Guarco Construction Driveway Paving & Snow Removal

It went extremely well and only took one day. Carl Guarco, the owner, was honest, knowledgeable and willing to listen to the way that I wanted things to be done. He did it exactly the right way. His men were hard working and attended to every detail. I have a drainage ditch across the driveway and was worried it might get damaged. It didn't. I have a stone wall next to driveway and that wasn't disturbed.

Carl, Tony and the rest of the crew were incredibly nice and explained every little detail of the process! You couldn't ask for a better experience. I was amazed at how detailed and concerned they were with the quality and workmanship. This is a driveway not a kitchen remodel, yet they spent hrs. Prepping, laser measuring and grading every detail prior to paving. The driveway came out as smooth as a baby's bottom! When it rains, the water sheds of the driveway like it should. No puddles, not issues at all. And my driveway is located in a clay dirty part of West Hartford. I am so glad I found Carl Guarco of Guarco Constriction! Thank you so much!!

The crew did an excellent job. Carl Guarco was easy to work with and very professional - he answered our calls that same day or the next whenever we had a question. He charges more than most other estimates we got but his reviews were what sold us - almost every review was excellent. Also, he is listed on the approved list of paving contractors in our town (West Hartford) whereas most of the others were not on our town's list. And other contractors had some really bad reviews! Our instincts proved right!

It went exceptionally well. Carl was fantastic to work with. I called him and he came over within an hour the first time I called him. He gave me an excellent price. He returned all phone calls promptly. He was honest in all of our conversations. He completed the work quicker than I thought was possible. The driveway looks wonderful.

Called Carl and asked for a quote, he worked with my busy schedule and came after-hour. Offered me two options without any pressure, then he left to let me decide whether I want to go ahead with the job or not. I decided to go ahead, he showed up again after business hour and we signed the contract. Next week he showed up with a crew and took the old surface off. Later he told me that the base material is not the best and if I want its better to replace the whole base near the garage door with an additional cost to increase the life. I declined and we decided to mix the top of the same base with additional stone to make it stronger and more stable, the cost went up slightly. Had to wait about 10 days for them to come back ( he wanted the base to be dry befre putting the asphalt for quality purposes). They repaved the driveway and did a great job. During the job he gave me a tentative time when they would come and then called me the evening of the day before or the morning of same day before showing up. He did not accepted the second/final payment ( the first one was paid at the time when we he started the work) untill I came home and inspected the work and was happy with it. He also told us to call him with any issue ( his fault or not) so he fix it. It was great doinh business with him. Everything went smoothly and as planned.

Carl and his crew did an excellent done in all phases of our project. He provided the estimate and explained in great detail what he would do. He answered all our questions and returned all our phone calls. The work was done in three stages: old driveway removal and regrade, final materials before paving and then the actual paving. First and third stages took one day each. Carl accurately described each phase. I was impressed by his integrity and honesty. I would recommend him to anyone and would hire him again!

It went great. They added a turnaround that had a big ugly old shrubbery stump in the way and they pulled the stump out with a Bobcat for no extra charge. Carl is a true pro. Everything was done way ahead of deadline and exactly according to the contract. I have arranged a great deal of construction contracts in my former professional capacity and Guarco Construction is a company that I would absolutely use again and give priority to in my former job. When you're looking for a paving company - look for an outfit that's been doing business under the same name for a long time. That's what tells you who knows what they're doing - that's who has survived multiple market upturns and downturns - that's Guarco Construction.

Excellent! Carl showed up on time, his crew was professional. Very pleased with the work he did. After completing the driveway, he came by to discuss the job and asked for constructive criticisms. Very pleased. Will definitely recommend and we are looking to work with Carl this winter for snow removal.

Carl and his crew did excellent work. They removed the old driveway earlier than planned due to a weather opportunity. Communication was clear and I knew what to expect. The new base was graded in and there was some concern over one small area with a water issue, but thankfully it dried out well. Final grading was done, and the paving was done earlier than the contract date, although there was a short delay due to broken equipment. Again, communication was clear. I would recommend Guarco Construction to anyone needing paving work done.

Carl was great from beginning to end of the project. Rainy days prolonged the work, but he was good about communicating with us when we needed to remove our cars the night before the work was done. He was also present and working with his team throughout. We have just had the work completed yesterday, so it is difficult to rate the work over time, but we are not concerned because Carl gave us a lifetime warranty, and promised to do whatever was needed if there is a problem in the future. We would recommend his work.

In a word, fabulous. Carl is true to his record of excellent customer satisfaction, not just for the easy parts, but especially at critical times during the project when unknowns (weather, site condition) required extra work. He kept it affordable, his crew worked hard, the results were fantastic.

The crew came on the day they said they would....they took the old asphalt out...dug out the problem water area and replaced it with stone then a layer of material...the driveway was pitched so the water would drain away and then compacted.He told us that he would't put down the asphalt until the base was ready..Ashalt went down..rolled and inspected...It's been 1 year now..our water draining problem solved and we are very happy with the job..They went over and beyond to get the job done to his and our liking.

