Tore it out and had a large gaping hole in the ceiling to the attic in January. Called and talked to his scheduler, met Craig later that week for a bid. Before he could come out we ripped out a bathroom door. Added a pocket door, with more dry wall to be repaired and replace. So this job was bigger than I had originally told him. Criag was not worried. We scheduled the repair with him on the spot. Asked him about a third area while he at our house. He suggested I finish it with rock to match the garden room walls not drywall. (Yes, he was so right. His suggestion it looks amazing.) Took two about two visits to do the many drywall areas, big and small. (bathroom is a small space to work in) Also added three extra areas, crack, water damage, fixture pulled out of the wall to be repaired. Craig worked with our schedules, and got the job done before a family event. He is fast worker, keeps the mess to a minimal, and cleans up afterwards. Paid per hour, got our moneys worth. It looks amazing I have his card and have given it to friends.
Description of Work: Dry wall repair small and larger areas. (1) water damage area (2) cracked area (3) dry wall needed to be replace, and matched texture to existing
We're doing a major remodeling project on an 1950's home, and being old, the original builders had installed tile directly into the concrete slab. Once we removed the tile, the concrete was no longer level with the rest of the house. Given that we want to install wood flooring which requires it to be flat within 1/8th of inch, we knew it would be best to hire a professional to do the flatwork. Craig came out and gave us a bid for $600 for the job. My husband directly asked him if he was confident that he could do the job and he said that yes he was. It wasn't a very big job and Craig was able to finish the job in an evening and about half a day. He charged us another $200 and then left. It was immediately apparent that it was wavy, but we weren't expecting it be perfectly flat. However, when I got a flat board out I found large that were areas too high and areas that were up to 1/4 inch too low. We called, we emailed, we contacted him through Angie's list. He took our money, never to be heard of again. He did a horrible job, he overestimated a small job (imagine how off he would be if it was a larger job), and made no attempt to remedy his shoddy work. If I had seen some of the bad reviews on Angie's list, I would have never had hired him. I feel scammed!

There was no intention of not producing a remedy in this situation. Due to the demand on time I was not able to respond in due manner to produce a reasonable understanding of the situation before any just comments were made. If there is time in your schedule of events I am wanting and willing to make whatever may be injusticed brought to a more than acceptable state. Sincerely, Craig Olsen

It was just okay. The owner/ the company brought a person who wasn't necessarily a painter. They just didn't get done as much as I was hoping. We were expecting people to come in to the house shortly after what they were doing. I had to finish it myself because they just ran out of time. They were two painters for eight hours and we hired them the second day but it took a whole lot longer than I was expecting. I wanted them to paint the trim of the house and inside the house. They got about half the job done and I had to finish the rest. They need to be honest about what they can get done in the amount of time that has been allotted. If they had said that for the amount of time that we have we are able to do this much, that would have been very helpful. The quality of the work that they did was perfectly fine.

My only dissatisfaction is that I didn't hire Craig originally. We had anot her contractor start the job and needless to say we didn't have him complete it. Craig came in and removed the shorty work and then redid the job as was expected. He was a God send! We couldn't imagine prior to Craig that our remodel wasn't a mistake, but after Craig did his beautiful work our faith was restored. I am actually looking for projects because I want to hire him again!

Craig was great to work with for the entire project-- from the initial meeting to discuss needed repairs, to preparing a cost estimate, to actually performing the work, and finishing all the little details at the end of the work. The house suffered from years of neglect and Craig had excellent ideas on the best (and most cost-effective) ways to fix the problems. Craig prepared a detailed cost estimate that had a cost number for each repair. Once the work started, there were the inevitable surprises, but Craig was very good at providing different options for dealing with each surprise situation. Due to a family emergency I could not be in Fort Collins while Craig did the work, but the long-distance relationship worked very well. Once I was able to see the work, it was exactly as I expected. I am very impressed by Craig's honesty and integrity. He does not cut any corners and does exactly what he says he will do. I give Craig the highest recommendation.

Although a relatively small project, it was a tricky/detailed one that required a lot of corner beading and also required that the texture fixture be blended into not one, but two different types of texture. The provider did a phenomenal job on this. The new work blends in perfectly with the rest of the ceiling, with no seams or breaks or changes in texture whatsoever. Really nice job. All communication and interaction was prompt, pleasant, and highly professional as well. Highly recommended.

