Guarco Construction Driveway Paving & Snow Removal

I cant say enough about Carl and his company. We had a torrential downpour 3 days after he finished our driveway. The storm drain was plugged up. I had no one else to call. It was raining, dark, cold and water was approaching the house. He came out 45 minutes after hours to help me. Then he sent a man to fix the crimped drain pipe the next day!

Job came out great. Carl came out when he said he would, he was honest with his determination of the problem. He told me we wouldn't need a drain if the driveway were pitched properly. Solved the problem. No more water in the basement.

Carl was fantastic from start to finish. He returned my call same day, and came out the following morning to provide a formal quote. He was up front, honest and sincere about wanting to provide the best job possible, and I ended up signing a contract with him shortly thereafter. Carl and team arrived when they said they would the following week, and were meticulous about making sure my driveway was sloped and paved correctly. Carl assured me that if I had any issues (whether it be today or five years from now), as long as he was still alive and breathing, he would come back out and make it right. I will absolutely use him again in the future. It could not have been a more pleasurable experience. Thank you again for your wonderful work!

Contacted Carl Guarco after seeing all the positive reviews (70+) on Angies List. Cutting to the chase, everything went excellent and we are beyond pleased with his work. I would rate him as the best contractor I have ever worked with. I have worked with many. He called back the same day and came to our house that evening to evaluate the job. We have a 300 feet driveway which runs through the woods and the lot is entirely ledge on a ridge. The existing driveway was original to 1972 and pretty much in shambles. He identified it had a poor base to start with, and stated up front to do it right would require replacing all the base layer and quoted it accordingly. The next day we rec'd a second quote and which was a couple thousand less, however the second company did not quote or identify the need for the additional base to make the driveway perfect and last a long time. We felt much more confident with Carl, and wanted it to be perfect and last since it is such an investment. Our timing was great, as he had several jobs that were ready but awaiting dryer weather to lay the asphalt. Our base was over bedrock, so he was able to tear up the old, lay the new base, and proceed immediately to the asphalt. Unbelievably, it only took 5 business days from signing the contact to a new finished driveway ! He asked for 50% after the first day of work, and then final payment several days after the asphalt is laid. He allows the delay of the final payment for a couple of days to ensure the customer has time to evaluate they are completely pleased with the finished product. We are! Would highly recommend and hire again in a minute. Everything went exactly as he said it would, and he himself was onsite with his crew the entire time.

Guarco was called for an estimate and Carl responded within 2 hours and said that he would come the following day and do an estimate on both driveways. He arrived at the time stated, did all the measurements and gave a price for each driveway. After talking over the job, Carl said to get some other estimates and if we decided to hire him he would write up a formal contract for us to sign and begin the job within a week. We did exactly that and called 5 companies listed on Angies list, 2 firms gave estimates and 3 never showed up or called back. After everything was done we decided to hire GUARCO and called Carl, he came the next day with written estimates for each driveway and we signed them and mailed them in on Friday as instructed. Monday we got a call from Carl that he would be here to start the job in a few days depending on the weather. The Monsoon rains came on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday but cleared up for the weekend and on Monday night we got a call that they would start the job Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning they arrived with a full crew and tore up the driveways and then added stone and material needed to fill in and rolled it all smooth. Carl said he would leave it that way for about a week so that everything would settle since it was going to rain again. It did rain over several days and they came back about a week later and did some regrading and re rolling and said they would be back the next day to complete the job. Bright and early the next day they were back and completed a beautiful job, cleaned and swept up the whole area and put tape across both driveways to prevent anyone driving on them. We were told not to park on the driveway for at least a week because it was going to be in the high 90's for at least 6 days and to wet it down if it was really hot and we didn't get rain, but it rained 3 of the 7 days and cooled it down. On the 7th evening we were over joyed to park on a BEAUTIFUL super smooth driveway. Carl gave us a guarantee and said if there were any problems at all to call him and he would fix them . They were totally professional and I would definitely hire them again.

As an engineer, I can personally attest to Carl's technical knowledge, and based upon my experience, I can attest to his professionalism, meticulousness of workmanship, and value. I am incredibly pleased with the function and aesthetics of my new driveway. I highly recommend Carl and his team. I took numerous photos and videos of the process and uploaded them to YouTube so you can see for yourself.

The job went very well as Carl was very responsive and knowledgeable about slope and drainage of our property, he stuck to his cost and schedule, The project started with Carl walking my driveway which was 24 years old had developed heaves and major cracking. Carl explained the steps and how he would control drainage. He did what he quoted $6700 for a 1600 sqft driveway. His crew was very neat and cleaned up after, as well as very respectful of the lawn and landscape. Amazed how they maneuvered equipment as we have landscaping that boarders the driveway and did not damage anything. A major rain storm came over the weekend and I could see the water drain just how he had explained. I have to say I'm impressed as not every project turns out as planned.

