Description of Work: Cleared stopped basement drain. Execution was fine. Only gripe is that they were a little late showing up. On all other accounts, the service was good.

Description of Work: We had a bad sewer backup -- water was coming up out of two toilets and two shower drains. Roto Rooter came out in the evening, on short notice, quickly diagnosed where the problem was and had it cleared out in less than an hour. It cost a bit extra because it was after hours, but it was totally worth it. They did a great job.

Description of Work: I need to clarify that I intended to use Roto Rooter because we have used them for years for a variety of services - kitchen sink to the bathroom toilet as well as a clogged drain in the laundry room. Roto Rooter not only has better prices but they tell you how you can save money - we had them for a clogged toilet a few times and they told us that we could go to HOme Depot or Lowes to get the apparatus they used (for about $12) and showed us how it was used. Since then it has saved us hundreds in unneeded service calls which are usually $60 but went up to $80 I think. When I called about a hole in our garbage disposal they told us if we wanted to go and buy one and they offered suggestions on types and prices -- they could install it because if they brought one of theirs it would cost us more. |However, regarding the date you contacted us about I thought it was Roto Rooter but after he got started AND ESPECIALLY after we got the bill I found out my husband had accidently called the wrong place called Mr. Rooter and although prompt and friendly the guy lied to us telling us it would be just as much to fix the toilet as to put in a new one. We learned the hard way that the old toilets we have from the 1970s are not made anymore when we remodled our other bathroom and the guy wanted the old toilet - we were not aware that they are valuable because although they use more water they rarely clog. Mr. Rooter guy was REALLY pushing the new toilet for about $700+ with labor but when I told him I just wanted him to replace the inside parts (which he had claimed would be the same cost) the total was $350 - 1/2 of cost of new toilet and it had a year warranty. My husband also had him fix the handle on the other toilet and he charged us another $130. So if Mr. Rooter is on your list I would very much like to do a review on them because they flat out lied. But in regards to ROTO-ROOTER they are friendly, professional and proficient in numerous types of plumbing jobs and typically charge 30% to 50% less than competitors details.
