I was left with a purple master bedroom and on suite after purchasing a new property, so I called up Don to see what he could do. He was courteous, respectful, and 100% professional. He gave me some advice on color choices based on the natural lighting of the room, which is something I appreciated because of my lack of artistic vision. Don and his son Zach came back and caulked the floor boards in order to remove any gaps between the walls (which made a huge difference in terms of the quality of the final job), and then began to paint. Zach was friendly, respectful, and just as professional as his father, and he is truly a magician with a paintbrush! He meticulously measured all the tape lines to insure that there would not be any bleeding through or wavy paint lines. I could not be more pleased with the quality of the work and I will definitely recommend them to any one who is in need of painting services.

I have a 90 year old colonial that had many damaged plaster walls, including bad past paint jobs. Don Fritz is a magician at restoration. The walls that he prepared looked like glass -- the best they have looked since we purchased the home in 1987! We are currently preparing to put the house on the market. Don and his son Zachary were the height of professionalism and helpfulness. Not only did they restore the walls and paint each room; Don also focused on presentation, taking care that all aspects of the job were visually pleasing. Don was also quite fair with pricing, trying where he could to shave expenses without sacrificing quality. This was a terrific experience. I recommend Don and Zachary highly and enthusiastically.

Dawn is professional and reliable. Gets the job done when he says he will. Very clean worker - no mess afterwards. He takes pride in his work and there is never any color from the walls on the trim or vice versa. He is trustworthy and you can leave him in your house while you go to work. We have hired him three times - always a pleasant experience!

We moved into a new home in July and pretty much every room needed to be repainted. Don and his son did a beautiful job with great attention to detail, whether this meant additional prep work before painting, applying an extra coat, or going back for touch-ups after the fact. Despite this attention, they worked very quickly. They were also very flexible about working around our schedule. Being first-time home-owners, we really appreciated Don's experience. As he is fond of saying, "I won't let you make a mistake" and that is true! We would absolutely use him again and highly recommend him.

He is very good. He is dependable and maintains a clean jobsite. He is trustworthy as well.

Don painted our first floor two years ago. Now he is painting our basement. I wouldn't call anyone else. He is terrific.

DMZ Painting did a terrific job. The sun porch first required treatment for mildew on ceiling (from moisture from plants of previous owner), then complete repainting; the frame around sliding doors to back yard required stripping old paint damaged by moisture. Don Fritz and his son Zack were thoroughly professional. They accommodated our schedules, cleaned up meticulously after their work, and Don went out of his way to make sure we were happy with the results. All the painting was done very skillfully and looks great. Considering the high level of care and quality of their work, the price was eminently fair. We will certainly turn to DMZ again for future painting needs.

Don is a true professional who pays enormous attention to detail, as demonstrated in a beautiful final product as well as the time and effort he dedicated to prep work. Before Don and Zack even began painting, significant time was put into scraping down ceilings, sanding bumpy walls, fixing trim, etc. Painting the interior of this old home included a lot of detail work around windows and trim which he and Zack got just right. Don and Zack went above and beyond the call of duty as well, removing shelves and coordinating help for some other necessary repairs, etc. that allowed us to get the house ready for the move. They did a beautiful job and we look forward to them coming back soon to take on our recently remodelled bathrooms!

Don is a master painter. He and his son Zack delivered a top quality paint job that has my wife and I marveling every day that we look at it. After living with wallpaper in nearly every room for the past 20 years, we decided it was time for it to go. After our son spent about six weeks removing the wallpaper, we found DMZ Painting by searching Angie's List. It was between DMZ and another company, and the other company came in with a much higher estimate. After seeing the work that DMZ did, I'm confident that the other company couldn't have matched the quality. The other company might have done the work faster because they have more people, but I don't think they would have come anywhere near the quality and attention to detail that we got from DMZ. In addition to painstakingly removing every speck of wallpaper residue from every wall, and scrubbing the walls, sills, and baseboards clean, Don set about making repairs to the wall surfaces, and there were many areas to fix. He also caulked areas that we hadn't even noticed were in need of caulk, such as our baseboards and built-in shelves, and some drafty windows. Don's expert caulking work made those areas look sharp even before the painting began. A real bonus for us was that Don is not only a great painter, but he has a keen eye for color and design as well. He made a number of great suggestions, not only about colors, but wth regard to construction as well. For example, he convinced us to ask our carpenter to install crown mouldings in the living room and dining room, and shoe mouldings for the baseboard in the kitchen, and we're so glad we listened to him. These items didn't cost much, but they look great. Don also helped us with color selection for every room. He offered us some custom colors that exactly fit our taste. After all the prep work was completed, the painting was done with great care and extreme attention to detail. I myself have OCD-like tendencies and was very worried that I'd see all sorts of flaws in the painting. But I never saw them. After the entire job -- that is, our entire house interior -- was painted, I could find only two or three tiny spots that needed correction, and Don and Zack fixed them instantly and cheerfully. Another thing that I had worried about was that there was going to be an incredible mess and that our lives would be disrupted for several weeks. But we were pleasantly surprised at the careful cleanup (including vacuuming) that was performed at the end of each day. They made the whole thing as painless as possible. Aside from both of them being punctual and totally professional in what they do, I have to say that both Don and Zack are extremely nice people who are a pleasure to talk with and be around. We really enjoyed them while they were here. Because there was so much work to do (mainly due to the wallpaper residue and the poor condition of the walls), and because we were remodeling our kitchen, we split the painting work into two phases. About half was done in the first three weeks of January, and the rest was done in the last two weeks of April, after we had remodeled our kitchen. All in all, our experience with DMZ far exceeded our expectations and we wouldn't hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to our friends and acquaintances.