Carl was great, definitely knew what he was doing. We needed a small basketball court paved into the top of the driveway, Carl got the area nice and level. He was VERY generous when he found out I was Military, he wanted to show his support for the military by providing EXTRA material for leveling and pitch AT COST! GREAT paver and better person

We had our driveway installed by Guarco Construction in September 2017. It was the BEST home improvement we have made by far, and we've made a lot of home improvements! Carl and his crew regraded our driveway which is quite steep. It is now easier to walk up and down the driveway, and the cars climb it much easier than before. Shovelling the snow this winter has been a pleasure because the new driveway is so smooth! Carl used a surface treatment that improves the grip of the asphalt so it is no longer slippery when it gets wet. We had the work done while we were away on vacation and Carl was a pleasure to deal with. We came home and had a beautiful level strong asphalt pad to park our 2 ton camper van on. Carl has assured us that if there is any problem his crew can come out and fix everything like new, and we believe him. I cannot say enough good things about this company. They did a beautiful job at our home and we would not hesitate to hire them again. We would also recommend them to anyone looking to get a professionally paved driveway. The cost of the job was reasonable, in line with other quotes, and the work was well worth the money. THANK YOU CARL!

Carl was very knowledgeable and professional. I got an estimate the same day that I called, which was much faster than anyone else. Within a couple weeks of signing the contract, the old asphalt was removed and additional base added. The new asphalt was installed about 2 weeks after that. I have seen some driveways in town sitting unpaved for months. Evidently these people were not using Guarco. It's only been about month since it was completed, but everything looks good so far. Note that you will have to get some topsoil to fill in along the edges of the driveway, and throw down some grass seed, but that's not a big deal.

I was extremely pleased with the work. my Guarco gave me confidence in his read i of the slope across my driveway and hundreds of feet of lawn. the plan he created meets my needs functionally as well as strategically. ( I wanted to reduce the complexity and cost of the future driveway project as well as some lawn drainage problems.) he is masterful in his ability to plan as well as his ability to manner his gear and team over difficult terrain. in short, I will use him again.

After meeting with the owner Carl Guarco, it was apparent that he was very knowledgeable and experienced. We have a steep driveway and he took the time to explain how it needed to be regraded to correct previous issues we had. Carl was very professional and it was easy to work with him. We would highly recommend Guarco Construction.

The final product is excellent. I got some other quotes before selecting Carl. The other guys mostly suggested shortcuts, for example using less processed stone or just paving over the existing asphalt. Two of those quotes were lower although one was actually higher. I decided that, given the slope and drainage concerns, I would go for a high quality job with no shortcuts. (Our daughter will be very thankful for this quality driveway after her parents are gone :-) Carl and his team were extremely professional and always concerned about customer satisfaction. They gave me options on drainage and together we worked out the best way to handle water runoff. When doing the actual paving they tested the drainage with a hose and made adjustments as necessary to ensure a perfect job. The old driveway removal took about a day and the final paving took the better part of a day. The result is a beautiful, smooth driveway, just as Carl said it would be, because he uses a grader and not just skid steers to level and smooth everything. We are very happy with the driveway!

Project went as hoped. Crew was meticulous and very kind. Carl, the owner, showed up promptly when called and project was completely within the time frame contracted. Everything was clean and fresh when crew departed. Very pleased with the service and communication.

Beautifully--Carl came quickly to do the estimate and always responded to phone calls. Compared to the other contractors we spoke to, I thought he was both more thoughtful about our needs and more conservative about where to put our efforts; after determining where our septic fields lie, he advised against the circular drive, but he also noted that given the condition of the existing driveway, repair would lead to cracks in a few years. His estimate for a complete replacement with added subsurface to improve grade was very competitive, and Carl scheduled our work along with another job he had in our neighborhood in order to offer us a discount. He and his crew were pleasant and professional, and our driveway looks perfect. I would recommend him highly.

It went extremely well and only took one day. Carl Guarco, the owner, was honest, knowledgeable and willing to listen to the way that I wanted things to be done. He did it exactly the right way. His men were hard working and attended to every detail. I have a drainage ditch across the driveway and was worried it might get damaged. It didn't. I have a stone wall next to driveway and that wasn't disturbed.

Carl, Tony and the rest of the crew were incredibly nice and explained every little detail of the process! You couldn't ask for a better experience. I was amazed at how detailed and concerned they were with the quality and workmanship. This is a driveway not a kitchen remodel, yet they spent hrs. Prepping, laser measuring and grading every detail prior to paving. The driveway came out as smooth as a baby's bottom! When it rains, the water sheds of the driveway like it should. No puddles, not issues at all. And my driveway is located in a clay dirty part of West Hartford. I am so glad I found Carl Guarco of Guarco Constriction! Thank you so much!!

The crew did an excellent job. Carl Guarco was easy to work with and very professional - he answered our calls that same day or the next whenever we had a question. He charges more than most other estimates we got but his reviews were what sold us - almost every review was excellent. Also, he is listed on the approved list of paving contractors in our town (West Hartford) whereas most of the others were not on our town's list. And other contractors had some really bad reviews! Our instincts proved right!