So far, we have had Solid Rock Custom Carpentry perform 3 projects for us. The first project was for drywall repair in two rooms, and the installation of new attic stairs (e.g., the pull-down ladder type) in a hallway. He did a great job! We then had our home, outbuilding, and deck painted. He did a great job sanding the deck first, applying primer to the house, etc. Finally, we had a house in the mountains (Winter Park/Fraser) repaired (siding had woodpecker holes in it), and also painted. Once again, he did a great job despite the distance and difficulty getting materials up there. I would highly recommend Craig and his crew.

I purchased a "contractor for a day" deal with Solid Rock Custom Carpentry. I had about five different jobs that needed doing and knew they wouldn't all fit into one day. The contractor was very prompt and proactive in working out a time with me, then on the day the work was done, worked with me to get the best fit of the projects into the available time. The quality of the work was excellent.

Unfortunately, even though the quality of work that was done was acceptable, we are unable to recommend this company. It took a couple weeks worth of emails and phone calls to get the painting scheduled. We were not going to be present at the time of painting so in addition to walking him through the house and showing him what we would like to have painted, I also followed-up with a written description of the job to be performed. Despite the in-person explanation of what we wanted and the written details, we came back to a room that was mistakenly painted. We attempted to work with the owner for 3 weeks to get the issue resolved. Despite numerous phone calls and emails, he never followed-through with what he verbally committed to do.

While we purchased their 2 painters for a day in late january, they agreed to paint our exterior upper story, and my husband could not, so we knew it would wait until warmer weather. It rained for a long period, and the owner finally got back in touch with me about the job; a date was set, and they showed up pretty much on time. WE had bought the paint, and they called us to check the color, as it was really loud and tooooo bright yellow..........so the first day was shot as my husband and I took the paint back to tone it down! They showed up early the next day, and worked all day, nearly completing the color part, and arranged a date to come back to do the trim. They scraped the wood, for their prep, and it turned out mostly ok. The wood soaked up the paint so much that it took all of it, leaving none for the lower half!! So the pain ended up to be the problem! It was the first time we had ever had to paint a house, and was pretty stressful, but I was glad to get their help, and they did a fairly good job, also removing a tree branch along the way, and telling us about storm damage to the roof, unfortunately! They were very friendly and pleasant to work with, and I was glad to have them. I noticed they posted the same deal on Angie's list again, before our job was ever finalized; he had me work with his co -worker, Josh, to help them get up to speed, as maybe they'd bitten off more than they could chew!! It is now SEPTEMBER, and we are still WAITING for this job to be finished!! Last month Josh called me to cancel their appt for August, w/o scheduling a date for Septamber! Ir's becoming very frustrating NOT having this job ever done and canceled month to month! I will be writing a FINAL review soon, I HOPE!!
Description of Work: Craig, the owner, agreed to use the deal to paint the exterior 2nd story of our house. He came out and we discussed the details, and he said he wanted to wait until warmer weather, which we agreed to---he also agreed to work out the details and get them to us via email, but so far, as of Mar. 30, has not done so!

It went well. Service was prompt and professional. Crew was even willing to work in the snowy weather instead of waiting. I did feel bad when I found they crew had been working below the deck as snow melted on them from above when it started warming up, but this did not deter them. The only thing issue was I received no quote prior to staring the project so I was unsure what it would cost, but I thought he did a good job and was priced fairly for his work.

