Thank you for the review. It does come as a surprise to us. On 1/25/18 at the time of install, you gave us a 5 star review. We have not been contacted that there has been any problem with the furnace for the past 8 months. One of our managers will be reaching out to you to discuss any problem.

Description of Work: I called Ben Franklin plumbing because I had a leaking garbage disposal. I asked the peson that answered the phone how much a new garbage disposal would be if I needed one. She said the tech would have to tell me in person. Since I was having a party that evening, I went ahead and scheduled the $55 service call. The gentlemen showed up on time and was very friendly. He told me my garbage disposal was rusted through so it would have to be replaced. He quoted me about $500, complete with pictures and pricing guide from his handy-dandy notebook , and my $55 service call would not be applied to the repair. Now tell me that if the service techs carry around this handy dandy notebook complete with pricing, why wasn't the phone receptionist aware of any of the pices as well. Becasue I was already in the $55 service call and no way to recover it, I told him to go ahead and fix it. I'm down in AZ for the winter, so don't have the exact facts in front of me, but I know he did not use an InSinkerator disposal. I have one down here and can appreciate how quiet it is compared to the one that was installed in my house in Loveland, CO, even though he assured me it was a top of the line unit. I am extremely disappointed with the disposal. It is extremley noisy and I don't feel it does a very good job of grinding the garbage. I eat a lot of lemons, and one little lemon seed sounds like it's going to break it. The gentleman offered me a 20% new customer discount, plus I found a Money Mailer for a free service call which they also honored, but I still spent well over $400 for an $80 unit. Th installer said that it is warranteed for 5 years by Benjamin Franklin. He saidt if it breaks, they will come out and replace it for free. Problem is, if it breaks, I would never replace it with the same brand of disposal anyways Also, I never purchase the "extended warranty" on anything but a car or computer - but this is exactly what Ben Franklin plumbing forced me to buy from them. Again - very disappointing, but I was already in the $55.00 service call and having a party that night, so went ahead with the installation. After listening to the piece of garbage run - that's exactly what it should be called. A GARBAGE disposer..and I wish I had not worried about the $55 service call "hook" and gone elsewhere.

Turns out a minor issue with water leaking into our duct system in the basement, appeared major. The key was that the plumber came out asap, and replaced the valve in the bathroom, so that in the future things like that could be caught immediately without having it going into the basement. Not a major plumbing issue, but an issue regardless, with a solution.
Description of Work: We had a minor bathroom flush turn into raining in our basement. The plumber came over promptly, and diagnosed that the water had gone into the duct from the bathroom and was leaking in the ducts that contain our ac/heating in the baeement. He put a shutoff valve in the bathroom, in case it happens again.

We were given a relatively small arrival window when the initial call was made to Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and the plumber arrived right on time. He was a very knowledgeable and professional. He took the time to listen to what had happened that resulted in our call and then went to work. When he discovered the leak was coming from the garbage disposal, he gave us all of our options based on performance and price plus made his recommendation and why. A new disposal was selected and installed on the spot. The unit we wanted was in inventory on his truck. We also had a running toilet which he fixed very quickly. When he inspected the hot water heaters, he discovered that the water pressure coming in to the house was very high (110 psi vs the recommended 75 psi...don't remember the specific numbers but I think this is close to actual). When we had replaced our 2 hot water heaters a year or so ago (by a different plumbing company), the original gas line connectors were reused causing a very small gas leak. Even a small gas leak can't be good so the connectors were quickly replaced. While replacing the connectors, the water company representative came to the house and the plumber worked with him to get the water pressure down to where it is supposed to be. Overall, we couldn't have been more pleased with the plumber, the availability of parts on the plumbers truck and the high quality of work performed. Benjamin Franklin is without question our plumber of choice for all of our future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: The primary reason for the call to Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was a leak under our kitchen sink. We found the leak and had already turned off the water and cleaned up the standing water before the plumber arrived. It was determined that the leak was coming from our 12 year old garbage disposal so we had it replaced. In addition, we had a running toilet and a very small gas leak from the connections to our 2 hot water heaters. The toilet was repaired and the gas line connectors to the water heaters were replaced. It was also determined by the plumber that the water pressure coming in to our house was very high. The water company was contacted and the problem resolved the very same day.

We had a hot water circulating pump that was noisy. They replaced it but it was not any quieter. so they sent out their head guy and he said basically that is the way it is. Well before the old one went out it was quiet and when it failed it got noisy. So it ended up doing was putting in an outlet with a timer on it because it was only noisy at night. I did not mind the noise during the day. They just really did not seem to care. I would tell people to look elsewhere.

