It could not have gone better! Don worked with us as we considered several options on how to lighten the wood. Although he knew from experience that some of the options we wanted to try weren't likely to produce acceptable results, he was endlessly patient. Once we decided to paint the room, he recommended a colleague with expertise in spraying to do the first portion of the work--he, like Don, was meticulous about his work. He had a system to exhaust the fumes out of the house, and he taped the room carefully so that when he finished, it looked clean and perfect. We didn't think all of the seams needed to be caulked, but in fact they did! It was a huge job for a small space, but the results are impressive. Aside from his work we found Don to be a great person, with his values reflected in the quality of his work. We can recommend him without reservation

Don is the ultimate professional and it was nothing but a positive experience. I think he went up and beyond the call of duty for his price but I'm not going to complain. He came over for a consultation and I immediately felt comfortable. He was my first estimate but it just felt right to go with DMZ and not look any further. He helped pick out colors and offered suggestions and in return I have a beautifully painted condo. He put up samples before painting and let me decide the best color. He painted the basement Tan, the bathroom white, the first floor landing white including the steps, walls and ceilings. The kitchen, dining room and living room were painted blue with two accent walls, the upstairs landing blue and the master bedroom a beautiful gray. My condo was empty and new, so I gave him a key and he completed the work in a few days and it was ready for my move in day. I can't say enough good things about my experience. His son helped and they're both extremely pleasant and even left me a little present. If I ever need more painting done DMZ is my first and only choice and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants a professional job! Thanks Don!

Don and Matt worked long days,were meticulous about cleaning up, and did professional work. They helped me to select colors and gave me sound advice re the importance of keeping the future buyer in mind. I wanted to use several colors that would not have been neutral enough for a prospective buyer. In the end I am glad I listened to them!

The experience took just over 2 weeks, and Don and his son, Matt were always punctual, arriving on time at 8am and working until 5pm. On the days they were late, they always called or let us know of their schedule the day before. They worked meticlulously, cleaned up any holes in the walls, smoothed out any rough surfaces, and managed to make the decades old moldings look like new. Don offered some color suggestions that worked out very well, and would continually offer suggestions throughout the project. He sanded down some sticky doors, and made sure the rooms looked complete in every way before he moved on. Matt did most of the painting, and did a fantastic job. He was meticulous, conscientious, and thorough, and was very pleasant to work with during the entire project. They both did a great job, and were sure to clean up, vaccuum, and put everything away at the end of every day. They even did the radiators, which looked hideous before, and now look like a part of a nice renovation. Overall, we were very pleased, and would definitely call them in the future if we needed any more work done.

Don's an absolute gem--highly professional, very personable, and meticulous in his work (without charging you an arm and a leg for his perfectionism). Our house looks absolutely fabulous! We had a lot of tradesmen helping out with renovations, and Don was easily one of the best. He came over multiple times to help us figure out what colors we wanted, without charging for those visits, and I think all those trips were on the evening or weekend, since that was convenient for us. He gave us samples to take with us while picking out tile, etc, and labeled the leftover paint afterward so we'd be able to do touch ups ourselves in the future. Don worked with our schedule and helped us keep costs down, giving us revised estimates as the scope of the work increased after the project was underway. He and his son Zach worked around the electrician, plumber, cabinetmaker, etc, and they even cleaned up the messes of other less conscientious people. They repaired an old plaster wall that was buckled and bubbly, making it perfectly smooth, and they repaired a ceiling that was falling down due to a leaky roof, matching the texture to the ceiling around it so you can't tell anything ever happened. When they painted our 3-story hallway, they made a lot of repairs to the woodwork, filling in molding that was breaking apart and replacing an access panel. They even fixed the stairs so they wouldn't be so creaky. Don has also referred us to a plumber and a housecleaner who are top notch, and we'd now trust anyone he respects, since we know he holds himself to the highest standards. It's not a coincidence that DMZ Painting has more glowing reviews than almost any other company on Angie's List--they're simply the best.