Craig does very nice work. I have no complaints about the quality of his work. However, I would never hire him again. I first contacted him on October 6, 2014 by buying a deal, $1500 for a contractor for a week. I contacted him several more times before he finally was able to meet with me. At the end of December he finally presented his proposal and I paid him $1825.00 for materials. A week later I paid him $800 for materials for the 2 large countertops, and he began work. After I had ordered flooring, he said he would like to install it and did so, $825.00 on January 23, 2015. At that time, he also agreed to tile the tub/shower area and began the preparation. At this point, I was not unhappy, although it was taking much longer than I expected. On February 29, 2015, I paid $1336.00 in materials and labor for preparing the tub/shower area to be tiled. He did not give me an itimized bill for materials, just said this is what I owed. He had moved his tile cutter into my basement and was to come back to finish tiling. I did not hear from him again for several weeks, until he called to say that he would come by to pick up his tile cutter, he needed it for another job. I asked when I might expect to get my job finished and was told that he had no time until the end of April. He said that contractors often scheduled 2 years in the future and denied taking other jobs before he had finished mine. At this point, I would have stopped letting him do any work for me, but the 2 countertops he had built would be difficult for someone else to match and he still owed me work from the original contract. When he came back at the end of April, the sink in the kitchen had been placed but not sealed, the tub/shower was tiled, the bathroom vanity installed. Craig needed to finish installing the last of the kitchen cabinets, set the closet doors, hang the 3 other doors as part of the original agreement. Additionally, I needed the 2 smaller countertops built and 1 extra cabinet set. This took 4 days and cost me $1400.50 in materials and labor, again without an itemized materials list. I feel that Craig is not honest. He is friendly and personable, but he does not accurately account for his time. He was consistantly late and padded his hours. I believe that at least on one occation, he used a material run to drum up new business which he then put ahead of my job. I have always expected, and received, an itemized list of material expenses. In my opinion, I was vastly overcharged for those last two countertops, and I am very disappointed that the work took as long as it did.
Description of Work: Basement finish: prepare shower/tub area for tile; install floor in kitchen, bath, and hall area (approx 300 sq ft); install 12 upper/lower kitchen cabinets and drawer pulls; build 6.5'x23" bar and countertop; build 8' closet with bifold doors; enlarge one doorway, hang 3 doors; build and install 3 additional countertops: 1) L shaped kitchen w/ sink 5'x8'x25"; 2) 43"x14" also in kitchen; 3) 22"x5" bathroom vanity including cutout and installation of sink.

(member name removed), The accusations of padding and not billing correctly, I believe are stated through a frustrated state of mind. In order to prove that it is not in my nature to do these things, I have no problem what so ever in creating an itemized bill and hourly charges. This only took place to save time in the office. Which I did not have to ability to do in order to maintain the hours in the field that I was spending. I apologize for any inconvenience, and hope that we may come to a better understanding of a client and service provider relationship. Sincerely, Craig Olsen SRCC

I purchased a deal from this provider on Oct. 18th. He did not contact me for several days after I purchased the deal. He set an appointment for the next week. I am contemplating a major kitchen remodel. He spent an hour plus looking at what I wanted to do and discussing if part of it was feasible. He took some measurements but not carefully. I told him I would want him to come, do the job and get finished, as I would be living in the mess. He left saying he would be back to me with an estimate. I did not hear from him for a week and then contacted him. He said that he was working on the bid. Finally a month had passed with no bid so I decided if he could not get a bid to me in that period of time he very possibly would not come, do the job and leave in a reasonable length of time. I was very disappointed because his ratings were good and I hoped I found someone to do the work.

We contacted the builder for advice and an estimate to replace a patio cover. Sent pictures of the existing cover and met with the contractor to discuss the job. Since we did not have any definite plans, we asked for several options to be considered and estimated: a replacement cover, a screened patio cover, all the way to a fully enclosed sun room. Additionally, we needed to have part of the house resided as part of the project. The contractor said he could not start for several weeks and would put together some plan/proposals for us in the meantime. Several weeks later, I contacted him and learned that "he had been really busy on other projects" and had not gotten to our requests. I was left with the impression that he had forgot who we were. We even gave the contractor a ballpark figure of the amount we thought of spending, which is above the average for sunrooms our size in this area to give some incentive to move forward. Needless to say, we have not heard from the contractor. It has been over six weeks since the last contact and we are beginning to think the contractor is not interested in our business.

Craig check the one wing of the door and said that it is definitely warped. He provided me with the instruction for my next steps (getting the new door from the Alpine lumber). He said that he does not charge the trip fee. I felt bad that he had a 20 minutes drive to my house and offered him at least $25 for the gas. He refused to take any money. He was very polite and professional. I will definitely use him in the future and recommend him to my friends.
Description of Work: I had a bad luck with the previous contractor who would not come back to diagnose the issue with my double French door after he just installed it. I wasn't sure if the door was installed wrong or it was manufacturing defect. Craig came the next day after I contacted him via Angie's list to check what is going on.
