Very well.
Description of Work: We had some crazy old wiring in our house that once upon a time supported Cable TV. However, about a decade ago we switched to ATT and would have stayed with them but the internet speeds were awful and the price kept climbing. Once we decided to switch back to cable, we learned that our cable was out of date. We called several wiring companies, but only Ken Lacewell followed up. He was thoroughly professional, informed us about everything he did, and made sure we were satisfied with the work. We haven't yet hooked up the cable (getting Comcast to come out will be our next challenge), but I was thoroughly impressed with him and his responsiveness.

Description of Work: Really disappointing. Had him come to check two issues. The primary was a problem with my doorbell wiring. The secondary issue was a problem with my phone. | |For the phone, shame on me but there really wasn't an issue. I just needed to call Comcast and have the modem reprovisioned. Should have done that first so no fault of provider that he didn't have anything to fix. | |For the doorbell, upon arrival, he said it wasn't really his thing but he would try. Tested some wires, suggested that I replace the transformer. He said, he would do it but he didn't have any of the tools or parts and asked me if I had a spare one. I replaced the transformer and it still doesn't work. | |Basically, I payed for an $80 visit to have nothing really done. I guess its my fault but frustrating none the less.

Ken was quick to respond, clear in his estimate, on time to do work. He investigated several options to choose the one the least intrusive to my walls/floors, and did not charge for the time spent investigating. After deciding what to do, he did the work very professionally , with high quality.

I advised my customer that the Samsung's headphone port was damaged, and it would need to be taken to a television repair shop to work properly. When I left, the wireless headphones on the Sony were working.

He was great. He was on time. He was courteous. He went above and beyond like he was great. I would use him again on a heartbeat. He showed us what options we'd have in the future if we wanted to like relocate to a couple of different areas so he gave us like plans for the future too so that was awesome. The price was exactly what he quoted. He worked longer than what his quote was for time-wise. He's an A across the board.

I first called Ken and we discussed all the viable options for the installation of the rooftop antenna. Ken was very knowledgeable about this subject and he covered all the important questions before visiting my home: Antenna line of sight, location (attic or rooftop), equipment, etc. We initially discussed placing the antenna in the attic space, but both agreed the rooftop was the best installation location due to my neighbor's monstrously peaked roof potentially interfering with the antenna line of sight. As I live in East Dundee, the nearest broadcast towers were 40 miles away from my home so signal strength was always a concern. I informed Ken that I had already purchased my own antenna and mounting tripod and he was happy to work with this equipment once he verified it was suitable. Ken was prompt and arrived at the agreed upon time. He did a quick survey of the roof so as to determine the safest route up as my roof is somewhat steep as well. Before drilling any holes in the roof, he made his way into the attic below the installation location to measure the rafter width (my rafters were not spaced in a standard or consistent fashion). Once he finished measuring in the poorly ventilated humidity chamber known as my attic, he proceeded up the ladder with the tripod and tools. I didn't verify the work up on the roof, but from the ground level it appeared straight and Ken gave the tripod a shake saying "this isn't going anywhere". Antenna goes up, cables get run to the antenna... somewhere during this process grey clouds appear and it starts to rain lightly. With no thunder or lightning present, Ken sticks it out a bit longer, finishes the job, and managed his way down the slippery-looking wet roof effortlessly. The guy is a pro and you can tell by talking to him and his workmanship that this wasn't his first rodeo. He grounded the antenna with a big copper wire and fished the antenna into my house. There was little interior wiring to do in the house since I already have coax run to every room. The antenna is hooked up to only one TV (that's just how we roll) and was the positioning of the antenna was perfectly, spot on, nailed on the first attempt. For those looking to have an antenna installed for OTA broadcast, here is the number one test: Does Channel 2 (CBS) come in? What is the signal strength? For me, my TV signal meter bounces between 92% and 99% ... all my other channels (NBC, ABC, WGN, FOX etc...) come in with 100% signal strength with a picture quality that puts u-verse to shame. Let me emphasize this again, Ken installed the antenna on the roof... ran the cables... came back down... and did NOT need to go back up for another adjustment for a better signal. I now get 62 digital HDTV broadcast channels and 3 analog stations I will likely never see. This guy knows his stuff and I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again for another antenna install or wiring job. Thanks again!

I c.alled on a Wednesday and left a message. Ken returned the call on Thursday morning and I explained the problem and the additional "clean up" work that I wanted him to look at. He asked how soon I needed him to come to the house and I suggested the following week - we agreed on Tuesday morning. Ken would have tried to come earlier but I said this was not an emergency (we had phone service working on our first floor) and five days out would be fine. He said he would be at our home at about 10 am - and he was. I walked Ken through the house and pointed out the phone wiring I was familiar with and also pointed out the jacks that were not working. Ken said he felt sure he could fix the problem and he gave me a quote - it should take not more than two hours and his fee is $70.00 an hour. He went right to work. In about 1-1/4 hours he had the initial problem corrected. I asked Ken to stay longer and clean up the low voltage wiring in the basement. He did - actually working about another i-1/2 hours - but he charged us for the two hours he quoted. We are very pleased with Ken and his knowledge. If we again have a low voltage wiring problem - cable TV, TV antenna, computer network/cabling or telephone issues, Ken will absolutely be our first phone call.
Description of Work: We had four dead telephone jacks in bedrooms on the second floor. None had a dial tone. We also had come related low voltage wiring in the basement that needed "clean up".
