Our clothes washer stopped mid-cycle. I called Doug based on Angie's List reviews. He answered the phone himself, scheduled an appointment within 24 hours of my call and arrived within a two hour window of time as promised. He then diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly. Friendly, efficient and very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend him.

When I called Doug I had to leave a message because he was on another call but he called me back almost immediately and set up an appointment the next day within a 2 hour block. He arrived the next day, a Thursday, within the block of time he had promised and assessed the situation. He stated we needed a new clock that controls the oven and stove top in order to get the oven working again. He said that if he didn't have one at his office/shop/home that he would order one and it could be in by Monday or Tuesday. He gave us the estimate of the repair and we paid a $100 dollar deposit by check. By Tuesday I hadn't heard anything so I called to check in. He stated that the part should be in any day but that it hadn't arrived yet.He called me Friday afternoon to let me know that the part had arrived but that he wouldn't be able to make it to my house until Monday morning. He gave me a two hour block again and stated he would be there then. On Monday the two hours almost went by but just at the end of the second hour he called to say he'd be arriving soon. And he did. He replaced the part in no time. We paid the remaining balance by check for the repair which was the price he'd quoted. A couple of observations:1. Doug was prompt about taking and returning phone calls.2. The part he replaced only cost about 3 dollars more than it would've cost me to purchase online. Difference being, I know nothing about this stuff. Worth the 3 dollars? Yes. Also, I am guessing, based on the packaging that the part came from a reputable warehouse of some kind--not some fly-by-night internet sales type. So, though it took a while for the part to come in, I'm going to give Doug the benefit of the doubt that the part really did take a long time to arrive from the place he ordered it from.3. The cost was reasonable considering he had to come to my house two times. In other circumstances I've had to pay a fee to estimate the problem, a fee to fix the problem, etc. There wasn't any of that in this case.4. The only issue I have, and the reason I marked Puncuality a and quot;Band quot;, has everything to do with the length of time it takes Doug to find a bank to cash his checks at. The first check we wrote him was written on 05/10/2012 and it wasn't cashed until 05/18/12. The second check I wrote him was written on 05/21/2012. Today is 06/05/12 and that second check has yet to be cashed. As someone who does most banking online or by credit card I find myself wondering when my books will balance. So, be aware if you are monitoring your budget closely.5. I would recommend his service to others. He shows up when he says he will (and if he can't he'll call), he performed the work quickly, the price was right, and he explained everything in simple terms.

I called Doug's appliance in the morning and he said he could be there that day. I was at work and couldn't get home to have to work done. He said he could be at my house between 5:00 and 7:00 if that was easier for me. Of course, it was and of course, I was very happy. He said he would be at the house at 5:00 and he was very punctual. Everything was replaced to my satisfaction. I was very pleased with the work that was done and would use Doug again if and when I needed an appliance repaired.

I have been using him for probably 20 years. I had a stove where the timer was not working; he looked all over and said that it would cost a certain amount for installation of a new timer. But he recommended that it was cheaper if the stove was replaced. He has provided recommendations before. We have had problems with dishwashers due to hard water and he has taken care of that. He is very reasonable and thorough. The quality is wonderful and he is very honest. His price is very reasonable. I have called him on issues and he has been able to come out the same day which is a big thing. I have recommended him to anyone who has asked me about appliance repairs.

He is fabulous. He came exactly when he said he would, fixed the problem for the amount he said he would and cleaned up after the repair was made.

I called Doug in the morning and we scheduled an appointment later in the day. He was running a little late because of a delay in his prior service call and he called and let us know he would be a little late (about 15 - 30 minutes). Doug checked all the obvious reasons why the dishwasher was not draining (broken drain pump, clogged drain line, etc.) but none of those were the problem. He then looked at a check valve which was made of rubber and found it had swollen with age and was sticking in the drain opening preventing the water from draining. He didn't know if he had the part since it is an unusual problem but amazingly he found the part in his van. When he showed me the new part and compared it with the swollen one, it was easy to see what the problem was. He replaced the part, re-assembled the dishwasher and it has been working perfectly since then. Doug was a real professional throughout the entire service call. He was punctual, courteous, the price was excellent and he really knows what he is doing. I have had other appliance repair services in the past but Doug is by far the best. He will be my appliance repair man from now on and I would recommend him to anyone.

Our refrigerator stopped working on a hot summer afternoon -- clearly an emergency! Other contractors that we called couldn't accommodate us until the following day. Doug, however, was able to give us a same-day appointment, within only a couple of hours. He was very efficient and thorough, and extremely professional. He figured out right away what the problem was, and was able to fix it on the spot. We are most impressed with his work and recommend him very highly.

Doug arrived on time and asked for a towel to place on the kitchen floor when he pulled the dishwasher out to install the pump drain. He is always concerned about the customer's satisfaction with his work. Very honest and has saved me a lot of money over t he years. Anne Cross Manchester CT

It is true that Doug does answer his phone, which is a plus. He ordered the gasket for us then came and installed it. First visit was around $80-ish, second visit was more, bringing the total up to $200. After he installed the gasket, he ran the washing machine to test it, but then left while it was still running. He wasn't gone 5 minutes when I had a flood all over my floor again. I called him and he came back later on that night and when he left he still wasn't sure it was fixed. He said it had probably leaked because he had run it with nothing in it. Duh. Shouldn't he have known this before he did it? He said he would check back to see if the most recent work did the trick but never did. We've since moved out, so I'm not sure if it really was fixed or not. All in all, this was a so-so experience.

Our electric oven was not heating. I replaced the temperature probe and checked that the heating element was getting current. Neither of these were the cause of the problem, so I called Doug's. Doug came out same day of the call. He was prompt and courteous. He determined the issue was with the circuit board and he soldered some loose connections in the board to fix the issue. He did the work for a good price. I would call him again for appliance problems.

He has fixed every appliance in my house at one time or another. He is very prompt. He lets you know right away what it's going to cost. He gives you the choice to repair or replace. He has always had good advice about whether it's time to replace an appliance or not. He is very honest about that sort of thing. When he says an appliance is dead, it's dead.
