Greystone Electric Co

We had quotes from 3 different companies. Greystone's was in the middle, far cheaper than the highest quote, and a little over the lowest quote (which was obtained by the seller of the house, from an unlicensed electrician). From the beginning, Doug was extremely honest and straightforward, explained everything very clearly, and he never tried to sell us anything we didn't need. We had a list of issues the inspector had found when we were buying the house, and Doug went over every item with me, explaining each one. He even recommended against fixing a couple of the items, as he said he didn't think they were necessary or cost-effective. He scheduled the work very soon, at a convenient time for us. His partner and another employee showed up right on time. A little after starting work, they discovered that there was a wiring hazard that the utility company needed to fix, and so they couldn't continue that day. Doug arrived almost immediately and contacted the utility company. He made sure they came and fixed the problem that same day, and we rescheduled the work. The guys turned up right on time again, and they were very polite, friendly, careful and clean. They spent a whole day working, and had to schedule another half-day to finish (Doug had warned that this might be necessary). At all times, they were very considerate of our schedules and comfort (they were even careful not to let our cats run out when they went in and out of the house!). They installed a security-light, which stopped working the next day. When I called, Doug scheduled a visit that same week, and they replaced the light with a better brand. The final price was exactly as quoted, even though they spent a lot more time than originally estimated, because of the utility company delay, and the return visits. Everything is now working perfectly, and we feel secure knowing that our wiring is safe. I recommend Greystone without any hesitation, and will call them again if I ever need more electrical work.

We lost our electricity and they were able to come out and get it started. They went to my house and did the job for me immediately because it was an emergency.

I called Doug at approx. 1215 and he was very responsive and nice. I liked that I was able to contact him directly instead of having to go through a snotty receptionist. He said that he would have Greg give me a call when he could come over, either later that day or the next. Greg did call, at about 1.45 and asked what time would be OK; we agreed on 2:15 - 2:30. He arrived on-time at about 2:25 and he and his assistant Tony performed the services described above. They were exceedingly professional, talkative but not chatty, and more than willing to explain what was happening. They fixed everything and cleaned up after themselves. The work was completed in approx. one and a half hours.

Doug scheduled to get me in the next day (he would have sent someone that day but my schedule prevented that). When the guys were running behind about 1/2 hour, Doug called in advance to let me know and apologize. The guys came, were very professional. They found the problem and fixed it.

They were quick to respond to my call and set up an estimate. He arrived and said he couldn't really estimate what I wanted to do w/o me picking out lighting but thought the labor alone would be over $800! He was supposed to email me a list of lighting products to choose from but I never heard from him again. I'm not sure if he just didn't want to do it or what, but regardless, I felt like it was a bit of a ripoff. And maybe that's just my naivet about the work involved, but the wiring was already there, it just needed to be run into some new lights/transformers. And even if he lost my email or something, he had my phone number and could have called me back.

Over the course of the next few weeks I called and emailed multiple times to set up a return appointment for that new GFI and ceiling fans to be installed but have never received a response.

Great! My sister was having trouble with an outside electrical outlet that kept tripping (it was the connection for her satellite dish, computers, etc.), so she had no service. I first tried another company, but their technician was unable to make a service call before the holiday, but they recommended Greystone. I called on the Friday before Labor Day & they were able to come out early Saturday morning. The technician arrived a few minutes early & checked the outlet. There was a loose wire causing it to trip; he replaced the outlet & added a weatherproof plastic box cover. Since he had some time left (the minimum service charge is for one hour), he checked a few interior outlets for her as well. One in the garage was causing the wall get hot, so he checked the wall wiring (it was fine), and changed that outlet as well. He took the time to explain everything to my sister in laymen's terms and she was thrilled!

It was a great experience!. They were a little late for the initial appointment, but when I called, Doug was very apologetic, and then came out right away. He explained that they had just started a new computer scheduling process, which resulted in my appointment being missed [He was very sincere, and I believe this is what happened]. He then gave me a significant discount on the price, more than I feel was even necessary. The electricians from Greystone worked very hard to figure out the source of my problem, and to restore my power. I am very grateful, and was astonished at how reasonable the price was. They were also very professional and friendly. I would definitely use them again!

Breaker was tripping in my fuse box. They came out the same day, troubleshot and replaced the defective breaker.

They did a great job. They were timely and responsive, and they did the work right. The workers were also courteous. The price they charged seemed fair to me.

