Steve Basso Plumbing installed a new gas wall mounted tankless furnace and water heater last (NOV 2011) November. This was a conversion from oil to gas. From the very beginning I was very impressed with Steve. I had reached out to 4 different plumbers for estimates. 1 never called me back, 1 sent a quote in email and didn’t follow up, and the 3rd didn’t include removing the oil tank. Steve came over with the estimate and explained the entire process from the install to coordinating with the gas company. He also explained the timeline including the actual cutover to the new system and removing the old furnace and oil tank. Everything went according to his plan and the workmanship of the install was so good that the service guy from the gas company remarked on how good the install looked. The old furnace was over 30 years old and now my gas bill is less than a 1/4 of what I was paying for oil. This past Thursday (30 JAN 13) we had the lovely experience of having a pipe burst that had frozen during a recent deep freeze. The system stopped working but water kept flowing. It took some time before I realized the severity of the situation. The break was in the crawlspace in the master bedroom which is under renovation. I called the 24 hour support number then found water pouring through the garage ceiling, out light fixtures and electric sockets. Scott basso called within 30 minutes and made sure that the water main was off and told us that Steve himself was on his way and would be at our house within 30 minutes. Steve arrived sometime after 11:30 PM. He took the time to assess the situation and inspected the whole system. He quickly came up with a temporary fix that would allow us to have heat and hot water in the half of the house that was unaffected by the flood. Steve Basso Plumbing was easy to reach, came quickly when contacted, fixed the problem, and we have been problem free since. The problem was relatively simple but that does not mean that we could have fixed it ourselves. He also showed us how to avoid this problem in the future.

Basso Plumbing has been doing all of our plumbing and heating work for 5 years and have never failed to provide a solid service value and long-term customer care. Highly recommended.

After contacting Steve Basso Company to inspect my heating system they sent a technician on Friday 8/24/2012. Major problems with the boiler were detected and a meeting with one of the owners was scheduled for the same day. An inspection fee of $90 was paid. Scott came to the house the same day to work up an estimate for replacement. I also asked about replacing our A/C unit. Scott said he would provide an estimate and have it ready by Monday 8/27. No return calls with an estimate. The following week I called Steve Basso Company and left a message for Scott to return my call. No return call. A simple return call stating Basso Co. was not interested in doing the repairs would have been sifficient to avoid this review. Hard to believe a company does not need business in this economy. Thru Angies list I found a very highly rated, competent and responsive company that is replacing both systems in the house next week.

They pride themselves on doing a good job. They are nice people and easy to work with. They did have to come back to fix something that was still not working after they had finished the job. They came right back to correct the problem.

Called them several times. Left messages. Never heard back .... very odd to have a $8,000 problem and not get a business to jump at it. Went with Bell HVAC instead. Great company!!

It was two different people that came out, and I really liked the HVAC guy. He was very thorough and honest and did not seem to be up-selling me anything. He was very inquisitive as to how the system was built, when the house was built, how things worked and everything else. I have no complaints about the quality. The plumbing work was ridiculously high-priced. I would use them again in the future for HVAC.

I needed to get my HVAC inspected to prep for summer and the experience was painless from start to finish. Easy to make an appointment, technician came on time. It turns out that I needed to have one of my dampers replaced and a condenser pump replaced, which required parts to be ordered. He returned for my next appointment with the proper parts on time again. The job was more difficult than originally thought, but the repairman stuck in there to the end. He put covers on his shoes and on the ladders, he cleaned up afterwards, and the job was done right. Will definitely use Steve Basso again in the future.

They were very responsive and timely. They were a bit pricey but given the circumstances i understood. I would use them again an the future.

Plumber arrived on time and assessed toilet repair to be $240.00 which included the $49.00 service fee, which I was not made aware of when I called for service. I called on a Friday and they came on the following Monday which was OK for me. The toilet was not flushing properly but I would fill the tank with water to make it work. When the kid told me how much it would be I couldn't believe it! But of course I would have to pay the $49.00 for the call, and calling another plumber just would have wasted my time. However, I called the office to complain that I was not made aware of the service call fee and I spoke to Steve Basso who deducted that off the bill. You can bet if I had known how much it was just to have them look at the toilet, I would have called someone else. I checked on Angies list and found a review for Steve Basso Plumbing but didn't realize how expensive it would be. Really, the only repair was replacing the flushing device in the tank. I will say he was very reasonable about removing the service call fee.

My gas furnace was about 40 years old, I had no central air, and water heater was 12 years old. I spoke with one of my neighbors, who highly recommended Steve Basso Plumbing Heating A/C (83 Brookfield Avenue, Bridgeport, CT) after interviewing 7 different heating and A/C guys. I went ahead and followed my neighbor's recommendation because I didn't want to go through the hassle of research. I'm glad I did. One of the 2 co-owners Scott Basso came by, explained my options, and gave me a decent quote. The guy was very nice, polite, and professional. Not only that, he actually filled out some state and federal tax rebate forms (on my behalf) so I could get some money back (since I bought the newer high-efficiency models). Because of high demand for the model units that I wanted to install, unfortunately I had to wait a week before installation could happen. After installation, Scott came by to test everything out, showed me how to use the new electronic thermostat. Overall, I paid about $9,000 (including electrical work). This was very pricey but then again, this was a very pricey job. I later found out this was still within the reasonable range that heating and a/c guys pay. I highly recommend this company and Scott Basso to others.

Extremely punctual and efficient people. Will use again for any major plumbing needs. Prices are on the high side, but In my experience, you get what you pay for.

Excellent - good guys - flexible and always professional.

The person came on time for the estimate. It went well. But at the end, he didn't take our email address for sending the estimate and said he would call us back. But he never did, when we called him back, he was either away or on the phone and never returned our calls.

Excellent employees - friendly, efficient, and capable. Responded quickly, but did not stay completely abreast of the situation. Lag time of 10 days between initial installation and completion. To be fair, work was done in early fall, probably at the height of their busy season.

When it comes to hot water heater work, Steve is the guy to use. Now, I did hear he may be retiring soon, but I am not sure. He is great. He has one of those smaller, local companies and he never overcharges. He really knows his stuff too.

They did what I paid them to do; it was a good experience.

The plumber replaced a washer in the valve, but it continued to leak. The water damaged the ceiling of the room one floor below. He returned and over-tightened the valve, forcing us to purchase a replacement. The water caused the sheet rock to weaken and caused $900 of repairs. I had purchased their one-year guarantee, but they did not honor it, and they did not reimburse the damage they caused.

Steve Basso's associates are always friendly and courteous. They arrive on time as indicated when I set up appointment. They are thorough with their work and the problem always gets resolved. For example, I needed a part that they didn't have in stock but got in by the next day but made sure my furnace could function until the next days part arrived. They are very reasonably priced considering other estimates in area.
