Fine Home Contracting provides exceptional kitchen, bathroom and whole home interior and exterior renovations and remodeling services. We have been trusted to assist homeowners turning their dreams into reality for nearly 20 years! We pride ourselves in quality craftsmanship, transparent communication and cutting edge technology to create a best in class experience that sets us apart in the industry.
"As someone who's previously worked on several renovations with contractors, I can't say enough good things about Fine Home Contracting. I was on a time crunch and had a list of miscellaneous things that I needed done in order to turn-over the property quickly. This included everything from new backsplash, removing old countertops, installing vanities & toilets, installing interior and exterior doors, plumbing, etc. What really blew me away with this company were three main things. 1) Communication: Not once did I have an issue talking to Dave or his team. I’ve dealt with contractors in the past who go silent for days at a time and are hard to reach. The FHC team and I sent messages back and forth using the CoConstruct portal which made it really easy to track the progress of the job. They would add in notes and pictures as things were finished. They quickly answered every question I had along the way and were really flexible with product/material options and adjusting the scope of work along the way. 2) Timeline and price: I received four quotes from contractors, FHC was right in the middle, not the cheapest but also not the most expensive. They were up-front with their timeline during our first conversation. Not only did they come in under the initial proposed budget as the scope of work changed, they also finished ahead of schedule. Ahead of time and under budget is a first for me when it comes to contractors. 3) Professionalism: The owner Dave was always really easy to worth with right from the jump. It was obvious from the beginning that he knew what he was doing and ran a professional company. The team that physically showed-up on site to do the work was top notch. These guys were at the house on time when they said they would be, they worked hard and often times were there late (I was frequently there doing other work while they were there, and saw first-hand how they worked). The quality of work was great. They didn’t cut corners or try and rush to get the job done. If something in the scope of work needed adjusting or they discovered something along the way that needed to be fixed, they reached out to me quickly with several alternative options and made me feel like I was part of the project. I don’t have a single bad thing to say about this company. I’ve never worked with contractors that made me feel 100% comfortable during the entire project. I didn’t wonder if they’d finish the job on time, or if surprise charges would show-up on the final invoice. Great communication. Great quality of work. Hard workers. Fair prices. Fine Home Contracting is a company I trust and highly recommend."

At Window Nation, we know replacement windows. We’re third-generation window replacement experts who have been lucky to provide homeowners replacement windows, siding, and doors for over fifteen years. We opened our first showroom in Maryland in 2006, quickly growing to serve homeowners in cities across the country – and we’re not stopping there. We’re grateful for every homeowner who has trusted us to upgrade their most important asset: their home. We’ve learned a lot about home improvement over the years, but the most important thing we learned isn’t about window replacement. We learned the home improvement industry isn’t about offering the best windows, siding and doors; it’s about the relationships we build with our customers.
"I would not recommend window nation, especially the Hartford branch. It took one week for a single window to be installed, and there was terrible customer service. A sub-contractor fell off my roof installing the window, thankfully he seemed to be ok after refusing ambulance transport (thankfully I have his unsafe working practices on video from cameras on my house). In the days following workers showed up unprepared with no materials to finish the job, and I was left with a unfinished window through multiple snow and rain events. The window was finally finished but I have, reservations that it was done correctly. There was supposed to be a window nation representative by the name of Bill from the Hartford branch who was supposed to come to my house 3 separate times for appointments, two times were last minute notifications that he would not be coming, and the third time was no call no show. Bill is slick and never put these appointments in the system, so when you call in regards to the appointment customer service blew me off many times saying that there was no appointment ever set up. I can't make this up. So, if you like wasting time, being blown off, unsafe working practices, and spending tens of thousands of dollars for terrible customer service then this is the company for you. My next steps will include contacting the local building inspector, OSHA for the unsafe working practices, and the BBB to try and get my concerns resolved. The point of this companies’ sole existence is to provide the customer with a service. With phone numbers that lead to nowhere and no returned phone calls, I can only imagine what the service will be like when I have a warranty issue. Stay away."

If you have a problem with your window, such as broken glass, minor leaks, or a problem with your window being stuck, repairing the broken part might be a cheaper option than replacing the entire window. However, if you have a deteriorating window frame or major leaks, buying a new window will be the better long-term solution.
Window replacement can become costly, especially if you’re replacing your whole home. There are a few steps you can take to help save money on the bottom cost while still giving your windows a facelift.
Replace multiple windows at once to bundle your purchase
Inquire about discounts, coupons, or special offers
Consider window repair as soon as you see damage to help prevent the need for replacement
Maintain your windows often by inspecting your windows for drafts, leaks, and cracks
There are certain window repairs that are cost-effective to DIY and relatively simple for homeowners to tackle themselves. Tasks like replacing a screen, replacing a lock, or sealing a window are typically under $30 and take minimal time to do yourself. However, if you need to replace your window or repair a broken double pane, it’s best to call in a professional window replacement installer to lend a hand. Replacing the majority or all of the windows in your home is a time consuming job and best left to a professional.
Window replacement costs between $180 and $410 per window, or an average of $280 per window. However, your specific replacement job could cost as little as $100 or as much as $750. Factors such as frame material, the number of windows you need, and the type of glass you order all impact the overall cost. For example, simple double-glazed windows will cost $3 to $6 per square foot, but the stronger tempered glass ranges from $12 to $14 per square foot.
The time it takes to replace a window is a total of four to 15 weeks. This time includes your initial consultation, appointments for measuring, as well as ordering and manufacturing your windows. For a smaller job, you can expect the total timeline to be on the shorter end, but for a whole house window replacement, it might take longer (or be split into multiple install appointments). Once your windows are created and ready to be installed, your window installer will take 30 to 60 minutes per window to install.
