean and tidy. I highly recommend them for any electrical work you may need.

I called Calkins Electric and Chris Calkins answered the phone. He explained that he was currently on a job and would call me back, which he did the next day. After a brief conversation outlining our needs, he said he would be over shortly. About an hour later he was on the premises. I was very happy to get such a quick response to my request for service. He reviewed our situation and tried a spare bulb we had on hand for the kitchen fixture, but it did not fit. He went to his supplier and returned with what he needed to complete the job. When we moved to the laundry room he realized a part from the supplier was broken and he said he would go back to get the correct part, but we were off the clock. I thought that was not just fair, but generous. In total he spent about two hours on the job. He was professional, polite and very efficient.

It was great. Very professional and extremely helpful. I would absolutely use Calkins Electric in the future.

Chris Calkins got right back to me when I called, his work was great, he is very Knowledgeable with old houses, would call him for all my electrical work he comes in and gets right to work
