Description of Work: My wife and I hired Sundeck Designs to build a deck and pergola at our house. I have to say the initial communications were a bit lacking in the time frame of returned emails and phone messages, mainly emails. Once we received our final design and bid for the job it went very smoothly. The crew consisting of Shane, Ryan, Jason and Kyle were awesome. They worked very hard in very bad ,cold conditions. They respected our property and cleaned the job site daily at the end of shift. The attention to detail is very evident in the final product. I have received several great comments and have handed out Sundeck business cards to several people. I would highly recommend hiring this company for a deck or pergola project. They use high quality products and materials. We had a hand full of small issues at the end in which were taken care of very promptly. I would hire these folks again in a heartbeat. Description of Work: We joined Angie's list because we needed to replace our deck and had no idea who to call. We read reviews, contacted several contractors and chose Sundeck. We are very, very happy we did. John and Laura were great to work with. They came by, looked at our old deck, gave us some suggestions and ideas right on the spot, took a couple of photos and explained it might take a bit to get back to us with options as it was the busiest part of the season for them. We were not in a rush, in fact even told them we would be happy to wait until fall to have the work done since we had a lot going on over the summer. They sent drawings of a couple of options, might have been a week later, along with the estimate detailing what each would cost item by item. They suggested a pergola with a built in shade as our deck gets a lot of afternoon/late afternoon sun, benches instead of railings to give us more seating options, and some soft lights under the benches and on the two stairs. Since the costs were on the estimate we knew how much to deduct if we didn't want something. We did it all, and we are glad we did! The deck looks great! Everyone who has seen it has told us how nice it is, the lighting really adds to it, we like having the benches and they moved the stairs from the center to the side and gave us a better traffic flow. The crew is fantastic, they were on time, considerate, cleaned up daily, could not have asked for a better group of guys. John worked right along side them, not all day every day but he was here every day, Laura was working with them a couple of days. We highly recommend Sundeck Designs, this is a busy company because they do high quality work at a fair price. I read a couple of reviews that John didn't get back to them fast enough so they didn't hire him. Well, I didn't hear from him right away, but I really wanted to him to stop by as he had so many positive A reviews. I called again, he got back to me right away and apologized for the delay. This is not a cookie cutter deck company, John and Laura design each deck themselves, they have crews they know, and they are well worth waiting for, their schedule is always full but they are willing to work with you. I don't remember how many contractors I called who never got back to me, a couple who came by and looked at our deck never sent an estimate, one sent an estimate that was rebuilding exactly what we had even tho' we had said we didn't want to replace one area and there were no drawings, no separation of charges just a one line dollar amount. Honestly cannot compliment these folks enough, we really like our new deck, we really liked working with John, Laura and their crew.

Description of Work: Looking for a roof to be built over deck. John and his wife did show up and take measurements and pictures. Never got a call back from them. Called 3 times to get the estimate. No response. Received e-mail last week, saying that my bid literally fell through the cracks and that they were sorry. I don't know how that happened since I called them 3 times and spoke to them personally twice. In the email, I told them to submit the estimate. No response.

Description of Work: Built a new deck

Description of Work: Tore down a hideous metal awning structure and replaced it with a beautiful 12' x 20' deck with two sets of steps.

Description of Work: Sundeck Designs shoveled snow, cut down a tree, built a 14 x 24 deck with benches, steps, planter box and privacy screen. Lighting was added to the steps, under the benches and on the privacy screen. They painted the facia to match the house and they used lattice for the privacy screen and around the base of the deck. The lattice was stained in a complimentary color to match the decking material.

Description of Work: We are relatively new to the area and we noticed that Sundeck has very good ratings on Angie's List, so we gave them a try. John and Laura came out to our house to look at the site and show us some material samples. We reached agreement on the size and materials, and a few days later they provided an estimate, which was in the range that we expected. After accepting the proposal, we requested a modification to assure that our sprinkler system valve box would be accessible. This caused a slight increase in cost due to additional labor and materials. We were expecting this, so there was no problem with it. John and Laura had an opening in their schedule about that time, so they were able to get started right away. There was a little weather issue one day when it snowed, but that didn't stop them. They finished the project in about two weeks, which was the length of time they originally said it would take. The deck looks great and we are now enjoying it.

Description of Work: We were in need of a repair to our 20+ year old deck. Sundeck Designs were very responsive in getting out to give us options and an estimate. Once we agreed on the work to be performed, they started the project almost immediately. Fixing our structural problem with a good solution at a very reasonable cost.

Description of Work: John and Laura recently reconstructed a 30+ year old crumbling deck (8x12?) off of our master suite for us.

Description of Work: 14' x 20' composite deck with 5x5 spa cutout; two stairways, 15' bench and 4' flower box painted to match the house.

Description of Work: Sundeck Designs constructed a 16x10 freestanding redwood deck to replace an existing, 25-year-old, failing deck that had been improperly attached to the house. Work included design of the new deck, permitting, demolition of the old deck, new piers, and installation of the new framing, decking, railing and stairs.

Description of Work: We had an old wooden deck replaced with a much larger composite deck (TimberTech - 675 sq. ft.). The deck is seven feet off the ground. We added a pergola over part of the deck and had a Shadetree cover system installed to add shade to the deck.

Description of Work: Removed existing deck, designed and built a new, larger one.

Description of Work: John removed the existing 8'X16' deck. He then constructed a new substructure of pressure treated wood for a cantilevered 10'X16' deck. He installed Evergrain composite decking on the deck floor and stair treads. H also installed Evergrain railing with Fortress Iron balusters on the deck and stairs.The outside joists, header joist, and stringers were faced with fiber board and painted to match the house. New post anchors were installed. And an additional post was added to support the increased weight of the deck.

Description of Work: Existing deck on house was removed. New expanded deck was installed. Brazilian Redwood decking was installed with a metal railing system. A topcap with the redwood was installed on the rail and stairway handrail. John pre-oiled the decking prior to installation. He used an underside bracket system so that there are no screws on the deck surface. New footings and stairs to the patio below was built. The substructure is probably overbuilt. I think you could park a tank on this deck.
