Scott's Roofing

They were very nice over the phone. I told the woman on the phone of my needs and they set an appointment. Gary was the one that came out to assess the work. He offered to write up an estimate for both class 4 and class 5 shingles, which I appreciated. After the appointment, I never received the estimates in the mail and never heard anything back from them. I also specified that the mailing address and physical address are not the same and that I have a P.O. Box, and never received anything.

I had seen an ad for Scott's Roofing in the Angie's list booklet, and a couple of other ads with coupons. I went to Angie's list to look at several companies' reviews. I saw that Scott's Roofing had a couple of "F" ratings, but also noticed that they had numerous "A" ratings. I called to make sure that they would service the Aurora area, where my rental is located, and was told yes. I go an appointment within days, and I met the owner Gary Nickell at the property. Part of the reason I selected them, was because I wanted to support a smaller business, AND I liked the fact that Gary had been in the insurance industry, and could help with the claim process. I was concerned that because the roof on the house was older, that I would end up with a small amount of money from the insurance company, and have to pay a larger amount out of my pocket. They also had a special for Angie's list members. I had an appt. within days of my initial call, and Gary confirmed that the roof had hail damage, and told me what I needed to do next. One of Gary's employee's met the insurance adjuster at the house. Once I had the insurance adjuster's report, I sent it to Gary, and he pretty much handled the "negotiation" of the claim from that point forward. Within 2 weeks of the initial contact with Scott's Roofing I had the roof replaced. During the process, he kept me informed so that I could notify the tenant about the work etc. They had a discount at the time for Angie's list members, so my only out of pocket expense was my deductible. The roof looks great. I had 2 checks from the insurance company for the roof. I have had nothing but EXCELLENT service from Scott's Roofing. I recalled the "F" reviews, and had them in the back of my mind when dealing with Scott's Roofing, and was surprised that my experience was quite the opposite. I ALWAYS got a call back in a timely manner. In talking to Gary about recent hailstorms, in the Yuma, CO. area, he had been sent out there by insurance companies, and he mentioned to me that there are companies who are "storm chasers" and show up after a hail storm, and are usually located out of state. The other "F" review also mentioned Scott's Roofing did "cold" calls, and I wonder if there was another company by the same name, as when I spoke to Gary, about the recent hailstorms he was pretty emphatic about not resorting to cold calls and storm chasing. This was an unsolicited conversation. This is a local company, and they did a great job on the roof. The roof has a 5 year warranty as well. I am very happy and I would recommend Scott's Roofing.

It didn't go because Scott's Roofing did not show up as scheduled. If they can't handle the little things, I sure won't trust then with any big things.

One year later I am still dealing with Scott's Roofing on problems they caused and the communication and service is worthless. About 2 months after the roof was first replaced we had water coming into our upstairs bathroom during a heavy rainstorm. The water was coming in around the skylight where the roofing crew put a hole in the skylight flashing when they scraped off the shingles during roof replacement. You would think the largest entry point for water would receive special attention during roof replacement but it was an epic fail by the roofing crew. A guy showed up two days later, found the hole, and sealed ot with silicone caulk. The bathroom ceiling required drywall repair, complete re-texturing, and repainting. Communication from Gary Nickel about covering the damage was non-existent even though I left voice mails on his cell phone and sent at least two e-mails. Eventually I made contact with his secretary and told her to let me know if they planned to cover the damage and she said she had just received approval to cut me a check. I'm sure they were hoping I would give up and go away. I did get a check for $500 two days later. Now I have a strip of shingles ripped off the nails and peeled back by the wind near the peak of my roof. It is a simple repair that I will make myself since Gary Nickel refuses to communicate with me after I have left several e-mails and voice mails. There are a lot of good roofing companies around so go find one that will do the job right the first time and one that will give you good warranty service. You should not have any negative energy in your life after laying out $10,000 for a new roof. You should expect and receive good communication and speedy follow-up repairs when you need them. I will never recommend Scott:s Roofing or use them in the future.

I called Scott's for an estimate and Gary, the owner of the company was at my house within an hour. He was very polite and informative. Replacement went great. The Scott's roofing crew were polite and efficient.

Scott's Roofing is an honest, reliable, and excellent company. After talking with a few other roofing companies, I contacted Scott's Roofing for an estimate. I appreciated their honesty about the process and products we were considering. We decided to have them do the work. Everything went well. They always responded to questions we had, and they were willing to work with us along the way. The install was great, and the workers did a nice job cleaning up. The roof looks amazing! We would definitely recommend Scott's Roofing.

We had hail damage in June . I called scotts roofing and they took care of the job with calm and confidence. I have solar panels and they dealt with the solar company and insurance company to make cost adjustments. The roof inspector commented on what a good job the roofers did. i would recommend Scott's roofing to any one.

Called and scheduled an appointment for the following day... No one showed up and No one called. Finding that a lot of colorado contractors do business like this... must be nice that a company has so much work that can just blow off potential customers...

I felt I got someone who knew what needed to be done and took the time to show and tell why. The shingles arrived on time as did the roofers the following work day, Two layers of old shingles removed. The cleanup was excellent; ground and gutters. Job was done in the time promise. I thought the job was professionally done , with additions done missed in the past. This included five additional vents, and metal roof edging. Extra shingles were left for possible future problems. The cost was as contracted, with the roofing company picking up the $53:00 cost of having the dish relined on roof. The cost was below what I had expected.

