This started as an emergency call and Chris walked me through the work that had to be completed. Problem was fixed till repairs could be made a few days later. Once great price was agreed on, he arrived on time with his staff to get started. This is an old house which I'm sure gave them some challenges, but they efficiently went about their business and answered all my questions, got the job done, left everything clean and made sure I was satisfied. Kudos to Will and Aimee! I would highly recommend and will definitely use Calkins Electric again for my next project.

+ -1 moreChris either answered my calls or called me back quickly. As stated in question 7 above, the work was very professionally done, showing Chris’ level of experience and attention to detail. Having noticed additional electric issues, Chris was able to make changes to make our home safer. Chris was also very nice to work with.
Description of Work: In our kitchen we had two sets of electric plugs which powered several appliances which made the circuit breaker switch every time we used more than one appliance. Therefore, Chris added three additional circuits to our circuit board; separated two electric plugs and connected each to each of the new circuits to spread the appliance use to each circuit. Chris added a new electric plug at our center island under the countertop. He also fixed an existing electric plug which did not work with a new one. Chris moved the location of the wall on/off switch in our living room to another electric plug so we could use the on/off switch for a better located electric plug. Chris also reconnected a couple of existing circuits to each circuit in our circuit board. Chris also identified the wrong wiring for the water heater which was out of code and could have started a fire and replaced the wire with the appropriate wire. Chris also identified, in our kitchen, the wrong connection from our wine cooler to a electric plug which was two cabinets away from the cooler which required the prior electrician to have to create two holes in the back of out cabinets for the wire to go through to get to the electric plug. This wire passed through our cabinet which we have our many cooking sheets and cutting boards. Each time we pushed these to the back of the cabinet, it pinched the wire where, in time, the wire would become frayed and eventually could start a fire. Chris put in a new electric plug right behind the cooler.

I texted him the situation and he gave me a recommendation. It worked. When a company is willing to help you out in an emergency, they are truly a great company! He was very honest. It’s hard to find companies like these nowadays. I will be calling Calkins for any future electrical work.

+ -1 moreExcellent, Chris and Amie fit us in within 24 hours. It would have been about 10 hours but I couldn’t get out of work. I was very appreciative since we’re in a middle of a heat wave and it’s a day before the 4th. They tracked down the problem and also identified that the safety breaker was no longer operational. All was fixed. I have two other projects that I’ll definitely use Chris for.

Description of Work: We had our electrical service line ripped off our house due to a tractor trailer snagging the feeder line in our street. This happened on Thanksgiving eve so it was a scramble to find someone who could restore power and save our Thanksgiving gathering the next day. Chris was available and jumped in action to acquire the materials needed before the supplier closed. All and all, we were without power for only six hours. This included Eversource's work. Chris replaced the main line attached to the house, the meter box, and breaker panel. He was very helpful and understanding during our ordeal and his installation work was clean and professional!

+ -1 moreAble to schedule same day service, although not expected was much appreciated. Chris and Amy traced down the problem to a connection box and transformer under the deck. Repairs were made and they even assisted in re seating the sockets and switches.
Description of Work: Circuit repair. I was not able to reset circuit breaker. Self troubleshooting had ruled out a loose connection with a socket or light switch.