Don is the ultimate professional and it's clear that he takes pride in his work and loves his job. His consultation was thorough, his estimate was fair and his work was impeccable. He made suggestions for repairs and paint types that made sense, picked up the paint and materials for the job and worked quickly and efficiently to finish the job in just a few days. Don's son transformed our boring guest bedroom into a beautiful nursery for our little girl and he did an amazing job, we love it! The bathroom also came out great and Don was wonderful to work with throughout the process. We would definitely hire them again and recommend them highly for your interior painting needs!

We moved in on Feb 3. Don came by that day to look at our place and give us an estimate on the painting. The job started with just the kitchen and the dining room, which were both AWFUL colors. The kitchen was gold, the dining room was dark, a shiny, dark navy blue. The ceilings in both rooms are very high, 14' or more. Don was great with the details and suggested ways to fix things that we hadn't even noticed yet. Don was there first thing each morning working. Zach came every afternoon and was a very hard worker. Zach has a great eye for color and design...a chip off the old block as Don is very good with color and ambiance. When they were about 3 days into the kitchen and dining room job, we decided to have them do the living room also. It also has very high ceilings and some strange angles. It was not a problem for Don and Zach. They actually ended up finishing the whole job about a day earlier than scheduled. Don was great with color choice advice. Since we were new to town, Don and Zach gave us some great tips on restaurants and things to do in the area. All that we have tried have been great! Don also gave us the name of a plumber for future work we need to have done. I enjoyed hanging out with Don and Zach. They are good people and very hard workers. They did a great job and we are VERY happy with the outcome!

The work was done quickly and when Don found that he was able to do the work in less time than he had estimated, he reduced the price. I was so appreciative because we are trying to get our house ready to sell and needed other work done as well so it really helped our budget. Both Don and and his son were friendly, helpful and did a great job! I was so impressed with their honesty and their ability to get the work done quickly but with attention to details one expects of a good professional. I highly recommend them.

He did excellent work. He was clean, neat, and on time. He was professional. He gave me the name of a carpenter to do my countertops and tile person for my backsplash. Both of the recommendations were really good.

I own a three family and have used a number of painters over the years. I consider finding Don and early Christmas present. He does amazing work, top notch workmanship, very detail oriented, ethical, great with color suggestions and correcting difficult areas.... Cant say enough about how impressed I am with his work, expertise and authenticity... Call him!

Don and Zach painted my condo when I first moved in and did a fabulous job! A year later I decided to paint some hallways and the deck outside and Zach did this job and it came out wonderfully! Zach did an excellent job and I was very pleased. I like these guys a lot and they're very trustworthy. Don and Zach did an outstanding job. The place looks beautiful. They were both a pleasure to deal with, personable and honest and I would/will hire them again. You won't find any better. Don Fritz did a great job, completing the work in a meticulous, neat, and timely manner. He was just outstanding, and a pleasure to work with. There are a couple of things I would like to mention about the sort of person Don is. First, he's extremely trustworthy. Since I couldn't always be around during working hours I gave him a key to the place and let him work by himself. Second, he's very responsible and considerate. He brought several problems to my attention I hadn't known about, some of which had nothing to do with painting. Sometimes he'd just go ahead and fix the problem himself without being asked. Several people have commented about the quality of his work, without any prompting from me. I'd hire him again in a heartbeat, and recommend him to anyone who's looking for a good painter.

On time. Fair estimate. Kept within budget. Extremely professional. Trustworthy (left him keys to my house and allowed him to get work done with no one home). Pleasant. Friendly. Extremely hard working. Went over and above on numerous occasions and made the job look better than I expected it to look. I just hired him again to do another job.

We had a week between tenants to freshen up the condo. We try to keep it in great shape, to do repairs and maintenance on time, but we were also on a tight budget and a tight schedule. Don Fritz delivered on all counts. He is very professional, does not cut corners, knows the difference between good work and sloppy work. He made some suggestions about paint color and finish that were very helpful. He also gave us what we thought was a fair price. He did the job very quickly (3 days), was very accommodating to our schedule (we were actually staying in the condo with a 5-yr old), easy to communicate with, just all around great experience. The apartment looks great, the tenants are very happy. And because we didn't have to supervise the painting, we got a lot more repair and maintenance done in the apartment during the week that we were there. Thanks Don!