We called Guarco Construction Driveway Paving to give us estimate for replacing our driveway and Carl responded quickly and came out exactly when he said he would. We were given a written estimate and it was fair and complete, but we understood we could have issues with the driveway that he couldn't see until he dug it up. It is a special situation with special attention to drainage required and we all assumed it would require special handling which Carl told us that up front. The driveway is complete and it looks fantastic. We chose the right company. There are many things I like about this company including their timeliness, honesty, excellent communication, they show up exactly when they say they will, good work ethic, and their price was very fair and Carl is very knowledgeable and professional. I first contacted Guarco Construction in the fall of 2015 to resurface my driveway when I learned that my town was about to tear up and resurface my road. Carl showed up and gave me an estimate which I found to be very reasonable and he provided the estimate in writing. I was convinced that I would have a new driveway for the winter. The plan was to remove my 40 year old driveway when the town tore up the road. Unfortunately my town dragged its feet in redoing my road and decided to change the plan and only resurface it instead. By the time this happened it was in November and was now too cold for Guarco to start the project. Carl was great during all of this and said not to worry and we would get back in touch in the spring. True to his word, we got back into it in March and Carl stuck to the written estimate he had provided the previous year. And when the weather cooperated they came and removed the old asphalt, rolled the new stone in and Carl wanted to let it sit for a few weeks. At this point he only wanted half of the fee. Again when the weather cooperated we got new asphalt which looks great. Carl refused the other half of the fee until both my wife and I were happy with the final product. Carl and his crew tore and replaced our existing driveway which is bit longer than typical houses in our area. It fans out wider in the back to connect to our 2 car garage. Carl was great at returning my calls throughout the process and communicating with me throughout the process. He came out each time that he said he would come out. They took their time doing our driveway correctly and I never felt like they were rushing the job. There was a very small crack on the side of my driveway this year and Carl came out right away and fixed it. I am very pleased all around with Guarco.

Excellent service! Carl Guarco was highly knowledgeable and professional. The previous driveway was very buckled and cracked and had a shallow base of stone. Carl recommended excavating 12 inches and providing a water resistant liner, then filling with stone, and he explained his reasoning. However, unexpectedly, there was water seepage at the 12" depth even though there had been no rain for a few weeks. He showed me the problem, which was obvious. This was an unexpected occurrence and he recommended excavating another 6 inches deeper, which would require additional stone for the base. He apologized and said he would cover the labor for free but would need to charge for additional stone, to which I agreed. As it happened, even at 18 inches there was wetness, and Carl continued excavating until he had dug out a full two feet, but he did not charge for these extra 6 inches of labor or stone. He lined the dug area with a water resistant barrier, filled it with two feet of stone and covered the area with asphalt. It is very smooth and even. This was all done in a timely manner. Carl always returned phone calls quickly and he and his crew were very pleasant to work with. I highly recommend him.

Carl cares! We've completed a major addition and much ancillary work at our home over the last year and have met, interviewed and hired many contractors. We've even fired a few. And Carl Guarco was one of the best that we dealt with. He usually answered the phone when we called and if he didn't, he got back to us in a timely fashion. He gave us his honest opinion of what work needed to be done to complete the job and clearly set expectations. He wasn't the lowest price, but once we agreed to terms, he didn't come back and ask for more money even though he ended up performing some additional work for us. His crew was courteous and left the job site clean. What most impressed me, however, was that Carl really cares about each project that he works on. He wanted our driveway to come out as good as we did. And that attitude came through in every interaction we had with him. When I first read reviews for Guarco, I was a bit puzzled that every one of them mentioned Carl by name. Now, I get it - he's proud of his work and his reputation and he deserves all of the praise. We highly recommend Carl and Guarco Construction.

Guarco Construction's quality of work, professionalism, care and responsiveness to our needs was excellent. We spoke with Carl on multiple occasions prior to him coming to our house and each time he would arrive when he said he would and offered his professional opinion on what would be best for our driveway. We were having work done around our yard so Carl had to work around the schedule of the rest of the contractors. The quality of the work that he and is crew did is excellent. Everything from the base they put down to the new asphalt was installed with care and it all looks great. He and his crew were sure to clean up and even fixed the curb that was damaged in the process. We are very happy with the new driveway we have and would recommend Guarco to anyone looking for a new driveway. Carl was great to work with and I can tell that my driveway will be top notch for years to come given the level of care and attention to detail they put into installing the new driveway.

My review would be almost verbatim what the reviewer on 8/23/2015 said. Carl was super responsive and took a good look at our driveway with all it's infrastructure challenges. We have an underground stream across part of our driveway and just generally pretty wet soil. Carl's estimate was the highest we received but not by much. The attention and thought he put into planning and explaining his plan to us so the driveway would last was well worth the extra $ (which was not much). His crew (Carl was working with his crew the whole time) was punctual, efficient, left the site clean, and did a great job. They even brought in extra top soil the next day, a Saturday, to complete the edge work. See pictures.

I'm not one to write reviews, but I have to with Guarco because of the care and professionalism. I had about a half dozen people look at my driveway and the needs for the new grading, and Carl was the only one to furrow his brow and really get into potential issues with water drainage, pitch requirements, and a host of other considerations. It was clear that he wanted to do it right , and he gave it the same care he would give his own place. The quality of the work is excellent. The base he put down top notch, and even the blending he did into the lawn using topsoil is done with care. There's no mess in his crew's work. He laid out a schedule and kept to it. He's easy to deal with and clearly is making his business based on excellence, not quantity. His bid was the highest of them all, but his attention to detail and knowledge makes it worth it. If you're flipping a house and intend to sell it in two months, don't use Guarco. If you intend to stay in that house for more than a few years, and you want it done right, these are the guys you want.

Carl was great about getting back to us when we called. He was very prompt in getting us our estimate. His price was a bit higher than the other estimates we received but his attention to detail and the fact that we didnt have to wait 3 months to get the job done, made the decision for us. We are very happy that we chose Guarco paving. His crew did a good job and was very polite. I would recommend them for any paving work.

Carl Guarco is excellent to deal with. Paving came out great. He evened out a low spot in my driveway and widened the apron on one side. all this for a very reasonable price. In fact, his price was lowest of 4 bids I got. I strongly recommend Guarco paving for driveways in the northern Connecticut area.
