Description of Work: he built us 3 decks around our house. Great work and he was always on time if not we got a text message with where he was and when he would be there. Stayed each night until well past dark to get it done.

Description of Work: They agreed to paint the upper floor of our exterior house, in stages, because my husband agreed to this. There were several delays over the time, and it ended up taking about 5-6 months, which was ok with my husband, as they had agreed to do it for the Angie's deal. There was also a delay on our part, as the paint we picked out was too bright, and a day was lost in the beginning as we had to go get the paint toned down! All in all, they did what they had agreed to do, and did it fairly well. They always cleaned up their messes before they left, and were courteous when working!

Description of Work: They removed two non-load bearing walls and made my ceiling a single height rather than three different heights. They also made a built in pantry. They did excellent work. I am amazed at the transformation of my kitchen/living room. Craig was an great person to work with and kept me constantly updated on progress.

Description of Work: Work went well. However, at the time, the owner had just lost a carpenter and did not have support for larger jobs.

Description of Work: The owner of Solid Rock Custom Carpentry (Craig Olson) did nothing but waste hours of my time from the first minute I paid for this "deal". It started badly, as I had to write a 2nd time after he didn't respond to my initial communications. After that there was a long continued series of excuses and same day cancellations and rescheduling. This began in mid/late Feb. It's now June and he leaves a voice message today less than an hour before he's promised to finally come and do the work, it's ANOTHER last minute cancellation (grrrr). This is yet another wasted day that I scheduled around Craig Olson's broken promises. Today's message said his earliest possible reschedule date is now July 8, which is more than another month away, and FIVE MONTHS from when I initially bought this "deal". Meanwhile this guy has the nerve run his 'deal' once again on Angies List. Pssst, Craig... TAKE CARE OF YOUR EXISTING CUSTOMERS FIRST, especially so when you've already taken money from them. I'd like to charge you for all my wasted time, it's worth far more than the work you were supposed to perform. I've been pleasant and patient throughout. Craig seems willing to take advantage of this and continues to bump me to the back of the list. He sounds sincere, but he acts otherwise and I'm just not buying it any more. Craig's email's contain a scripture quote: "Through GOD'S Gift, Being the Hands of Others". Considering the circumstances I find this to be offensively pandering. If you're going to "talk the talk" then you need to "walk the walk". Playing a HOLLOW "Christian Card" is hypocritical and manipulative... It's just plain wrong, and it is why I rated "Solid Rock Custom Excuses" with an F instead of a fairly generous D.

Description of Work: Not well. Craig is hard worker but needs more experience with painting and communication. Clean up was insufficient. Job took 3 days longer than expected. Color scheme in some areas not what I ordered. was at house until 11 p.m. on one occasion and did not have two people on the job the whole time. Underestimated cost of materials and expected me to pay.

Description of Work: Craig installed stair railing. We had a few problems with scheduling, but the finished work is beautiful and I am very satisfied.

Description of Work: I purchased a special $399 painting package through Angie's list but have only heard from Craig once. That contact was ten days ago and he has not responded to my latest email. That led me to look at reviews here. It appears this is a pattern. I am doing a major remodel and do not have time to chase down someone who has a habit of being difficult to reach and may never show up for the contracted work. Will now try to get my money back, but am writing this as a warning to other prospective customers and will inquire of Angie's List why they are cooperating with this sort of contractor. Not what I had expected from the Angie's List name nor from a contractor who goes out of his way to claim God's name in his business.

Description of Work: Provided a quote for demo of a Kitchen, bathroom and a couple of walls and rebuilding of a couple of walls. Also included the addition of a window and a front door with awning. This was not for an addition or for any finish work (i.e. walls were to be finished but not the bathroom, kitchen or any floors.
