Eliminating brush, cutting trees and removing stumps are necessary to prepare the location in order for your project to go well. Proper site grading provides the foundation not only to the project but to the projects long term value and site drainage.
"Carlo did a good job. We agreed on a price and he was out the next morning ; completing the job in a couple hours. We appreciated his help."

At Mountain X, we take great pride in our excellent workmanship, competitive rates, and the ability to deliver outstanding results. Since our founding, we’ve worked hard toward building and maintaining our reputation as a trusted and reliable source for your dirt work needs. We provide clients with a wide range of services to cover all their needs. Our experience ranges from environmental work under state inspectors, DOT right away work, to engineered dirt work builds on large scale projects. This range of experience has enabled us provide our clients with solid products ready for the test of time.
"We started working with Daniel from MtnX in April of 2022. Our raw land needed to be graded according to the grading plan drawn up by our engineer. We hired MtnX due to his background, experience and expertise. Daniel was able to clearly explain in detail and picture for us, the steps he would take, the materials required, and how he would be able grade our property according to plan. No one else that we interviewed was able to explain the process. He provided a contract and we signed off to begin work. As you can see from the photos, he did a fantastic job! To begin with, he helped us grade the main area where our home will be built. He installed new culverts (as our were rusted and not usable) and two driveways according to plan. He removed two 80'(+) trees that we needed to have taken out. Then he helped us with a grove of 18 smaller trees that needed to be removed for the pad where the future home will sit. These were then transplanted by Daniel around the property. We needed additional assistance with the grading the land for our OWTS (Onsite Wastewater Treatment System) according to permit. He assisted with the leach field and next the trench was dug across the entire length of the property approximately 350' for the septic line to lay from the OWTS to where our second building will be. He helped correctly lower in our HLT system and level it. The county approved our OWTS. Next we needed to grade the upper pad for our second building according to plan and he was able to help with this. When the building materials arrived he was able to help us unload these very heavy steel beams. I'm sure I'm leaving something out but I guess what we want to convey is that Daniel is a hard worker and there isn't anything he really cannot do with the help of his equipment and experience. Expect him to arrive first thing in the morning and leave at dusk. We even had a situation where we needed his help and he did not hesitate to stop what he was doing on a weekend to come help us in the dark! Truly a pleasure to work with. You won't be disappointed and if you ever were, he'd make it right. That's the type of person you want on your job site!"

The average cost of a gravel driveway is about $1.25 to $2 per square foot, including the cost of materials, equipment, and professional installation. For example, a 16-by-30-foot driveway costs about $1,500. Cost factors include the type of gravel, how thick the gravel is installed, the condition of the landscape, and labor costs. Overall costs will vary depending on where you live and how accessible the job site is.
A gravel driveway should be at least 4 to 6 inches deep, depending on the soil it’s installed on. Softer soil that doesn’t drain well should have a deeper gravel driveway. Deeper gravel will mean you spend more on materials and labor, but you’ll get a more stable driveway and avoid damage that needs to be filled or graded flat again.
Because gravel moves, it requires different maintenance than asphalt or concrete. Here are a few maintenance tips for your gravel driveway. Every few years (or as often as needed):
Grade and level your driveway
Rake to fill holes and ruts
Compact any refilled potholes
Remove weeds with herbicide or by hand
Spray it with water to reduce the amount of dust kicked up
Avoid using a snowplow during winter months
A gravel driveway should last for up to 100 years with proper upkeep, which is minimal. Maintaining a gravel driveway includes grading and adding fresh gravel to fill in potholes. Otherwise, a gravel driveway holds up well to all kinds of weather. Plowing in the winter can be challenging and the gravel can develop ruts or potholes that need to be repaired, but the cost and longevity of gravel compared to concrete, asphalt, and pavers makes gravel an economical option, especially for long and/or wide driveways.