They were outstanding, the guy was excellent, they were on time and professional. He was very punctual, he was very honest. He was telling me other alternatives.

Doug was prompt, came on a Saturday within an hour of being called, went out in a cold rainstorm and properly checked all the fuse boxes. He correctly identified the source/location of the problem and then stayed with the IREA agent to make sure that the problem was fixed. Doug did a great job of translating the problem to the IREA agent so that the IREA agent was sure where the problem occured. The IREA agent couldn't walk away from this problem without fully checking it out. I will always use this company in the future. Doug was great!

Two contractors came, neither being the one I was told would come. They were on time. They did not introduce themselves by name to myself or to my husband when he came home while they were here. They emailed me the estimate more than one week after they were here. By that time, I had already completed the work with another contractor.

We called and received an appointment within 48 hours. We were not sure if the light fixture was malfunctioning due to the outlet itself, or if we had purchased florescent bulbs that were incorrect. Once our technician arrived a thorough inspection was done and it was determined that the housing that the florescent bulbs were encased in was bent causing the bulbs to not sit properly, causing poor electrical contact. The kitchen light was restored quickly and promptly, he even went out and purchased the additional light bulbs needed for the outlet all within one hour.

I liked everything about this company and I will use them again.

They returned my call on a Saturday. I didn't expect to hear back from them until Monday. They were precisely on time and were very thorough. They'll be my electricians from now on.

They have made three service calls. The work has been done very well. Doug is the primary contact who is supposed to be calling back and scheduling, but sometimes he has a tendency to not call back. Other than that I find the quality of their work excellent. The actual proprietor is very knowledgeable and skilled.

Overall, it was a very good experience. He showed up a day early for the estimate but offered to come back when he realized he had the date wrong. I went ahead with the estimate as I was home. He spent as much time with me as I needed and thoroughly answered all my questions. They were on time to do the work. We have not detected any problems with the work and it passed Denver city inspection on the first try. We had about six to eight phone and e-mail conversations related to the work. Each time, all of my questions were answered and I never felt rushed. One message I left went unreturned for a few days. I called again and they quickly responded. The original estimate quoted was the price we paid plus they gave us the 10% of Angie's list coupon for payments in cash. We paid with a check as it was a large sum. I would definitely hire this company again and recommend them to anyone.

I guess I'm surprised that an apparently knowledgable electrician didn't know the characteristics associated with a breaker. Either that or they just want their trip charge.

I had to call at the last minute and inform Doug that I needed a 3 way dimmer for my dining room. I also asked for installation of an additional dimmer, which he was able to obtain the morning of the visit. It turned out that I did not need to replace the dimmer in my dining room, but that was no problem to make the last minute switch. Doug even made an adjustment in a ceiling fan that I had installed previously and did not charge me for it. They honored the 10% discount even though I did not have exact change in cash and had to pay by check.

Once again, we had a minor problem with our lighting system and called Greystone who came over within a day. They fixed the problem quickly and charged us the minimum amount. They also gave us a quote on running some electrical lines. This is the second time we have called them to help us out with something we probably should have been able to fix ourselves. But they always have been very courteous and helpful and charged the minimum amount. We certainly will call them again in the future, hopefully for a "real" electrical job!!

I called last week for electrical repair of an outlet and was told that I would be called back. There was some sort of follow-up slip up but Doug called to confirm that I'd been contacted a few days later. When I told him I hadn't, he was extremely apologetic and scheduled with me then and there. He showed up himself at the appointed time and did a great job.

Went well. They showed up when they said they would, brought the materials they needed, finished and cleaned up well. They came back as promised to finish a small item that they needed special material for. They made suggestions for the situation and were very helpful.

We had a problem with the power to our new electric cook top. I found Doug on Angie's List and called. He returned my call immediately and showed up exactly on time early the next day. He located the problem and repaired it quickly. He very clearly explained the problem and the repairs made. He price was very reasonable. What I really liked was how he warned me over the phone not to use the cook top because it sounded like it might be a short and could cause a fire. Great work at a fair price!

Greystone was great. They returned all phone calls promptly, met me at the condo complex on time to perform the estimate, returned the estimate to me in a timely manner, and, once we scheduled the work, Greystone had the work finished before I even realized they had started. They met their cost estimate and even cleaned up after themselves once they were finished.