Gary was very helpful and took a hand's on approach to help me communicate with my insurance company and mortgage company. It took 5 days for my insurance appraiser to come out and another 5 days to have the first check in my hand. And four days later I had a roof in one day and a fence power-washed and re-stained.

On June 5th, 2015 a hail storm took out 70% of my neighbor's homes roofs as well as my own. I have been a realtor for 16 + years and Gary Nickell, the owner, has taken care of many of my seller's roofs that didn't pass home inspectors and appraiser's reports. My seller's have always told me what a great job and how fair his prices were. I, for the first time, got to experience this for myself. I have four dogs and a home real estate office. I truly appreciate that the job was done in one day, the workers were very professional and worked with me on potty breaks for my dogs! I had no idea how things work with getting a roof replaced through insurance and he was able to take care of all of it. In fact, the only other calls I received from the insurance company were to let me know about additional checks being mailed. It took a while to get things scheduled as we started the process in November. However, once the weather was warmer, we were in constant contact with trying to find the ideal time frame of 4 good weather days in a row. Once we had that time frame, the roof was completed in a day and looks really good. After the replacement, the satellite would not find signal. I called Gary at 8:00pm and he answered. When I told him the problem, he immediately told me to call the company to come out and that he would pay the service charge. That was refreshing to say the least. I have only found a few pieces of leftover ?trash? and only one nail, which was in the rocks and hard to see. Overall, the process took a while, but that was due to weather and the fact that the roof was not leaking. I have FULL CONFIDENCE that had I needed the work done right away, it would have been. I was also glad that the deductible was not due until the final insurance check was delivered. That helped me plan and save so that it didn?t drain my account. Gary is also going to start working on my parents? house next and I will call him again should I need any roof work done. As I stated in the beginning, I highly recommend Scott?s Roofing and Gary. It was a pleasure to work with someone and have confidence that I was not going to get the cheated or get sub-par performance. It was also nice to support a smaller, local company.

After the insurance company paid the claim, Gary said they had missed a lot of items and he worked with them to obtain additional funds. This was important because I had an actual cash value policy which meant my claim was paid minus depreciation and this amounted to about $4000. So, every little bit I could get back from the insurance company really helped. Without Gary I would have just called it good after the first payment. As it turns out, I have a third payment coming! This is all thanks to Gary and his experience in the insurance business. By the way, I had Liberty Mutual and I thought they were great. After the insurance was out of the way, everything else went just as smooth. The job was completed in one day in excellent fashion by a very good crew of 6 men. They did a good job covering up my plants, patio, sidewalks, etc. and when they were done, they cleaned everything up nicely. I did a lot of research on what goes into a quality roofing job and as I watched them all day, I could see they were doing the job right. Their attention to detail was fantastic. The main thing I liked about dealing with Gary was the amount of time he spent with me everytime we met. There were no unanswered questions and no misunderstandings about what was going to be provided, and what the cost was going to be. The communication was fantastic and we were fighting a rainy spring trying to work the job in. Gary never tried to schedule the job on a day that was questionable and as it turned out the job was done on a beautiful day. I was happy with all the bids I got from other companies, all highly rated on Angie's List, but Gary was the only one who told me he thought I could prevail with the insurance company and he was right. After that, I felt I had to give him the job and I'm glad I did. The best thing of all is that I never thought I was going to have to fight with Gary to get what he promised or argue over the slightest detail and that is worth gold when dealing with contractors. In summary, get 4 bids from good companies and make sure Scott's Roofing is one of them. Know what goes into a good roofing job before you talk to roofers. Gary the owner made the first visit and recommended that we make a claim. He showed up when the insurance visited for an inspection. He was very accommodating in this part of the process. When we received notice that our roof was to be replaced. He promptly provided a quote which essentially said he would handle the claims process with the insurance company. He was able to schedule a crew within two weeks which was perfect and much better than what the other contractors could do. He was very good at explaining the materials being used and the sourcing. He also was very compliant with my needs. He was late by 2 days on installation. He stayed in touch and made it a minor inconvenience to us. The crew that did the roof was excellent and courteous. They did a good job of cleanup which is a major thing with a roofing project. It looks like the quality of the install was excellent. The key to Scotts is the owner. He is very concerned with the result for the customer and from my experience he is a man of his word. The whole process of replacing our roof could not have gone better. I called my insurance agent to report the possibility of roof damage from a recent storm. They sent an adjuster who confirmed we needed a new roof. I didn't know where to begin so inquired again with my insurance agent. They recommended Scott's Roofing since several of their other clients had used Scott's and were extremely satisfied. Thus, we called Scott's Roofing. Scott's met with us, reviewed the damage, showed us selections of shingles to match our home, discussed warranties, costs estimates and options for scheduling the work around our work schedules. He and his team were always prompt and he even called once when he thought he would be 5 minutes late because of traffic. They did the work in two days from start to finish as scheduled and conducted the most thorough clean up we could have ever imagined. We were so pleased with Scott's Roofing that we used them for my mother's house who needed a new roof from the same storm.