Over all ok, but felt I was overcharged. When I tried to talk to someone about it later, did not really get an good answer. The people are independents and the Benjamine Franklin does not control the prices.
Description of Work: Our water heater was leaking when I got home at night. It was after 6pm when I called to have it looked at. The guy came out pretty quick and said he had one on his truck and could replace then. Since it was winter and cold I did not have much choice but to take the one he had without the time to research. After this was replaced, I started looking around and feel I was charged ~$400-500 more than I should have been. Maybe that model was the correct price, but due to being an emergency, I felt he took advantage and did not tell me of other models or prices.

The work they did went well, they were on time, professional, were very careful with my home (the booties)...a very nice, clean cut bunch of guys.
Description of Work: First of all, I had a major plumbing leak/flood in the middle of the night and desperately needed a 24 hour plumber. Ben Franklin was the first emergency plumber I came to in the phone book. So on that score A+++ they got to my home quickly and prevented further damage. BUT... the repairs that were needed, while they did a great job on the actual work, were WAY more expensive than other plumbers. Obviously I didn't have time to get estimates, and I think I misguidedly felt obligated to have them do the rest of the work...that's on me. The other thing that bugs me about them is that their reps are always trying to sell you something...more efficient products, service plans, etc. and make you feel kind of stupid if you don't agree. Oh well...they did great work on replacing the broken toilet, and many old water lines that needed upgrading. But I do wish I had gotten estimates on the rest of the work that was needed.

We had a leaky toilet that we were looking to get repaired. The toilet is original to the house (19 yrs) and had a screw inside the tank that was rusting out and causing the leak. The repair man gave us an estimate for the repair which was in excess of $400. He explained that they would not simply replace the failing part but rather replace all the components of the tank, he called it a tank re-build. We explained that we were looking to replace the toilet within the next year during our bathroom remodel and didn't want to invest that much in our old toilet. We simply just wanted the rusting screw replaced to provide a fix until the toilet came out. They were not willing to provide that service. They would either do the tank re-build for $400+ or replace the tank for $600+. We declined either option and paid the fee for the trip charge and thanked them for their time. We should note that the repairman acknowledged how the company was aware that not offering different levels of service repairs was an issue for the consumer. He said they were looking into changes in this area, however that was of little assistance to us at the time. We do not know what they offer at this time. They were very professional and very prompt. Unfortunately, they were unwilling to accommodate our needs and offered us only highly priced options as solutions for our problem. Due to that, we will be inclined to seek other plumbing professionals when our next need arises.

I have given this company (or at least this company at the Harmony Rd, Fort Collins location) a high rating because all of the employees were consistent in the way they managed themselves, with an emphasis on customer focus. They had good structure for doing estimations, could explain alternatives clearly, were punctual, and did not act hurried. On installation day, they were punctual, and they made sure I was trained. They all seem to have high sales skills...they DID look for opportunities to make a sale on other aspects of plumbing, but I felt it was done in a nonaggressive way....they might have pointed out that such-and-such is an older model and would describe a newer age model, but I never felt I was ramroded....they were trained to be customer focused. On the water heater and the other repairs, they were all done correctly in a timely matter and there is a free maintenance program...in terms of a free yearly check. ....The only thing I did not score excellent was price, because services and cost of parts seemed average....I did not feel they were gouging me, but I did not really feel it was cheap. But plumbers in general are not cheap. I just felt that I had better customer service with this company and a better attitude toward my needs than I have with other plumbing or HVAC businesses I had hired in the past. So I would recommend them on the basis of how they dealt with me. You will have to decide if their prices are ok for you.
Description of Work: On this occasion, a new hot water heater was installed. I had planned for the installation before old one went bad, so it was a controlled situation vs. a repair or responding to an emergency. And then somewhat near this episode same company came out to do a toilet repair.

Went fine - I was told the pricing up front including a steep service charge of $49. We are leaving town for awhile and needed the toilet fixed for our housesitter so I went ahead. Basically the price per hour boiled down to over $190 since it only took less than 15 min work. Courteous and professional but there flat fees are not cost effective. I have used them in the past but next time will not.

Service call started with service tech telling me I needed a new water heater. When it became obvious I wasn't going to buy one, he thought maybe he could get mine to go a while longer. I authorized the installation of a new anode rod, two valves and a flush. When he wrote up the bill it was over $600! I balked at paying that much, and he then wrote it for $500, which I paid, but only under severe protest. The parts, even with an exorbitant markup were under $200, leaving an installation rate of $150/hr, a good deal of which was spent getting me to buy more parts and services. I know that running a company isn't cheap, but this is outright gouging.