Don was Wonderful! He was was very professional from begining to end. When you first meet him you know right away that he is honest & responsible, someone you trust leaving in your house. He was very helpful in assisting to pick out a color... he even brought some samples to try on the wall to give some ideas as to what other shade would work in the room. He worked very neat & clean, even put some of the furniture back when he was done. We were looking for a professional to do the work because our walls were in bad shape.. from the hideous semi-gloss paint showing all little imperfections, to all the bigger problems of pop-outs and patchwork that needed to be done. Don did an excellent job at fixing as many of the issues as he could. We couldn't have asked for a better job... the walls look 100 percent better. We would highly reccomend DMZ painting to anyone & will definitely use him again.

Job went very well, Don's son did the paneling first and was very thorough and clean up was good. The fresh paint really makes the kitchen look so much better than it was. We were comfortable leaving them in the house while we were out.

I liked all of the positive remarks that I had seen on Angie's List. The owner Don was patient and has a good eye for color and design. He took time to listen to what I liked and made good suggestions. I feel that they are perfectionists. He took some time to prepare the walls so that I got quality results. His son Matt really pays attention to detail.

What an amazing experience. Don and his son were excellent, and their work and work ethic are rare, above many other service providers. Don was patient with my color choices and changes, and was very helpful in making recommendations. Even though the final price was a bit higher than the estimate, it was reasonable considering the extras and quality job provided. They worked hard, and had to work around a lot of other work going on in the home. Friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, and very trustworthy. I will call them again when in need, and feel lucky that they were able to do the job and fit me in their schedule quickly, considering they are in demand.

Don was a joy to work with. He was always on time and kept in touch with me regarding the progress of the job. His work was excellent. I highly recommend DMZ. He ended up doing more than I had originally requested and the ultimate price, while higher than the estimate, was completely in line with the work he performed.

I found DMZ Painting through Angie's list.Not only did Don and his sons do an excellent job but they went above and beyond what I expected. I had some issues with some of the colors I chose and the color didn't come out the right way 2 separate times. Don was not only patient but he even came out to my home on his day off to help me choose the right color, and he was even more then fair with the price. If your looking for someone who will paint your home as if it's their own, care about it and the results, go out of their way to help you with any other improvements you have going on then DMZ painting is that company! I"m so happy that I found them through Angie's List and I can say honestly for any of you that are hesitant (like I usually am) just call Don and in your first meeting you will see how much he cares about every single project and that he will work through any type of issue and help you make your home beautiful!

It went extremely well. We picked DMZ due to their rating on Angie's List and are very happy that we did. Don Fritz and his sons Matt and Zack (D M and Z) are all professionals, work very well together as a team and do a beautiful job. As mentioned above, they make sure to care of every detail, from the prep work to final touch ups and it shows in their superior work. They were very helpful throughout the entire process, and are very easy to work with. We had a short time window between the closing on our house and when we had to move in, and wanted to get a lot of work done in that time. Don was absolutely fantastic in accommodating our schedule - they worked very long days to get the work done in time, and kept us updated on their progress throughout. Everything stayed on schedule and the final price was spot on his original quote. As another review stated, DMZ won't be the cheapest quote you receive, but the price is very fair and the results are well worth it!

Don quoted a competitive price and met with me at the condo twice before beginning work. He started work when he said he would, paid very close attention to detail (including cleaning up some sloppy work by the previous painter), kept disruption to a minimum, and used premium-quality paint. He carefully moved objects when necessary. He finished when he said he would and cleaned up thoroughly. The result was a beautiful job. Everything looks great.

Fabulous! I can't say enough positives about this painter. He's smart and personable, with excellent color sense. He has a huge ''following'' and most of his work is repeat business or by referral from past customers. Don called and showed up exactly when he said he would. He went the extra mile to make sure the worksite was totally cleaned up afterwards. His prices aren't the lowest around, but they are an excellent value and entirely fair. I've never had such a carefree contractor encounter!
