The gentleman who performed this work was honest, prompt, efficient, and pleasant. The work was performed quickly and I feel that this company takes customer satisfaction very seriously. I agreed with all of the recommendations of the technician and I would definitely use this company again in the future.

I had a safety issue with my garage door opener and found Academy Overhead Door on Angie's List. Their reviews were great and there was a coupon so I thought I'd try them out. I called them on Monday morning and Shawn came to repair the garage door opener that day. Shawn on time, polite and very informative. He wrote a clear and concise estimate and made recommendations. The estimate was less that I thought it would be and included basic maintenance as well! Shawn completed the work in less than an hour and the garage door opener has never worked better! We bought a coupon for them through Angie's List for door maintenance. When they came out here I told them this was the door and the cable the lifts the door up and down was a little bit off and so it wouldn't open the door all the way. The guy said to me, that's not regular maintenance so we have to charge you extra for that.

I set up an appointment and asked for a prior call to ensure there was not an unpleasant encounter between the techs and my dog. The company set up a time in the early afternoon. I stayed home and waited. Nobody arrived. I found out the techs were running a few hours late and asked what time they would arrive and was told they ran into issues with an earlier appointment but would be there by 4:30 at the latest. I asked for a phone call when they were on their way so I would know they were coming and I could get the dog in. 4:30 came and went, so we had dinner and I figured nobody was coming until sometime close to 6:30 p.m., when our dog sounded the "intruder alert" bark as the guys were driving up our driveway (long driveway; semi-rural area). I got the dog in, welcomed the guys and they went to work evaluating my garage door. I explained that I wanted my spring tension checked and adjusted because I had used reinforcing metal strips to help the garage door not bow across the large opening and wanted to make sure the springs were carrying the load (not the opener). I thought they would just do the tune-up but they came back with a sheet full of suggested replacements, upgrades for rollers, and things they could do. I felt the same as when I am at a car shop for an oil change and the techs want to replace the air filter, wiper blades, cabin filter (even when there is none--that's another story), and change any fluid that isn't the same color as it was out of the bottle. The guys had prices for these services at the ready! I asked what was included in a "tune-up" and declined the other upgrades. The guys were very nice young men. They acted very professionally (other than not apologizing for being so late and giving no notice they were coming). They lubed the rollers and hinges and said they adjusted the force on the garage door opener. I would have preferred they checked and adjusted the spring, but it seemed like when I wasn't going to buy extra stuff, they were done and ready to be gone pronto. (Although it was also very late for them to still be working, so I understand.) The result of their work was a smooth, quiet garage door, but it only lasted a short time. About a month later, the garage door went askew on the track while trying to close, and my sons had to hold it up from falling on our cars while I re-aligned and recabled it. I am not sure if the motor force adjustment was a factor, or if it was due to our admittedly weak door (or a combination of the two). I am just happy I was able to get it working again. Our situation is unique because the original Overhead Door we purchased was not a good door and we are not wanting the expense of a door replacement yet. If you have a good door, I'm sure these guys can do a good job for you. Since my situation is unique, I probably wouldn't have written it up, but Angie keeps telling me to do so! Summary: Good: Nice people at the company & techs, worked well together, fast & friendly. Lube spray works well for a quiet smooth door. Bad 1: It's hard to stay positive when you rearrange your work schedule and get a no show. I understand they had a tough day, but still they shouldn't just show up that late after hours especially without communication and permission in a more rural area. Bad 2: I'm not confident they addressed my primary concern (checking the spring tension to make sure the spring was carrying the load). They said the reinforcement strips I put on the door weren't that heavy and shouldn't cause any issue, but I expected they would actually weigh the door to see if the spring tension was set correctly. Since they had to add more motor force on the closer, I'm thinking the spring should've been adjusted. Questionable: Not sure if they checked the aiming of the electric eye at the bottom of the door which causes intermittent issues for us.

They did a great job explaining what was wrong and what they had to do to fix it. Now works better.

They were good, he was good and I decided to use this company because I got them from the Angies list and if I had the chance I would use them again.

The service providers showed up on time, and quickly and efficiently went about doing the tune-up. During the course of the inspection they found that the rollers were worn and offered to replace them for me. I told them to go ahead and they replaced the rollers on both doors in about a half an hour. There were 2 men doing the work and they were very professional, courteous and friendly. Since their service the garage doors run much more smoothly and very quietly.

There were no additional charges beyond the big deal price. I asked them to come right away. But, somehow they got it mixed up. I was a little bit aggravated. The guy who came out did a good job. But the person who answered the phone said that I canceled it. They gave me an appointment and didn't come out. The excuse was that I canceled it. Why would I cancel it when my garage door wouldn't shut? I did not cancel it. The price was reasonable. That's why I bought it. They've got to work on the people who answer the phone. They need to improve. They were not professional.

I had a problem with the door openers after they had finished the work. They tried to charge me more when they came back and I don't like to argue. We talked about it, agreed on price but I won't use them again. I wouldn't recommend them.

No complaints. They did their job and did it well. I am happy and will use them again next year.

Academy Overhead Door ran a special on a garage door tuneup for $39 per door (we have two garage doors). The technician told us that the rollers all needed to be replaced as well as a hinge. The extra work cost $168. The entire visit cost $241 which was a greater expense than I anticipated. So I was surprised by the overall cost which I thought was high. That said, the garage doors are 15 years old and they do operate much better after the work.

No hard sales. The technician went over everthing with me, pointed out items, etc. and I have enough of an understanding of the mechanics of it that I knew what he was saying to be true.

Was running a little late but called and let us know before time he was due. When he arrived he checked opener and found some parts that needed replacing because of wear. He had what he needed and was done with work in about 45 minutes.

The keypad works well and the installation was placed in an asthetically pleasing location on the outside. Works flawlessly. My only beef is that the door to the keypad is a slide off instead of hinged, suggesting that it is the most basic model but I got all of the above done for $99 so I can't complain about value for the price. Overall I"m very pleased.

Our very large, heavy garage door was beginning to make quite a racket going up and down. Academy Overhead Door came, did a complete 'tune-up' and made the recommendation of purchasing new silicone rollers for the door. The cost was super - $85.00 and what a difference they made! Very nice gentlemen and very helpful and professional. Great company!
